FamilyRe: Crazy Brother In Law & My Gullible Sister by cindylee: 8:56am On Feb 22, 2012
Does your sister see anything wrong with it and if she does, is she crying for help or just complaining? Until she cries for help and says she needs a divorce before your family can step in. She has to learn her lesson herself so she does not blame the family later in the future if she remains single afterwards or things don't go according to plan. But your family still has to monitor the situation before it gets out of hand and lose a child. And again, one penny should not be given to the guy. Only your sister should get whatever money your family wants to send.

BTW your sister too rush abeg!

Most times the sentimental people do get it wrong. and just like i for one cant say anything tangible about Diamonds presidency, likewise i forsee the same fate for this GEJ admin (i pray i am proved wrong).
they tried it the following election and they failed the same way PDP will fail in the next election by Gods grace.
Abegi wetin Saburi come do after una come rigg the election? He made us to go on strike for many months and the authorities were looking for him. It was then during Faborode's Tenure as V.C and the guy no tolerate any nonsense from SUG Guys. At least during Diamond's time we only went home for two weeks and it was for mojo (mojo break) which was not his fault. No be democracy we dey again? How can so called progressives be rigging elections?

Jarus:

I still remember that election. It was like the GEJ election of last year. The ordinarily politically inactive, usually sentimental people were the ones that voted for Diamond(GEJ) while the progressives and politically actives were divided between Wale Eleto(Buhari) and Saburi(Ribadu) then.

I worked for Wale Eleto(my classmate and an avowed Marxist), but Diamond(like GEJ) won based on sentiments.

Ife campus politics na die
They tried repeating same thing next session but the poor guy was rigged out for Saburi(progressive candidate)  grin grin
Jarus so na una rigg the election and made O.K not to win. It is not fair at all angry . Girls were barred from voting in so many faculties and in others, if you say you were going to vote for O.K, they stop you. Later they stole ballot boxes and started thumb printing them for Saburi. The result of that election during Saburi's era was strikes and him going on suspension. Not always good to rigg. You see the so called progressives? We ended up staying at home for so many months.  angry angry angry angry

Won ti gba SUG" (the ladies have seized power, they are now occupying the SUG building) Come see curses Guys heap on this fellow. was really a scene grin grin  grin

Why we no go vote for am? He was cool, intelligent and fine  wink. And that Saburi guy was too notorious for our liking. The day he won eh, you needed to see Moremi hall! I miss Ife sha.
EducationRe: Celebrating Great Ife @ 50 by cindylee: 9:47am On Feb 09, 2012
2004-2008. I lived in Moremi in  my first year and finak year. 2nd year was spent in Ladoke Akintola Hall a.k.a sports hall. One of the dirtiest hostels I have ever stayed in my entire life. 3rd year was spent squating from one room to another beginning from town igboro(however it is spelt). I liked reading in Amphi theatre especially at night. Too many distractions but I love reading in a noisy place. I so  much liked risky burger and coke while sitting under those trees in frot of oduduwa hall.

I loved my fellowship then- R.C.F. Still miss it though as all these churches we have cant't be compared to the raw fire brand fellowships in schools then. I met Jesus on O.A.U Campus in my 1st year and spent so many years praying in sports complex. It really formed me.

Academic life was hectic. Reading as if there was no tomorrow. I can't even go back and do my masters there because I will read my eyes out. Great Ife!

One last thing, I enjoyed the aluta especially during elections. I campaigned for Diamond in my second year even though I did't know him personnally. He was a fine boy cheesy and gave us mirrors. lol

They shouldn't sack her yet o or she shouldn't step down now because the next person that comes would do worse because most Nigerians are corrupt! The processes and systems in that ministry should be revised and straightened out before anyone can come in if not, we will just be replacing one "corrupt" official with any more "corrupt" one!

FamilyRe: Save My Marriage Today - Is Divorce Your Way Out? by cindylee: 7:23pm On Dec 29, 2011
@debrief08 I don't mean to interfere or be rude but just an observation I made about you. I am kind of a silent commentator on Nairaland but I have been following the family section for sometime now. You so much talk about your first marriage that I feel if you have really let go and forgiven him, you would let it be and not refer to it. I couldn't help but notice your comments on your first marriage most of the time. Please just let it be! Since you have moved on, stop referring to it because you are happy at present and have found a wonderful man.

Like I earlier said, its just an observation I made and don't mean to be rude in anyway. I hope you take this in good faith.

PoliticsRe: The Victim President - Sam Omatseye by cindylee: 12:54pm On Nov 16, 2011
But the tragedy of Jonathan’s show of victimhood is that he is so Nigerian. Most Nigerians want to blame somebody else for their woes. If it is not their in-laws, it is their enemy in the village or the neighbour’s wife or the other ethnic group or the pagan, Christian or Muslim heretic. Jean Paul Sartre probably had Nigerians in mind when he quipped: “Hell is other people.”

