^^ Nuture and grow tribalism more and more on one hand and claim to be taking it down on the other. Sigma(Work Done) = 0. In fact, -ve if you consider losses analogous to heat (hot air), friction (fight and loss of goodwill), etc |
I will posit that most Nigerians who only studied in a Nigerian university have a very narrow idea of scholarly research. Unlike in Nigeria where "anything goes", it is totally different in foreign universities and those universities that are always top on the world wide university rankings. I wonder how he did not pass his Ph. D candidacy exams? I read about 36 differential equations which he could not patent, but what peer-reviewed journal published these equations? This is VERY important if you will consider yourself an "academic" and not some minor task because your ideas and claims will be independently verified by other scholars who are very knowledgeable in that field. How come he doesn't have that? Now, in this field, when integrity is lost, everything is lost. If you are known to be unethical, nothing you say or do carries any weight or respect in the research community. Even your professional engineering certification will be withdrawn if it has been shown or it is believed you have violated the ethics and integrity of the profession. Nigerians should look at these things dispassionately and not grounds for tribal fighting! |
After all the posts, arguments and insults, mark this: this 2012 budget implementation and effects will even be worse for Nigeria. Not so much for the money but the brainlessness of the daftest president and most fooliesh leadership till date in Naija. |
^^ I have no idea how educated or exposed to academic rigor and the highest demands of integrity you have but what Emeagwali is reported to have done is a NO, NO! In fact, most universities (I guess most of the TOP ones in the world) require that you take ethics courses! I speak from my own personal experience and it is imbued into you that it makes absolutely no sense to make claims that are not original to you talk less of outright lying! If a man lies about a $1000 dollar award, that is a shame because so many people get grants, awards and funding that far exceed that, yet they don't go making such claims. I can't believe that he has no papers in IEEE because in that field, this is almost a "de facto" kinda thing and people who even have published papers in IEEE are not making such claims. In essence, please stop looking at this as bad belle. As an engineer, there is something called ethics and integrity and these are more important than all the engineering knowledge and expertise a so called engineering graduate can possess. |
asha 80:You might have observed I don't up any war ante on NL and my post was not calling for a "civil" war in the usual sense. This guy will be eliminated for his stupidity and that is what I alluded to, nothing more. All his co-thieves can follow him in the same vein as the real war in Nigeria should be the thieving leaders VS the average Nigerian that has been waiting patiently for several years for things to get better but it never does. The only thing gets better is the amount of money stolen and increasing punishments endured by average Nigerians. I don't live in Nigeria but I am as tired as everyone who lives in that place! |
Fresh Air, anyone?? ![]() This foo.l of a president has done nothing about corruption - the real problem. The number of companies increased from less than 6 to about 27 just in 2007 or so, does it mean more millions was suddenly added to the population therefore requiring more importers and more subsidy - the answer is NO. The so called KPMG report indicting the NNPC and the FG of corruption: Has it been published and acted upon? NO. Yet, this foo.lish dullard is ready for revolt? I hope he is ruthlessly killed by the military type of violence that erupted in 1966. The only thing that will be painful is he will not be able to witness his own personal suffering! This man is a foo.l and Nigeria is surely going nowhere fast! |
Ramsey is annoying! ![]() |
^ One thing for sure, except things have changed with our Naija people back home: You CANNOT get any sort of negativity back home, and the ones you see on NL is just because of the anonymous of this public forum. A lot of people in my family were born and live outside Nigeria too and coming home, there's no difference in the way they're treated so ignore this apparent "negativity" of the folks here! BootyonMe (another poster) summarized what is responsible for this kind of behavior and I think she captures it appropriately. One thing though is if you visit Nigeria, just enjoy it and don't even try and compare openly as people will not appreciate that. Of course, for people you are close to like your dad, you can draw up such comparisons without any issues. Instead of the so called negativity here, you may in fact be so over-pampered with care and attention, you would almost complain! For me, I had to tell them at home that when next I am home, no one should ask me repeatedly to eat-eat-eat, rest-rest-rest, don't go out, it's too late, etc!About your name, I used to have some Lara chick in my class and now wondering if it is you! Maybe not, who knows? ![]() |
Why is it every time something like these happens, you guys must invoke Ojukwu's name? Look, he has done his bit and it's time you guys (everyone) stands up for himself, or won't you let him rest!? There's no security in Nigeria and this is just a manifestation of it, how come no one is questioning that? Someone is still talking about Usman Dan Fodio who died in 1817, yet the overly-stupid Jonadense president said yesterday that Nigeria is NOT ready for state police, most of you didn't think about what that implies. Is it UDF or Ojukwu that you should be mentioning their name (who are gone) or the dead but living president who is supposed to lead? If states get their state police, it will go hand in hand with a lot of other things: a more "perfect" federal arrangement, better resource control, better security that is on ground and can respond immediately to this kind of barbaric murders, better intelligence. If you lived in a place where you can hardly get away with even one concealed murder, would you be going to kill people in the open? You will most likely be shot dead or arrested, killed eventually or kept away for almost permanently. This forward-looking conversation is what I think is needed now, not shouting the names of people who have done their bit and moved on! |
