ghettonews:I personally believe it will be super challenging to learn German from scratch to a level sufficient to undertake a uni degree taught entirely in German, within 6 months. Therefore I advise anyone who doesn't speak German to find a programme taught in English. |
Blacknaija2002:No you don't need to consider resumption date. Your visa will be valid from the date you choose. You cannot travel before that date. Also note that your visa would have a validity period (usually 3 or 6 months). The important thing is that you're expected to have landed in Germany and gotten a residence permit before the expiration of your visa. |
isamd4:State should suffice |
isamd4:The school. The admissions office |
isamd4:Congrats. There's a checklist on the embassy's website. Go through it. Print all the required documents, fill the visa application form and make necessary photocopies. Else you will have to pay outrageous prices to make photocopies at the car park beside the embassy. Same as the prepaid courier envelope. It is more expensive over there. Please print out your email invite and take it along with you. Once you've done everything according to the checklist, go straight to the embassy. Don't mind the 'hustlers' at the car park. They may try to convince you to print things that you don't need so they can charge you ridiculous prices. As for interview questions, there are many on this thread. Just do a search. I posted my interview questions around December last year. Feel free to search my posts. But there are many more. So search this thread and prepare. Very importantly, be confident in your reaponses. Do not be late for your interview! All the best. |
Aperion7:If you go to a good studio and say you need it for german visa application, they'll know what to do. Anyway, the size is 35mm by 45mm. And I think it's the same for most European countries. |
Ezemeiyogu:I do not know your exact situation and I cannot give any guarantees. But if you already have partial block account confirmation and your interview is close, I'd say you should go for the interview. This is based on the experience of a few people that I am aware of (they initiated block account transfer before the interview date but hadn't gotten a confirmation by the date of their interview). Tell them you have initiated transfer for the balance but you're still awaiting confirmation. They will either interview you and withhold your visa till you provide proof of full funding or they'll ask you to contact them when you have this proof, so they can issue a fresh interview date at short notice. |
TLD20:Sorry to hear that. The UK needs your money. So, unless the university is a high ranking one, admission is relatively easy. Education is essentially free in Germany. But it is also easy to get admitted if you are diligent in your application process. The hard part is the visa. Now to your question. Some possible reasons for your rejection: 1)You did not read the admission requirements. Applying to German universities often require lots of work because you have to read all the fine prints. Comb through the application pages and associated links to see if you meet the requirements. If they require specific undergraduate courses (as is often the case) they will not bend the rules. There is generally no abeg in Germany. It is a rule based society. 2) NC. There's something called Numerus Clausus. Basically it tells you if meeting the admission requirements is sufficient to gain an admission. Every programme in a university is assigned NC based on the number of applications and number of available places. If the programme is "NC free" it means that once you meet the requirements you will definitely be admitted. No ifs or buts. However, if there is NC, it means that applicants will be ranked based on some criteria (usually the criteria are disclosed) and admission will be given in order of ranking, based on number of available spaces. While I don't discourage people from going for the best of the best, one has to be realistic and strategic. If you have an average academic profile (and this goes beyond your cgpa) and you focus on the the most competitive options, then you'll likely be disappointed. In my opinion there are three dimensions to the competition: the programme, the school and the City. As you might expect it will be tough to get admitted to, say, Software Engineering in TU Berlin. If your profile cannot get you an admission to Edinburgh then RWTH Aachen will likely not admit you? So be realistic. Apply to the competitive schools/programmes but also apply to the not-so-competitive ones where admission is almost certain. There are so many schools and programmes in Germany. What's more? The difference in standard between the government owned universities is minimal. And employers aren't choosy. Finally, I will reiterate: read the admission requirements! All the best. |
Sodiqabidemi:This should not be a problem. I know at least two people who recently had the same issue and were rescheduled. Send and email. State clearly in your email that you were previously scheduled for and interview but were told to send an email for a reschedule, after obtaining your block account confirmation. All the best. |
