Also, if anyone tells you Asia is a good place to go, ask them to show you Africans living there who have good jobs (not factories or English teaching for crumbs), PR status or citizenship, and decent homes. If they tell you to study there, have them show you African professionals working in Europe and north America with an Asian credential alone. Doctors don't count.

Don't migrants do factory jobs in America, Canada, Europe? Did you just say "teaching for crumbs"? I know Nigerians teaching in China who earn 16k -20k Yuan after tax. I also know there are Nigeria with PR in China, Japan and South Korea although I must admit the number is small. Citizenship? China, Japan, Korea rarely grant citizenships to foreigners; it is written in black and white. The standard of life in some western countries might be higher than what is obtainable in Asian countries but that still mean that life in Asia is awful as often portrayed.

They're racist, and don't have anything to offer you. Nowhere in Asia has anything to offer you except China, and that's only if you're finding suppliers for a business, not living there.

The way some people on here blab is outrageous! You lots always throw the racist card into conversations whenever it is convenient for you, meanwhile you lots are some on the most vile tribal and ethnic bigots ever as evidenced by responses on some threads here. You painted an entire continent as having nothing to offer black immigrants. Hmm! There are Nigerians working in China, South Korea, Japan as professionals, teachers, entrepreneurs...The numbers may be small compared with caucasians but we're represented nonetheless.

Well, it is the same brain that God gave the chinese man that he gave the African man. The problem is, the African man has refused to use his and that is why he has failed woefully when it comes to creating economically progressive and thriving societies. He is only good at embracing toxic behaviors and lifestyles such as looting the national treasury of his country and keeping the loot in offshore accounts while keeping his people impoverished. He also invites the whites and chinese to mine all his resources while his own people suffer in perpetual hopelessness. If I had to live life all over again, I don't wish to come as an African because I have never met a group of people who hate themselves so much and constantly self sabotage while the world makes mockery of us. Such a shame. By the way, I do not wish to live in such kind of buildings. They are too tall and I have a fear of heights. The neighborhood however looks clean, serene and peaceful just like the one I live in in North America.

Nice submission! I can practically feel your pains from your writing because I feel the same way, too. Whenever I walk around my neighbourhood most times all I feel is sadness because average Nigerians back home can not enjoy anything close to the same tranquility and quality of life that the people are enjoying. It is sad that black Africans have refused to develop; have blatantly refused to catch up with the world; have resigned themselves to a life of poverty in perpetuity. It is painful to watch the underdevelopment of Nigeria. We have oil but can't refine what we have! Who does that? Only a nitwit would . Sometimes I can't help wondering if there's something wrong with the DNA of black Africans.

Great Thread! what opportunities are there for prospective Nigerian immigrants keen to move to China?

Hi! There are jobs in China especially for people with the required skills. People who studied for their Masters or PhD do stand better opportunities to land jobs than someone with a foreign bachelor's degree because of China's burgeoning population. English teaching jobs used to be easy to land especially for foreigners with good pronunciation skills, but all that is changing since the government begun clamping down on English training centres. You may want to Google for jobs in China. All the best to you.
Sports / Re: Ballon D’or: Be Sincere To Yourself, Not Empty Words – Lewandowski Slams Messi by chukxie(m): 2:57pm On Dec 07, 2021
I understand how Lewandowski feels. He feels he was robbed. But that isn't the truth. 2020 was without any doubt Lew's year. Sadly the Balon d'Or didn't hold because of COVID-19. In all honesty, I thought the organisers would present two awards - 2020 and 2021's. That would've have been the best thing to do. Lewandowski is a remarkable goal scorer. Messi on the other hand is a complete footballer- he passes, assists, attacks, defends and scores. Finally, winning the elusive Copa America did it for Messi.

Well I no go blame them. As some one mentioned in a thread maybe na the discipline they give our leaders back then'to beat sense comot your body'. That's why their senseless and clueless now, you can't eat your cake and have it. If you dey beat sense comot for your pikin body cause you want him to behave, how will you expect him to use sense if he finds himself in leadership position. Like someone said let's just return to our ancient ways. If not because of oyibo phone and aeroplane how would we know of all these advancement in foreign countries. By the way our forefathers maintained the culture and tradition till 1900 living in their huts and appeasing the gods, and they are all content with it. Even though oyibo don dey drive Benz and build skyscrapers but dey no complain cause our culture and tradition is enough for them to maintain.

That's an interesting angle. May Nigeria someday in the nearest future become a country we will all be proud of.

I don't know too... But there is a greater probability that happening maybe soon than before. The youths have the most number in this population as nigeria is concerned, and with the recent happenings, that should count for something.

