Ethiopian officials say they have arrested 76 suspects following unrest that erupted in the capital, Addis Ababa, during Eid al-Fitr prayers on Monday. The unrest followed days of tension between the East African nation’s Christians and Muslims in various parts of the country after at least 21 Muslims were killed on April 26 in the northern city of Gondar. Muslim representatives charged that extremist Christian groups carried out the killings and a dusk-to-dawn curfew has been imposed in Gondar, a tourist destination and one of Ethiopia’s largest cities with more than 300,000 people. Six security officials were arrested for “negligence” over the killings, according to officials in the northwestern Amhara region. Following the killings, a few Christian churches were burned in other parts of the country. Amid these tensions, scores of thousands of Muslims gathered for Eid al-Fitr prayers on Monday in the capital city’s central Meskel Square where they planned to walk to the nearby stadium. The procession became violent after tear gas was fired by police. Some windows were smashed, a nearby museum was attacked and rocks were thrown at police, according to local reports. Police arrested some of the protesters. Read more here usnews.com/news/world/articles/2022-05-03/ethiopia-detains-76-over-eid-al-fitr-prayer-unrest |

Guyana has started studies for a pipeline to bring natural gas onshore from the Exxon Mobil Corp-led Stabroek block, natural resources minister Vickram Bharrat said at the Offshore Technology conference in Houston. Guyana said last year it was looking to meet unprecedented growth expected in its power demand by building a new gas-fueled plant and expanding its hydropower capacity. The 120-mile (193 kms) long pipeline would help generate 250 megawatts (MW) to 300 MW of power, Bharrat said on Tuesday, adding that the studies were in their early stages. He did not disclose the cost of the project. finance.yahoo.com/news/1-guyana-studying-natural-gas-154822576.html Guyana is "seriously considering" proposals to set up a refinery in the country, especially as fuel prices worldwide have risen following the war in Ukraine, Vickram Bharrat, minister of natural resources, said on Tuesday. "We have received several proposals from countries around the world. It is a decision we have not taken yet," Bharrat said on a panel at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston. finance.yahoo.com/news/guyana-seriously-considering-proposals-refinery-173337422.html |
hëmpcrete is a material mixed with a binder that hardens it into a solid in the form of blocks and panels. Made from the dried woody core of hëmp stalks and a lime-based binder, hëmpcrete can be cast just like concrete. But unlike concrete and its binding cement, which accounts for about 8% of human-generated carbon dioxide emissions annually, hëmpcrete actually sequesters CO2. According to a recent study, hëmpcrete can sequester 307 kilograms of CO2 per cubic meter (19 pounds per cubic foot), roughly the equivalent of the annual carbon emissions of three refrigerators.ensia.com/features/hemp-hempcrete-construction-concrete-crops-co2/ It can weigh about an eighth of regular concrete, but the architects said they chose it for its acoustic and thermal properties as well its resistance to firefastcompany.com/90706461/a-new-building-in-france-makes-the-case-for-hemp-to-replace-concrete https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4kKxY7KNyw |
Growing meyer lemons Meyer lemons taste similar to regular lemons but with a sweeter, more floral taste. They have a lighter dose of acidity and a thin peel and lack the sharp tang and bitterness of a typical lemon. The flavor can taste a little like a sour lemon mixed with a juicy orange. When ripe, they have a citrusy, spiced aroma. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRZ2XvcTsCw |

A Chinese food delivery driver working three jobs was shot dead mid-shift late on Saturday - as cops probe whether a furious customer pulled the trigger. Zhiwen Yan, 45, was doing the rounds on his scooter in Forest Hills, Queens, at 9:30 pm, cops say, when he was blasted in the chest by an unidentified suspect. The shooting saw Yan and the suspect briefly exchange words before he was hit near 108th Street and 67th Drive, in what is usually a quiet, close-knit community. Police say the incident came immediately after Yan - a father-of-three who moved to New York from China more than two decades ago - had dropped off a delivery. Shocking video obtained by police shows Yan pulling onto 108th Street when the suspect approaches on foot with a gun drawn, cops say. In the clip, which has not been released, Yan tries to roll backward on the bike to get away when the suspect suddenly shoots, sending the scooter falling to the ground. According to his family, the Chinese-born New Yorker had been working seven days a week when he was killed, trying to support his wife and school-aged kids. Cops have yet to make an arrest in the case - and so far, a suspect has not been named. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10775957/Chinese-food-delivery-man-shot-dead-NYC-Cops-eye-customer-disputes-restaurant.html |

economic disparity directly resulting from outcome of polygamous marriage practice in the Muslim area.Fair argument. But this assumes that all people in a polygamous marriage are poor, uneducated, and all the wives unemployed. A working class/middle class polygamous marriage is basically a small firm. 1 man and 10 women in a polygamous setting may produce the same children, but said children are siblingsFair argument. But the same thing can happen just from having large families in small areas. For example, Mexicans complain about "every Mexican" possibly being a cousin. And some black Americans in the south refer to each other as "cousin" because some communities are so genetically small that a random person might actually be a cousin. And attraction to light skin can also cause the problem. High rates of modern consanguinity are linked directly to these views, for example, India, black Americans, and south Americans. the pool of marriageable women is too small to accommodate a growing population of angry, undersexed young men who soon turn feralThis is idiotic. But if we take this seriously. Indians actually have the undersexed problem just from having a society that's too conservative where they obsess over virginity. The problem can also appear where society views females as inferior and overproduces males, for example, India and China. They became the only civilisation in human history to be completely, utterly, comprehensively and decisivelyThis person sounds white, gross, and miserable. They probably fear handsome, masculine, tall, muscular African men marrying 3 of their women. lol They probably tear up at the thought. They should be nervous. Most heterosexual women prefer a black zaddy. lol |
21-25 is quite young. People generally don't know who they are and what they want at that point in life. It's a bit better to marry in late 20s at the youngest. A lot of the reason previous generations married so young is poverty, gender discrimination, conservative lifestyles, and expectations. |
Constructive communication is important, not debating. If a couple communicates well, they can discuss problems and feelings without it being destructive and without fear. |
Good thread. 2 other ways: 1. Play It helps teach patience, problem solving, social skills, creativity, and a lot more. It helps parents learn more about their child and build a strong bond. 2. Enrichment It helps kids discover their interests and strengths, nurtures their mind, and cultivates an optimistic attitude. But it also strengthens the parent-child relationship as a parent creates opportunities and supports them throughout their experiences and journey. You're making lasting memories that, like play, they'll want to share with their children one day. |

I generally agree. Society should be more accepting of (consensual) polygamy, instead of supporting broken homes and casual attitudes toward relationships and children. And many women think polygamy is about a man's fantasy when really it's just an alternative large family. Co-wives take the place of extended family. Polygamy isn't for everyone because it takes more work and maturity than monogamy, but it has a lot of social and economic benefits. It means no childcare expenses, no overwhelmed parents, more incomes, more emotional support for children, more emotional support for spouses, and many other benefits. It's funny when people get so angry at the idea of polygamy, but single mothers, poor families, and high divorce rates don't bother them. And yes, polygamy can only really work with multiple women. |
AudioMonkey:That's an interesting way to put it. lol But I get what you're saying. |

Weights are good, but genetics dictate how it makes your body look. Basically, you have to do decent cardio. Bike, run, swim, row, or skip. Swimming might be the best for guys because it builds up the "t-shirt" muscles. The image below shows women's preference (1000 women surveyed).

This is a personal matter to be decided by family. Government shouldn't interfere. |
