I promised to come back and share testimony and timeline.. God was with us from Day one Hubby left for Canada December 2021 while I was 3 months pregnant for my second child...we wanted to apply for my SOWP and Visitor Visa for my first Son but there was huge delay in SOWP application...so we concluded I give birth first before applying....my baby was 3 months when I submitted application Application submitted Sept 2nd Biometrics Sept 4th Medical Request for all 3 Jan 26th PPR for all 3 ,February 13th Documents submitted My Employment letter My 3 month payslip 2 work reference letter from my supervisors LOE My MBS of 7m My Dad Retirement Certificate My family pictures My professional certification Bsc Cert ID and Passport
Hubby gave me his SIN Study permit Bank statement of $12,000CAD Consent letter for my children Invitation letter School admission letter Last semester transcript Last semester before application tuition receipt Lease agreement Work ID We tried getting work reference letter from the white man but he refused, he said my husband wasn't working with them full time...so I left it to GoD
Jan 5th ,Hubby contacted the MP of his province and pleaded with her to intervene that we have waited for too long, she sympathised with us and promised to write IRCC,one week later she asked my hubby to send my UCI and that of my children, Jan 26th I got a medical request... I don't know how it happened but I know God was with us all through, we didn't have car Documents or house documents to submit,we just submitted what we had believing God will see our heart and Grant our earnest desire to be together as a young marriage...I Pray as he has done for me,your PPR will locate you in Jesus name,Amen

Funny enough you will get your PPR before UK visa will come out Ocool: Timeline
Upfront medical = 19 July 2022
Application submitted = 04 August 2022
Biometric = 04 August 2022 and updated same day immidietly
Program deferred = 13 September 2022
IRCC notified of program deferred and complained about medical not updated = 14 September 2022
Request from IRCC to send e-medical form = 14 September 2022
Medical passed = 14 September 2022 (This shows they can process an application within a day but just doing what suits them).
Since then, nothing again after several emails and webforms sending.
But these people are very callous Sha.
Anyway, I've started working on the UK against January 2022 to University of Wolverhampton and I applied without paying a dime. I can't let a time waster come and joke with my japa ambition. |

I remember you from last year....Congratulations dear RollyA: Hi everyone, i am not sure anyone knows me on this thread, but i thought to drop my Canada study journey.
my timeline as much as i can remember goes thus:
Applied January 9 2021 , got refused February 2021, reason: Personal assets and financial status
Applied again April 2021, addressing the issues, got refused in August 2021 for same reason, personal assets and financial status
Began my journey to JR because i did all i could, everyone i chatted with on thread 19 didnt know whatelse i should do that i hadnt done.
So i consulted a lawyer, he read my notes and documents submitted, said i had a good case.
In my first application, the denial reason was that they could not find documents of financial proof, i remember i was asked to submit MBS but i declined, i was told it was not compulsory, at least their request letter said so, so i asked them to process with the traditional bank statements i provided, i was wrong, it was not an option, i was refused 2 days after i ignored their request.
So to improve my chances, i liquidated my fixed deposits in my first application, paid 95% of my tuition from it and reapplied, lo and behold, i was slammed with lump sum deposit despite my explanation and documentary evidence the lump sum were from my liquidated fixed deposits.
my journey to JR began in September, a month after my second refusal, IRCC refused to settle at first instance, i became pensive and put in a third application in December, finished paying my tuition, bit the bullet and did GIC, it was expensive but it was worth it. I did a third application because the case had gone quiet and i had already almost given up on it. i started questioning my choice to go through JR, my lawyer was in high spirits and was very much sure we will win.
He was not in support of my third application but i did it anyway. The third application was untouched from December 2021 to May 2022, it was as if they wanted to see the direction of my case in court.
So in that same May, the judge granted leave (this means the judge is interested and wants to hear the case which will most likely rule in my favor)
2 days after the judge granted leave, IRCC comes forward to settle and reopen my file. 2 days after they settled, my third application which was untouched gathered momentum, medical request dropped like a week after settlement, PPR a month after. the second application which was still reopened was withdrawn after i got PPR.
Immediately after i received my PPR, i put in my son's application and it was approved in 6 weeks.
we arrived BC last week and preparing for my resumption in January 2023.
I hope everyone on this journey and awaiting decisions draws strength from this post.
Cheers! |

