The high CRS score of 557 and draw of 1,500 applicants make a lot of sense. Don't forget that Canada still has almost 2 million applications in backlog. They have to take things slowly. If not, they could get into a crisis once again. They got into this backlog mess by inviting over 27,000 people at once in Feb 2021 and kept inviting many CEC applicants non-stop. I know many people have been waiting but what they are doing is very wise. I never expected them to have a cutoff score lower than 520. When they're ready, I'll keep patiently waiting in the pool with a score of 506. 11 Likes |

Go and write IELTS or PTE exam for UKVI if you have issues with WAEC. Do the computer based test so that you'll get your result in 4 days. There's no time to waste. famzybaba: |

There's no need for a source/link. It's everywhere, and a quick google search would help. I've always known this would happen. If you follow the news, you would've known that in February 2022, the CBN had announced that they would stop supplying banks with USD, and they said that after Dec 31st, 2022, all banks should source for their fx. So obviously, where will banks get fx? The only place they can get it from is diaspora remittance, which will never be enough to meet the fx demands of Nigeria. Things are about to get 10x worse oshocall: |

This 6 weeks application time for student visa is so unfair! They don't even care about the resumption delays that this will cause. Student visa used to be processed with speed as top priority. Now, it's like visit visa. They're supposed to try as much as possible to clear student visa applications even before August. 10 Likes 1 Share |

MBA isn't cheap. Mine costs around £36k. That's because I chose a UK top 9 business school based on the financial times ranking...Also, if you're going for cheap MBA, you will most likely get entry level kind of jobs as they're not highly regarded by uk employers. MBA over there is high risk high reward. It'll be better to do a specialised Masters in your field e.g Msc Marketing, Msc Data Analytics etc... Funky123: 1 Like |

Hello, She should have a "notification of result" document which has been signed & stamped by the school. When I graduated from a private university, that was given to us pending when our Certificate was ready for issuance. If she doesn't have the document, she should ask the school. Exactly! Anyone that can afford to a highly ranked University should definitely do it. Prestigious schools open doors to places and gives access to people you would've never had to meet and build a relationship with. At the end of the day, the business world runs on major networking. justwise: |

Ranking definitely helps to get a very good job especially if you study a relevant course. It also improves your network of individuals i.e the calibre of people that you will meet and bond with for future partnerships/friendships. Personally, I only applied to high ranking schools. They're pricier but I have the money for it. Do note that everyone's financial status is different and if you can't afford the "Russell Group" universities, it shouldn't stop you from applying. Also, some of these top schools can take some percentage off the fees for you. Good luck NaughtyBrainiac: |

There are financing establishments that actually give loans to foreign candidates. I know 2 Nigerians who are presently schooling in the UK thanks to the foreign loans. The criteria is that you go to a highly prestigious university and study a lucrative business course. So, studying something like MBA, Msc Finance, Msc Investment management, at a school like University of Cambridge will most likely fetch you a job with some of the biggest investment banks in the world. Therefore, they are sure that you will be able to pay back your loan. There are loans for people who have admission to study high potential courses in schools like London Business School, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Kinds College London, Imperial College London, University of Edinburgh, University of Warwick, University of Manchester, Durham University, Lancaster University etc. If you do a quick google search, you will even see the financing companies that do it. I won't mention the names of the two I know seeing that this is nairaland but just do a quick google search. sniperaz: 1 Like |

It's not Msc! She's doing an MBA from Oxford University which is one of the best schools in the whole world. That's like going to the Harvard University of Uk. Average starting salary for an Oxford University MBA graduate is £114,000. (Reference - https://rankings.ft.com/rankings/2866/mba-2022). Like I said before, the biggest companies in the world recruit directly from ivy league universities like London Business School, Cambridge, Oxford, Kings College London, Imperial College, Durham University, University of Edinburgh e.t.c. All these schools already have partnerships with these companies so getting a job is not an issue. The schools only admit the most intelligent and ambitious students so impressing the interview panel is usually quite easy. Also, her parents can afford the fees so why not? Paying £65k school fees and getting a yearly salary of £114k working for Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, JP Morgan, McKinsey etc is a huge bargain. I know someone from my university who did her MBA at London Business School and got a job offer in her first year of the MBA and before she even started working, the top company she works for gave her £30k cash as a sign-on bonus (basically saying thank you for joining us). I know a lot of Nigerians can't afford to go to ivy league schools but that doesn't mean that those who can afford to do so shouldn't go because it's expensive. Deering1008: 10 Likes 3 Shares |

