VIDEOS: ‘It was a joke,’ says lady who accused Davido of impregnating her The cyberspace was agog on Wednesday with the news of two young ladies accusing singer Davido of impregnating one of them. Immediately the news hit the waves, Davido quickly denied the claims . The two young ladies have since released a new video via their Instagram account , claiming that they were just messing around . The bogus claim came on the heels of the singer ’ s delight at welcoming his first child , a male , with long- time girlfriend , Chioma Rowland , on Sunday . Responding to the trending video in which the young lady and her sister say that Davido is responsible for her pregnancy , the singer says the lady ’ s alleged pregnancy is “ audio pregnancy , ” meaning the pregnancy is either not real , or that the lady ’ s claim that he is responsible isn’ t true. The accuser claims that Davido had sex with her at a meeting that took place at a popular Lagos hotel. In the trending video , the older of the two young ladies who identifies herself as Helen , says she had been celebrating her birthday at the hotel when the encounter happened between the singer and her ( presumably, younger ) sister. Helen claims that the encounter resulted in a pregnancy , which is a few weeks old . Reacting to the video , Davido says , “ Ur pregnancy nah audio. ” Also , in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle , Davido describes the claims of the sisters as an attempt at “ clout chasing. ” He also vowed to send them to jail . He tweeted, “ Y ’ all taking this clout chasing and social media shit too far !! Imma go to the end of the world and use all my power to make sure dem h *** end up in prison!!!!!” Before the birth of his first male child on Sunday , Davido has two female children from two different baby mamas , while he has refused to take responsibility for another lady ’ s claim that he also fathered her baby girl . See tweet and video : Davido @iam_Davido Y’all taking this clout chasing and social media shit too far!! Joe Igbokwe, the special adviser on drainage and water resources to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has taken on the former second vice president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Monday Ubani, over his comment on the current dispute between Mrs. Aisha Buhari and the daughter of Mamman Duara (Fatima). Ubani, had on Tuesday, last week, posted a comment on his Facebook wall, expressing his disappointment over the interview granted to the British Broadcasting Commission (BBC) by Daura’s daughter. “Daura’s daughter interview and disclosure depicts how PMB has abused his powers as my president. I am bewildered!” Ubani’s post on Facebook read. In his response to Ubani’s post, Igbokwe said, “Ubani will never get tired. How long will this weeping and gnashing of teeth last? Ubani please find something to keep your humble self busy. You can do better than this.” While firing back at Igbokwe, Ubani wrote, “Joe Igbokwe you need to concentrate on gutter cleaning as Lagos is engulfed in dirt and flood. I see you veer off on several matters that are outside your brief. As a Nigerian and activist and a crusader for justice, equity and forthrightness, your government is constantly under my scrutiny. You got problem with that Chief? You want to allege treason?” The special adviser, who couldn’t bear the comment, replied, “Gutter work abi? I love the job 120% beyond mathematics. I am an Engineer and we love solving problems including building and constructing drains. “An Nsukka Professor told us in a course in Introduction to Engineering in 1985 that, ‘Lawyers blame the Judges when they lose their cases in Court. Doctors bury their mistakes inside the graves, when Architects design bad houses they cover it with trees and vines, but Engineers works are there in the open for all eyes to see. If you fail, you fail woefully’. “If you design a car to run for 120km/hr and it does 100km/hr, you have failed. In Engineering 1+1= 2. For lawyers like Ubani 1+1 = 10, black can be said to be white and yesterday can become tomorrow. Lee Iacocca tells me in his book that wealth is under the engines where hands are made dirty. “For me, I have seen wealth in the drains in Lagos and I will shock the rabble rouser called Ubani in the fullness of time. A Lagos charge and bail lawyer who is supposed to know better, has joined a generation of children of hate to make mockery of themselves concerning my gutter job. “A lady once mocked former President Nixon for being selfish. Do you know his reply to the lady? ‘Young lady I can change tomorrow but you are an ugly lady and you will remain ugly forever.’ “My father told me that envy is a deadly disease. It will not only turn you green but it will also kill you. Case Rested,” Igbokwe added. https://www.independent.ng/igbokwe-ubani-fight-on-facebook-over-aisha-buhari-daura-daughters-feud/?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook |
