TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by cooooooks(m): 10:04pm On Oct 23, 2023
I will just clarify:

If you explain in your letter of explanation that you are only coming to visit and go back.

Then you get a work permit. When you apply for permanent residence or another thing, they may ask you why your plans changed, at the discretion of the officer handling your file.

So you had better have a reasonable reason as to why your visit changed from sight seeing to job search.

I will advise people who seek to convert:

Try and travel back to Nigeria soon after you get your work permit. So you could explain that you visited came back, and someone you met wanted to hire you because they liked you so much.

So u recognize what insult is when u called someone a fraud?
Besides, are u threatening me with removal from this forum or what?
This guy u really need help
It's obvious that ur village people are against u
They don't want u to learn so as to help urself
So if someone is allowed to apply for a work permit, is he or she not allowed to work when he or she is being granted a work permit?
Is work permit meant to be received as an award without being allowed to work?
I thought u and ur mobil567 said going to Canada with tourist visa and trying to convert it to work is fraudulent?

You have said it all.

ThisPower:
Una dey over load this thread for we wey be silent reader
I just had to login to say this and let's continue with the information

That moniker fault was the curses he laid but he passed a valid point. The lies we tell is making it difficult for genuine applicants who just want to visit. Sheyb somebody shared POE experience and the border Officers mentioned it meaning they already know our game.

It is ILLEGAL to work on a VISIT VISA. That Visa is for the purpose you selected be it tourism or conference or visit a member.

Is it LEGAL to work with a VV.. No, it is illegal
Is it LEGAL to look for A JOB on a VV and apply then get a WORK PERMIT.. yes, it is legal

Most of the people arguing here are not getting the fact and that is what justwise is trying to point out as well.

When you get to Canada on a VV, you are prohibited to work.
But if you Go and look for a job under LMIA, then you can apply for work permit or you flagpole to change your status faster then you can start working. That way you are not violating your VV status.

This is basic understanding.
Go on YouTube and see people who think they can just enter Canada ND start working, they are on the streets. Infact the videos will make you cry.

Please you people should not misquote what is on Canada website abeg o

A visit visa holder working without changing their status to work permit is illegal.

Canada that you can barely get something done without SIN. Many PRs, student are looking for Jobs, and they are the ones employee will consider first before vv.
With your skills, qualifications, job hunting spirit and God,you can get a Job on a VV then you follow due procedure.
If not, when you have stayed well, please come back make you no destroy your immigration history.
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by cooooooks(m): 9:57pm On Oct 23, 2023
Ah.

I will never persistently discourage anyone from doing anything they want to better their lives.

However, the truth is Canada's visa processes are somewhat clear, and getting difficult.

That is why I always advise people to:
- learn french
- have a good idea of the laws

Before they try to come to Canada.

It is basically impossible to easily change visitor visa to permanent résidence or even work visa.

The ways I know are:

- agent gets you a job in a faraway place paying minimum wage that you have to do for 2 years or more. They charge around 10k CAD for this. The best agents for this approach are Indian agents. Be ready to move anywhere.

- you have a highly sought after skill: software, nursing, healthcare, french speaking ability

- you are seeking to marry. Someone you know, a genuine marriage setup or even a fake marriage setup. Even fake marriages cost 15k or more. And the IRCC will sniff out those who do fake marriages. However they will only make a case against you when you apply for something else, like citizenship.

The above are possible ways to convert that I know of.

Anyone who advises that you overstay your visa then apply for asylum only wants to make money out of you.

You could apply for asylum, they may even give you a work or study permit. However, in the end, the asylum will be denied. Perhaps even with a 5 year ban.

Remember that any information that Canada has is shared with USA, Australia, EU.

So if you misrepresent yourself in a Canadian application, almost every other application to any other top country you make will be denied (depending on the misrepresentation).

Good luck everyone.

Hola55:
I read about people comments here,it really amazed me,to convert visit visa to work visa is difficult,to go as student is problem,to get lmia problem,to even claim asylum is double wahala, the only way now is to go through PR.Nigerians why are we making things difficulty for ourselves? Many people forgotten that we all come from different background, some will spend 6months in Canada, they will tell you it's difficult to get job after spending years in Nigeria without getting job, even some has never travel out of Nigeria telling you what is going on in Canada, now people should spend almost 30k Canadian dollar to study and come back to Nigeria to resume job that is not there! How many graduate in Nigeria today is getting 500k a month in this country? How many parents can pay school fees abroad with this present situation. This lmia you are talking about why are the Indian getting it?why is it only Nigerian getting problem at the point of entry? It's because we are enemies of ourselves,Indian are the most fraudulent people, still they don't have issues with them.My advice is this,if anyone ask how to convert visit to work give him/her available options and let them try their luck, don't discourage people.Basically this forum was launched to educate people on how to go about their application, documents to use, time frame for approval and testimonies from people for others to learn.Stop discouraging people, and stop fighting, nothing is impossible in the eye of God.Many got there and made it through visit visa, many did with student visa and also with PR.Let always be our brothers keepers!!!

