Scholesy played well cause it was nite? grin grin Very Funny, Continue to eat your heart out tongue tongue

So whats the comparison for or excuse now, United hired Taylor to do DuDu in so that Tevez will excel or it was because of Dudu's injury Ass Anal lost out out on the trophy's chase grin grin.

We have earned the rite to hype whatever player we want to, guess whathuh United just did the double, what can you say bout your sorry Ass team. There is rancour amongst the team and Fans, Nairaland can atleast attest to that tongue tongue tongue.

@tkb
Am not being complacent, knowing other teams have been the ones doing the buying, lots of re-enforcement amongst the other teams and its not yet 31 Aug. Its sure gonna be tougher next season, but we have the team to be in the mix any time any day.

Torres/Keane combo. . . . . . . This everyone needs to observe closely to see what will come out of it. Really looks good on paper.

@tkb,

Its practically the team that prosecuted the quest for the double we won last season. I just wanted to emphasis that we are fully packed and our second team can challenge for trophies in the Prem if given the chance, thats how strong a team Fergie has managed to build.

The very interesting thing is there are players that can play multiple roles in the team, which for me is a very big plus.

Did not see the game with pompey, but If scholesy is hitting form again, he mite again Delay Anderson from making that midfield his. i sooooooooo believe in that Anderson guy to deliver when called upon.

Leave Levy alone, He will buckle when the time comes. I did not think they would allow Keane go but, alas.

@ Mancs

What do you guys think bout this team.

                                                                    VDS/BF/TK

 Neville/wes                                                 Vidic & Rio                                                  Silvestre/Evra

                                                                 Hargo/Carrick

Ronaldo/park                                             Anderson/scholes                                Nani/Giggs

                                                                       Tevez/Rooney

                                                                      Manucho/Berba(if it falls thru)

O'shea
Eagles
Fletcher
Saha
Simpson

Looks as if we dont have direct replacements for our CB, but adjustments can be made drafting hargo, O'shea, silvestre and wes into the defence to accommodate any sort of injuries. we seem to have at least 2players for every position and for me thats a good thing going into this campaign.

What u guys think?

Well well well, i guess its down to who the gaffer finally acquires next season
me thinks that there is no need for a hunterlaar if we can get Berba.
Hunterlaar should only be a second choice should the deal for Berba fail to go through
I guess the like s of Le Chac will be praying ceaselessly for it to fail
I have no objection to whom is to be acquired any of them will be a hit should they come though i maintain that Hunterlaar will take a longer time to fit in
You can imagine how Chelseas should be pumelled with the chance in the first half of the UCL had we a striker like any of Berba or Hunterlaar
The fact remains that i would prefer a Berba to a Hunterlaar.
We would have saved Terry those miserable tears grin grin grin grin

I am not in doubt the quality of Hunterlaar nor his knack for goal
But my issue with him is that you cannot compare his quality with Berba.
You are talking of someone who has spent 2 season's in England to someone who has only played in his home country
English football has soo evolved that you don't just come in and smack your way in without a prior experience particularly for strikers
Also the game in England is not just fast, its VERY physical and i dare say at this point, that its more physical than what you have in Italy now. e.g A.C Milan v Arsenal
Hunterlaar will need at least 12 months to gel in United and i can't trade a well grounded and experienced Berba for him where i to be the gaffer
Berba is good in the air, can be a supporting striker (which u claim he is. I don't see him as such. he swaps often with Keane)
Berba is a gama reader and can influence your attacks very well. You have failed to realise that any time he plays well Tottenham gets a good result
Check out out league match last season at White Hart Lane, Carling Cup finals with Chelski and also The Carling Cup Semis with Arsenal.
He is also good in the air, very witty and has a great ball positioning, intuition and ball sense. Imagine him as the one man up front. His only down side is that just like most strikers, he isn't blessed with speed. You can't have it all though.
Not to say he doesn't have his down sides but the positives far out weigh the negatives. So for crying out loud, you Hunterlaar WON'T be an instant
hit at O.T. I would even prefer Manucho to come in place of him. cheesy
I guess he lost the opportunity to sell himself at the Euros. Because whether or not the English league is better or not, i don't see who could have played the right wing better than Kuyt for the Dutchs. I bet if there where, the person would have gone ahead of Kuyt. Also mind you that every coach has a reason for choosing a player. He gets a place in Rafa's selection because of his defensive qualities and fitness. My point is, if Hunterlaar WAS THAT GOOD, he should be able to hold down a place in the Dutch team regardless of what league he plays in and who was playing. If you say he was chosen ahead of RVN, was RVN never substituted? Why was he not the one to replace him? The strikers for Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal and Russia has never played in the English league yet they proved themselves at the tournament. David Villa for instance was the Ballon D'Or winner for the tournament. So Le Chac, I think Berba will achieve more than Hunterlaar. You might say the price is higher but not comparing him to Hunterlaar.
First of all i think any of these players, Hunter or Berba will be an instant hit at United cause of the quality we have in the team.

