If you have ever come across a file or folder that you finds impossible to delete, then you will understand the frustration that comes with such cases. For those who have never experienced such, the fact is that this happens more often than you think. In my own case, this is how it happened. I downloaded a file some months back. After viewing the contents (it was a PDF file) I wanted to delete the whole folder to create space on my hard drive, but lo and behold the file couldn’t be deleted. At first, I was told it is open in another program; so I shut down the computer and restarted it. I tried to delete again. It got deleted. I heaved a sigh of relief and continued with my daily activities. A few days later, I came across the same folder at the previous location with all the contents still intact. My patience has been tested with this file so on this particular day, I instantly pressed “Shift + delete” to permanently delete it off my computer and it got deleted. I heaved a sigh of relief thinking I have seen the last of the issue. Fast forward to two weeks after the event above. I was searching for a document when I stumbled upon the file I thought had been deleted. This is when I decided that enough is enough and pressing ordinary delete won’t cut it anymore. The last time I experienced something like this, I used a small program called unlocker to unlock and delete. But right now, I stared at the file with a mildly surprised look on my face. Which brings us to the present topic: How can you delete/remove stubborn files from your computer after you have tried everything? There are two methods that I have used both of which are outlined below: 1) File Shredder method: Whenever you delete a file from your computer, it doesn’t get deleted in the real sense. At least not immediately It can still be recovered using a file/disk recovery utility. This is where a file shredder comes in. A file shredder securely and permanently removes data from your computer without any hope of restoration. In my own case, I downloaded a free program simply called “file shredder”, installed it and opened the stubborn folder from right inside the program. Then I hit shred. Cest fini! At last, I got to remove the obnoxious and stubborn file. 2) Unlocker Method: There is a small program for windows called unlocker. What it does is that it helps to remove or unlock stubborn files from your computer. All you have to do is right click on the file/folder you want to remove, click unlocker and choose whatever action you want. These actions include copy, move or delete.

I came back from an outing today and met two guys filling a United States visa application form with the help of one of my staff. I took a sneak peak of the application and withdrew to my own corner. Soon, one of them initiated a call to someone and says he is on so and so page and what should he type where ”address” is written on the webpage? Talk of “tele-form” filling. They had made several mistakes which hopefully they will be able to correct later. Due to the fact that I have successfully filled the DS160 and applied for visa for some people before without any hassles, I think I am in a position to offer a few words of advice to intending applicants with my own little understanding. 1) Prepare your mind that you will not be given the visa: Okay. You will probably hate me for saying this but I am only trying to help. It is better not to expect any positive result and for you to be granted the visa than for your hopes to be dashed after expecting so much. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. 2) If you are refused the visa, do not reapply until after the time given: Like it or not, some peeps visa application will be refused. No matter the country. A friend once applied to the UK embassy for a tourist visa. Her application was refused and she was told not to re-apply until after six months. She was furious. I implored her to wait till after six months but she refused and reapplied almost immediately. She was slammed with a ten year ban. Need I say more? 3) If you can afford it, use the services of an expert: Yes, You like doing things yourself. You are internet savvy and know what you are doing but please, when it comes to US visa applications in Nigeria, seek the services of an expert travel agent, provided you can afford it of course. It will save your time and money. You chances of success is also improved. 4) Have enough funds: It is not a surprise that this is one of the main item in the visa application form. Unless you are being sponsored, you should have enough funds in your bank to sustain you for the period of your sojourn outside the country. This is so because your host country (in this case the United States) do not want you to become a liability and resort to illegal means of survival. If you are being sponsored, your sponsor should have enough funds also. Of course, This will be verified. 5) Get all relevant documents ready before applying: You may think this is obvious until you discover how many people starts rushing around to get a birth certificate or some other vital document few days to their visa appointment. Some people have lost some of their important documents including academic results and won’t bother to get a replacement from the school until they are about to go for a visa interview. The eleventh hour syndrome. Finally, the points above do not apply to when applying for a US visa alone, It applies to other countries as well. MrBen10:We need to make a ruckus about this their rubbish *223# stuff on their recharge cards. Nansense! |

In response to this thread below: https://www.nairaland.com/3409630/hate-glo-network....they-gave-me I noticed a lot of people bashing and cussing the OP for recharging with *223# instead of using *123#. Here is my Story: I have been using MTN since.. Frankly, I haven't used any other network except during my NYSC when I was forced to use Etisalat and Airtel for some months due to lack of MTN coverage in some internal areas of Delta State back then. About three weeks ago I decided to give our Naija network a trial. Bought and registered a GLO SIM. Bought rechrage cards there in their office and my first recharge was without incident. Everything went well. Fast forward two weeks ago and I want to recharge and subscribe again. Bought the required airtime and because I haven't been using GLO before, I checked the paper for the recharge code, saw *223# and dialed. Surprise!Surprise!! I received a message that 500 was deducted and something about #500 call and #500MB data. I was like What the h**l!! But I wanted to subscribe for the monthly plan. Well, I visited the nearest customer care, was told it *223# is for something else and that I have to buy another recharge card if I want the monthly package. Okay. I bought another card and up till now I was unable to recharge. I was also unable to check my balance up till now Customer care said the platform is down. I have a recharge card I cant use The question is this: Why will GLO put two recharge codes on their cards? WHY? ![]() MTN is always *555*recharge code#. From there you can dial whatever code you want and whatever you like. Also, Airtel is always *126# and from there you can do whatever you want to do Etisalat is always *222* and from there..... you know the drill Why cant GLO emulate this? And Please, before you start ranting about uniqueness or some other marketing jargon, it is better to use any strategy that is working for your competitor instead of frustrating your customers. What I did? Simple. I removed the nonsense SIM and kept my card for future use. Skikena! Anybody that has that meme where it says "Good Morning, but GLO users will see probably this in the evening" MEME should help me attach. Oh, lest I forget, cc: lalasticala ![]()