30,000 CAD is a lot to spend in 3 weeks.

To unlock the global potential of my venture, securing a NAFDAC number became paramount.

This journey was no walk in the park, but it was one I managed to navigate entirely on my own. My journey to obtain a NAFDAC number taught me a lot about the agro-processing industry, and it made me appreciate the hard work and dedication of all the people involved in this industry.

It also gave me a new appreciation for the challenges that entrepreneurs face when trying to bring their products to market.

If you're curious about how I obtained my NAFDAC number, I'm more than willing to share my story; just let me know so I create a thread for it

In a nutshell, my business is no longer limited to raw produce. It now extends to processing agricultural goods, opening up a world of opportunities for those willing to embrace creativity and innovative thinking.

So, if you're looking to explore new horizons and break free from the ordinary, keep an eye on my journey and discover the exciting world of agro-processing.

Together, we'll uncover a realm of possibilities beyond the conventional!

Well, for sure they are likely saving 3 million plus in pension per year.

They wont have access to this money 99% of the time (unless it isna type that can be accessed temporarily to buy or renovate a house).

After taxes, pension, healthcare, they ahould be able to save 5 million. They will save 0 if their spouse doesnt work AND they have children.

harsysky:
God bless you! If they attend to their needs while being prudent, can't they save atleast 5million a year? Can 500k salary save that?

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Will You Accept This Job Offer Or Turn It Down To Travel Abroad by cooooooks(m): 2:40pm On Oct 16, 2023
No truck driver is earning 20 million naira a month.

With current exchange rates, that is 30,000 CAD.
NOT ONE truck driver is earning that.

Truck drivers earn from $6,000 (hourly worker, within the city, strict schedule) to maybe $15,000 (owner operator, does Canada-US long hauls), a month on average.

harsysky:

This is the problem I have with you guys. Your advices are devoid of wisdom. You guys think people make money to be worshipped or show some kinda pride. 500k, king? And after that, he achieves what with it when his mates are earning more than 20million naira a year as a truck driver in canada. I pity your sense of reasoning, and the earlier you change it, the better for you.

This couple is already traditionally married.

Now that the husband is in Canada, they need a legal marriage certificate for their processing.

For me, i dont know why, but the registry said 21 days wait period was part of the waiting period, but my friend told me that with some money, they could cut it down to 2 days.

Kobojunkie:
1. You don't need to do traditional marriage if all you need is the certificate which is what really proves in the eye of the law that you are married. undecided

2. What was the publication for? And why did you need to wait? undecided
FamilyRe: Court Wedding Lagos by cooooooks(op): 2:42pm On Oct 10, 2023
So can they just get a marriage certificare from the registry with no ceremony if already traditionally married?

For my process, we had to do the publication, wair 21 days, then go sign/pick up the registry certificate. I did mine in PH though.

Kobojunkie:
I don't understand at all. They just wish to obtain a marriage certificate, so what is all the additional ceremony for? You sure say you actually check with the registry office for details? undecided
FamilyRe: Court Wedding Lagos by cooooooks(op): 2:32pm On Oct 10, 2023
For them, showing up means buying flight tickets and seeking holiday.

What i ubderstand is that there is a process: newspaper publishing, then after the wait period, the people go and sign.

Kobojunkie:
Process what exactly? You mean you can't simply make an appointment then show up and sign the document and done? undecided

TravelRe: JAPA Fever Among Nigerian Youths by cooooooks(m): 1:21pm On Sep 12, 2023
This post is misguided.

People who japa through corner corner, plan to stay illegally, they usually have a worse fate than staying in Nigeria.

However, people who japa properly, especially if semi skilled or skilled, are much better off outside Nigeria.

Bear in mind that some professions, like law, are easier for nigerians practising in Nigeria.

One compromise is remote workers.

MimiSheWrote:
Hello Everyone, first of all I apologize in advance for the long note and also about my English, not actually my first language. cry

My name is Mimi, I was born in Nigeria... But cos of the nature of my dad's profession i have spent around 75% of my life in different countries outside Nigeria... Mostly in EU.

Well enough said about myself, cos this topic is not about me but about Nigerians... Our general mentality and perception of abroad.

Guys listen up... All that glitters is not really gold. Out there is not entirely what people think it is. And you might think just because I have spent so much time outside Nigeria i do not understand the struggle in Nigeria and therefore not qualified to tell you all this "nonsense"..... I completely get it.. trust me.