The argument is for who would be more preferably now as things stand in United, i would go for Hunter, not because i think Berba cant cut it at United, but because we need someone whose soul purpose is to fucking Tuck the ball in the net period!!!!

The bolded statement simply adds credence to the fact that we do not need any one who would swap positions with a support striker, which we have an abundance of. But to simply Finish any moves that would have been created by other players.

We have hustlers in the team in the form of Anderson, Rooney and Tevez who can cause defenders to make mistakes and no better person to be the one to capitalise on loose balls by tucking them in as The hunter. Ronaldo seems not to be going anywhere and if he produces half of what he produced last season i think we would be on our way to winning the League.

It makes more sense to me if we have an attack combo of manucho and Tevez or Hunter and Rooney. Playing berba with any of rooney or Tevez is akin to what we had last season Rooney/Tevez combo.

Emperoh:
I get your point but the issue here is
RVN didn't play all 90mins in all the matches. My question and curiosity becomes
why not Hunterlaar in place of RVN when there is a substitution instead of RVP?
I think i goes to explain his quality to a good extent
Dayo already answered this but RVN plays for REAL, a big club in a big league and RVN was/is in form and has played in about three different leagues where he has always been a success. Choosing Hunter over him for get as e be. Again the dutch were doing ok in the tournament until they finally showed what stuff they were really made of grin grin

if we can get berba for 22mill and if they can get the best out of that 'slave', then we should be able to retain all our trophies.

In the EPL, who are the contenders
United, Chelsea, Pool, Arsenal, Pompey and Spurs
Pompey and Spurs i think will just act as spoilers to the top four. I'm having this feeling the two clubs will be very tough this season.
Liverpool: with the rotation manager still in place, then nothing extraordinary will happen
Chelsea: hmm, with a new manager(brasilian), i expect serious wahala from these guys. im only praying for Carlvalho, makalele, lampard and Drogba to leave. if these guys leave, then the job is half done
Arsenal: no contest. fifth position

In the UCL
Real, Barca, Juve, Inter and Bayern will try to wrestle the trophy away from us
Not to forget the EPL oppositions also. its going to be another interesting and explosive season. barring injuries, then from our side, we are well stocked to deal with any opposition

what do u guys think?

@tkb

In all this, do u know what am really glad about. i'll tell you.

The fact that we are talking bout getting 2 quality players, we fans agree both are quality players and cannot really settle for who Fergie should get.

Berba and Hunter, with the sublime passes from scholes, carrick, fighters like Hargo and Anderson, skills from Nani and CR7 and players like Rooney and Tevez who would harrass any defence to get a headway. i think any of them will do just fine.

28millions is a lot of money to pay for Berba, but like someone pointed out, he is there priced asset and they believe (in their minds grin) that they should be in the top 4, hence the price. But if we get him for that amount and we win trophies in the next season, then its money well spent. We cant see buying Berba with 28million and then come 2nd in the PREM with 1000000points and think its an improvement.

CR7 was already getting on ma nerves and i was wishing Fergie would just flogg him off, Bt i think He(fergie) still has plans for him. Lets see how he manages the situation when CR7 comes back. Remember the incidence with Rooney at the world Cup. he translated it into an awesome partnership.

Rooney just got married, i dont think he would allow them kidnappers keep him away from colleen, he wud bring out his street wise arrogant attitude and would escape cool. Well am not bovvered as it is planed by Gaynners, they might just count ATTEMPTING TO KIDNAP as success, if they can see finishing 3rd/4th as some sort of improvement. grin grin grin

Tevez is a south American, He would learn them the ART of kidnapping. cool cool

I donno what Saha has don to Hargo!!! But he berra get fit before the seson starts we need him, atleast to score some of them sublime freekicks, like the one that finally buried a certain Ass Anal tongue tongue tongue.