Absolutely it does count for something! May our nation change for good in the nearest future.

Very shameful.
Is it the politics or the government?
Cos it applies to every sector of the economy

Both and more. It's a fundamental problem. But it starts from the very top (the govt). Mismanagement of our resources by the govt - past and present, created poverty which has conditioned a great proportion of Nigeria to accepting being short-changed as a way of life. Then came divisive politics aimed at polarizing the have-nots; pitching the have-nots against themselves, to the gratification of the people in power. Haven't you ever wondered why Nigerians sing praises when a politician fixes a portion of bad roads under his constitution? Systemic poverty has eaten up the brains of a lot of Nigerians.

This serviced estate is like a mini city with a kindergarten, primary school, shops, ATM points, recreational centres, two swimming pools, a refuse management facility, playgrounds etc. The base floors of every highrise building is specially dedicated for the elderly to relax, play games and workout thereby preserving their lives. Nigerians, too, can better lives if our leaders desire it to be so.

Life is beautiful. It is even more beautiful when one has around him the amenities that contribute to making life truly beautiful, satisfying, meaningful and livable. Indeed life should be lived in pleasure and tranquility. Unfortunately this is not case for a lot of Nigerians to whom life has become a never-ending struggle without the wherewithal to own their dream homes. I strongly believe average Nigerians can live in better houses if our leaders truly desire for it to be so. Again, I also believe Nigeria can have constant electricity supply if our leaders truly desire it to be so. Nigerians in respective of their geopolitical regions, religion, political affiliations...can get to enjoy life if our leaders truly desire it to be so. In all sincerity, I wish to see Nigerians live life like is deserving of citizens of an oil rich country. We deserve better.
Today, I bring you photos from a housing estate in a 3rd tier city in Hunan, China. For a better perspective, a 3rd tier city is similar to what Surulere is to Lagos State.

Bro... you didn't had to list all those unpronounceable names to jam my brain ....... now I have a headache! A workmate (Chinese) had told me most Blacks are pretty much in Guangzhou .... outside of there Chinese generally ..... generally blatantly discriminate against Blacks. Did you experience any of this in your travels to the unpronounceable places you listed?

Hahaha! Pardon me!
Yes, Guangzhou is the go-to city for blacks, Arabs and other business-minded immigrants because of its proximity to the international airport, seaport; factories, markets, logistic companies etc. Prior to COVID-19, there were quite a number of Nigeria restaurants where Nigerian cuisines, drinks and beverages were sold. Also, there were Nigerian owned shops where foodstuffs, and everyday items from Nigeria were sold. Sadly, COVID-19 and unfavorable visa policies have almost put a lid on all that. These days most of the shops selling Nigerian foodstuffs and everyday items are mostly run by Chinese women married to Nigerian men while some are run wholly by Chinese citizens. Speaking of racism, I can say I've had a few experiences of racism. On the Guangzhou metro, it is common to see Chinese people not sitting near a foreigner especially a black foreigner. Sometimes a bench meant for say six passengers would be left unoccupied simply because a black foreigner was sitting on it. Sometimes two spaces to the foreigner would be left unoccupied. Other times nobody gives a shit, everybody's sitting on every available sitting spot. Such displays of ignorance do get to one, I must confess. However, I must emphasize this isn't a general behaviour. For example in Shanghai and Beijing where I've ridden the metro a couple of times, nobody gave me a second look. I think it is fair to say most of the racist behaviours of Chinese people are borne out of ignorance of the world outside of their bubble due to restriction of information. Also, a great number of rural dwellers (migrant workers) are constantly moving to urban areas and megacities for work; such people have never had any exposures to foreigners so it is natural to see them acting weirdly. On the flip side, the average Chinese person is nice. I've been treated like royalty on some of my trips across China. There was this one unforgettable moment while travelling in Harbin (Ice City), my wife, daughter and I ran into a group of giggly middle-aged women who were posing for photos. On seeing me, they all came over excitedly and politely asked if they could take photos with me, and I obliged them. The celebrity moment was fun! I have been offered offered drinks, food, cigarettes (I don't smoke) by locals I encountered on some of my trips in China. I have also be pointed the right way when I lost my way; shown the nearest subway exit/entrance; shown that important building I just couldn't find. One time in Dongguan some years ago, a police patrol car showed up at the bus stop where I was waiting for a bus home, and asked I be driven home by them. On the way one of the officers told me they saw from the CCTV cameras at the bus stop two men trying to pick my wallet. Such astonishing moments are difficult to forget; they help one to overcome or mitigate any bouts of racism one would experience or has experienced. Cheers!
