ATIKU SWIFTLY CONGRATULATES NEW NATIONAL ASSEMBLY LEADERSHIP (Bye bye to party supremacy. It is uncanny how similar Buhari's message above is to that of Atiku) Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated the newly elected leaders of the National Assembly, admonishing them to see their elections beyond the narrow interests of respective political parties. The former Vice President in a press statement issued by his media office on Tuesday, noted that with the elections of its presiding officers, the 8th National Assembly should swing to work and put the overall national interest beyond the personal political interests of its members. Atiku said that with the election of its presiding officers, the 8th National Assembly has prepared the ground work for a full legislative business. While congratulating the new leaders of the parliament on their election, Atiku reminded every member of both the Senate and the House of Representatives of their responsibilities to their constituents, which, he said, is to put national interest before their individual political interest. Irrespective of the political mix through which the presiding officers emerged, he noted, the 8th National Assembly should never lose focus of its role as a partner in progress with the other arms of government, especially the executive arm. “The Nigerian people look up to the new National Assembly to work with the executive arm in finding solutions to the problems of insecurity, poverty, illiteracy and joblessness in the country. Their election is indeed a call to duty, and it is a call for which they cannot afford to fail the nation.” |
Abubakar Atiku, Buhari's de-facto VP, and Man-Friday was part of the plot and a key Saraki backer. Saraki visited Atiku at his Abuja home earlier today to cement the deal.

Buhari’s position was conveyed in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina on the election of the President of Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. MOHAMMADU BUHARI The statement reads: “President Muhammadu Buhari has noted the outcome of the just-concluded election of leaders of the National Assembly. “A statement issued by the Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) said the president would rather that the process of electing the leaders as initiated and concluded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) had been followed. Nonetheless the President took the view that a constitutional process has somewhat occurred. “President Buhari had said in an earlier statement that he did not have any preferred candidate for the Senate and the House of Representatives, and that he was willing to work with whoever the lawmakers elected. That sentiment still stands. “Though he would have preferred the new leaders to have emerged through the process established by the party”. Adesina stressed that the stability of our constitutional order and overall interest of the common man were uppermost on the President’s mind, as far as the National Assembly elections were concerned. The President called on all the elected representatives of the people to focus on the enormous task of bringing enduring positive change to the lives of Nigerians. |
Read Senate President Saraki's acceptance speech below: “I am most honoured and privileged to be elected to serve as President of the Senate. I accept with humility and respect the honour you have conferred upon me today.” “We have today demonstrated that even though we may belong to different parties, we are ultimately united by our common desire to entrench democracy and allow its principle guide our conducts.” “The change that our people voted for is a change from a life of poverty, misery to a life of prosperity, happiness, security and comfort, accountability and respect for democracy” “This is a change that all of us in the National Assembly must strive to justify. Nigerians want to see a proactive National Assembly.” “My dear distinguished colleagues, we are entering at a time when a lot is being expected of us.” “Nigerians expect that the new senate must make laws that will reform the oil sector, the security systems, diversify our economy, create jobs and make doing business in Nigeria more competitive.” “In the coming days, we shall be converging to hammer out an agenda that will help us focus and deliver on the minimum expectations. I have inherited from my predecessor a great landmark.” “May the future generation of citizens look upon the 8th National Assembly as a true assembly of our people’s representatives who did their best in the service of our nation.” “I congratulate ourselves for this great day and the beginning of a new chapter in the history of our great Nation.” |

Buhari delivers first punch. Waiting for Tinubu's response. |