Berba or Hunter.

Have been reading your debates between u & Hannibal.

Man, thats a tough one, i've always thot we strongly need an out-out striker in the mode of the hunter, cause Berba is quite withdrawn in his approach as a top striker. but truth be told i think his qualities will do us a lot of good if Fergie gets him. He can only improve playing with quality around him(sorry spurs tongue). His experience in the PREM is another Advantage.

Hunter is young and a deadly point man who knows how to finish as expected, will he be able to cut it in the PREM or in UNITED for that matter? That will be left to be seen. Again quality around him might make him a feared striker in the PRem.

Ma choice!

i would go with Hunter, simply cause we have Rooney and Tevez who are also withdrawn strikers.

then Fergie would look for a match for the 4 strikers.

which pair would gel better leading our attack,

Manucho & Tevez or Rooney & Hunter or whatever Fergie wants to do.

The RED and WHITE ARMY will keep marching on
For some fans like Niterider, there might be a thin line between DELUSION and LOYALTY. grin grin

Supporting a team that plays good passing football is not a bad thin in itself but when that team goes trophyless for long spells, some LOYAL fans will start to question there allegiance to the team. We have seen and heard from them on this forum and one can guess which team fans they were.

The main goal for the EPL competition is to win trophies, and if that is not achieved by a suppossedly top team in the PREM, then it should be viewed for exactly what it is FAILURE!!!!!!!!!

Teams like Everton, MAn City, tottenham can count finishing in the top 4 as success in the PREM, but when a team like Arsenal starts viewing finishing 3rd or 4th as some sort of achievement , then something is wrong somewhere. tongue tongue

lucabrasi:
well again its your opinion but i disagree,as for saying the wrong thing i disagree again, the man is not even involved in this discussion and i only read his statement and i totally get what he s saying,i have given the reasons continually why i think its not a wrong move

i wont for the sake of argument say that he is putting pressure on yar adua, but ill say that neither you or i know if he is putting pressure on yar adua, again what can a senator or even the whole senator do in influencing yar adua apart from talking ,remember its not part of their legislative duties, the power emergency is yar adua and his cabinet's responsibility and statements like this from smart is even digging it out back in the news, check the newspapers the past month and you ll realise the government has been steadily pushing it to the back burner, knowing nigeria thats where it ll be after all obj said all sorts without anything being done untill we learnt of the 16 billion scandal.

you are right but when there isnt enough pressure from multiple quarters like smart is advocating for,how will you make the government do so?remember smart's vote is just a single one in the upper house and do you really see him or even the whole of the legislative being able to wield that kind of power?
were they not their powerless when obj divided up  16 billion dollars?how many senators were brought to book for aiding and abetting?none because the presidency didnt need them for that, neither do they have any power to compell the president, even the budget imbroglio is still not fully sortd out with the ministers still raising memos for a supplementary budget which is like a single minister stepping to the whole senate tho he denied later, but thats to give n idea of the power the presidency wieldsits not the only way to make the rich do something ,but other ways like dialogue, protest e.t.c has been tried and failed arent we all nigerians and witnessed it all?they will have money to spend on other things but the perculiar thing about the power issue is that once the rich start feeling the pinch, they will take it serious,it works everytime, everywhere and in any country, hmmm maybe you r on about the noisy generator a silent sound proof remote controlled generator wont affect the rich man using it trust me,i have seen it
that is why i said banning clothes, cars, and all that isnt something that will readily affect the rich as much, also, generators can't be smuggled and hidden like generators, mentaly picture a 25kva generator and its size and think of smuggling it into nigeria and then think of using it without people knowing, it wont be possib;e

both smart ,the other senators,he average nigerian and im guessing the most people on here know what the real issues are,the will to sort it out by the presidency is the problem, and rather than the influential being patriotic they don't seem to readily care because they have a sure alternative, i think you should google sound proof remote controlled generators and see how it works then you will appreciate that even if theres no nepa for 2million years,if you can afford it and the diesel to run it and especially if your benefiting from the chaos you wont care that much
!, its not only his opinion, look at the voting stats

2, Who is in this country doesn't know that the power problem is one of the main causes of hardship, he is not tellin us anything new or doing us a favour by digging it out back in the news

3, Let the govt both 'smart' and all of them pretend that they need some sort of pressure before they attend to the power issue. They dont need pressure to allocate allowances for their maintainance as senetors.

