I put her through rigorous tests like starving her of money, complaining a lot, keeping another girl and generally misbehaving once in a while. She was still religiously accomodating, forgiving, loving and highly respectful. I wasnt satisfied. I think the people with real issues are those that stalk other people's DPs to know when they've changed or not. If you check someone's profile once and have a face to attach to the name, that's enough. (even though 99% of the time you may not remember the face when next you read the comment) If you go clicking and re-clicking their profiles, Na you know wetin you dey find. Tell yourself the truth. In ideal cases, a person must sound very smart and admirable for one to even bother to check their profile. If you find yourself knowing when people change their DPs and how often they do, believe you have a problem and need to work on your stalking tendencies especially if it is on NL that DPs don't pop up in every post like Facebook or Instagram and you've to click on their profile all the time to know if there's a change or not. I may change my profile like once a month or once in two months, but I don't consider myself more mature than one who changes everyday. Guess why? Because I don't care what they do with their pictures. In fact time to change DP now |

Family › Re: Must We Bury People With Fanfare? , Rantings allowed. by cococandy(f): 1:17am On May 05, 2015 |
In my place you can't go to inform your relatives of someone's death in the family without wine. If you want to go inform his or her people from the maternal side, you'll go with a goat. Or else nobody will give you face.(except they are understanding) Then on the burial proper, his maternal family will take a cow home. And you will give umunna cow plus the general cow for the festivities. That's a minimum of 3cows. If he or she is a titled man or woman, you will give the titled men and women of the land a cow too. His age grade will collect their own cow too. The only excuse is if you're so poor you can't afford a cow for each of these then you can plead to substitute with ewu awusa(ram) not lanky Igbo goats. But no matter how poor you are, his mother's people MUST take their cow.them no dey gree for substitution. Even if it is a slim teenage cow they can manage that one. At a time people were leaving their loved ones in the morgue for months to raise money to bury them until the bishops put a stop to it. if you're catholic, you'd have to do it without 3weeks or he church won't partake in he burial. So you've to run 'helter-skelter' to raise the money in a few weeks or you could chose to do it without all that pomp/pageantry and have the umunna give you trouble afterwards. What a wasteful aspect of culture |

nairalife2013: My wife turned bad two years after marriage. She was a perfect companion when we were dating.in the early times, I put her through rigorous tests like starving her of money, complaining a lot, keeping another girl and generally misbehaving once in a while. She was still religiously accomodating, forgiving, loving and highly respectful. I wasnt satisfied. I craved to see the worst in her, so I had to one day feign anger over a little kitchen error she committed. I had to gritt my teeth and do something venom-inspiring. Am a goodman no amount of punishment over and error am guilty of can turn me against my wife or any1 else, no matter the weight. If she is a wrong lady, she will display it today in her full glory. I wanted a wife I can trust. I dindt want to repeat the errors my parents made. That day I battered and pushed her out of my house into the rain and locked my door. The nite was just begining to inherit the earth. Time was 6.30pm nairalife2013: The kind of woman I married are few. She hung at d door and cried and told me she was so sorry abt what she did. I was crying inside as she spoke amidst sobs. My heart bled. But I had to do it. I was abt to hand my life to some1. I needed the best. I did dat to two other ladies who coursed me and left my life for good. But this one wept and told me she so much loved me her life could crash or end by heartache if she left, and she confirmed she couldn't live a day without me. I would hav deciphered if she was feigning remorse. It wouldn't take me long. I am who I am. I opened the door and brought her in. Till today she is not aware I faked that angst. I loved her more. I was loaded widout her knowledge. I got her her first car, a saloon as I proposed to her. She was just entering sch. We got married. She took in. At delivery of our first child, I got her a suv. We were young and full of life. I was living my life just to give her joy and all necessities of life. I loved her beyond words. When she took in for our second child, the conception was at a time a terrible moodswing hit my wife. I thot she had changed. She would pick up argument s with me and make faces a whole week just for no just cause. She quarreled wid my younger sisters at any slight provocation and sat all day in an unkempt home watching her regular, favourite fbi action movies. I was mesmerized. Little thins piss me up. But I endured this one. I was afraid somthing was wrong. After delivery of our second child, abt a year later, Like some1 that woke up from a nightmare, My wife came to me and complained she involuntarily wakes every morning with bouts of indescribable anger flourishing in her heart. Since that day I knew it was my turn by providence to show love and tolerance and understanding. I did. My wife went thro those tormentous days without knowing the reason why she was so angrily depressed. One day, She went consciously to my sisters and apologized. Spent more time with them and amended all errors. It's some years now and all those trying times are over, leaving behind funny reminisces only a good heart could understand. When a lady is good, she is good. Your own goodness tho might be regarded as weakness or greed by an incompatible third party. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I do not regret my actions. Those ladies whose level of tolerance where below my recomended average had departed in good fate. I wished them luck and enduring love. My wife is now working and her welfare package, large as it is, is in my control on her insistence, with total abandon! She is selfless to a fault and prefares a one-lady lifestyle, upon the trappings of life chance and time have bestowed on her at her young age. ... My wife told me once: I see u not only as my husband but also as my father; reprimanding me in any way, as a father would her daughter, is lovingly accepted by me cause I trust yur sense of judgment and our kids would obey u for good if I myself obey u and succumb with respect; I love u to that point." ... There are many eager males and plenty of willing females in the world. If u stumble on yur right choice, love can let u into limitless tolerance. Many ladies are possesd by the destructive spirit of subconscious pride and seemingly suppressed self ego. The last creatures to know they need help allround. The few that are free hardly preach to their kind, The Message. Instead they vent the opposit of the message. Dont do like me. I personally do not tally well long enoff with ladies who do not have the habit of accepting defeat wether they are right or wrong. Those type are good for one nite stand levels not for running a home. Pls find a way to be patient. If she is inherently a-self-worth-type of lady, u need to work harder on tolerance and never let yur praying knees get lazy. Goodluck. |

