Pls,which one is OBS?nd can dey ve females on d crew?
OBS stands for Orientation Broadcasting Service.

Their job is to make announcements about camping activities...inform you about lost but found items and all that.

And yes females can join the crew.

Everywhere looks calm...on a second thought, I guess it might be a robbery....maybe the bandits were trying to escape hence the shooting.

ideology: i don't think so, you will be given 1k on the first day and 5h later, that's all i heard. till the camp ends, note they provide food and you not going anywhere till the last day.
Stop saying what you don't know.

Transportation allowance is 1,500
Bicycle allowance (okada) is 1000

Total of 2,500. It would be given to you once you get into the camp.
FoodRe: A Students' Food Time-table by CrazyMan(m): 2:18pm On Jun 03, 2013
firestar: Skipping breakfast is not advisable.
Ulcers.
Instead, a light breakfast just to keep you going even if its an orange.
That's not true...do you know how many Nigerians skip breakfast?

Go to popular bus stops by 6am and you'll see the crowd of people there waiting for buses that would convey them to their various place of work...how many of them have ulcers?

when I was still schooling, I don't think I can remember when last I had breakfast...even up till now, I still skip my breakfast cos am already used to it.

Why don't I have ulcers?

You would only have an ulcer when you take a tablet (drug) on a empty stomach. And not when you skip a meal.

You would be given transportation and bicycle allowance when you get to camp...so yes your allowance starts this June.

tuktudicko: gringringringringrin
Spoken like a true leader,
Thanks wink

tuktudicko: First of all, I didn't complain cos complaining changes nothing
Lol you did complain.

tuktudicko: The solution u presented would go a long way in helping both d economy and graduates involved,
True but does the government listen to the cry of the masses?

The nigerian government is hunted by nepotism...no one really cares what ideas you have...they're only interested in themselves and their families, so what's the point.

tuktudicko: But we all know its wishful thinking, we still av a long way 2go as far as dis country I concerned
I agree with you...our leaders are no longer interested in re-branding the NYSC program. I lost hope in NYSC after the 2011 elections when several corpers were killed in Northern states...and nothing was done afterwards.

tuktudicko: mayb u shud think of dabbling into politics cos u gat ideas, dats if money doesn't rule over in a short tym
Lol politics...I'd rather remain in my air-conditioned office working, than dabble into Nigerian politics...I don't have the strength for their cat and mice games.
NYSCRe: NYSC 2013 Batch B House by CrazyMan(mod): 11:13am On Jun 03, 2013
tuktudicko: Crazyman ur arguement aint feasible 2me, cos even if nYSC is made optional it won't still reduce d number of unemployed graduates
the main reason y there is an increase in graduates wanting d programme 2 b scrapped is cos of the compulsory teaching clause
Cos at d end of a full year, there is still no experience in ur field of study attached 2ur CV,
Thereby 'a wasted year as sum wud term it'
How about if the primary assignment is replaced with community service.

So that an NYSC corps member's time in service would be spent serving the posted community with his/her skill. The communities should benefit from the skills of the NYSC corps members.

Every state will state their needs and based on these needs they will be given only NYSC corps members with the skills required. This will also ensure that NYSC corps members are not wasted during service...like you complained in your posts.

At the end of the programme, corps members who successfully served in difficult areas should be rewarded with scholarships and grants for their selfless service and to encourage future corps members to apply to serve in such challenging areas.

What do you think about this?

I don't think its a waste of time, but I feel that the NYSC scheme should be voluntary.

It should be be made similar to how we apply for JAMB. Interested NYSC corps members will fill a form online or through their schools submitting their credentials and choosing 3 choices of states where they wish to serve (i.e. first choice, second choice, third choice at least one choice must be outside his/her tribe, state of residence, state of tertiary education, and state of origin).

Then based on the choices selected, the qualifications and skills of the applicants, number of corps members that can be comfortably managed by the state and Fed government and needs of the respective states, NYSC will assign corps members any of the 3 states of choice. If their is no more vacancy in your chosen states, posting will be denied.

