I filled using biro
Using pc now tho
I am a student too but I guess yu can use ur parents tax
Am sure they know we don't pay tax yet

Lols Boss dont use ur parents tax number abeg grin

Tax number is nt something u share...just indicate no tax number or call FIRS.

You can get Tax number (TIN) from FIRS in all states. I think its free.

Just google how to get tax number in Nigeria....follow the migerianfinder.com website.

The tax number will be on the form of ur income tax clearance certificate
Didyu also fill ur form online

Achso!...so I presume u get the tax number if u re workin and for students how can they obtain this tax number?

I m nt filling the form Boss but its stated in the other form to fill using PC.it makes it more legible..

Nah...
All they said was to send the documents via courier or post...
They even said it wasn't compulsory to notify the embassy
I think yu might be right about the tax tho
And yes we do have a tax number

Okies then....

How do you obtain ur tax number?

Hi,

you have to mark Germany als the country of your Tax-Payments, cause you are gonna live there. If you plan to work besides studies, you have to pay Tax on your Income, if your Earnings are high enough.
In case you pay Tax within another EU-Country, you will pay no Tax or at least less Tax in Germany.

Greetings

Wrong!...

The question is

I am resident for tax purpose in Germany only.

I am resident for tax purpose in the following countries outside Germany.

Since u re nt residin in Germany yet....(as at the time u re filling the form)..tick the next box...and then state the country u re residin in (Nigeria) I dont know if we ve tax number if nt indicate no tax Number.

Applicants fillin that form re nt residin in Germany and when u get to Germany u get a tax number ...and the tax is normally deducted at source meaning they deduct tax before u get ur pay....even interests on bank deposits the bank deducts the tax on interests before payin the interests.

If in doubt call Deutsche bank and ask.

I may be wrong but this is my opinion.

Again Db needs to get their shit together....Just becasue of that stuff they re askin pple to go back to lagos and fill another form...as at yday they ve nt updated the form on their webpage....

I also think u ve to go back to the embassy to certify the Form again...

All d best pple.

Hi guys, i just realized that i was supposed to fill the DB form on a PC instead, i filled mine with pen. Though the form was colleceted from me at the embassy and i didn't realize my mistake as at that time. Please the gurus in the house, has anyone done this mistake before and was he able to receive a mail from deutsch bank?

I applied for it in Lagos since 22nd of dec 2015, next week tuesday will make it 5weeks and i'm yet to get a response yet. Has anyone received a mail from DB within this time frame in the past or has anyone who applied since mid december 2015 received an account opening mail from DB?

Before some guys will ask me to read the previous posts, i've done it religiously (both part 1 and 2) and the closest clue was that DB account opening takes 6-8weeks but my fear is that i filled mine with a pen.

Also, can i go ahead and apply for interview while waiting of the outcome of this with the slip i was given (the slip has just my name and date of application without signature on it).

I'm becoming worried now because the school's resumption deadline is 19th of march and i have limited time already.

Please help a brother...
Thanks

Call the embassy and inform them....if possible send another application cos it is stated explicitly in Bold on the first page to fill the Form online...

U can book an appointment with the slip i think....check the back of the slip..information on hw to book appointment is stated on the back of that slip.

An advise

Always try to read whatever document u re to fill or documents u receive.

University of Ulm? Finance? Bro, just run! As simple as that. Fortunately, i know two people in the programme, one in the 1st and the other in the 3rd. The latter came out best in his class in statistics while the former finished with a 1st class in maths, UNILORIN. The one from unilorin visited me here recently from ULM, and guess what? My first class friend was already sorting his application docs to other schools already while i remembered the other one was almost on the edge of quitting before i lost contact with him and they both said many had left.
I'm not trying to discourage you but i'm just painting a picture of what is obtainable there, you can actually go there and excel where they failed or more rightly, feared they would fail.

So because everybody dey run there now make he nor apply abi...

As u see me I don't like stress. I'm planning to go for the summer 2016 semester and by so doing I'll only be able to achieve A2. I just wanna know is A2 manageable as I'm tempted to shift to winter to get to b1 even if my uni-assist fees would be forfeited embarassed embarassed sad

I just wish I had not taken work more serious than language learning

With A2 u will be fine..and continue learning here...but one thing abt pple who learn the lang in Nigeria is that they TEND to ve problem with the accent at first but bounce back..A2 is okay!

You can

Take d lang course in d uni ( once a week) 1yr for one level...2yrs=Enterin B1..then after ur program u can do an intensive for 4mths to get to B2.

Also u can register for tandem program..also watch German Tv( kids channel: Kika .Disney or subtitled movies) d best..get a German babe or one that speaks German and english.

Abt Final grade...it can also be done....just look for a readin formula that will suit ur program...

Why then should you decide not to speak English when you know the person you are addressing doesn't understand English.

So you will learn...do Nigerians speak french with french speaking pple in Nigeria?

Advice learn the lang to at least A2 in Nigeria B1 if possible and if u re here learn on your own..watch German tv...do Tandem or anythin just learn the lang else u will be limited!

One thing I ve noticed is that english speakers re grossly arrogant and ve this mindset that they speak english and dont need to learn the host country's language( use to ve same mindset until I start to see jobs and opportunities pass me by nobody advise me)

You dont need to be fluent as a native speaker just put in some efforts ..most times they just wanna see if u re willing to learn the language or not.

