This is a right step in a right direction.
I also expect the students to in turn hold the schools accountable and demands an account of what and what their fees, govt allocation and school IGR was spent on to the last kobo. Also important is a stop to sales of lecturer notes, bribes, sorting and a compulsory provision of soft copy of all handouts to aid circulation.

Do we have technical universities in Nigeria? If so bring out their syllabus let's compare. My initial comparison was to the best universities in Nigeria when it comes to programming and the two names given were UniIlorin and Covenant. I can also show you the curriculum of Georgia State or Clayton State and they both still beat the best in Nigeria. It gets to a point when you realize syllabus matters just as much as the mode of teaching. A computer science student expected to pass 15 classes in the final year is a joke, there is no defense for it!
You still refuse to acknowledge there is no specific way to teach computer science. Covenant is doing great. Unilorin too. Even OAU ((Ife) I just finish checking theirs.

Don't transfer you bias of OSU(OOU) to all schools. There are many students who finished from CU and UI and are dong great in advanced studies in those countries you mentioned.

I never compared techniical school to a university, I used technical schools to showcase how I got knowledge for a specific programming language(JavaScript). I compared a technical universities such as Gtech to our universities in Nigeria. I could have compared Gtech to our polytechnics but that would make matters worse. I like UI's syllabus much better but I still see the same problem, more and more theories. When you are expected to complete 15 or more classes in your final year, how does any student truly assimilate? This is why you have graduates that crammed just to pass exams but are unable to compile and debug a simple program.
Is your comparison of a technical university like Gtech to partially/non technical one fair in you own opinion?

You don't know what you're talking about! No one goes to a technical school to get a degree in computer science, show me where I said that? Furthermore I went to a technical school to get comprehensive knowledge on Javascript and nothing else, for my degree I attended a university. Please stop confusing yourself!
If u admit uni and technical sch complement each other why compare them in the first place?

Check out this University of Ibadan Link and tell me if it matches or comes close to any US university's CS curriculum : https://sci.ui.edu.ng/compscicourse

No computer science course in the U.S is ever taught in a general way, by the second year you are following a distinct path just like I highlighted earlier and most of these classes not only deals with theoretical aspect but extensive practicals as well. Let's call a spade a spade, if you are saying Nigerian students are the problem, how come they excel when they travel abroad?
Check out UI also. They have website.

If according to you the US schools follow a distinct path as from year 2 what happens to the other paths? or are you implying they have only one path or branch of CS?

C language is outdated and only taught in basic or remedial classes, when you get to the 3rd and final year, it is expected that you are fully versed in a more modern programming language like Java or JavaScript, it is expected that you are versed in design, OS Architecture and so on. !
Your falsehoods are much but I will try my best.
I gave you a link that shows they use C and teach CS in way very similar to how CU teaches theirs.
Even in you post replying thevictorious you said technical schools aren't exactly universities but can't seem to acknowledge that simple fact on your way to badmouthing Nigerian Uni CS curriculum.

JavaScript and Java is good but no one will start teaching you Java for the sake of being grounded in it. What those Technical Schools your are parading as Universities do is to adopt one major language on their way to covering a branch of CS. That doesn't make them rival either directly or indirectly to universities.

Most CS guys in Nigeria end up in financial sector and that clearly explains why the students are introduced to Financial Accounting. You clearly don't know the purposes of establishment of universities and technical schools.

Look at the link I gave you well, They have major and minor and then Core CS. check the syllabuses out and stop being emotional.

I would like to see the syllabus of a Nigerian school that comes remotely close to that of GTech, I've seen that of Covenant and it is ridiculous!
Have you compared the one in the link I gave you to covenant university CS ? Please be specific with how CU's own is inferior.

I do not think he broke laws. Not everything is about breaking law, somethings are improper if they appear unethical in judgement. An ethically indicting action, even if it's within law, is just as bad on character and credibility and can tarnish image just as if one had broken law.

