yorubaamerican: He's NOT a citizen just because his father is Nigerian; he would have to get a passport to be considered a citizen. Even I had to get an entry visa from the Nigerian High Commission to come to Nigeria.

After being here for a month or so, I got a passport. That's how it works. The children of Nigerians CANNOT enter the country based on the fact that they have a Nigerian parentage.
Wao...I didn't have knowledge of this...forgive my ignorance.
NYSCRe: DG Confirms N35,600 New Alawee For Corpers by CrazyMan(mod): 6:58pm On May 13, 2013
sheedy407: Today,13/05/2013,the DG of NYSC officially anounced the increment of corpers Allowance(alawee) from 19800 to 35,600 and will take effect from Batch B corpers stating July this year.
This announcement was made to the public via Channel Television,A lagos based TV channel.
It was also announced that NYSC will now run for 18months which is 1year and 6months.
Your story is going to be regarded as a rumor until proven true...I've browsed through channels tv's web page and I found nothing in line with what you posted.

You can still help us with more genuine links if you've got any.

yorubaamerican: Thanks for your help, Crazy!! Even if he, my kinfolk, who has never been to Nigeria, just wanted to come and visit me, he would still need an entry visa. I do understand what you mean about not worrying, but I want everything to be legit. Thanks again for your comment.
He's also a citizen of Nigeria...why would he need an entry visa to visit he's parents country?

Or aren't his parents Nigerians as well?

There used to be a time when informative, educative threads graced the front page. But now, it seems kids are the ones running this forum because all sorts of silly threads land on Nairaland's front page. I guess it is what it is.

leocentury2001: Pls I have a very pressing issue I have this girl I'm dating she is about 3mths pregant and I never really had the plan 2 marry her but her mother said I must marry her I have been paying all the hospital bill but I have told her categorically dat I will not marry her and she has been a liability 2 me.They rnt rich and she is desperate she has moved into my house what is ur advise cos I want to send her out asap
Why are you so wicked...you knew all this while that you had no plans of marrying her yet you went ahead to impregnate her?

You knew she's poor and desperate yet you kept on having unprotected sex with her now she's pregnant you want to abandon her...who do you expect to take care of her and the child?

I would suggest that you man up and accept your responsibility...that's what real men do.

RomanceRe: Should A Date Molester Have Parental Rights? by CrazyMan(m): 11:44am On May 12, 2013
According to Ohio USA....the court system is debating on whether the rapist have parental rights of his daughter that he conceived criminally. Some people supports that he should maintain his rights and some said he should lose it.

What do you think?
The rapist does not have any right since the child was created through force so it would not be possible to have a harmonious relationship in the family if one parent is damaged physically and emotionally while the other is a criminal under the law.

Secondly criminals are not allowed to benefit from their crimes financially, so a rapist should not be allowed to benefit from his crimes by having any rights to a child, either.

greatdave: One is moved to ask this question considering the tons of 'funny stuff' that make it to the Almighty Nairaland FrontPage...I believe frontpage material should be Informative,Educative and Entertaining, and not 'People tell me am handsome, how true is it?' or 'a pic of tonto dike having her bath' or 'wizkid shirtless'!
So av ur say folkz.... what is nl frontpage material?
Threads like this should sufice...to be honest its one of my best threads on Nairaland. wink

omatule2000: hello everyone just graduated this year and awaiting my service by july. i am currently working with an international NGO based in abeokuta.
Congratulations

omatule2000: I dont want to lose the job as i also have the service year to contend with. please if am able to work my service to abeokuta, is it possible for NYSC to accept a letter from my organisation to allow me continue with them?
Yes is possible.

I know of a guy who worked his ppa to the printing press he worked with before his service...he loved the job and didn't want to quit so he pulled the necessary strings in order to make his dream come true.

Its all about knowing some ogas at the top.

omatule2000: am really scared and afraid of losing the job.please i dont mind if the house can offer useful suggestion and also willing to help me out from this quagmire. thank you.
There's nothing to be afraid of.

Nigeria is a land of possibilities...I'm a living witness to that.

Don't bother about working your posting most people you meet that are into it are fraudulent...just accept wherever you're being posted to, then redeploy to ogun state.

Once you redeploy do whatever you have to do so you can go back to the company for your ppa...

Good luck.

NYSCRe: Can Someone Who Has Dual-nationalitly Apply For A TWP And Avoid Doing NYSC? by CrazyMan(mod): 3:24am On May 12, 2013
yorubaamerican: I want to hire my cousin who was born and raised in the US to come and work for me here in Nigeria.
Sure you can do that.

yorubaamerican: He doesn't want to apply for a Nigerian passport,
Why should he apply?

His american passport and Nigerian surname should suffice.

yorubaamerican: so I'm thinking about applying for a TWP (temporary work permit) for him.
You must be kidding me...

An american citizen applying for work permit in Nigeria lol...do you know the number of illegal immigrants from neighbouring African countries that smuggle themselves into Nigeria?

How many of them bother about work permit?

How many of them even have passports?

My dear you don't need any work permit or visa...with his american passport, he's good to go.

yorubaamerican: I've been trying to reach the relevant agencies to see how to go about doing it all to no avail.
That won't be necessary.

yourbaamerican: I need help. Would it be easier for him to get Nigerian citizenship and come and work? If he does get citizenship would he have to do NYSC since he's slightly under 30? Can someone who has dual-nationalitly apply for a TWP and avoid doing NYSC? HELP!!
Isn't he suppose to be a dual citizen since his parents are Nigerians?

Why should you worry yourself about all that?

Just bring him into Nigeria to work for you.

NYSC becomes a criteria if you intend to work in government parasitals, cooperate organizations...etc.

If you run a private establishment, and you intend to hire him there, NYSC isn't necessary...you can just decide to hire him and no one would question you.

NYSCRe: Can A Nursing Mother Participate In Orientation Camp Activities From Home? by CrazyMan(mod): 9:14am On May 11, 2013
julicoka: thank u so much for ur info. Coming to arrive like batch B wil go camp on 25th june,is it to arrive on d same date
The camp officially opens on the 25th of June...if you arrive a day or 2 before (24th or 23rd) you can secure a good hostel with proper ventilation and good mattrass just incase they insist on you completing your registration before going back home...also it would ease the stress you're going to encounter in the course of your registration process...you would be done with yours before the larger half of the populace arrives.
