coogar:The way its going seems Chelsea and Man city will have to fight hard to get anything. Hazard just scored. |
nitrogen:There is no reason why we should not finish as the top 2 this season. Just that the injuries have decided to concentrate on one area of the team the most or the two people earmarked for a particular position both get injured. See how it made a lot of sese taking out RVP for Falcao and the threat level was maintain (assuming both have been in form & injury free) The injuries are so annoying. |
afrodoc:We are being sentimental about who should play. This formation is soft. We have a lot of good players vying for few positions that makes it difficult for us to choose. Many plyers have even gotten chance to play because of the injury problems we've had and when they came in they played well. Fellaini, Herrera and Blacket comes to mind. In a 4231 formation! RB - Rafael when he is injured we draft someone else who is not naturally a left back. CB - Evans, Smalling, McNair, Rojo, Jones we need just 2 for a game. LB - Blackett/Shaw Pivot - Blind, Herrera, Carrick, Fletcher Fellaini we need just 2 in a game. LW - Young/Di Maria CM - Rooney/Mata RW - januzaj/Valencia S - RVP/Falcao Hope I did not leave anyone out. The 352 LVG is trying to deploy even makes choosing players more complicated. Some big names will sit on the bench if everyone is fit, just like how everyone felt Herrera had been freezed out. If we buy strootman/Vidal and bring back Nani and hernandez. Well ur guess is as good as mine...... |
afrodoc:Anderson would have done better than Fletcher yesterday! StarBoard:Most likely! The koko is for us to just keep coping the 3points. |
SailorXY:It makes our win worth it as chelsea dropped points today. City vs S'ton don't even know what I want from this match sef. |
Maybe am too anxious for the team to excel. I still feel the players caress the ball too much and are always looking for safe side/back passes. Something we accused cleverly of. Am happy we got the 3points and know this will instill more confidence in the team, I just want them to be more ruthless going forward. Hull were rubbish and we should have punished them more. I would like to see more forward passes attempted and player touching the ball just twice (once to control and the next touch is an attempted passes forward) atleast most of the time. We had 81-19 ball possession today, most of those passes were in our own half. Anyways the 3points is most important, we had less ball possession against AssAnal and still got the 3points. I love to see Falcao infull flight just like his interchange with Mata and his attempt on goal. That's the kinda movement I want to see regularly. |
chrisley024:I swear! |
Abeg Falcao should come in for RvP! Just that this side/back passes will frustrate any striker who needs the ball early. RvP is either playing too wide or too deep and when he gets the ball he seems unsure of himself. |
Nobody is even attempting any defence splitting pass because Rvp is completely disconnected. This hull team is there for the taking. See how a forward initiated pass has made Rooney score now. They need to attempt short onetime forward passes in the final 3rd and this hull team will crumble. Loading them with 5goals will not be a bad idea. |
We have possession but when our players get the ball they seem to first turn backwards which for me is irritating. To many unnecessary side and back passes. Rvp na short one. |
Na wa oo one game one injury!! |
SailorXY:RvP needs to sit on the bench na. He has not contributed anything meaningful this season. A goodrest/spell on the bench should do him some good. |
Karleb:I had to use X ray glasses to be sure! He does not even feature in the makeshift games. Was he injured or he had not shed of enough weight to play. I hope LvG gives him a chance again, just that things are quite complicated and there too many players jostling for positions that might make that not happen. |
That Nani's goal reminds me of what Okocha did to Oli Khan in the BuLi when he was at eintract Frankfurt. |
SetrakusRa:Adulterated wet cannabis for that matter. . . . . . ![]() |
Nihilist:Off course we acknowledge that our football can be better than what we are serving and if its luck that has gotten us to the fourth position especially with the amount of injuries that has characterised our season, then wait and see when we finally have fit players and play like the Man U everyone knows we are. Chelsea is soaring high at the moment, sooner a bumpy run will come and we will see how you will cope. We will soon unleash Falcao on the unfortunate teams we meet soon. |
I. Just hope we improve from here. 4th on the table is not bad at this stage. If I was Lvg, Di Maria will kneel down hands up close his eyes in the emirates car park for like 3hrs for missing that chance. It was a disgrace for a player of his supposed calibre. When are we gonna unleash Falcao, I feel he should be eased in by subbing him and VP in the striking role cause I think VP needs to warm bench small. Either falcao starts and vp comes in later or vis versa. There were good individual plays, but as a team we still need improvement. I know we will get there. |