Religious organizations are registered with CAC as tax-exempt. What this means is they are not in business to generate revenue but can take donations from public. This is a thin line and a careless Head of Religion unit can trespass the boundary and get in trouble. A Church must always avoid acts that will force it to open its books to investigators. Discoveries will be made that can embarass the leader and its church.

Not just Oyedepo, but I think generally all religious bodies should be addressed by EFCC and reminded of the dangers of sending in auditors to inspect infringements of their charter. They all need a training to keep them safe and sound out of trouble. They have become nuisance to society lately.
Mbaka, Bakare and Osinbajo did more but nobody was disturbed. Imams preach directly to their followers that Muslims are suppose to rule over other Muslims always and nobody raises alarms so Oyedepo is just another individual.

@bold part, Muslims gladly watch while government meant for all fund their religion so it will be bad for us to talk about Oyedepo who doesn't press anyone for financial assistance.

Pls answer this question genuinely; would he have been on the right track if he indirectly support PMB openly same way he did for Atiku. My problem with majority of the youth is that we usually look at issue with a bias point of view. Honestly I'm more concern bcs we same youth are mostly affected by these useless politician ( PDP or APC). Majority of us have allowed sentiment to cloud our objectivity. He is my spiritual leader as well and I reference him in totality. But that doesn't means I will support any spiritual leaders who openly support or indirectly endorse any politician being PMB or Atiku. My vote is exclusively my right and decision. We should wake up and stop being gullible.
Oyedepo like every other citizen has a right to associate and even endorse a candidate as his choice. It is up to the followers to know that equally have right to support or endorse any candidate. It is suppose to be a one man one vote system. People are only scared of Oyedepo and that is why they didn't male noise when Mbaka rejected PEJ/GEJ or when Osinbajo was campaigning.

When you deliberately withold first class degree you hamper people's chances of competing nationally and internationally for jobs, scholarships etc. Almost half of all graduates from Imperial graduate with first class, about 700 Oxford students graduated some 1 or 2 years ago. It doesn't make ABU better than those universities, does it?

And ABU has never been ranked best uni in Nigeria by any professional ranking body before.
It will never make them a bit better.
We care more about giving an impression than getting things done. "Balloon mentality" I term it.

The real conflicts is LAND and some people's historical penchant for chasing others out of their ancestral homes not social media which came out just yesterday. How many of the killers owns phones?

Social media only wails at the wanton destruction of lives and properties and shows outrage over the lack of interest by the authorities.

2.5million should be no biggie for a dilligently ASP

If a private citizen had called them to rescue that day, what will be their probability of responding? Either no fuel or broken down vehicle would have been their excuse.

This is very bad. It is as though the northern elites don't want the peopke enlightened.

Lalasticlala
The elites know once a man has food he will seek knowledge in this information age. They prefer to have more poor mouths and keep using them as a bargaining tool in Abuja for better allocation.

They will soon come out with doctrines to brainwash their masses ( via Imams ) that there is money at the center but once they get that money they shut the mouths of the Imams with pilgrimage trips and others. They occasionally shut the mouths of followers with salah perks.

Maybe social media also triggers the extra judicial army/police killings also.

Now you're talking. You're right Nigeria covers the basic fundamentals which is why most of the syllabus operates on C programming. Unfortunately in the advanced world, this is not good enough. I was laughed out of about 3 to 4 interviews before it dawned on me that my degree in computer science was subpar. I pray we get it right one day because 4 to 5 years of fundamentals is really ridiculous when other countries are achieving full knowledge integration and implementation.
C is also being used in top schools in America but they don't have backward syllabus.
They also have core versions of CS that run for four years and teach core CS concepts just like most Nigerian schools.
Most times the students are the problem. They condemn a good syllabus blindly without doing a proper background check. CS can be taught in a general way and is being taught in a general way in many USA schools. What they do in addition to that is carve out a more narrow version that addresses specific aspect of CS like OS, Architecture, Enterprise and more. Don't confuse that for being superior to the Nigerian version.