Oh so sorry dear. From my little experience and what I have learnt from this great platform, I think your family ties to Nigeria was strong enough... Like say siblings, Aged parents, Uncles/Aunties you're entitled to....just any stand in person thats a close relative and depends on you for upkeep and all....say you have aged parents who are retired, you could mention them in your LOE and you wouldn't want to hurt their feelings by leaving them behind so you will do whatever it takes to come back to them( my suggestion) this can be accompanied by pictures from little till you became an adult...you can submit birth certificate of your parents, retired documents..... I hope this helps ami213: These are the documents I included in the LOE; Marriage certificate Change of name Affidavit Employment letter Leave Letter from my employer Payslips Bank statements Deed of inheritance of a land from my late father Last promotion letter Police character certificate Invitation letter from my husband Study permit letter His academic transcripts Employment letter Data page of our international passport.
This is my first refusal though, I applied on the gckey in June but the application is still in queue for processing. Hence, the reason I reapplied on the new portal since it is quite faster. I have been a silent reader on here since 2021 but I never created an account, but the refusal letter hit me differently. I am trying to contact you privately as to forward my LOE for revision but nairaland is refraining me from doing so. Could you please message me?
You can still reapply for visit, since it may be faster. You may need to work more on your LOE (I do help revise LOE's). Also, you may want to look at the documents you submitted e.g. the invitation letter from your husband. |

You made a great point here ...my hubby is a first class graduate, a lecturer but the high bp ircc gave us eh...I can't wish for anyone to go through the process again.... The prayers, the depression and everything... God!! Hmmmm, well she said her credentials gave her visa and not luck,my best bet is she should try again with her credentials... Who knows? She can be favoured with her hubby....shey if na me reason this kind thing say I wan come back eh,hubby go just wipe me cord to reset my brain....All the best girl! Osemigho: This is not about her husband or their marriage. It is about opportunity. When one partner have visa and leave, the other person still have 50-100% chances of joining the partner in Canada either by SOWP or PR.
Now that she's starting all over again, both husband and wife have zero guarantee that they will get student visa or SOWP. A typical nigerian hustle guy that want to travel will think about that and say, let me go and you will join me later. I can even come and visit during school break.
It seems applicant is blessed and privileged. He no easy to do bachelor's and masters in UK considering fees. We can only offer our tips on how to present best application for couple. The final decision is theirs as a couple and what she is trying to do is not impossible. They can get it.
My knowledge and experience won't allow me to risk it. Love blossom with comfort and marriage to me is be my supporter and strength in my weakness, not let's suffer together. I come from a poor background. So na me go convince my wife to go if i were in their shoes. My anthem will be "I go join you soon or later. You just go for now. God forbid we both end up not leaving."
However, i understand that past experience and knowledge sometimes limit our achievement because we become risk-adverse. So we should encourage her to do it if that is what she want and they can chest the consequences. |

I hope my eyes are not deceiving me but if I read correctly, you went to Canada and came back to start all over and apply again because of your husband?? Waow!!.. I commend your boldness, I pray too your hubby have such a big heart like you do...May God Grant you your heart desires MsLoolah: Good morning all,
Please I need the gurus in the house to help me out here.
My husband and I applied separately for a Canadian student Visa last year, he was refused in May, but I was approved in June.
We applied for the second time for his as he would like to further his education as well, he doesn’t have a BSC and would like to get one. We included everything possible, however this time instead of his brother sponsoring him, he is sponsoring himself, we included what he’s been doing since graduating secondary school and what he is doing now, with strong SOP but was refused again.
Now we have been advised to apply for a spousal open work permit (sowp), once I get my study permit and then he can come and join me. I also ordered for the gcms so we can see what we are missing.
I traveled to Canada in December to obtain a study permit, on getting there I found a school I prefer much more than the one I initially applied with, I applied for a 4 yr bsc even though I already have a masters, but it’s a different degree. Now I found a shorter version of the course which is 2 years diploma.
I applied to the school and I am awaiting decision, however the school resumes in sept 2022 which exceeds the 150 day out of school rule, so I can’t change my dli on the portal. Instead, I came back to Nigeria as I didn’t want to violate any rules while I await response for the school and re apply for a new study visa.
Now my question is, can I include my husband in this new application as accompanying and apply for a SOWP without it affecting my decision because I don’t want to do this without him, we have been married not even 2 years and I am dreading separating from him.
Also we have ordered the gcms notes and should get it before the new application, that way we can see the issue on his applications.
I have a good travel history and my bsc and msc is for a uk university, I also have an active 10 year Uk visa.
I just need to know if we should go ahead with our decision or any advice that can be rendered will be very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance |

Do you put everything in one envelope and pay for delivery for just 1 envelope. Or you put each person documents in different envelope and pay for delivery for each of the envelope.