U never hear say a whole ship disappear, na generator u think say dem no fit smuggle. ma open ya eye well, na 9ja be dis o!

its avery stupid idea to want to ban generators, its the will power to act that is the problem not the banning of generators. if they have a will power to solve the power problem they will albeit, ignoring the use of generators.

He should desist from making such stupid suggestions as a senator. its obvious why we are where we are today with DISTINGUISHED SMART SENATORS LIKE THIS.

Did Ghana need to ban generators to get its power system working as it ought to? What stops the Nigerian government from actually developing electricity as it should and allowing the people to shift from generators to electricity as the right thing for their situation?  Will the same government have to ban Solar Panels, Wind Turbines and mills as well to FORCE people to depend on it?

Even if two years from now the government successfully deals with the power problem, why should the people not be allowed alternatives? If I want to continue powering my poor house with generator, and can afford it, why should I not be allowed to do so? And Please, do not come back with a new context linking this to the environment cause it is clear the man is not really concerned about such in his bid to ban generators.

why the bans have not been working is because we have not had the political will to sort out the alternatives, who do you think benefit from all these bans if not the rich and eminent in the society,or are you privy to any incident where government contracts for textile reforms has been given to an average nigerian??
they banned foreign cars of a certain year so that their cronies can sell the brand new cars, i don't see america and britain banning cars of any year

they banned imported foods and drinks, have they empowered the farmers??rather than do that, the same cronies and rich people benefit from government policies like the 80billion naira appropriated for rice importation, fertilizer and cement rebate, who benefited if not the president's cronies??

thank GOD,you agree that the contracts shift from one hand to the other, its not shifting from under bridge to oshodi, its shifting from so called big men to so called big men.
i duff my hat!!!!!!

I dont know why we have to ban generators to realise we are in deep Electricity shit in this country. People will find a means to provide alternatives when a commodity is scarce, in this case Electicity.

If the govt manages to solve the electricity problem in the country, why will i need to get a generator, and if i dont need a gen, then the issue of banning generators will not arise, Know why? BECAUSE I HAVE CONSTANT ELECTRICITY PROVIDED BY THE GOVT OF WHICH I PAY FOR.

Another reason why the Banning does not make sense is IF THE GOVT CAN PROVIDE ELECTRICITY, THE BUSINESS OF IMPORTING GENERATORS BECOME UNATTRACTIVE. except you want to import what nobody will buy.

The senator should also propose banning the sinking of boreholes in houses and those guys that supply water in their carts with 25 littre kegs. That would also make Water works be more effective.

15m for a player with 2 years on his deal is not bad. I wish him all the best. cool

Let's take the money and run
Most of You gayners are definitely in tandem with Wenger the Economist. tongue
@ this rate Arsenal might be able to settle there debts in less than 17years grin grin

debosky:
Let AW sell the ones that want to leave early enough so we can still get good pickings from the transfer market.
Good Pickings . . . . . .That i'll like to see . . . more 14year old prospects that Arsene will put his hope on to attempt to win a trophy this season.

Atleast he has admitted to selling players for profit as his main priority. tongue tongue tongue instead of winning trophies. i think Arsenal in on course grin grin grin grin

EducationRe: Expulsion Scandal Rocks Covenant University: 120 Students Expelled by codedguy1(m): 4:07pm On Jul 04, 2008
patto01:
I am a parent and my son was involved in this no bible issue. However, he was not expelled. The students that were expelled (if at all the story is true) were those who had past records of acts of indiscipline with several warnings. Secondly, as much I know in this Nigeria, good things are never appreciated, so I am not surprised that a lot of people are criticising the University. Even our Lord Jesus was not accepted.