Yeah, I understand you. Although, Herriott Watt is not highly regarded in the UK for business/MBA. Anyone going to business school should use Financial Times because their criteria for ranking is the best and is the one used by top companies in the world. Once again, the best companies recruit directly from these schools so if ones profile is strong enough, they can be able to scale into the companies. Lol! My school fees for MBA is £35k. It's one of the best business schools in the UK. My friend that is in Oxford University is paying about £65k for her MBA. The career prospects and connections for going to a top UK school is worth it and top companies like Apple, Google, Amazon etc like recruiting directly from those schools. That's why we don't mind the fees because the salary benefits after graduation is enormous (including the calibre of people we will have in our class which will lead to strong industry connections). Edinburgh is a very beautiful city and there are many job opportunities for students. The only down side with the city is the harsh scottish cold (if you don't like cold, it can be depressing) and the cost of living in Edinburgh is also really high compared to most cities. deeceo: 2 Likes |

Newcastle and Cranfield are very good schools. Newcastle is a reputable Russell group university and it's also in a big city so finding student jobs will be easy for you. Cranfield has a highly ranked business school (if you're going for a business course). If fast employability after graduation is your goal, go for the 2 schools i mentioned. If you don't care about school ranking & post-graduation employment prospects, then you can go to the other two schools. But also remember that Uni of greenwich is situated in London & it's a VERY expensive city to live in especially as a student. abumeinben: 1 Like |

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm still processing my school applications but let's not lose faith on this journey. According to cic news, it seems like IRCC may resume draws within the next few months. Although, application processing time is still estimated to take between 2-3 years but this will be a step forward for most people that can't afford to go to school abroad. https://www.cicnews.com/2022/03/express-entry-ircc-aims-to-resume-fswp-and-cec-invitations-this-spring-0323664.html |

Aston is a good university and finding work in Birmingham will be easy for your husband because it's a big city and cost of living is not as high as London. Aberdeen is an affordable city to live in if you don't mind the long nights and very cold Scottish weather. Edinburgh is a beautiful but very expensive city. Laffz25: 5 Likes |

Thank you. The whole story is very dodgy. It seems to me that the man and his wife want to Japa without returning. That £5k deposit to a school is another reason why the ECO will question their rush. It looks like the deposit was made in order to deceive the ECO that they will return. Nigerians have used all the scopes before giselle237: |

That is not the mistake oga. They would've still denied you even if you mentioned it. They have said this time and time again. Have a personal account and operate your business account. As far as the UK is concerned, the funds in your business account may not be readily available to you. This is why you are supposed to be paying yourself monthly salary. This salary is supposed to be the money you are to spend and save from. fela1000: 1 Like |
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by cutebear: 5:37pm On Jan 27, 2022 |
Everything is well explained in the letter now. You know what you did.... You did money lodgment. Some time before you applied, you started depositing money in your account. This is never ever accepted. Your 6 months bank statement is supposed to show a healthy flow of transactions from the beginning to the end. But instead, you tried to inflate you bank balance. The ECO does not care about your bank balance. People with 20 million in their account get denied while people with 2.5 million can be approved. Based on the movement of transactions in your account from the beginning to the end, they can determine the kind of person you are. Also, you are self employed but there is no proof of salary deposits in your personal bank account. For example, I am employed with Katan bank and on the 26th of every month, I am paid 350k salary. This salary payment will reflect in my bank statement. Your salary and business accounts should be separated. All business transactions should go through your business account ONLY. You should've read through this forum before even applying. All the keys to success are in here. If you could've maybe started from page 400, you would've learned a lot from people's past mistakes. fela1000: |