If Jonathan embodies this flipside of the Nigerian character, how can he be transformational? He has not risen above the nether parts of the crowd. Herbert Spencer wrote about a cadre of leaders: “Before he can remake his society, the society must first make him.” The flipside of Nigeria made Jonathan, so how can he remake Nigeria? How can he be transformational?

Transformational leaders rise above the times. Jonathan should.

My best part of this article. We Nigerians, are our own problems. An average Nigerian that becomes president will behave exactly the same way. Thinking of ourselves and immediate family and nothing else. If something goes wrong pray and blame someone else.
FamilyRe: Who Should Take The Greater Share Of A Wedding Budget? by cindylee: 9:00am On Nov 16, 2011
It depends on the culture. In mine, for the traditional, its the bride's family and the white wedding is the couple's business. My parents will not spend a dime for the white wedding, so it then depends on the two of you. After the traditional wedding, you can go home with your wife. White wedding is not a must.
FamilyRe: by cindylee: 5:08pm On Sep 14, 2011
Na wa for some men o. If beating a woman would shut her up like some men say, then my mother should have been beaten like million times over. Not that I support the way some women talk or nag but I feel men should be men in all aspects and just walk away when the woman is nagging or insulting.

My father and even his friends all say the same thing when a man complains that a woman is nagging. Na woman, abeg leave am! My dad even says that if men were to beat women because of nagging, then most of the married women would be dead by now.

I respect my Dad so much. Some of the things he used to do, some men of nowadays would not do such because they would say it is a woman's duty. Beating a GROWN UP person is wrong no matter the provocation. Simple
Christianity EtcRe: Christian Romance Novel. Is It For Real? by cindylee: 11:01am On Sep 13, 2011
pendo89:
Op what is the difference between christian romance and secular romance. Are you implying that falling in love is secular?
Relax please and stop dragging the devil everywhere.

Do people speak in tongues, prophesy and see visions while romancing?
Do they carry bible when going out on dates? Do they only quote scripture and keep asking each other what the word of the Lord for the hour is? Does dating mean going for night vigils or church fellowships?
If it encompasses all the above then I can tell you this. You are no good for earth and you need to book a first class ticket to heaven very fast.

Lemmie just correct you here.A christian is a normal person with normal feelings. Don't spiritualise those feelings. It is WRONG.
Look here, you can be a hell of a romantic without engaging in some stuff.Once you understand the role of body ,spirit and mind you will learn to relax and live a normal life.
Do not be too spiritual for any earthly use because u become irrelevant.
So why do I like this post so muchhuh so k cool

CareerRe: Are Second Class Lower Graduates Still Relevant In Our Society? by cindylee: 10:44am On Sep 08, 2011
DaBeaver:
My point here is simple; Regardless of your class of degree, (in the words of Socrates) KNOW THYSELF! Believe in yourself! Invest in yourself! Develop yourself! Know where you are and where you are going! It is said that the world has a way of making way for the man who knows where he is going.
Of course, needless to say, KNOW THY GOD!
I love this part of your post. Most people who come out with 2:2 end up encouraging other people that na God or look at Wole Soyinka or Bill Gates and the rest. Whether na first class or second class, know thyself and keep on developing thyself. As simple as that.
PoliticsRe: Islamophobia In Delta, Boko Haram Now The New Name For Muslims by cindylee: 6:26pm On Sep 07, 2011
Even if some christains still follow old testaments, have you seen any of them kill in the name of Jesus or God in this modern day where everyone wants to enjoy life and follow the saying "live and let live". Even if the Quran tells you to kill other non muslims, can't they at least use common sense?

I am a christian and there are some things in the Bible that I interprete based on my understanding. Does that make make me a bad christian? Only God can tell and only him can be the judge! That is why christians have divergent opinions on some things concerning the bible. We are all looking forward to the last day, for now we know in part and learn in part and that is why we are humans.

If the God that I serve cannot defend himself when people profane his name, then I refuse to serve him and for now, he has promised me that on the last day, every one will know that he is God in the book of revelation. So why do I need to bother myself and start killing people who profane his name. He has only told me to preach his gospel and he says if they don't accept, I should just dust my feet against them and move to the next person. No be by force. Please lets learn to apply common sense and put religion aside in our dealings with fellow humans.

People when dey talk America, is America killing in the name of Jesus or God? Do all their wars have religious undertone? Why must all their terrorism have Islam as thier theme? Even the Yoruba muslims, the northerners say they are not true muslims because they live peacefully among christians.

Anyway, I have muslims as friends in the office and at home and that is why I can't say all muslims are violent or call them names.

PoliticsRe: Islamophobia In Delta, Boko Haram Now The New Name For Muslims by cindylee: 9:26am On Sep 07, 2011
Muslims covering from head to toe are not common in Delta. While growing up I only saw christains and the first time I saw a muslim dressed like that was in the university and I stared like I just saw a ghost. To prevent attack, muslims in Delta should just dress conventionally like other people.

Even me for lagos dey fear all dem hausa okada riders. Different thoughts come to my head when I see any one of them in the same bus with me.