The door is open for you to quit’ — Umahi tells grumbling appointees Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi has told his appointees that the door was open for them to quit instead of grumbling in his administration. Umahi made the pronouncement on Tuesday in Abakaliki while distributing 68 vehicles (SUVs) to some appointees who include Senior Special Assistants (SSA) Special Assistants (SA), Permanent Secretaries and members of the state House of Assembly. The governor said it was baffling to see appointees grumbling in spite of having new vehicles and earning salaries as such persons were putting themselves in a terrible spiritual situation. “Do you want to be like the people in the village? Everybody here, including myself is privileged and we are not better than those not in this position. “Nobody should take him or herself as a superstar as you cannot be in the system and still be castigating it. “Those who know what they are doing don’t have time to grumble but invent things but when you have nothing to offer, you gossip and complain to cover things,” he said He said the government was “watching such persons with one eye”’, stressing that the vehicles still belonged to the government in spite of being used by the appointees. “The vehicles are 99.9 per cent owned by the government and 0.1 per cent by the appointees and if you are leaving the government, you will give us the vehicles. “There is no calculation in this as the number of days you will ride the cars is your own benefit,” he said. Umahi said that the appointees’ transportation allowances were embedded in their consolidated emoluments as the vehicles were meant to assist them to perform optimally in their various duties. “The old appointees will not get new vehicles but car loans which is optional and this is because the poverty in the land is much. “I cannot be giving new vehicles every four years, our people are suffering and need our attention as their population gives us the little we have,” he said. He called on the state’s leaders to make sacrifices because of the people who mostly could not get a meal to eat, adding that the vehicle he was using was used by his predecessor for eight years. The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Kenneth Ugbala, thanked the governor for providing the vehicles, noting that they cost millions of Naira. “The vehicles would be distributed to some SSA’s, SA’s Permanent Secretaries, 13 Coordinators of Local Government Areas (LGA) development centres, among others. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/10/the-door-is-open-for-you-to-quit-umahi-tells-grumbling-appointees/ |

The Organisation of Ebonyi State Indigenes in the Diaspora (OESID) has criticised the decision of Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi to establish grazing reserve settlements for herdsmen in the state. The organisation, in a statement signed by its Spokesman, Mr Pascal Oluchukwu, in Abuja on Sunday, urged the governor not to impose herders’ programme on Ebonyi’s ancestral land. According to Oluchukwu, if the governor refuses to back out of his plan to impose the programme in the state, he should be ready for some unpalatable backlash from the people. “We, the peace-loving people of Ebonyi State, will not allow Governor Umahi to mortgage our future in his blind support for the Federal Government abhorrent agenda. “This shows that the governor is pursuing his personal ambition after his tenure ends in 2023. “We cannot accept such dictatorial posturing from a man that was only given a limited time and democratic mandate to lead and not to rule,” he said. Oluchukwu, who described herders’ settlement as an outlandish programme, said that it is a sovereign one that cannot be taken by the governor without recourse to the people of the state, where the real sovereignty resides. The organisation’s spokesman, therefore, called on Umahi to immediately rescind his decision. He urged the governor to appreciate the true essence of democracy by allowing Ebonyi people to express themselves freely. “The way and manner the Ebonyi state governor has been cowering and intimidating Ebonyi politicians shows that he does not value democracy. “Sacking politicians and condemning stakeholders with differing views and opinions is a trait common to dictators and not an acceptable attribute of freely elected democratic leaders. “We cannot take Umahi’s degradation and oppression against the people of Ebonyi,” Oluchukwu said. The state government is yet to react to the allegations and threat by this group. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/10/group-flays-umahis-decision-to-establish-herders-settlement-in-ebonyi/ |