Awww. Hotstepper: Hahaha. Time really do flies ooo. Now to my story.
While in the university, apart from lectures and hanging out with friends especially during summer, I come on NL to pass out time and answer questions especially in Education and Travel. In the course of this hobby of mine, I met a friend here and we just became friends and briefly saw him when I went to Nigeria for Xmas hols.
We remained friends and he was on clutches and jobless. I spent a lot of time online chatting with him and a lot of money making phone calls. He had potentials because he was on clutches and in pain yet looking for a job because where he was working before didn't want to take him back.
At a point, because of slow Internet service in cafes at that time, I asked him if it's OK for him to send me his CV and details of his email and he did. I re did his CV and started helping him to apply for jobs since my Internet service was fast. I would apply and call him to tell him the places I applied and what position incase he gets call from them.
He got called for test and interviews for some but didn't get the job and I would always tell him not to worry that he will get. In his own part, he stopped telling me when he has interview so I don't get to tell him not to worry that he will get the job.
One faithful day in 2009, he called and was so excited and I could hear noise from the background and all he could say was that I should marry him and we will get married that same year. Mine you, this was in July and we are both jobless as I was doing my 2nd degree at that time. I.told him how can two jobless people get married? He laughed ehh and then told me he has gotten a job and I now came to understand that it's with a very good company, a multinational at that.
As usual I visited that year for Xmas and he proposed and the following year we got married as it was the same year I graduated. Not up to 4 months after out wedding, he bought me a car.
Mind you even his parents had people they wanted him to marry but he said it must be me because I stood by him when he had nothing and we're where these girls then. On my own part, my friends were telling me how can I be dating a jobless man and a man in clutches when I had wealthy suitors from here and some from she'll and chevron etc from naija.
I saw the potential in him even with his clutches and I knew he would make me happy now matter how much he is making. I am happy because after everything, he appreciated it and shows it. He is a good man, ambitious and goal oriented.
We are happily married with two lovely children, both born in Canada .
Ladies if you see someone that has potential please stick with him.and encourage him |

Her reaction was human. Picture a pregnant woman with all its attendant wahala laboring to put all that together and his reaction is rejection because he wasn't informed on time. Do you think you yourself would take kindly to being told off and your food rejected like that. You would just act like there's nothing wrong there? pls she reacted anyway a normal person would except you're expecting her to have the patience of a saint and walk on egg shells around him all her life. netotse: There isn't enough information about her husband for me to suggest but let's turn it around, do you seriously believe saying you can go and do it yourself was the best way?
There's a lot of good advice on the issue, particularly the post from a website that talks about responding and not reacting, I think abuse is wrong on all counts no matter the reason and should be treated as such...abuse. What I don't agree with is turning what should be a clear and concerted response to bad behaviour into a fight. I'm all for telling the man off if he steps out of line but it must be done properly, thinking that you can use evil eye and threaten everyman and it will work is just setting people up for failure, what worked for Obi wont work for Tola and Adamu.
For the umpteenth time, The man is wrong from the info we have on this issue, irregardless of what happened, he swore to honor and protect and etc ati be be lo his wife and should not for any reason have acted like he did. |