Applicants denied NYSC posting will be given option to apply for other states where there are still vacancies (similar to JAMB supplementary) or quit the program entirely.

If the government can adopt this strategy I believe the program would be worth partaking in, and parents wouldn't develope sleepless nights over where their children would be posted to.

firestar: Eat a decent breakfast.
You'll need it. There's nothing more miserable leaving without some fuel in your system
only to meet some being scare the starch outta you.
As a student or worker, having your breakfast early before setting out makes you weak and lazy for the rest of the day.

In order to be active throughout the day, its advisable that you skip it.
CultureRe: Nigerians, Rituals, Masquerades & Archaic Festivals by CrazyMan(m): 9:51am On Jun 03, 2013
You askes "do we have to deprive others of their rights because of festivals?"
If the festival is accommodating then its worth celebrating.
My answer is this:
You are a christian, and you and I know the kind of noise christians generate especially at night during crusades et all. If a crusade happens to be taking place a street or two away from yours, then be prepared to be deprived of sleep for that night.

Infact, there is a man who preaches every morning at 5am around my house. He uses a very loud microphone and that's the time when I grab my pillow and place it over my head.

All the above constitutes NUISANCE!!

About putting fear bla bla bla in you, that is just the way they carry out their religious rites.
Just go and read that section of the constitution, it will enlighten you.
kiss
You must be a very terrible lawyer (that's if at all you're one)

A debate as to whether or not traditional festivals should be scrapped is brought before you, and your best defense as to why it shouldn't be scrapped is that christians disturb the public with their loud speakers, therefore traditionalist must be allowed to continue with their sacrifices...like I stated earlier, you're a terrible lawyer.

Did you take you take your time to weight the two sides before making this post?

If a church starts her night vigil 10pm, budgets 3 hours for praises and the rest for testimonies, varieties, sermon...etc, can 3 hours of praise (noise according to your posts) be equal to traditionalist who ra.pe, kill, rob and maim people?

You sound like someone who probably spent all your life in the city so its obvious you have little or zero knowledge about what we're talking about.

CultureRe: Nigerians, Rituals, Masquerades & Archaic Festivals by CrazyMan(m): 9:08pm On Jun 02, 2013
Its everywhere bro. Here in Anambra they just finish their Imoawka festival on friday.

Usually, the festival which lasts for a week is to celebrate the culture and tradition of the various villages in Awka, canes were used to flog fellow colleagues who decide to engage one another in a duel for the test of manhood.

With time the festival lost it direction.

Now, during every imoawka festival people are advised to stay at home till its over, cos illiterates villagers who would sit under trees and in front of their houses drinking their lives away would cut branches of trees and flog anyone they set their eyes upon...when I say flog, I don't mean one or two lashes...they would flog you till you bleed.

It doesn't end there...in the evening and late in the night, girls are violently ra.ped by this touts and guys are being robbed (most of them get stabbed in the process)

Now the big question is why would the government allow such festival to keep holding....I must confess that I use to enjoy it back in the days especially whey the various dibas from all the villages begin their march to the town square, but now the festival is a shadow of itself.
FoodRe: What is the price of a 'painter' of garri in your area/state? by CrazyMan(m): 8:17pm On Jun 02, 2013
Here in Anambra, cassava farms are almost everywhere...so find it very difficult to understand why garri should be expensive.
FoodRe: A Students' Food Time-table by CrazyMan(m): 7:36pm On Jun 02, 2013
Ok.

How about skipping breakfast, have your lunch when you come back from lectures...indomine, rice, or fried yam should do, then eat the left overs for dinner.

That's how I survived when I was schooling.

NYSCRe: Things Not To Bring To Camp/ Contraband Items In Camp? by CrazyMan(mod): 6:53pm On Jun 02, 2013
Don't bring any material that has the NYSC logo on it, and don't go with any Nysc shirt, face cap...etc. You would be decamped if you do so.

Don't bring sharp objects like pocket knife to the camp.

Don't bring cooking utensils to camp. Eg pots, stove/gas cooker, plates...etc.

If I remember more, I would post them.