It is triumph for legislative independence as Nigerian national assembly members refuse to be teleguided by APC political machinery largely controlled by Bola Tinubu. It appears President Buhari, a stickler for time, tacitly made himself unavailable for the planned last minute damage control meeting by APC hierarchy at International Conference Centre, Abuja. Whilst they gathered for the ill-fated meeting, Buhari stayed away. Whilst Tinubu, Remi (his wife), Akume, Akande, Gemade, Lai Mohammed, and Gbaja himself waited in vain, the real PLAN-B was executed in the National Assembly, and Saraki was elected Senate President against Tinubu's wish. I am still wondering if Tinubu actually understood what Buhari meant when he said at Eagle Square that he "belongs to everybody, and does not belong to anybody". Did the coin drop that this particular comment was directed at specifically him? This is Buhari's first real sure steps to side-lining Tinubu and whittling aware at his influence. Lai Mohammed at Tinubu's behest has said APC will not accept the emergence of Saraki and Dogara as Senate President and Speaker, respectively. If one may ask: Which APC, is the wing loyal to Dogara/Saraki/Buhari or the ex-con Gbaja and Lawan? The three most powerful men and top three political figures in Nigeria today (Buhari/Saraki/Dogara) are no longer loyal and are unwilling to be led by the nose by Tinubu. So what will he do? Sue them, or expel them from the party? Swearing in of the lawmakers will happen tomorrow. So will Rep Gbaja eat the humble pie and present himself to be sworn-in by his conqueror, Dogara or reject his seat? *** WE ARE WATCHING THE DRAMA IN 3D *** ![]()

nwando:Looks like the cows are on dry fasting ![]() He should have gone to uncle OBJ to take tutorials on farming. He is busy protecting his legs with white socks from tse-tse fly, while the cows starve ![]() |
tucky200:We are watching in living colour and hope things pan out as we hope. BTW: military rule is a different kettle of fish from civilian rule, bros. How will he handle the very corrupt National Assembly?? Jail all senators and Reps members?? |
niceguy7:He said he was ready for the job. He had more than enough time to plan for all major problems in the country. In fact he was itching to step into the office. He said he had a magic solution to BH menace, which he refused to disclose to previous govt. He has the office to himself now. So what is he waiting for. Just hope I did not make a wrong choice voting or this man. |
Descartes:Oh good Lord have mercy. We hope the mathematics will not come true oooooooo-o-o-o-o Presido Buhari needs to do something faaaaaaaaaast |
hangzhouro:So far..... not very encouraging ![]() |
IyaIode:Omo ogufe, why not post yours first so we can judge. Face the issue: Buhari is doing a terrible job looking after mere cattle |
xcolanto:Are you serious Tell me something ![]() We are watching him in 3D ![]() |
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday held a closed-door meeting with the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki(retd.).It was learnt that the meeting, which held at the Defence House, Abuja, was aimed at assessing the security situation in the country against the backdrop of renewed attacks by the Boko Haram sect.Just before his inauguration, Buhari slipped away to UK, to go and rest and refresh before the swearing in ceremony. Now barely 2 days in office, he has jetted out to Niger Republic. All these "ajala" matters will not work ooooo. He should sit his butt down in Aso Rock and do the job we elected him to do. To rule Nigeria of 2015 no be beans or moi-moi ooooo! |
And I certainly don't want Nigerians looking like these cows after 4 years. |
rabimlomo:If he does not want to eat, that is his choice. But he should not force the cows to go on dry fasting. Haba!! ![]() |
raumdeuter:Focus on the issue man.... A man who is struggling or cannot look after a few heads of cattle, can he look after over 150 million Nigerians ![]() My prayer is that he should do better job looking after Nigeria than he has done at running his personal farm. Chikena!! |
weirdtee:Look at this one ![]() Can't you see that the animals are suffering ![]() |
These cows don't look healthy at all...
|
Seems General Buhari is doing a very poor job of looking after his cows. The cows are severely malnourished. The feeding troughs are empty and there is absolutely no water for the cows to drink. If this farm was in the US or UK, RSPCA - Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty against Animals (www.rspca.org.uk) would have been called to shutdown the farm. I just hope Buhari will do a better job of looking after Nigerians. We have suffered enough.