Onitsha Tanker Explosion, Preventable –Atiku Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has described the fire outbreak caused by a tanker explosion in Onitsha, Anambra State, as preventable. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, killed at least three people and also destroyed properties worth millions of naira. In a post on Twitter on Thursday, Atiku said, “We've had many preventable fuel tanker tragedies. “I received with sadness, report of a tanker explosion in Onitsha, Anambra State, which caused massive destruction to lives and properties in Ochanja Market area. “My prayers and thoughts are with the families of the affected persons.” http://saharareporters.com/2019/10/17/onitsha-tanker-explosion-preventable-–atiku?fbclid=IwAR1xOVhnSdoQS8-lnzhJxYJKN-5Yq9Qr90GavQzrhLd-k4SPG98Uz6qHeUc |
The Peoples Democratic Party , Anambra Chapter , on Thursday sympathised with the victims of Wednesday ’ s Onitsha tanker fire disaster . The party ’ s Publicity Secretary in the state , Mr Nnamdi Nwangwu , on Thursday prayed for the repose of the souls of all who lost their lives . The party also prayed for quick recovery of those who were injured in the petrol induced fire disaster which also destroyed properties worth millions of Naira . The PDP described the fire incident as unfortunate and blamed the Anambra Government of paying lip service to issues of public safety . The party noted that it was regrettable that firefighters from another state had to come in when it became obvious that Anambra State Fire Service could not do anything to help the victims . “ The PDP in Anambra warned against playing politics with people’ s lives . “ Not long ago , a fleet of fire fighting vehicles were allegedly commissioned by the state government but it’ s worrisome that whenever there is an incidence of fire outbreak , the vehicles would not be seen anywhere around the scene. “ When a fire incident happened in front of Dennis Memorial Grammar School in the same Onitsha a few months ago , it was the same Delta State firefighters that rose to the occasion . “ The same thing repeated itself in Wednesday ’ s tanker fire , a very big market and many other private investments were consumed . “ This is totally ridiculous and unacceptable , the primary responsibility of any responsible government is the protection of lives and properties of her citizens , any government that fails in this regard cannot be said to be working , ” it said . https://punchng.com/onitsha-tanker-fire-pdp-decries-poor-emergency-response/?fbclid=IwAR1HaSeMqUBO-_d3rRLXehfyGJwQIXO1j-ejoC_ip5X8Ri6dC1AuolDzp88 |

Yorubas Won’t Form Alliance With Igbos On 2023 Presidency – Junaid Mohammed Junaid Mohammed, elder statesman and Second Republic House of Representatives member, in this interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI, speaks on factors that will shape the 2023 presidential election and other issues. Excerpts: Do you think the coming together of the South can help the region in securing the Presidency in 2023 against the North? First and foremost, what came out of the gang-ups in previous elections? Also, when talking about the South, is the South only Igboland? Are there no other people in the South? Are the Yorubas not part of the South? So what makes you think that in this day and age and given our history, Yorubas will join with the Igbos in the name of the South or southern solidarity? Anyway, the neighbours to the Igbos are the people from the South- South. Apart from money, have they been able to hold themselves together in order to deliver a President? They have not been able to do that. It is up to the political leaders to see what can be done and do what they are supposed to do. But if somebody from the South decides to come forward and contest the presidency, can you prevent him? I know some of my friends who are interested in the Presidency. If they consult me, I will ask them to go ahead even though I haven’t seen any Igbo man who I will endorse for now. Why won’t you endorse an Igbo man? I will not endorse an Igbo man because all the people who are pretending are not serious and they have the history of being part and parcel of the family that caused the civil war. Are you telling me because John Nwodo is the president of Ohanaeze I should ask people to vote for him? I will not. He came all the way from Enugu with a delegation and we had a meeting in a house not very far from my house, I think it is the house of a former governor of Kaduna state, Lawal Jafaru Isa. We had a meeting there in which John Nwodo went on his knees begging us to make him President. We laughed at him. In our culture, you don’t come here and say you people should make me this or that. We allow people to point at you and say you are good to occupy certain positions. Being a president is not a question of begging people. You also have a lot of people saying it is my time. My time, my foot. Whose time is it? We are sovereign people, we