Oh God of sharp sharp,I tap into this miracle oo....Congratulations Kenon1: PPR Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOWP and daughter’s study permit application approved in 65 days! It can only be God!!! It has finally ended in praise o! Come and join me sing hallelujah, Jehovah Jireh has done me well. I am super-duper excited to drop my story here because it is a dream come through against so many odds after about 11 years. At some point, I only come to Nairaland to read other people’s testimonies and after reading, I will share with my wife believing that one day we will share ours to the glory of the awesomely awesome great God with whom nothing is impossible. When it appeared that the door of express entry was shut at us due to age consideration and our SINP application came back to us ineligible after about 9 months of waiting, it was as if we had come to the end of the road and it was very painful. We had a choice to throw in the towel and quit (…but we realized that winners never quit). Then we decided to reconsider the study route which we never thought as an option because of its huge cost implications. As God would help us, my wife got an admission into MSVU on 14th December, 2020 and her study permit was approved on 10th September, 2021. She couldn’t travel until 29th December, 2021 because of Omicron with its attendant unexpected “apartheid” travel ban. Now, as the SOWP & study permit application journey started, the burning question was whether we should submit my SOWP & daughter’s study permit application without my wife’s study permit and SIN while she had not started lectures and was still in Nigeria and send them later via webform when she lands in Canada or wait until she lands in Canada and gets her study permit and SIN before my SOWP and daughter’s study permit application will be submitted. There were varied answers to the question above. But we prayerfully submitted our application on 18/11/2021 with wife’s study permit approval letter and without her study permit and SIN. My wife travelled to Canada on 29/12/2021, and her study permit and SIN with Student ID card, school fees receipt and updated enrolment letter showing full time student (because the one we submitted application with had “part time” student) were sent to IRCC via webform & e-mail on 20/01/2022. Thereafter, I sent an enquiry on the status of my medical examination to IRCC via webform & e-mail on 21/01/2022. There was not specific reply from them except the generic auto response emails. To my greatest wonderment and pleasant shock, when I logged in to check my e-mail on Saturday (afternoon), 22/01/2022, I saw three donotreply@cic.gc.ca messages from IRCC (one with my daughter’s application number and two with my application number). I was apprehensive (should I open it or not). Torrent of messages flooded my mind. But when I finally mustered courage to it, lo and behold, God has given us “an earlier than expected miracle” of the beautiful golden PPR emails for my daughter and I. In view of the crazy SOWP current processing time of 61 weeks, my heart “cut” and I was tempted to apply for visitor visa via the new IRCC portal. In fact, I started the visitor visa application and everything was almost ready for submission. But I said to myself, since my wife travelled to Canada on 29/01/2021 that I would wait till 31/01/2022 by then she would have been one month in Canada and if there’s no tangible update on the SOWP application, I would hit the ‘’SUBMIT’’ button for the visitor visa application. But God is bigger than my doubts and worries. Timeline: Submitted my application: 18th November, 2021 Biometrics done: In 2015 for a previous visitor visa application Medicals upfront done: 2nd November, 2021 Medical passed(Daughter): 23rd December, 2021 Medical Passed(Dad): 22nd January, 2022 Eligibility review started: 22nd January, 2022. Indeed, what GOD cannot do does not exist!!! My heart is full of joy and gratitude to the Almighty God!
I also thank @Lianna for her help in guiding me with the documents for submission. Thanks sis. I also thank everyone on Nairaland for your various contributions on this platform, I gathered a lot of information here. God bless you all.
I applied for SOWP for my husband and study visas for my 2 older kids on October 8th, 2021. My children got their medical request 6 weeks after and their PPR on Dec 10, 2021 but no news for my husband. I kept sending webforms but all I got was the generic messages.
1st week of January, I decided to reach out to the MP of my area and she was really helpful in contacting them and giving me feedback. However, she informed me that for whatever reason, they didn’t link my husband’s application with that of my kids hence the delay. I was angry, frustrated and confused because I did the application myself and he was the primary applicant. IRCC informed my MP that the average processing time is 40weeks for SOWP and they can’t give any further information other than medicals and criminality had been passed. MP advised that I apply for visitor’s visa so at least my family can come and then we apply for work visa from within Canada. I applied for it on January 11th and woke up to my good news this morning! I also checked the visitors visa application and saw that they also just updated the medicals today. I guess that they saw that the UCI number was same and he already had a work permit application waiting for a VO’s attention. I believe that the visitor’s visa application prompted them to pick up my hubby’s SOWP file. GOD DID IT!!!
One thing I will like to advice is, try to make your finance and home ties proof water tight! Also, make sure you are organized enough to arrange all your documents in a table of contents, with the name of each document and page number. It is painstaking but worth it. Lastly, Hope in God. Last night, I finally left everything in God’s hands and told him that I was not going to give myself high BP over this matter anymore, I danced in advance to praise him for all he had done form me so far and went to be just grateful for the one’s he had done for me. Not asking for anything more. I woke up to my good news this morning. My heart cannot contain my joy! I pray everyone waiting her experience this joy soonest in JESUS NAME!!!! AMEN!!!!!