I know, the rules and regulations of the university was spelt out to all students and parents/guardians. No one was forced to have his or her ward in the university. Nigerians should be able to inculcate discipline and obeying simple rules and the country will be better. PLEASE LEAVE COVENANT UNIVERSITY ALONE
First of all, A bad law is a bad law wether you agree to it or not.
People agree to things like that when they are left with little option or in a precarious position.

We all know JAMB is a wash and people will do anything to give their kids some sort of education. Even if it is CU. If the educational sector was well run and there were lots of options around, i don't think any one would want to enroll in such a glorified kindergaten after reading such crap as LAWS (ASSEMBLY)

What exactly were the repeated offences these expelled students may have committed, if your child was only suspended!
In universities the offences for expulsion are usually very grave ones. and please annswer the questions posted by Brown bonno?

So its such a tragedy for that skilless, wasteful, superstitious, bullish, rude, ingrate to be offered 60K by AW?Ok do you know how much some other more talented stars earn.the fact that they don't go about mourning about it like ade does don't mean they all earn millions/month.
Now you call  him all those things because he has asked for a wage increase, albeit 120k, but was he all these things when he managed to stay fit and score 30goals ( someone said unimportant goals). Ade and the whole of ogbimosho know that he cant get that, he wants to up it as much as possible.

The truth is, i think Adebayor will want to stay at the Emirates if he is paid 75k-80kpweek, which would be fair considering his exploits last season. But with teams like Barca and Milan Showing interest and probably ready to fork out this amount he would readily start thinking about Retirement. grin

Other Players are probably also not happy with the wage structure which has also culmulated into trophiless seasons, how can a player for a club like Arsenal, get low wages compared with other top teams in the Prem or World and feel satisfied. on top of that the club has been trophiless for three seasons. Do yuo know how frustrating that can be!

Why is Hleb Trying to leave, Flamini Has Left, and now Adebayor. Fab4 is Young he can afford to wait a while. Please dont even mention RVP, Rosicky, DuDu,Eboue, Brendtner, these are players who can complement Ade when he is having an off day, but they did more of their contributions to the team from the injury bed or bench. They dare not go to Wenger to ask for a wage increase.

mystikal:
If Adebayor thinks he's as good as Thierry Henry or worthy of the same wages as Thierry Henry then he's dreaming. Henry may be on the wane but he was, in his pomp, one of the most incredible footballers I've ever seen. He didn't just have one good season - he had seven or eight of them and properly earned the money he was paid. Adebayor, as much as I like him, doesn't come close. If Barcelona are offering him £120,000 a week then he should go and take it and Arsenal should take the £25m or whatever it is that they're offering.
This might be his first of very good consistent seasons to come.

Cesc04:
Robinho for one, earns 30k pounds a week!Yeah you heard me!!Plzzz peeps, before some ignorant rag reading scum gets on this blog nd accuses me for blasphemy grin grin, I suggest they go do their investigations. Its the internet age ok?
I think Robinho on 30kpounds per week has a lot to do with the circumstances sorrounding his coming to Madrid.

Why are you guys talking bout Ade as if he is the only player in your team expected to score, yes he is/was your only fit stricker in the last campaign and he did his bit to the best of his ability. The entire team should be blamed for not winning anything instead of heaping the blame on Ade because he missed sitters against Big clubs. Did rooney not miss sitters also in last season, the diff is that other players complimented when it mattered most. thats why its quite unfair that your guys castigate Ade like this.

All Arses shud answer Akola's Question.

Akolawole:
If you are emmanuel Adebayo, what will you do?

Continue to take £30k

or

Get an increase offer of £60k

Or

Join a Bigger club with super increase of Wages
Fab4 can afford to wait a while, but Ade is a Bloody African and we Know he might be 35yrs or more, he needs his retirement money grin

The guy is also being blamed for being offside bout 66times, tell me if all 66times were Ade's fault, is it not common knowledge that ass Anal hold on to the ball with there pass pass pass pass soccer thus denying a potential stricker his BALLS grin

We know that in football strickers need their BALLs grin quickly to get the job done, but if not fed as at when due defenders read the game and step forward thus making him offside. Both parties should share the blame and not Ade alone. Even at that he still coped 30goals. thats why the likes of Milan and Barca want to sign him.

@ Vicade

Has Fab4 won anything for Ass Anal, why was his weekly wages increased, Being trophyless in 3seasons is now solely Ade's fault!!!!