But even a random 3 years old kid knows that the country is messed up and nothing to write home about, we all know about the Suffering, depression and "starvation level of poverty" in Nigeria yeah.... That's why everyone is desperatly looking for a way out, no doubt... but trust me, JAPA is not 'always' your ticket out of poverty... Well 'sometimes' it is... but most times it's just your direct ticket to being subjected to racism, more depression, more struggles, several mental disorder, homelessness, modern day slavery and the list goes on and on.

Trust me... when it comes to hustling field, success is much more louder than failure. cos our mind was designed to constantly search for hope. which means you would quickly hear about the lucky 3% that made it big through JAPA, but hardly hear about the remaining unlucky 97% that found themselves in worse possible condition after the same JAPA. There's no money tree out here... there's no diamond river out here...
Is there more opportunities? Well yes, But there are millions of people that already done and still doing whatever you intend to come do over here and yet they are still in the worse condition than you are in right now.

You would literally cry when you see what most of our African brothers and sisters go through around the world in the name of Japa. And as a Nigerian?? Trust me it gets worse.. and your chances gets even much smaller. Cos no one trust Nigerians anymore any where around the world and I believe we all know why.

Sorry but I'm not trying to burst anyone's bubble, kill anyone's vibe or being a negative biitch! Naaaah I'm only trying to be realistic! I'm only trying to tell you something no travel agent would ever tell you and something people abroad hardly tell you, and even when they eventually do tell you...? You don't believe them.. instead you result to asking them questions like "why are they still there if it's that bad"? .....

Well.... You wanna know why most of them are still there? Let me tell you why... there is a psychological reason for that... First They are still in DENIAL. Imagine dreaming your entire life to travel abroad and finally have a good life, you probably invested almost everything or everything you have got to make it happen (your money, your time, your last hope)
But then you finally got there and then meet a reality that is entirely different from your life long dreams and perception of these faraway green lands?
I don't know if you know... but our brain is defensive in nature, it will automatically switch straight to denial mode... Leaving you with atleast enough 'hope and wait for a magic or should i say a miracle' (afterall this is abroad where magic happens?)
This is just one of the reasons why most of these people continue sticking around instead of returning home.

Another reason is that they are worried about what people back home would say or think... Because the people back home also got this general fvcked up mentality and very high expectation of people coming back from Japa (y'all need to stop it! Y'all need to get rid of that mentality, seriously embarassed) cos like I said earlier... there is no bleeping money tree over there! I don't know where Nigerians got that idea from in the first place...
It needs to stop, yall driving the youth nuts with such mentality, it's doing more harm than good. That high expectation/ pressure back home is mostly the reason our people are more likely to result to crime out here (so just stop it! cry )

I have met alot of other African nationalities abroad... and amazingly they don't share the same mentality we have about Abroad. They treat abroad as just another hustling ground and not a direct ticket to success... Therefore they are more relaxed and less pressured than Nigerians out here.

Moving Abroad is not such a bad idea though, it worked and still works for few lucky ones (including my Family) it would be wrong and biased of me if I fail to mention that..
There are plenty of and more opportunities over out here not doubt...
But what I'm just saying is that... it's not always that easily reached.. as most people automatically believe.
Look... Somehow all these countries are intelligently designed In such a way that it take back almost entirely everything you make out here from you one way or the other... Through tax, through mind blowing bills or random expenses around every corner.

And at the end of the day you realize you are nothing but a modern day slave building someone's country for free... And without freedom.

Most people screaming Japa in Nigeria are far in better living condition and more stable mentally ,more happy than majority of people in the so called abroad without even knowing it. Sometimes Instead of gambling and betting your hard earned million of naira on Japa, it's more advisable to chill out... relax and invest that Millions in Nigeria. I'm just saying... You would probably end up living a life most people over there can only envy and dream of.

Thanks for reading my long note... I hope this helps someone in making a life decision out there. #ItsYourGurlMimi kiss

There was a time I dated a baker for two weeks. I knew the relationship ll die prematurely from day 1 cos the first outing he took me to was a sub per restaurant which has dirty environment. As in someone that bake should v basic knowledge about food and have class. So what does he take me for? Na test?

Within 3 days, I noticed the guy was just too clumsy. I think he blv he's showing me love by showing up most times but he became too bossy with his questions. Always asking if I v eaten, slept as if I m barbie. What broke the camel's back was when I visited his place and saw that he's not neat. His house has litters of baking ingredients, unwashed pan, bowls etc. He's also someone that press tooth paste like an illiterate, pressing it from the middle as seen in the picture below.

I just can't see myself getting further with a man like that so after two weeks, I just avoided him and summed up courage to tell him he's not my type.