Must you guys e-fight all the time? Screaming my name "CyberG" all about this thread will only chase the damsel away from ATL to CA, where I hold sway! Or you guys don marry finish for una side? LOL ![]() @Tadelara, why not start by telling us what your name means because its got to mean something? Do you know what it means? |
You are certainly well-accepted already! The Yorubas are perhaps the most accepting and friendliest of the many peoples in Nigeria. Your dad will tell you more just ask him. |
^^ Becomerrich, most people on NL know that you are hilarious but if I had to chose between whose account to believe on this issue, the answer is as clear as K is different from M! ![]() |
^ Again you little kids over-fed with akpu and loaded down with propaganda and never bothered to know anything about history. - If you are not from his tribe, you will see him as a tribalist because it was someone else's job to lead you but he led his people well. If you wanna know, go to Lagos or Ibadan and ask your question in the market place. - Awolowo was a strong supporter of true federalism, which also helps immensely all the other minority tribes which would have made it difficult for some larger tribe t unfairly dominate a smaller tribe. How fair is that? Did you know that the Mid West clamored for the same thing at the conference before the declaration of Biafra? How is that tribalism? - If you live in a glass house, don't throw stones. Some uneducated and mostly young tribalists come on NL to say things like this to see if it changes or corrupts the opinions about other but it never does. When you say tribal politics cost him, can you agree that secession cost Ojukwu any chance to win any kind of democratic position in Nigeria? So much so, when he contested in his own region, party and yet he did not win? - About the monetary policy, that has been dealt with in an exhaustive thread here on NL and he spoke publicly way back in 1983 in the presence of journalists including Okey Ndibe, Sonala Olumhense and more. You probably were not born then or still on feeding bottle, so we should accept your position ahead of your lie inspired stories? |
@ Valleyice - The Biafran war should NEVER be forgotten and I like a topic like this one. - More importantly, the LESSONS of the war MUST be learned rigorously so no one leads millions to their graves again. - I think you should read about the mood that was set after the Aburi Accord was reached to understand some more. - You may have heard or read stories about the war but you definitely cannot think that explains what killed Saro Wiwa and Dele Giwa. Did you experience Abacha or IBB and read the stories that was told about these killings? - I think some of the people you mentioned have quite a record on NL and while I hold no brief for them, I don't think you should call them little children. |
I actually read and SAW all the images. The major lesson: WAR is bad and should not be taken lightly. A leader should be able to look from the present and see clearly what the future of his actions would mean and by several accounts, the leaders of Biafra did not see this level of devastation coming. The same when Hitler attacked Soviet Russia during the WW II, the return fight was not designed to fight back: their obvious intent was totally annihilate everything such that there was not even one piece left. This documentary should teach young Nigerians not to repeat the mistakes of the past. In killing other peoples first, you cannot expect that their retaliation will be in a certain measure. Gloating and boasting at the northerners after the January 1966 coup was a bad move and this is one of the major factors that heightened the hatred of the northerners. Sadly, you still see several young tribalists gloating about their "regions", how the north is backward, uneducated, etc. Did you guys know that the Nazis reserved more hatred for the Soviet Bolsheviks because they were more "uncivilized" than the French? For example, an illustration was how the French had flush toilets while the Soviets had just crude latrines? A leader should see that after the thousands that were killed in the north and in order to stem the tide of killings, declaring a war that would lead to millions of people killed is very unmathematical and bad judgement regardless of how you slice and dice the argument. An approach that has already cost thousands of debt should not be upstaged to one that will result in millions in debt. This is the lesson that people should learn. Diplomacy and negotiation on at least fair grounds accomplishes a whole lot more than un-winable wars. |
Did the tribalists here read the comments made by Ojukwu about Awo (and other actors before and after the war)? He certainly espoused no hate towards them but little over-fed kids who only heard biased stories discount his own assessment and you think we should accept your own opinion? All of it was posted on this forum and I saw it barely 24 hours ago. What is your problem o peoples with bigotry and tribalism? Is it a curse? One thing is this: a lot of you tribalists are not gracious and very ungraceful. I find it very refreshing when I read very graceful comments coming from SWs and Northerners to SEs (generally) but tribalist SEs are grossly ungracious and classless! Do you know that diplomacy will do what your opponent resists much faster than going to war? Even people who are gracious on Ikemba's passing are still vilified, if they are ungraceful and say something uncouth you and most well adjusted people of any tribe will not like it, if they say nothing you say they don't care - biko what do you want? Let Bianca and Ojukwu family reject any well wishes rather than create virtual enemity that only exists in the hearts and mind of you tribalists. |