Congratulations Sam4774 ....I have a quick question.... Since you got both work permit and visitors visa...which one were you issued at the port of entry?? sam4774: LANDING GIST
I booked Ethiopian Airlines for the 5th because it was the cheapest flight that i could buy the day before as i had just received my passport back. the long and short of this is that all the documents i printed na only the Ethiopian airlines people in Lagos ask for am. they asked for enrollment letter, photocopy of my wife's study permit, my covid result and asked how long she had been there. the flights were all calm but the addis ababa to Toronto was long as Bleep. the flight was LAGOS ADDIS ABABA TORONTO VANCOUVER.
all the stop-overs were 2 hours that later would come back to haunt me as in Toronto it is near impossible to go through the immigration screening, random covid test (it says random but all the people that came from Nigeria were picked "randomly" and baggage claim. and also you must check-in 45 minutes to a domestic flight so they had to rebook me for a later flight, depends on how you talk and who you meet you may end up paying for the flight change charge, me sha i didnt.
The flight to Vancouver that i was rebooked for got further delayed so i had time to go and change money and reply emails and do some work. if you use Ethiopian airlines try to book with the app and join their rewards it will make you eligible to ignore up to 5kg excess luggage when leaving from Nigeria. In Toronto they only asked for a copy of my wife’s study permit and told me to go, i wasted soooo much money printing all the rubbish in the world in Naija.
Anyways long and short, its less stressful for SOWP clearing immigration than students.
goodluck to those still awaiting and please keep disturbing them. God will bring your own day soon in Jesus name |

I had submitted my application before coming across this wonderful platform. I made loads of mistakes, but GRACE swallowed them all. A Canadian consultant ones told me my chances are very slim. The wait was not an easy one, but we that God for the waiting, He knows it all.
I have learnt so much from this platform. Shout out to @Makano (only God can reward the time you invest in this family), Anon, among others, God bless, and my very own brother @FrankRuben (just too good at what he does; much respect Sir, God bless). Got so much encouragement from others PPR, but the ones with 6 weeks-2 months timeline were not funny to me at all, chai!
Lessons Learnt so far: -Keep praying, and keep trusting, even when you don’t fill like. HE IS JUST TOO FAITHFUL TO FAIL YOU!
-Don’t ever be discouraged simply because you have not traveled before, e nor follow! Had traveled countless times to the US, Europe and even Canada, yet, and we have seen 6 weeks approval of someone who has never traveled before.
-Don’t ever take any part of your application for granted; ask questions on this platform (there are really good and selfless guys here) and be ready to invest money if the need arises. I rather pay a consultant@ FrankRuben for example, than go through 3-4times refusal. Try convert visa fees, among other expenses, besides the emotional trauma. Just plan your application.
I will be back for more testimonies, by God’s Grace. This is just the Genesis of it all, for what God cannot do, is not in existence.
God bless! |

Congratulations!! Now that you've done the needful, What was your question again?? Andytheo: PPR Alert!!
Indeed God is faithful. I'm so grateful to all the members on this platform that has helped me in my study permit application.
I'll try my best to keep this post short.
The very first thing I did when I began my journey to study in Canada was to take IELTS Academic. I sat for the exam on the 10th of April, 2021 and results came in sometime around May. Thankfully, I had an overall band 7.5. Listening-8.5 Reading-7.5 Writing-6.5 Speaking-7.5.
After that, I started applying to colleges because I didn't get into universities. I applied to Cambrian, Durham, Georgian, Lambton and Conestoga colleges (all in Ontario). Got admissions in all, thankfully. I chose to study Computer Applications Development in Conestoga to begin in January, 2022.
Then my visa journey started...
TIMELINE Application submitted: 12th July, 2021 Biometrics done and updated (Lagos): 14th July Medical request: 30th September Medicals done (IOM Lagos): 21st October Medicals updated to pass/Eligibility review: 26th October PPR request/BVL: 24th November Passport sent to VFS Abuja: 25th November (awaiting stamping and delivery)
DOCUMENTS (Applicant)
All the IMM forms International Passport Digital passport photo Letter of Acceptance/Co-op confirmation letter
Client information documents - Degree certificate - Waec result - IELTS result - Professional certificates - Birth certificate - Resume - Police clearance - Nysc discharge certificate - Academic transcript - Family pictures
SPONSORS DOCUMENTS
Passport bio-data page Birth certificate Proof of first term tuition payment ($8,723) Bank account statements for 5 months (February - June, 2021) Letter of Employment Payslips for 4 months (February - May, 2021) Pictures of sponsor and applicant
Truly, it has been God all the way. I know my application wasn't perfect but God perfected it.
I studied Chemical engineering and I'm going for a PGCert in Computer Applications Development. Isn't God wonderful?!
My sponsor is my elder brother, no lump sum, no landed properties or company registration. Just the first term tuition was paid ($8,723). I was worried about my family ties but I talked about my love for my family and opportunities in Nigeria upon completing my studies.
Though the application might be very stressful, the wait may seem long, trust in God and He will make everything beautiful in His time.
Indeed, it will end in praise. |
