Notwithstanding how much he rates Osimhen I don't think his criticism of Victor this time was in bad faith.

Yes straying offside is part of the game but 29 is damn too much. Osimhen is an elite performer who is getting to his peak but if he's to achieve true immortal greatness in the beautiful game those kinks highlighted in his game need to be cut out.

Marjoribanks:
Offside is part of the game, Oga. Every player is different. Martinez doesn't play in a 433. A player like Osimhen needs midfielders to release him on time. How many times was he offside last calendar year?

His leap is scary just like CR7 in his prime only Ronaldo's looks better timed and polished

TheSuperNerd:
Victor Osimhen's head game is already godlike. Better than the head game of many 1.90m+ strikers.

Plus all the hundreds and thousands of people who died in various religious riots up North during Obasanjo's reign.

I will commend PDP especially under Obasanjo for leaving a strong economy while APC gets the nod for infrastructure.

Boniface has a good shout if he can return to the goal scorers sheet but Salah is ahead for now.

What a time for Nigerian players. Last season Osimhen this season Boniface and Tella.

ChrisKels:
Just one more Bundesliga win to crown Victor Boniface and Tella the champions on the Bundesliga. If they win the DFB Pokal and the Europa league, then Boniface will definitely succeed Osimhen as the next APOTY.
Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by chrisooblog: 9:40am On Apr 06, 2024
I'm really optimistic the SF will get the job done in Pretoria. Unlucky for them that they couldn't win with a more convincing scoreline. The South Africans will be more attacking obviously playing at home but I think from the highlights I've seen we should be able to subdue them.

Ihezuo and Deborah are bae.

If only Agbaballer was a few years younger has definitely lost some pace. Would most probably have buried one of the many chances squandered yesterday.

Really think our coaches are missing a trick on how to utilize Onyedika. Dude has great skill set (that word again grin) if deployed properly.

I first noticed Fidelis when he was coach of MFM. He's really talented and passionate but the NFF would rather choose the likes of Ladan Bosso who have been tried, tested and shown to be not up to the task.

Odunayaw:
That 2 decades ago is the last we played "free flowing football" is proof it's not just coaches or players, it is coaches AND players.

There is no luxury of transfer market for NT coaches to shop for players that suit their philosophy neither is their time, so they make the best use of what they have.

On a game by game basis it is impossible to play "free flowing football" for 90mins and it will be a terrible to lie to say SE doesn't play attacking football (I change the nomenclature here) at certain phases of their matches.

Lastly, on the coaches of the aforementioned clubs. I only brought up their names to challenge your claim that ALL NPFL clubs play scrap football. Personally I would love to see Fidelis [Ranger's coach] handle the U20s.

What's up doc!

Respect your argument but I don't think the Fae example you're using is a good enough argument for Amunike to be SE coach.

Fae's case is very similar to Di Matteo who took over Chelsea who were in dire straits and led them to their first UCL title. Does that mean Di Matteo is better than Guys like Jose, Hiddick or Scolari who failed where he succeeded?

If Amuneke gets the nod to handle the SE he will have my full support but it takes more than a decent CV to succeed with the SE.

TheSuperNerd:
I would ask them in this thread what the Ivorian interim cum substantive coach's pedigree or achievements were prior to him taking over and leading CIV to the title just few months ago. What had Emerse Fae achieved?

Amunike is obviously the best choice for the Super Eagles (both from economic and football philosophy/tactical angles, etc) and even has a better CV than the Ivorian Fae who didn't boast much until he went ahead and won the Afcon.

We can kid ourselves all we want and shout or argue but if we are not hiring a top sound foreign coach, then it is better we hand it to Amunike and stop all this rubbish time wasting.

Your athletes have shown that they are mostly only good at one sport which is long distance running and we know the true sporting prowess of a nation is its ability in other sports not milking something dry for all its worth.

Remove the medals won in long distance running let's observe something.

What matters is actually gold, silver and bronze; not how many events you participated to return home empty handed.

Aptly put. Sometimes players need game time and confidence to grow into a team. Like you rightly noted Lookman was beginning to look over hyped when he first joined the team in 2022 but he's now looking like a SE stalwart who will serve the national colours for good number of years to come.

Finidi really dropped the ball not fielding his reserve players especially Nathan, Fisayo and Yusuf. It's not like they were some wet behind youngsters who just started playing professional football.

That said I'm still pro-Finidi he just needs enough support and back up from the NFF to execute his duties optimally.

lovewins:
What's even more annoying is that many people here have projected Tella as Samuel Chukwueze's potential replacement since the latter hasn't been doing well lately.

Abeg, when was he expecting to try him out if not a friendly. Tella should have played 90 minutes in both game cause we obviously have a problem with the right wing. Do they want to do to Tella what they did to Lookman when they debut him in an important world cup qualifiers match.

Many of you know how you almost gave up on him and said Lookman is trash. If I am a conspiracy theorists, I could suggest they either didn't play him to save face to Chukwueze or they plan to put him up I'm an important match so he flops and gets trashed by the fans.

Cause how do you not play him at all in 2 games. I really hope there's a more plausible reason cause it's not making sense at all.

Sadly so. I thought he would come good but he's clearly in diminishing mode. First choice CBs are clearly now Ekong, Bassey, and Ajayi. Kenneth for now is on probation. Osho, Igoh, Toru and even Fredricks should vie for the remaining 1/2 CB slots.

As in? Been a while we scored such a great team goal. Not everytime like someone said 'huff it forward to Osimhen and inshallah'

ChrisKels:
A single turn in the midfield yesterday by Onyedika and we had our best team goal in years. This was house Ivory Coast turned around their fortune by bringing in Jean Seri. Everything Seri did in the Afcon was what Onyedika would have given us and even more because he is stronger and marks better, but our clueless coach kept him on the bench just to ridicule Iwobi.

If we're going to go with local I would suggest we stick with Finidi (if you're unavailable of course grin)

Jokes apart George seems to already have a good rapport with the players but he needs tactical support.

Loved KCs sleek movement and sharpness.

Make we no lie and shame the devil JP no sabi manage him bench for AFCON and are we seriously saying Raphael was such a poor DM we couldn't have risked him in a 3-man midfield and played Iwobi higher up in attack? undecided

Anyway the man do go.