Thanks for your info, I already book for a stay in a hostel. Any idea on how to secure a permanent accommodation. Yes indeed some Nigerians dey fall hand oo, last time that I visited I met some of them in Berlin, the worst part of it is that police hardly arrest them, I ask a German why is it that police is not arresting them, he said that police is turning blind eye on them because of those that are addicted in taken drugs, so that they will not die, but use to raid them if their activities becomes unbearable.

I thought as much....mehn the mac donalds area (close to bremen hbf) is always filled with drug peddlers.. I saw some one usin in the restroom...Bremen is something else ...I wish I knew earlier

Accommodation in Bremen is tough and frustrating...and like she said the Nigerianz there re nothin to write home about......to be honest I dont understand the city...comin from a city where Nigerians re willing to help..it beats me when I observe that some simpletons re fuckin selfish...I just smh...

Last week i travelled to Bremen twice for flat vewing ...mehn its crazy..u view a flat with abt 10 other applicants...and the landlords ask for so many dicuments as if I m applyin for a visa....kai!

You best bet is to contact pple in bremen that re on this board... thats if they will help...

I hope you find something and when u get there be d difference u seek!

You can use these webpages too
http://schwarzesbrett.bremen.de/
eBay Kleinanzeigen.

But they will ask u to come over as they wanna meet the tenant in person..seems like a norm there.

@ Pauluche, you are using your personal experience to generalize the whole scenario in German universities, in big cities many students are working and at the time going to school and passing their exams, some are even working in two different places. Some students married their German girl friend while doing their masters. The issue of failing or passing exam have nothing to do with clubbing or working, if someone is intelligent or have determination and can read and understand easily, you can club, work and still come first in the class. Some people are from rich family if they spend their 8040 finish their parent will send another one to them, some don't have and have to work to support their self. In all it depend on the goal that somebody set for himself. If somebody carry him head shook for only book for Germany the person will only allow the school to pass through him or her without allowing himself to pass through the school. All jack and no fun makes jack a dully, body nobi firewood, nwanne guys suppose explore Germany to be able to have a story to tell, gutter no dey block oo if someone is smart. Flexing is not bad oo if one do it moderately.

Bros chill...all these "workin 2 jobs" u don see their results? If person make bad result here e don finish o...baba dem nor dey see my mama know am na make dem gv me job o...

To get 1.0 (A+) na 95% ie 58/60 or 95/100

1.3 (A)abt 90% 90/100

1.7 -2.3(1.7-2.0=B, 2.3 =C) abt 80-90%

3.3 - 2.7 65%-80%

3.7- 4.0 50-65%

The pass mark in most uni is abt 50% ...50% for naija na C ..the person don dey form big boy abi. And A is 70% right?

No disrespect but nor be everybody when register as student be student some re here to work within that 2yrs and enjoy tax cuts as students(very common) and after they spend 3yrs in one uni they switch and continue from another uni.

Baba i will nt advise any new student to pick up a job during his/her first semester( my opinion). U need time to understand the system and then plan how to combine work and study...

If u ve a good grade in ur first semester ....u can apply for grants or look for jobs as Hiwi (student/research assistant)...it is nt that simple but it is possible...

And if u graduate with a good grade ...learn the language( even if nt as fluent as native speaker just show some commitment)..u can always find something to do and no one can take advantage of u cos their isa minimum amount u can earn with your degree. And if u dont wanna stay here with ur good grade u can find something elsewhere....

Intelligent or dull..u need time to understand these concepts as often at times they re new ..no thanks to our education system..at the end of the semester u may ve up to 300 slides with additional materials to study...

One lecture = ca. 20 slides
One semester =14 appointments with exercise if applicable.

One slide is abt 2 pages in textbook

in Nigeria u can go to club tonight and come write exam the next day (20 page course) and if u dont know u spy...but when u enter Hörsaal ( big lecture hall) and they tell u 3 per role( abt 3 free seats) and leave the next role empty....and duration 2hrs( u fit use 15mins dey read fhe question there)...Charlie body go tell u walahi. Or na oral exam...u open the door come meet 2 ot 4 profs all line question down...anxiety fit make u yarn trash sef...

to even write 2 exam one week na unwritten taboo.

I ve never written 2 exams in one week...the dept knows that these courses re bulky hence they ve at least a week interval btwn each exam and like uncle Futurewise talk if u fail 3 times u can never study that course again in Germany...if u even fail once the pressure is already on you

Baba make una leave club now and face book o... the thing dey hard the first semester but later come easy and if u miss am now baba forget am...e don go be that.

And to the other applicants this post is nt supposed to frighten u guys but sometimes we ve to say it the way it is ....prepare urself abeg and una when just land ...una don dey see am already..

It is doable...Hardwork Pays!.

All the best pple.

Why is getting accepted for Ph.D difficult ?

There are advertised Ph.D positions in some schools and I believe these slots are yet to be filled up .

Whats the procedure for applying for them and will I still need to hunt for project supervisors for advertised Ph.D positions ?

In addition to what @Rayhut and @obioraval has said.....

I will drop some websites for you to check phd positions because most times its advertised as a job. I think gettin a slot in engineering wont be difficult because most engineering grads go straight to industry after their MSc, to encoorage them to stay, its common to see reseach group paying 100% tv-l 13 for phd positions in engineering unlike natural science where we get 50% angry embarassed

check these websites

myscience.de
indeed.de
zeit.de
http://www.nature.com/naturejobs/science/jobs?job_type=PhD+Studentship

also use google search and check for research groups.