are independent and we have the right to vote for whoever we want to vote for. So, how can anyone come and tell me it is the turn of the Igbos? Igbo turn, my foot. We have to concentrate on electing good people. Unfortunately, we are yet to attain that level of political maturity. Anyway, we have seen how people who were given the privilege to be in that position had performed. If in a free and fair election, any president emerges, that is fine but I don’t see that happening in the current situation where some expired, old men will be asking Nigerians to vote based on ethnic and religious basis. How can somebody who is over 90 years old will be telling young Nigerians how to vote and who to vote for.During their time, why didn’t they have that system and why didn’t they vote like that? Afenifere has said it will be unfair to deny Igbos the presidency in 2023. Chief Ayo Adebanjo in a recent interview said denying Igbos the presidency in 2023 may affect Nigeria’s unity. What is your take on that? So who is denying them the Presidency? Afenifere’s statement is irresponsible and mischief. Which Afenifere are we talking about because there are several factions of them. Ayo Adebanjo has never been elected as the leader of Afenifere so he cannot speak for the group. The President of Afenifere is Chief Reuben Fasoranti. So, on whose behalf is Ayo Adebanjo speaking? How many times has he won election in his constituency? Who does he represent? There is another joker they now called the leader of the Yorubas, the successor to Awolowo, Professor Banji Akintoye. Who does he represent? Is he representing the Yoruba race? Have you seen anybody talking about the Yoruba race and they mention the name of Banji Akintoye?. Even if he is the leader of the Yorubas, will he just go and tell the Yorubas vote this or vote that? If you go to a newspaper and publish your pictures, that doesn’t make you a leader of the Yoruba race. If there is going to be President from the South, most likely it will be a Yoruba man. Will the Yorubas take the presidency now and hand it over to Igbos in the name of gestures? Tell me the Igbo man today who can govern Nigeria. Will you bring this scoundrel from IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu and make him the President of Nigeria or will you bring the crooks in Ohanaeze and make them president? People are just talking nonsense on the pages of newspapers. https://www.independent.ng/yorubas-wont-form-alliance-with-igbos-on-2023-presidency-junaid-mohammed/?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook |

Scotland says it will hold a referendum on independence from the United Kingdom (UK) in 2020 as it faces the prospect of being withdrawn from the European Union (EU) against its will. Scottish National Party (SNP) leader Nicola Sturgeon made this known in her keynote address to the SNP’s annual conference on Tuesday. Mrs Sturgeon, who also heads Scotland’s devolved government, described Brexit as a disaster. “We don’t know yet whether the UK will leave with a deal or without, but we do know that neither of these outcome is in Scotland’s interests. “A no-deal Brexit is unthinkable, but a deal of the type, British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, is proposing would not be much better,” she said. She noted that Brexit was happening against Scotland’s will, giving it a “cast-iron mandate for an independence referendum.” “My call is that the referendum must happen in 2020, as support is rising for independence,” Mrs Sturgeon added. She said in April that her aim was to hold a second referendum on independence within two years if Britain eventually left the EU. In Scotland’s first independence referendum in 2014, 55 per cent voted to remain part of the UK. In the 2016 Brexit referendum, 62 per cent of Scottish voters opted to remain in the EU, while across Britain 52 per cent voted for Brexit https://www.premiumtimesng.com/foreign/357844-scotland-to-hold-independence-referendum-in-2020.html?fbclid=IwAR2x8rVONCYTDQLuiXgqoGkQULPBT90NjAVEUqnKAFM8n2OOdarIpGMUnlg |

Aisha Buhari Attacked Us Inside Aso Rock, Says Buhari’s Uncle, Mamman Daura’s Daughter Fatima, daughter of Mamman Daura, President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, has accused the wife of the president of attacking her inside the presidential villa in Abuja. According to TheCable, Fatima was commenting on a video where the first lady was seen complaining about being denied access to her apartment. She said she least expected Buhari’s wife to act in a violent manner. In the video which trended on Friday while the rumour mill was agog that the president was getting married to Sadiya Umaru Farouq, minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, the president’s wife was seen speaking in anger. In a BBC Hausa interview monitored by TheCable, Fatima said she recorded the