Foreign Affairs / Re: Tiktok Banned On ALL US Reps-issued Mobile Devices by chukxie(m): 2:22am On Dec 29, 2022
Nigeria is deficient in critical thinkers is all I can say from reading a lot of comments on this thread. A search on Google will show one that foreign apps/ websites such as Google, FB, IG, Twitter, Snapchat, Youtube, WhatsApp,Bloomberg, CNN, Wallstreet Journal...are banned in China. When YT was kicked out of China, Youku (the Chinese equivalent of YT) was born. Google's banning gave birth to Baidu. Weibo, Wechat, Kuaishou, Xiaohongshu, QQ ...are products gleaned from FB, Yahoo Messsenger...These companies / apps have all gone on to be worth several billion of dollars- a good thing for the Chinese economy. Need I say Uber birthed China's cab hailing Didi? Now let me shock you. Do you know government officials in China are forbidden from owning and using iPhones and Samsung phones? . They (govt workers) may own such devices but they CANNOT be seen with them at work because of 'perceived' securityconcerns. Huawei and other local brands are recommended. Do you also know that Tesla cars CANNOT be driven into some sensitive government buildings in China because of 'perceived' security concerns? So, whatever decisions the US government takes regarding Tiktok is in the best interest of the country. Lastly, are you aware that the Tiktok outside of China is totally different from the one in China?

It's good to hear from someone in the care home sector telling it as it is! Having done some travelling to obodo oyibo, I can confidently say Nigerians and black Africans in general are family oriented people. This is one characteristic we share with the Chinese, Japanese, Koreans etc.

The Nigerian communities aren’t really as close knit as we claim. Here in the US, a large number of Americans live and work within a few miles of their extended family. Many have annual family get togethers and thanksgiving/Christmas holidays are strictly family time. That isn’t the case with Nigerians. Closeness isn’t what we have, it’s a tendency for chaos, being overly involved in the lives of our neighbors and restlessness.

Same folks that relegate their old to care homes? In Nigeria people do not wait for some special occasions to have a family gathering; we up and take the kids to visit uncles, aunts and cousins ...I grew up in a family where visiting family members or being visited by them was the norm. Don't know about yours, mate.

Abroad life get as e be. You get all the amenities of life but oftentimes forfeit the close knit community lifestyle one has built in Nigeria. Truth be told na availability of basic amenities and security of lives and properties keep people for abroad. The things we 'kabash and reskete' at vigils and church services for in Nigeria na normal normal for abroad. It's painful say our leaders don institutionalize poverty thereby making it a political tool for political campaigns. If our leaders fit have the fear of God for once and begin upgrade Nigeria with the billions of Naira at their disposal, Nigerians go japa-less. I miss Nigeria but the level of insecurity, Kidnappings that way dey scare me walahi. Imagine 40+ people slaughtered in Southern Kaduna and el -Rufai the dwarf of a governor hasn't moved a finger! May Nigeria get it right in 2023! Amen!

But don't u tink Lagos government used the previous tax payers money(those who have bn paying before u arrived) money well, and that brought up leverage to have a good business environment for ursef??

At least there are other several 35states before u chose Lagos as the state u want to pay Ur money to.

I haven't said anything bad or demeaning about Lagos so I don't get why we're still having this conversation..Have a great day, man..

Here's what I'm thinking : Instead of building a new airport in Lekki, I think it'd make more practical sense for the Lagos State Government to renovate / upgrade the existing Muritala Mohammed International Airport MMIA into a state-of-the-art airport that would compete with the best airports in Africa. Also, the newly commissioned terminal 2 should be expanded to accommodate large body aircrafts - a construction error that has hitherto hindered large body aircrafts from landing and taking off there. You get it? It's a simple stuff; a no-brainer!
Food / Re: The N100 Orange I Bought In Calabar This Eveninging (photos) by chukxie(m): 11:37am On Oct 01, 2022
Oranges grow in Nigeria. As do bananas, and other seasonal fruits and vegetables. These fruits have been growing in some farmers orchids for years. So, why the hike in the prices of these and more locally grown produce? Wickedness and greed of the black man! Some people are so evil that they lie in wait for opportunities to exploit their fellow citizens.

Ball up that hatred inside of you, and use it to speak up against the injustices, corruption, poverty and mismanagement in Nigeria.

A Chinese national was arrested for illegal mining. My question is : How did he know where to dig for minerals? A local, a chief, a politician...must've done a shady deal with the Chinese citizen that granted him the 'rights' to dig for minerals. Some black people have sold their birthright to foreigners for peanuts!

Foreign Affairs / Re: US Bans ‘advanced Tech’ Firms From Building Facilities In China For 10 Years by chukxie(m): 1:05am On Sep 08, 2022
The next war is going to be technologically driven - and chips are what drive technology! From rockets, drones, robots, hacking systems, fighter jets...all rely on semiconductors. The US. knows this and that's why it's doing everything it can to ensure American capitalist driven manufacturers of semiconductors do not compromise national security by building new semiconductors factories in China. Similarly, China is greatly aware of the roles of semiconductors in today's technologically driven world and that's why it is investing billions of Yuan into its nascent semiconductor sector. A few months ago, the Chinese government arrested the heads of the six largest government funded semiconductor companies for corruption - they were alleged to have misappropriated billions of Yuan granted to their companies to boost the semiconductor sector. Of a truth, the Chinese semiconductor sector is way behind that of Taiwan (TMC), and South Korea (Samsung). The US. is behind, too, but well ahead of China. So, the Biden's decision to protect America's semiconductor sector is a step in the right decision. Let me add if China takes Taiwan, it'll become the undisputed global leader of semiconductors! Go figure! And that is why the US will ensure that doesn't happen.
