The usual thing is that the wedding is done in the lady's church because it is assumed that it's the man that is going to take her from her father's place and bring her into his home. Subsequently, the lady then worships at the man's church. So I really don't think this should be a problem. If she insists that the wedding should be in her church, then she's within her rights to ask for it since it's the norm. But after you marry her, the norm is that the lady now worships at her husband's church since she now belongs to you. |

abbey621:Lol you make me laugh. You might have a thousand lawyers in your family doesn't make you a lawyer yourself sir. And you can Google for yourself to see verified cases of ladies who were prosecuted for same offense. The reason why many of these cases are not prosecuted is because many at times the guy mercifully ends up settling out of court. Please don't just hear it from me. Google it sir. And I'm surprised you recognize boyfriend and girlfriend as a legal union. Even non lawyers can easily tell it's not. What legally binds such relationship? Are there court statements etc? Have a great night sir lol |
abbey621:My dear sir, what is involved here is what the law calls obtaining by false pretense, and according to the law it is criminal, classed in the same category as 419 or yahoo. And for your info, the law doesn't recognize boyfriend or girlfriend relationship. The only union the law recognizes is that of a marital institution or any union that was formalized in court! So even if they were in a relationship, it still doesn't exonerate her from potential criminal charges of obtaining by false pretense. |
osazsky:If you know what obtaining by false pretense is, you won't talk all these. It's like a Yahoo guy meeting a white guy and promising to deliver goods if the white guy sends a certain amount of money. The man sends the money but the goods are not delivered. Rather the Yahoo guy uses the money to buy a car for himself. You're telling me the Yahoo guy hasn't committed fraud? Once evidence of the purpose and transactions are pit forth, the guy is a goner. Please research more on what obtaining by false pretense is according to you law and you'd be enlightened. |
osazsky:If the money wasn't enough, she should return it to the sender. Or did she board a vehicle that she knew she didn't have enough money for it's destination? Which driver would even reserve a seat for her if she doesn't have enough money. Please let's be logical here. This matter is not as complicated as you're making it look. The girl committed fraud, simple |
I |
kunle75:It's not a civil matter. It's criminal. It is a fraud which the law defines as obtaining by false pretense (classed in same grade as 419 or yahoo). What this girl doesn't realize is that she can bag years jail term for this if the guy has the records of their chats stating that he was sending her the money for tfare and bank transfer evidence |
abbey621:Naaah what the lady did is what the law calls obtaining by false pretense which is punishable by the law with several years in jail. There mustn't be an existing relationship between the two. All the guy has to prove is the fact that they had an agreement to meet each other and he sent her the money to facilitate her coming to see him and she breached that agreement by not showing up when she was expected to. These are very easy to prove... from chats, bank transfers etc. |
God1000:What do you mean by the money is gone? Haven't you heard about obtaining by false pretense which is criminal according to law and can land her several years in jail. The guy can do that if he so pleases. |
Think9ja:Lol you've forgotten that that North you're talking about also has North Central And even within the North west, Atiku's votes will be shared with kwankwaso and Tinubu. Atiku can only confidently boast of North East (and even at that, a landslide is not guaranteed in his North East). This election is not going to be like before where twas only two main northern contestants like in 2019. I'm just laughing at your wack analysis. |
WibusJaga:Suspending him will spell doom for the party because Wike will come out full blown with evidences which will definitely destroy PDPs chances. Again southern sympathy will flow on his side and this will make Atiku lose more ground. Southern sympathy because Wike has craftily and smartly made himself look like a saviour for the south against northern dominance. The most foolish thing PDP will do is to suspend him. They'd shoot themselves in the foot. But seriously I used to think Atiku was a smart politician. For him to watch this matter degenerate to this point is disappointing. Even with the corruption scandal of Ayu beginning to come out, and it's implications on Atiku's image as he campaigns, I expected that Atiku should have prevailed on Ayu to step down long before now. This whole mess is not helping Atiku's already corrupt riddled image. |
WibusJaga:Start by holding your government accountable for the dilapidated and unequipped healthcare facilities. For crying out loud the health care workers can't use their own finance or resources to run a hospital that's government owned. If privately owned, the hospital can only do it's best to the degree of facilities it has. That's why doctors are leaving in droves. No matter how talented a health care worker is, if he works in an ill equipped facility there's little or nothing he can achieve. That's why victims like this in developed countries survive, not because the workers are extra good but rather because their facilities are well equipped. |
You coming here to ask what you should do when the answer should be obvious means you are capable of compromising your marital relationship for this your ex guy. It's not everything you should seek advice for. There are some situations like this where the right action you need to take are so obvious without anyone needing to tell you that. To even consider coming here for advice without knowing what to do, I see it as a huge disrespect to your husband. Any sensible lady would have put the ex in his rightful place instantly. Friendship should not even be encouraged because of the likely implications. |
Nazgul:That's why I always use my prepaid card for any online transaction or any transaction I feel might be compromised. You just load whatever amount you intend to use on the card and the card isn't linked to your bank account |