video as a proof that Buhari’s wife confronted her violently. “My name is Fatima. I am a daughter to Malam Mamman Daura… if one reasons well, he or she will understand that it is not possible to say that the wife of the president is denied access to her apartment but let me give a context,” she said. “The apartment in question is called the Glass House. You know that there are several houses and apartments in the villa. When the president got into office, he gave the Glass House to our father, Mamman Daura. “You all know that they are friends and are related, more so, they grew up together like twins. When he became president, he gave the Glasshouse to our dad and said he should stay there. Our dad stayed there for three years now until when the president’s son, Yusuf, had an accident and went to Germany for treatment. “When he returned, the president told our dad to move out of that apartment to an even bigger one in the villa, that Yusuf is going to stay and be treated in the Glass House. The Glass House is closer to the main presidential apartment and that will make easier access to him by his mother. It is not in her apartment which is in the main apartment.” Fatima narrated what led to the incident that was captured in the video, saying she recorded it to use as evidence against the first lady. “(On that day) My mom and dad were not around. So, my dad instructed me and my elder sister, both of us are working and we go to work every morning, that we should come on a Saturday and move our belongings to the new apartment the president instructed,” she said. “We planned to park out then and have even concluded moving all the things. All of a sudden, in the afternoon as we were busy on that errand of packing our belongings when we heard noise from outside. I was in an inner room in the house while my sister was in an outer one close to the main gate of the apartment. So my sister went out before I could come out. “On getting there, it was the wife of the president. When she came, the door was locked and she picked a metal chair and broke the door. I have sent the picture to you. My sister that went out was almost hit by the chair. She threw the chair which broke through the door and almost hit my sister. “I was so shocked and afraid of getting there because she was shouting and reigning abuses words and saying we should move out of that apartment. That she has never seen this kind of thing before. I then went back and picked my phone because if one is to say that she acted that way, no one would believe it without a proof. She has already been saying a lot of things depicting that she is being suppressed. “So I recorded it to show our parents and the security, so that they will know the truth should anything happen. Because the way she was raging and shouting, I was thinking that she would pick something and hit us with it or something like that. That was why we recorded it. Had it been we wanted to release the video, we would have done it earlier. But you know if a video clip enters one or two hands, you can’t control where it will get to. “There are even other clips that have not been released, I will send them to you to see how she was insulting the security and how she drove them away saying who are they protecting and calling them bloody idiots. Its all on the video clip. That was what happened.” TheCable was unable to reach Suleiman Haruna, spokesman of the first lady, as he neither responded to calls nor replied a text message sent as of the time this report was filed. https://www.thecable.ng/buharis-wife-attacked-us-inside-aso-rock-says-mamman-dauras-daughter |

He was optimistic that the move would usher in peace in the communities and the institution, noting that Imo was noted for high literacy level, which does not require disrepute. Meanwhile, the attorney to the host communities, Chief Sam Anokam, has said that they were watching events and how the issue would be resolved. Anokam maintained that clear understanding was necessary in the matter. Ihedioha said: “We have a common goal in the area of education because education is very important to us in Imo State. We will dialogue with you to achieve the desired result.” The governor commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Nwajiuba as Minister of State for Education. He continued: “On behalf of the people of Imo, we extend our gratitude to Mr. President for appointing Hon. Nwajiuba as minister. “Your (Nwajiuba) trajectory from the House of Representatives to your appointment as a minister is well appreciated by the people of the state. You are a son in whom we are well pleased.” On his part, Nwajiuba said the Federal Ministry of Education decided to review its position on the FUTO land dispute to demonstrate a commitment to long-lasting resolution. He noted that the Federal Government was desirous of ensuring full academic studies.
