My passport expires in Feb 2021, meaning I have about 6 months validity left.

What is the validity period required to apply for a German student visa?

Do I have to renew my passport now? If I renew now, does it affect the appointment that I have already booked?

I received a letter of presence recently. Do you have an idea where (e.g email) the letter of presence is to be directed to.

The contact form and the appointment booking page does not have a place for document upload.

When you get an AD, you will take the letter with you for your interview.

You are to upload the document on uniassist and then send certified copied of your documents by courier. This applies to most schools

Hello house....According to the screenshot, I am supposed to send my university entrance qualification document (Im assuming this is WAEC certificate) for my enrolment. Obviously because I can't send my original document, please can someone confirm if this requested official certified copy means a copy of my result certified at the high court (i.e. notarised)?

Don't stress yourself. You applied for Data Science, right? According to the info on the programme page, they will start sending letters from Aug 6th at the earliest.

Since it is a restricted programme, they will need to evaluate all applications after the deadline (July 15th), rank all applicants before deciding on who to admit to the programme.

In the middle of all these waiting and uncertainty, one of my major concerns is the exchange rate. Before covid it was hovering around 400 naira to the Euro and it looks like it is currently heading towards 600 with the way things are going. It's crazy! So if you say you want to wait till next year to save up some more, who knows what the rate will be by next year.

All in all we can only hope for the best.

In my opinion, this is a poor excuse. Many people will kill for an opportunity to have their first semester online and then continue in Germany when international flights open and visa is granted.

What is the meaning of "poor Internet connection in your country?" Your monthly cost of living in Germany will be enough to get a reliable alternative power supply and internet connectivity. You have enough time to make arrangements. Your classes will not be impromptu, you will have a time table. Many people in Nigeria enrol for online degrees in very reputation foreign universities and they complete their studies without problems.

If your primary purpose of going to Germany is to school, then this shouldn't be an issue for you at all. In fact, you should be glad.

The fact that the German consulate's website says that they're fully booked till around this time next year isn't helping either.

You are to book appointment after you obtain your admission letter.

According to the info on their website it was stated that they will start sending admission letters 4 to 6 weeks after application deadline. Application closed on 15th July.

If you read the admission letter very well you will notice they stated that you are not required to be physically present for the enrolment. Also, you are to send certified true copies, not original documents. Was admitted to same programme too

Try potsdam. You are required to upload documents on Uni-assist but you don't need to send physical documents by courier. Also, no processing fee is charged. Application deadline should be July 15th.

Leuphana Univ of Lüneburg too. Same as above. But you will have to pay processing fee

Quick question guys: in a situation where you have not received an AL from your preferred school, can you apply for visa using the AL you have already received from another school, and then change school if/when the desired AL comes?

If yes, how does one go about it?

Honestly, I've been thinking about this for a while. Why does Germany decide to educate foreigners for free?
Seems very illogical when you consider the cost of schooling in the UK for instance . I think a time will come when they begin to charge foreigners or at least non-EU nationals

If I may add my 2 cents, when people become rich they usually forget what it feels like to be poor. Similarly, we take knowledge for granted once we acquire it.

You are not mandated to answer people's questions but to ridicule them for asking is very unfair. Ignoring a question shouldn't be so hard.

Inability to ask questions has led people to make expensive mistakes . Many examples abound on this thread. It is better to ask 'stupid' questions than make 'stupid' mistakes.

If you have a question, ask. Nobody owes you an answer. So you should do your own research too. But let nobody ridicule you or shut you up for asking a question. Na question you ask, you no kill person. After all, that is the purpose of this thread.

However, Uni assist couldn't forward my application to the school because I didn't have a German language proficiency certificate which is mandatory for all their courses even if the course would be taught in English.. I wrote to the admission office at potsdam to plead leniency omo dem no gree.. They said that's the rule and they can't adjust it good news was my other applications to uni magdeburg and kiel University were forwarded by uni assist I'm praying for a favourable outcome

Are you sure your chosen programme is taught in English? You may want to re-confirm that.

My application has been forwarded. And I'm not proficient in German.

Did you carefully go through the admission requirements to ensure you tick all the necessary boxes?

I don't see why an accounting degree holder cannot apply for International Business.

At the end of the day, no school promises to admit everyone who applies. The classic reason for decline is "unfortunately we received a lot of very outstanding applications this year. It was a tough decision blah blah blah" which translates to " your academic credentials are below our standard". If the school is a high ranking one or course is in very high demand, it is usually very competitive.

Try to apply to multiple schools and programmes. It increases your chances.

One can always renew passport even if it hasn't expired. I don't work in the consulate so I don't know if the normal passport will be accepted. Pls try adhere to the requirements for your own good. We have waited this long for AD, let's get it right

It all depends on the school and/or course. Just ensure you read the instructions on the programme website very well when you are ready apply.

For some schools, you apply and upload your document directly to their application portal. no need to send physical documents by courier.

For a few schools you apply via uniassist application portal. No need to send physical documents by courier

For a few schools you apply directly via the school application portal and then send physical documents to the school by courier

For many schools you apply via uniassist application portal and then send physical docunents to uniassist by courier.

Due to covid, many schools that would normally require that you send physical documents waived this requirement.