Harry4cas:The first advise is to have a backup plan. The AD policy for cat B is not very transparent. Also, it changes frequently. To your question, yes I'll advise that you book now because, to the best of my knowledge appointment bookings are no longer reset in April and September. |
DPapilo:How? Can you explain why it is unhealthy? |
Amarahoparah:Don't wait till you secure admission before you book your appointment. |
nameundisclosed:It is a presumption. Honestly no one fully gets the logic, especially now that appointment bookings are no longer reset. In recent past, generally speaking, I think first come first served held true, provided you didn't choose a very early start date. This is based on my own observation. But now, I'm not sure anymore. There are people who booked early, chose faraway start dates and still didn't get AD. It is a mystery. |
nameundisclosed:In the past (I don't think they do that anymore), all appointment bookings were reset at the end of March and September. So if you didn't get an AD by the end those months you'd have to re-book. So people tried to book new appointments by midnight of Apr 1st or Oct 1st, based on they presumption that ADs are given on a first come, first served basis. |
Miguelflacko:Congrats! You need to prove that your admission is still valid. That is what "up to date admission letter" means. So either you provide an admission letter that is valid for the incoming semester or proof of enrolment for the current semester. In your case you 'paused' your studies. Just get an official proof from your school that you can resume in the next summer semester or winter. But take note that if you're resuming in winter 2022 your visa will likely not be issued until it is close to that time. In any case, the important thing is to go for your interview and go with an official proof of your student status. Cheers. |
TJ10:Mmm... What date did you write as your intended travel date? |
klonboi:Why don't you try form A? It is way cheaper. Anyway, if you insist on paying black market rates for Euros, I know someone who could assist. PLS NOTE that I do not know this person personally, nor have I met him before. We have only spoken on phone. Someone here gave me his contact when I needed to pay semester fee (~300 eur). He also helped to pay accommodation fee(~900 Eur). There were no issues at all. You should also be aware that you'll likely be required to transfer the Naira value before your block account is credited with the Euro. If you're willing to take the risk with 10k Eur, you may send me a PM. |
TJ10:Tracking error? From the day you bought the prepaid envelope your tracking number should return information when you track online. I suggest you contact DHL first. You shouldn't see tracking error. |
dex711:Using the tracking code given to you when you purchase the prepaid courier envelope, you can track your parcel on the courier company's website to know when they have picked it up from the embassy. In my case DHL picked it up on Friday and estimated delivery date was Monday. I called them and told them I'll come pick it up instead. If you are in Lagos and you're not in a hurry, you can just wait for them to deliver it. Picking it up was a bit of hassle. They gave me an incorrect pickup location at first. |
nameundisclosed:It means your visa has been aproved |
To God be the be the glory. I have received my visa. It's been a very long walk. I actually got an AD in December 2020 but due to an unfortunate turn of events, I had to forfeit it. Anyway, God has His own plans and timing. Booked on 1st April. Cat B AD: 19.10.21. Interview: 26.10.21 (Just a week to prepare and fund block account. It was a race against time but God came through. AM: 22.11.21. (I submitted my travel date and insurance certificate on the same day) Visa: 27.11.21 (I went to dhl to collect it, rather than wait for delivery) My Interview Questions: What do you know about Germany? Economy of Germany? Geography of Germany? Etc. Why did you choose to study in Germany? Why your chosen programme? Do you speak German? Final year project? Plans after studies? Then I was given some multiple choice questions to solve. Thank you to all the people who supported me with information when I reached out. I couldn't possibly name you all. I wish everyone the best. |
Johnnyark:You can get your German health insurance from here and use that. Otherwise, you may try axa Mansard. It is quite popular with people on this thread. |
Johnnyark:Not yet |
nameundisclosed:When did this friend of yours move to Germany? And are they aware of the recent happenings as regards AD for Nigerian cat B applicants? I would suggest you read the last 50 pages of this thread (if you can) to get an idea of what's going. It will help put things in perspective |
Johnnyark:Thank you bro. Any idea how long it takes get my stamped passport after submitting requested docs. |
nameundisclosed:AM |
richy16:Yes |
richy16:Oct 26 |
Johnnyark:It came yesterday. Thanks. Any student of Uni Trier here? |
Johnnyark:It's been 4 weeks since I had my interview. In haven't heard anything. |
MICng:I was at the embassy in late October and there was at least one Bsc applicant for visa interview. Msc applicants are far more than BSc applicants. Maybe that's why ADs for Bsc seem to be scarce on this thread. |
findxyz:Yes combine your transcripts with your degree certificate(s). |
