It beats my imagination..... Is it really possible?[/color]
exactly. Especially in the Nigerian situation. I feel sorry for old people I see living alone in the villages.
I imagine they must be so lonely.

My grandma couldn't stop crying when my youngest aunt got married. She said nobody to be with her again as my grand dad is late and she's always so lonely embarassed.

Old age can be lonely from what I see.

Family › After 21 Years, his Wife Made Him Take Out Another Woman. by cococandy(op): 3:54am On May 06, 2015
I just saw this sweet post on Facebook and thought of sharing..
After 21 Years Of Marriage, His Wife Made Him Take Out Another Woman.

We often take for granted what's been in front of us the whole time. This man's wife just wanted him to realize that.
...

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She said, "I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you."

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my mother, who had been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my 3 children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.

"What's wrong, are you well?" she asked. My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or surprise invitation is a sign of bad news.

"I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you," I responded. "Just the two of us."

She thought about it for a moment, and then said, "I would like that very much."

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary. She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an Angel's. "I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed," she said, as she got into the car. "They can't wait to hear about our meeting."

We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. "It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small," she said. "Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor," I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation — nothing extraordinary but catching up on recent events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie. As we arrived at her house later, she said, "I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you." I agreed.

"How was your dinner date?" Asked my wife when I got home.

"Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined," I answered.

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her. Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place where mother and I had dined. An attached note said: "I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there; but nevertheless I paid for two plates — one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me."

"I love you, son."

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: "I love you," and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till "some other time."

Kind of sad if you ask me.

Gbam!
mentorandfriend:
I'm very careful about faceless people on a faceless forum. Here on nairaland, I observe that it is usually faceless people without display pictures that are the most vulgar, most insultive, lacking any sense of decorum. Some even hide behind pics of celebrities or outright cartoon images while they unleash their sauciness, cockiness and hatred on every meaningful thread.

So what do I do? Here on nairaland, when a person quotes me with an intention to brew up an e-brawl, I immediately check his/her dp. Once that person is not represented on his/her dp, I ignore the hater/pretender. I only engage people who are bold enough to show me what they look like. To me, nothing beats seeing who I'm communicating with.

I apply the same rule on facebook where I have a large number of facebook friends. I will never accept a friend request from anyone who has no profile picture, because they are the ones who bash your updates, bash your pictures uploads. They do it wearing the mask of no profile picture. They never have a kind word for you. Once you receive notification that such a person commented on any of your post, your heart skips a beat first.grin

So I see nothing wrong in someone having his/her picture on display, and I also cant say that those who change their dps often are immature. I only know a mature person when he/she talks/comments or when we engage in a discourse.

Family › Re: Why Do People Deactivate And Return? by cococandy(f): 2:49am On May 06, 2015
tell me about it.

Sometimes I wonder what some one like that could really be thinking.
do they really believe someone moved out of NL because of them or is it just one of those kind of talks people do when they don't have anything else to say.

But then they may really believe it given that one idiot was sending me emails how about how himself and 'his boys' ( pause to laugh grin) will run me out of NL like they've done to others before.

Narcissistic is a very lenient term.

fellis:
I've never understood people like that. Their narcissistic self delusion is on another level entirely.
Anything you do on Nairaland is because of them.
If you deactivate its because of them, If you fail to post for a while its because of them, if you post a certain way, its also because of them.
I remember one telling shollypopz that I and 99cent ran off Nairaland because he defeated us in an argument. That was at a time when we hadn't come online for a while.
What a clown.

its not a strict diet, just a carb control diet that will let me determine how much calories I need to eat everyday to lose a little weight and remain the same weight. I'll end it soon after my first month subscription because it is expensive and I don't even like their angry

For fun I think.(at least for someone like me)
For a new style of writing. I guess.
Or Some deactivate because they just want to change name, or be absent for a while and Concentrate on other issues.

Someone like me is very impulsive and may decide to change to something fruitier just for the heck of it grin

But i won't do that since I've seen that when you deactivate some people begin to feel like you did it because of them. I've seen some fools going around blabbing how they bashed someone and that person deactivated because of them.
Like their keypads can kill someone grin. How silly!

For that reason, if I was going to change to 'strawberryfondue' it will remain cococandy cheesy
So that some asiwine somewhere won't attach too much importance to why I chose a different name.

OP read this comment again and again and again
NobleG1:

I picked up that word "ORDER" from your writeup. You may want to look in the mirror because the person you'll see there may be the problem.

You can't order your wife around. She's your wife and partner NOT your slave or housegirl! Your mentality is the same with most Nigerian men who see their wives as maids or second-class humans. Respect is reciprocal.

For the fact that she consults google on any subject of discussion with you means you've been very wrong many times and failed to admit it. Google is a very important source of any info. about anything that exists today.

So don't attack her for trying to be well informed. I'll advice you to google stuff more to avoid embarrasing yourself in the midst of educàted people. Don't let your pride to get in the way and be open-minded because you have a smart wife. Trust me, you don't want a wife who agrees with you on everything, even when you damn wrong.