This is a very disturbing trend. I was watching a video of two girls fighting in Las Vegas yesterday and instead of the so called spectators to separate them, no. They were busy recording the fight even as the girls were beating each other furiously. What if one of them should collapse and die ?? They will still be snapping and recording **sighs * |

Hello peeps. I have decided to share one of the ways I make extra income online. Even though I run an offline business which doesn't leave much time for much else, I still manage to do some small business online to make extra cash. One of these is by writing articles. I have tested it, discovered that it works and also decided to share with interested folks. Even though I don't do this full time (Because I am always busy) you can scale it up and make a stable income if you have the time. FAQ's Can I use my phone? No. Get a PC. Even If it is pentium III Can I do it from Nigeria? Yes. I did it and you can too I am a student, Can I do this? Sure. Even if you are working. All you need is set some time apart to write articles PROOF: Attached to this post is the payment I received just yesterday. Like I said, I do it part time. Not full time. DISCLAIMER: It is not for the lazy types You must be able to write passable English You must know how to surf online and make research (Not just FB and NL) ![]() Goodluck

ClintonNzedimma:Be mindful of themes. They may not be as widespread and with free ones as that of WordPress. Although if you know some php, you can customize them yourself. |
ClintonNzedimma:I am sure it can power high content websites. It's a very cool CMS. I am even surprised I haven't heard about it before. |
I downloaded and installed the Textpattern CMS and surprise! Surprise!! It's extremely fast!!! Faster than Joomla and WordPress. But its a relatively new CMS and support may not be extensive like that of WordPress and others. One unique thing I noticed was that you paste codes to install plugins!! I will use it for a website and see what happens. |
@op I believe it is a relatively new CMS. I will download, install and give you feedback. All those less than par posts on front page ought not to have been there. But then, we are in a free world. Are we not? |
glogirlie:You got it. |
glogirlie:Glogirlie.. leave matter for mathias.. I am not so sure they will use those uploaded documents for now. Just continue with whatever yo are doing and hope foe the best. Good luck! |
Nafizzey:It wasn't sent to everyone. Just relax. |
Nafizzey:Just leave it. You are already registered |
murphyrichy:If I were you, I will just ignore it. I observed that there is a problem with that uploads page. The most important details is that the registration form is filled. I believe you still have to submit hard copies of the credentials later at the screening stage. Goodluck. |

This question is brought about from my observations since the beginning of this Npower stuff. The first few days the programme started was characterized by a lot of problems and challenges because of the number of people trying to register. This was understandable due to unexpected number of people that applied. But questions started arising from the sequence of events since then. I should be among the first set of people to register (first hundred or two hundred thousand) and I received an email saying that my registration is successful with details such as the username used during the registration. (find attached image below). Few days later, I noticed the registration URL had changed and that the whole registration form has been revamped. This was where the questions started arising. I noticed that if you register, no confirmation email was sent anymore. You are presented only with a successful page and that is that. Nevertheless, if you try and register again from this point onwards, you receive a notification that you had already registered. Some few days after the changes were made to the Npower website, a client came with a friend that wants to register for the programme. He himself (the client) said he had already registered elsewhere. I asked him when? And he told me sometimes during the first few days. Out of curiosity I decided to ascertain if he had truly registered and tried to apply for him and Voila! His registration was successful AGAIN despite the fact that he had registered before! My Question is this: Has the old database and hence the details of EVERYONE that registered in the first few days been destroyed or lost? Because if it were not so, he should have received a response that he had already registered. Here is why: I am a web developer/designer. I know how websites work. Anybody that registered on that website will have their details stored in a database and should you try to register again with the SAME INFORMATION, you SHOULD be told that you had already registered (which works fine if you applied recently but if you had applied within the first few days, and you applied again now, no such notification was given). Today 6th July, 2016 I helped someone else to register and lo and behold, a confirmation email was sent with a UNIQUE APPLICATION REFERENCE NUMBER (Find attached screenshot) The question that comes to mind is what happens to those who thought they had registered but MAYBE they haven’t registered at all? What happens to those that doesn’t receive the UNIQUE APPLICATION REFERENCE NUMBER? I just hope that some people will not think they had registered for the programme and in the true sense they had not registered. Well, these are my thoughts and they are kind of unsettling especially for the applicants. My candid advice? I will implore applicants to try and re-register to verify that they are properly registered to avoid stories that touch. Summary: Try and re-register with the SAME INFROMATION/DETAILS used before. If you are properly registered, you will receive a notification saying you are already registered. If not then you use that opportunity to register properly. Remain Blessed Source Here Note: screenshots of images are at source. |