coogar:SailorXY's formation is what I would go with. I also don't think we would have shipped in 4goals with that formation. Maybe we could have reverted to the 352 formation when shaw got injured. That would have been understandable, not starting with it. Di Maria actually helped out defensively today. Although Arsenal were chasing the game, but we looked better when we reverted to 4 at the back with Blackett Smalling McNair and valencia with fletching covering, even though we were under pressure we seemed to have been able to work the ball out more comfortably for a counter. Its unfortunate Rooney was called off and Di Maria fluffed that chance, there were other times we broke out and caused them problems. The 352 is new and the players are not exactly comfy with it. It shows in there lack of belief when in possession. This win just makes the formation look good cause its our first away win and we did it at Arsenal. |
coogar:I acknowledge that the injuries have caused us problems this season, but am also saying the players don't seem to to be comfy with the formation. We play like we don't even know whether to attack, sit and counter or just park the bus when we adopt that formation. Its like the players just use instincts to go forward because they feel they have to. They only take the initiative when we go a goal down. Thank God that did not happen today. We should be playing like we did when went a man down in our last match, those 10players were more positive than some of the dismal performances we have had when we had 11men on the pitch. We were lucky today! But again we might play 22222 in our next match since Shaw has decided to join the injury list. Pls do we have a sexy fine babe in our medical team because the way these players are getting injured is becoming rather suspicious! |
StarBoard:Am just happy we got the 3points. But am still not convinced we now have formular of some sort. I know the injuries have played a big part in our selection this season which to a large extent has affected our play, but as we have observed on this forum this 352 get as e be for us oo. Once again, nice 3points. |
![]() Di Maria needs to be flogged with peppered koboko for missing that. |
Odunharry:McNair and especially smalling have had good games! |
chrisley024:Omo this is all I want. The 3points because we are playing nonsense. Now that they have helped us score I hope we can hold and catch them on the break. How that Di Maria pass to Rooney was adjudged offside is beyond me. I swear, De gea is like 2people playing for us. |
Leyqute:Blackett too. This is what G neville was saying, there are too many safe passes. Are we playing for a draw? This is the kinda game we should be winning. Well...... We are still in the game sha. Na this kain game I just need 3@oints anyhow it comes I don't mind even if na own goal from wenger. See where newcastle dey now. Chai... |
chrisley024:Our players seem not to have understood this 343 formation. In their mind it simply means we will be on the defensive. Why LvG can't see this beats me. This is not the dutch national team na. Di maria is lost, Rooney just roaming and VP is a defender. The defence just boots the ball upfront and it comes back. Have we even threatened at all. It does not even look like we are trying to soak pressure and hit on the counter, I don't see any plan with this team/game. I know we are playing away, but.....aahhh!!! |
mcfarlin:i totally agree with G Nevile. Blind actually plays too many square balls infact most of our players these days seem to be afraid of making intelligent incisive forward passes. i have kept on saying that if you watch bayern, real madrid and Barca to an extend they dont dwell on the ball in their half making silly side passes that dont mean nothing, 3 - 4 passes and they are in their opponents final third looking for a through pass on someone is taking a shot on goal. we lack that, always struggling to keep possession in areas that don't matter. we need to dorminate and bring back the fear factor. |
This thread en....... Nawa ooo Dadehmola:Wetin happen. Him dey straff LVG pikin? |
elampiro:We were all kinda impressed how we played when we went a goal down even with the man down. Why we don't play like that when we are complete still baffles me. We seem contented passing safe balls btw the defenders. We shud be doing more incisive passes. Watch Real, Barca and Bayern, they don't pass the ball unnecessarily amongst themselves. 2-3 passes most times and someone is attempting to score. |
Can we even compare Moyes' post match comments with LvG? You could feel his lack of confidence and low level mentality when he speaks. Nothing to inspire the players at all. Moyes was a disaster! |
. |
Nihilist:I really don't want to get into a Rooney argument! Why will I play De gea in the CM, he is a keeper and knows how to hold his own in his preffered position. Please tell me why is Rooney shunted left right and center? What is Rooneys preffered position? |
Nihilist:So because Rooney was playing in the midfield means he can't influence the game or take the game by the scruff even score? This thing am saying no start today ooo. Sometimes when a player plays rubbish or an average game but scores, we can forgive that player, but when he does not score and had an average game which is not expected of such a player. It becomes glaring. As for RvP, I just tire.... He is playing his preffered position, still yet we see abysmal performances. I will soon he hear he was not fed the ball. The one wey we give am wetin him do? When I watch a Madrid, Bayern and Barca play, they play like they are looking for something. . . Incisive passes that are to create problems for the opponents. Many might not go thru but they keep on trying it until it gels. We just enjoy passing the ball amongst the defenders like it is going out of fashion. We can't even dominate sef. How does Ronaldo and Messi continually stay fit, playing and influencing every game? |
