And they said we don't need a MF with good long ball and short passing ability. All the long ball passes I have seen are all wayward.

Hope you know he was in Arsenal for 10 years and played with Eze, Iwobi, before going to Southampton then Burnley.

He played SS , LW, AM for Burnley but predominantly inverted wingers from the right .
Was there another Aina? Or d same Ola Aina? In Arsenal & Burnleyhuh

This is a good 😊 topic

What is your definition of African football ⚽❓

What I can tell you is there are cultural dynamics as well coaching practices and different emphasis.

In Africa we lay a lot of emphasis on dribbling, skills , athletic ability even physicality. But less on football intelligence and management, end product crosses, free kicks , intelligent disguised passes, etc.

Trent Alexander was actually a midfielder who was called to play RB , that's where is opportunity came from. He seized it with both hands didn't complain that he was midfielder, well the rest is history.

What you will find in the top academies is emphasis on the things we ignore. You really need to be able to cross the ball with both feet by 15 if you want to progress.

It's some of tihre basics not all but a good number of our homegrown players have not mastered. This can be a problem for progression.

I see these handicaps in Zaidu, Chukwueze and to a lesser extent Moses S.

I love African football ⚽ without all the restrictive tactics and team strategies. It is fantastic entertainment, however winning may be a problem.

What do you think.

I've been to most premier League academies as well as championship ones. And these are my observations.
In essence Aribo is ambidextrous also. Haven't seen him kick with his right tho.

Aina is graduate of the school of complete football.

He could play DM AM CM as well as both sides Wing and Wing back. His passing accuracy and football ⚽ intelligence is high.
And he is not playing for R Madrid and Liverpool?? All these and still he cannot make the bench of Aston Villa & Man City?? Abi I dey miss something??😂😂😂
PoliticsRe: Soludo, Archbishop Okeke In War Of Words Over Burial Of Priest’s Mother by comodo: 4:32pm On Jan 22, 2024
SmartPolician:
Oga, rest! Who made you the mouthpiece of the people? Who told you that everyone can afford to throw an expensive party in Anambra to bury their dead? Again, Soludo didn't enact that law; he just told people to obey an existing law.

Then, the archbishop mentioned that whenever laws don't work in Nigeria, it means it's unpopular. This is a blatant lie. Laws fail in Nigeria because government officials don't enforce them.

Even Soludo - who could afford to use all state resources to bury his father - obeyed the same law. What is wrong with Black people?! Nigerians are incorrigible and need strong hands to govern them.
It's not cast on stone that the burial must be expensive. In the same state, some towns use 1 day for burial while some use 2 days. Even some families still use 1 day in those towns that use 2 days. The law is there. But families apply it according to how they deem fit. If you want to throw owambe, no one cares. If you want low key, na for your pocket.

Chai..

What is the meaning of Bandit in Nigeria?

According to Websters of Nigerian Dictionary.
Bandits are group of men with arms and Ammunitions that attack the citizens with the intent of Kidnapping for Ransom and sometimes sell as slaves. Kill them. Rape them. Burn and sack communities. Burn farm crops, use their cattle to eat up the remaining crops and even kill both military and paramilitary personnel.

But come to think of it. Has our GK really been tested?? I don't think I have seen the real tourney test. I wasn't actually impressed with the way he handled that Fofana shot. I cannot say that he is the undisputed No1 yet. Time will tell.

Just remembered something. Heard Da Bull during the commentary when he said that Today is the day team SE will break the 'jink' jinx of winning CIV @ home. And also winning a game wearing this white jersey. It got me scratching my head tho. Does it mean we have not won any game with this white jerseyhuh

This year's AFCOn is different. There is a level of discipline and self belief in all the teams. Hmm to qualify for world cup for Africa this time will be something else.

Onyeka was good in our last match but in the long term you won't get the best out him if he plays DM. He's not completely comfortable with the ball at his feet.
No one looks at the number of wrong passes he made in dangerous areas.

Plan B and C should be readily available

As for formation, depending on the team we play
4-3-3
5-4-1
3-4-3
Only plan is Moffi. I am not really sold out on Onuachu. There is so much brute force in this AFCON. See how CIV was tossing our players aside in 1v1 duels. Aside Bassey. That one na Rhino.

The same Ekong some peeps here said was forced on Jpes by NFF. The same Ekong some even wrote one page of essay to justify nepotism by NFF. The same Ekong one even said that he is so bad that he cannot make a league 1 team. Till today they refuse to understand that this is AFCON. It's played by Africans.