veraponpo:Please we don't want gold and diamond decked ojuju First or Second Lady here in Nigeria again. We have had enough of that during Patience and Turai era. What we want is fulfilment of Buhari's election promises (stable power, zero unemployment, functioning schools and hospitals, etc). She can relocate to Saudi Arabia and wear he gold over there!! That is her business. We don't want any distractions from an uncontrollable First Lady irritating Buhari daily with negative press reports. Chikena!! |
pressplay411:Who bestowed on you the omniscient powers to know who I, and millions of long-suffering Nigerians voted for?? Can we also say that Shehu Sani, an ardent supporter of Buhari who won the senatorial seat in Kaduna Central on APC platform, and has come out to openly cautioned Buhari on the First Lady issue is also a "Tanoid" who does not like Buhari? https://www.nairaland.com/2351107/apc-senator-elect-shehu-sani-cautions This is how praise singers like you sing past leader to sleep and failure. With friends like you, I am not sure Buhari needs any enemies! Mr Man, I will only reply you in Fela's song, "teacher don't teach me nonsense". Buhari is Nigeria's President, not your private property. He does not need your protection. OK? He has an ADC and retinue of bodyguards and aides to do that job for him. In fact, I day say, it is praise singers like you who will applaud all his mistakes that Buhari should beware off, and if possible distance himself from. |
This scam explains why Nigeria has the dirtiest bank notes in the entire world. Usually we blame it on market women, meat sellers and mechanics. Truth is the scam has been going on for years, and top CBN officials at their headquarters are part of it. EFCC knew about from time immemorial. Why are they just opening their mouth now? These guys paraded are small boys in the chain at Ibadan. How about other CBN regional offices and the Abuja headquarters. No scam like this goes on for years without the top Directors including the CBN Governor knowing about it. |
Buhari has broken 4 campaign promises so far, and it is not even up to 96 hours since he took oath of office: https://www.nairaland.com/2347522/buhari-breaks-3-campaign-promises 1st Promise Broken: Declares Assets Secretly. During his campaigns, Buhari had promised as part of his 1st 100 days in office to declare his assets publicly. Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), said he would publicly declare his assets and liabilities, if voted into power. Buhari stated this in a document obtained by our correspondent in Abuja on Thursday. The document highlights what Buhari will do in his first 100 days if he assumes power on May 29. He said he would encourage political appointees in his administration to also declare their assets publicly. http://www.punchng.com/news/i-will-declare-my-assets-publicly-buhari/ 2nd Promise Broken: Buhari Gives Office of First Lady to Aisha. Buhari had promised during his campaigns that he will abolish that office. Today the official portrait of Aisha Buhari sitting regally with the Nigerian flag behind her was released officially by the new Buhari Presidency. http://lindaikeji..com/2015/05/official-portrait-of-new-first-lady.html As a matter of fact this promise was broken before his inauguration when the new First Lady led wives of APC Governors and other APC women chieftains to a jamboree Conference in Argentina in her expected new official capacity as First Lady. (See second picture below). http://www.channelstv.com/2015/05/12/aisha-buhari-seeks-legislation-against-early-marriage/ Mrs Buhari herself gave insight to her desire to retain the First Lady office when she said during the campaigns that "she will be a wife to her husband’s first before being the First Lady". As if that was ever in doubt. 3rd Promise Broken: Buhari says He Will Not Go After Past Cases of Corruption To my knowledge, there is no statute of limitation on corruption in Nigeria laws and Penal Code. So why is Buhari chaining himself in this manner? Or does he plan to do it OBJ style - selectively against his enemies? Buhari said during his inaugural speech that those who think he will come after them should perish the thought. He said "the past should belong to he past". Please note that that Buhari would go after past leaders and highly placed persons only on account of their massive corruption, nothing else. So essentially, he is saying he is not interested in PAST CURROPTION, only FUTURE CURROPTION. This is a very strange concept, that even dwarfs GEJ much vaunted "stealing is not corruption" campaign mantra of APC He has just instructed Director of Public Prosecution to withdraw ongoing EFCC case against ex-Gov Timpre Sylva and APC Governorship candidate in April 2015 election. https://www.nairaland.com/2351049/corruption-case-against-sylva-withdrawn 4th Promise Broken: Appoints 2 Media Aid today, 1st June 2015: Buhari had promised to run a lean government. So why does he need 2 media aides, when he will have a whole Ministry of Information to himself ![]() |
aresa:I suppose it is Linda Ikeji that made Aisha Buhari to sit down in a plush seat, planted the Nigerian flag behind her, told her to say "cheeeeeese", snapped the picture, and issued the picture as "Official Portrait of First Lady". ![]() The word "official" derives from the word "office". If there is no "office", there cannot be "official". Get it?? Nigerians have a funny habit of hiding their brains in ravine, allowing reason to take flight, and putting on blinkers when they want to defend the indefensible |
DDoubleUps:Amen! Ameeen!! Ameeeeeeeeeeeeee...eeeeen!!! |
Fourth promise broken 4. Buhari says He Will Not Go After Past Cases of Corruption To my knowledge, there is no statute of limitation on corruption in Nigeria laws and Penal Code. This is a very strange concept, that even dwarfs GEJ much vaunted "stealing is not corruption" campaign mantra of APC As we speak the Director of Public Prosecution Mr Diri of Federal Ministry of Justices has withdrawn the N2.4b corruption case against ex-Gov Timpre Sylva and APC governorship candidate in the April 2015 election |
