A drastic drastic failure of governance at all levels.
Life is so cheap in Nigeria.
Buhari won second term and practically retired in office. The idiot is in daura while his wife and children are in Dubai. |

He failed woefully Covid was a test on his leadership and he failed.Trump should be the one ashamed because he is leaving office with a bad economic record and others.
Biden did very well for an incumbent he had 81 million votes the highest for any presidential candidate he had that while defeating an incumbent
I am glad Trump lost a shameless soreloser.Biden will be president he does well he will be reelected again. As at the time I was writing that post , the race was very close. It's a landslide now. |

I pity who will take over after buhari.
A lot of reforms will need to be made. A lot of stupid decisions to be reversed. A lot of loans will mature and due for payment.
If that person is not highly cerebral, brave and frugal, he is going to sink under the weight of the whole thing.
And the sad thing is that he is going to face real opposition because unlike buhari, he is not going to enjoy as much slavish support to weather through the storm. |
Politics › Re: China Approves Loan For $2.6 Billion AKK Gas Pipeline by CSTRR: 8:26am On Dec 16, 2020 |
winterfell007: It's definitely not a potential revenue generating point. This AKK was first muted during the GEJ administration along with the OB3 project that's currently ongoing. GEJ did a roadshow for both projects in the international market but was only able secure investors that will bonds for the OB3 project. The AAK was perceived as unviable and therefore not bankable by the international investors . That was how the project died until Buhari assumed power. If you read closely the nature of the AKK project, you'll see that China agreed to loan government the money only because NNPC decided to guarantee that project by themselves. If not, they wouldn't dare loan that project that's not viable at all. The reason why OB3 was able to raise money from the investors is primarily because that gas pipeline will feed gas through the escravos pipeline that connects Lagos, a huge market that needs gas and other cities within the West African market part of the gas will be supplied to the eastern region that's beginning to grow their industrial bases. AKK will simply a political project, there's no way investors will invest 2.5billion dollars to pipe gas to the north whose industrial base is not as significant as the one in the south. This is simply another Kaduna refinery in the making I don't see the viability of it as well. That is why using a rail platform would have been better. At least, the rail would serve a bigger purpose of transporting people and trade. We are governed by nepotistic dimwits. They just see free Money and use it anyhow. Money that is not really free. |

idealogical: Contract port Harcourt to Maiduguri was awarded 2 months ago. The last time I heard it was suspended or something like that. There is certainly no hurry to do it. Anyway, my point still stands. If we had a govt with a semblance of intelligence, all hydrocarbon transfer to the north should have been planned through the Port Harcourt-maiduguri rail platform. It's common sense. |

obailala: You're suggesting that gas should be transported via rail instead of pipelines, and at the same time, you think it is the government that is clueless. There is nothing wrong with his proposal. It would kill two birds with a Stone and a more prudent use of resources.

Politics › Re: China Approves Loan For $2.6 Billion AKK Gas Pipeline by CSTRR: 8:10am On Dec 16, 2020 |
persius555: It will make more sense if the loan is channeled towards completing the North to East rail section. That way, LNG can be conveyed by rail to and from the Niger delta to the north. Don't forget the same rail will serve dual purpose as goods can also be transported to and fro.
The problem with this government is not availability of funds but the wastage of available funds. We are digging Nigeria's economic grave with all these Chinese loans flying all around. The Chinese only want to create economic annex in Nigeria. We should be smart with loans. True. The money for the gas pipelines would be enough to build the port Harcourt to Maiduguri rail. |

I don’t understand if it’s lack of exposure that’s is disturbing the current crop of leaders.
There should be future master plan for development of Nigeria. The future Nigeria as it is now is mortgaged for 50 years with all these loan.

Jollylolly: Some people still think UK will sanction Nigerian... In their wildest dreams
Since gaining its independence in 1960, Nigeria has maintained strong relations with the United Kingdom, its former colonial master. The United Kingdom is now one of Nigeria’s strongest allies. I think we need UK more now because of the challenges facing the country. It is not because they like you or want what is best for you. It's because you are their cash cow. The amount that UK universities get from NIgeria alone is more than the GDP of some countries. And that's one of the ways the British milk us. And they need NIgeria now more than ever. They will support a dictator if it keeps NIgeria stable. |

I know they will be released soon...but us justifying a country not standing by its laws is awkward.
Some even said the president had rally...so?

The way we celebrate fraud, lawlessness, corruption, prostitution in this country...is on another level..

Gerrard59: Which is why when ordinary Nigerians attack me on the social media when I call the ills in the country, I'm startled. The other day I questioned Adeboye's comment about the naira, boom! They attacked me when in fact, senior members of the RCCG are applying to Canada's EE, are applying to branches abroad and those who have the money send their kids to study abroad. Yet ignorant Nigerians will argue otherwise
Well, I cannot blame them as Nigeria is all they have especially if there are no options to flee but people should stop burying their heads in the sands. I knew it from my teenage years that the country is gone, my mom told me when I was young but I argued blindly. But currently, I thank God They are concentrated idiots. I don't rate them.