abc115:Wow if this man had teamed up with Obi, they would have been unstoppable! |
Odunharry:That number 8 and 10 sha ![]() |
LilMissFavvy:I'm wondering why he should let go when she hasn't even apologized for an obvious wrong she did to the head of her home. The danger of the man taking the first step to make amends is that such actions from her will keep repeating itself in future because for her not to apologize means she hasn't even realized she did something wrong in the first place! Letting go by the husband should only come when she has realized the wrong she has done and duly apologized for it. That way, the likelihood of such shameful action from her occurring in the future will be mitigated. |
What surprises me about all this is the fact that you even came to nairaland to seek opinion when even a fool can tell you were obviously wrong. It shows you're too arrogant and unsubmissive as a wife. No decent man would want to be with such a woman. You hung up the call on the head of your home and still snubbed him for weeks, then the consequences begin to set in and you still came here for opinion on whether you did right or wrong? There's something obviously wrong with you. |
panafrican:They're now gradually suffering the consequences of adopting the American depraved culture |
thesicilian:I'm bigger than just being God's assistant. I'm his son |
lhordspy:You really think it's a joke. God is obviously not happy. What happened to Sodom and Gomorrah will be a child's play compared to what will befall these evil generations |
HAVANA — Hurricane Ian lashed Cuba on Tuesday with heavy rain and winds of up to 125 miles per hour, knocking out power to the entire island and killing two people, according to the authorities. The Ministry of Mines and Energy said the power grid had collapsed in the wake of the storm, leaving the country in the dark as it tried to recover from heavy flooding and extensive damage. Before the sun set, residents braved wind and rain to search for food and basic supplies, lining up under overhangs to buy a piece of chicken or a bottle of oil. At least two people were killed, according to local news reports. One was a man in San Juan y Martínez who was electrocuted while trying to disconnect a wind turbine that he used to irrigate his field. The second was a 43-year-old woman who died in San Luis when one of the walls of her house collapsed. Cuba’s western provinces, where the hurricane made landfall, have been the hardest hit. Videos shared on social media from the town of Coloma, along Cuba’s southern coast, showed people inside their homes with water up to their knees. The hurricane comes as Cuba continues to recover from one of the worst periods of financial hardship in the country’s history, with the nation’s ailing infrastructure already producing widespread power blackouts. The financial misery, along with ongoing political repression, sparked one of the largest protest movements in decades last year. The island has long borne the brunt of Atlantic storms. In 2008, two hurricanes, Gustav and Ike, blasted across the country, leaving at least seven people dead, damaging crops and buildings, and setting off more than 150 landslides in Havana. On Tuesday, flooding in western Cuba damaged houses and tobacco crops, an important agricultural industry. In the municipality of San Luis, north of the city of Santiago de Cuba, one of the largest tobacco growing areas had been decimated. Thousands of families were evacuated and widespread power outages were reported in the western city of Pinar del Río. Tourists in places like Varadero, a popular beach resort in the country’s north, were relocated to more secure locations. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/27/us/hurricane-ian-cuba.html |
Imagine these so called northern bigwigs have made this a tribal fight. Even after a northerner in Buhari is rounding up 8 solid years they're still pushing for another northerner and making it a tribal thing. Any southerner that votes for Atiku or another northerner is a surely big fool. |
No overhead bridges? |
Why not use that money to buy a good power station that can last you for years? |
Kajaard:That's the point! Are these black markets rates cheap? Infact I expect these black markets rates to get higher in next few months with this new bank card policy. Nigerians have been aware of the dorm account but resort to the banks because bank rates are cheaper. So the problem is not about opening a dorm account but where to source for dollars at a cheaper rate! I think that's what people should be talking about here! |
Kajaard:The point is not opening a dorm account. The point is where to source for dollars to fund the dorm account |
Inasmuch as I hate these LGBT things, there are certain things you know you can't physically fight against because they're being propelled from the spiritual and God is just permitting it to happen as a sign of the end times for his people. It's like a Christian praying that the antichrist would never manifest. We know such prayers may delay the antichrist but can't stop his coming because he has an agenda in this last days according to bible prophecy. For Jesus to return the antichrist must manifest himself, so praying against the antichrist is like saying you don't want Jesus to come back. Same things can be seen with the LGBT things. It's part of what scriptures say would happen in the last days just before Jesus comes. We can resist it as Christians but we should be glad that our salvation is drawing near and God is showing is that the rapture is seconds away from happening. So when you see these things and all kinds of evil, you should know that Jesus is on his way and get yourself and your loved ones even more prepared than ever. If I tell you the revelations I've been having these days about the rapture, you'd know the end is already upon us |
MasterJayJay:Thank you! Infact some local companies here sef manufacture transformers so I don't know what's the big deal in celebrating arrival of common transformers! Infact I remember while in secondary school a certain classmate of mine was so good he could use local materials to make very small transformers. |

, such that you will see so much ego, anger, unforgiveness over minor issues, how much more serious offense.