After your ass shit for your mouth? Next! |
Don't derail thread with Fresh Air as that should go in a different thread. |
Well, you can reach any conclusion Wesley, either in real life or NL, I am convinced of my positions and can provide references to support my positions. However, I can't help if anyone does not find my position in agreement with theirs. I have made very strong comments about OBJ, Yaradua and GEJ and it has nothing to do with their tribe. . . I am just averse to incompetence and it doesn't matter if the person is my personal friend. |
UPDATE: I guess this is BootyonMe. I don't think you are a tribalist and actually edited my post. ^^^ I said clearly that if anyone attacked me personally, I WOULD respond. Look at abuses made against me before that response you conveniently quoted: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-797390.32.html#msg9489400 https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-797390.32.html#msg9489656 https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-797390.32.html#msg9490429 https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-797390.32.html#msg9490574 |
wesley80:No, this is not meant to sanctimonious. Show me any post for which I started abuse FIRST and not when I was INITIALLY abused. In your case there are several where as soon as any poster says something about your fresh air president (not even necessarily against you), it is instant abuse. I make very good effort to contribute objectively but if someone abuses me, what do you want me to do? Of course, even in real life I never back down from giving a deserving belligerent the beat-down he deserves and so online, he gets the same treatment. ![]() |
^^^ I know it hurts badly when you have no valid points to present so you can only LIE about Awolowo when you were NOT witness? Did you see how people are convincing everyone here that Ojukwu ate some poison or was killed by AIDS? While I know this is just awful stuff and people who have passed on should be left alone, posts like yours is what further destroys the moral fabric of otherwise non-tribal NLanders. Give up tribalism before it destroys your soul. |
^^ This man! Go here ==> https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-817310.0.html Yes, he is a respectable man in his own right and I can make my own comments and have never disparaged his person. If you have evidence to the contrary provide it otherwise, remain silent forever about your lies! |
^^ Thank you Doctor! Let us see what some of the ardent abusers have to say in addition. |
^^^ Thank you and as someone who has lived and been to almost every part of Nigeria, I never get this kind of vibe! All my Igbo chicks been they roll tight and this NL things na wah o but I think a lot of them have been lied to and can not use their own brains to read, understand and dissect issues. Some of them are even old and married while young guns here take them to school everyday and they get mad, why? I still got friends here and whenever someone even slightly suggests tribe, I ask them immediately about the situation where Nigerian leaders never remember their tribe when they are sharing the money in the executive, legislative, judiciary and others but you working honestly and trying to live a normal life is deceived? But well as you said some people cannot and will not change on tribalism. |
Why do most NL curse and hate on the simplest of political issues on NL? When you present an argument backed by references, someone who never read any relevant books gets mad and start cursing, why? Most of the issues are historical for which they were not alive, yet they fight as if they saw it while the ones who fought then have since made up and moved on. Are there too many over-fed babies on NL whose only claim to existence is fighting on every topic that goes against the stories they were told in the past? Let us learn to argue objectively rather than resorting to cursing, hating and bigotry because it only shows how empty such a person is! |
^^^ You're barking up the wrong tree Mr. Dumb dump Pumpkin! Who are you? If I descend on you, I will disgrace that your balding fat head carrying you wide flat nose onye ara! It pains you that you got caught in your lies but trying now to distract the thread? LOL. . .big fat big stomach looooosserr!! ![]() |
Again, the problem here is you people refused to read the story but believe your own mind, the lies you've been told that has biased your mind. Ojukwu came back to Nigeria and has he or did he condemn his friend Aluko, no? But you over-fed babies think you know better? He said clearly that he told Ojukwu that he was corresponding with Gowon, Ojukwu still kept him in confidence, were you there or knew better than Ojukwu? Gowon reportedly called Ojukwu on his private numbers which only a few people knew including Aluko, Ojukwu did not break a nerve because he was aware what his friend was going to do. When Ojukwu went to Aburi, he went prepared (on the advice of people) but Aluko did not divulge the preparedness of Ojukwu to Gowon as he went virtually to have a comrade like chat and just get issues resolved, I don't see anyone complaining that why didn't Aluko inform Gowon so he goes prepared too? So you guys see you are just very full of hate and bigotry. Finally, NONE of you was even born then but act like you were witnesses to what happened! Someone told awful stories of how people were murdered in Asaba which was really sad. However, did you read the theatre that was set by the coup of January 1966 when soldiers from the SE (mainly) murdered their superiors from the other regions? All the cases were bad but how Ifeajunna killed Maimalari is the height of treachery for goodness sake! Maimalari only called out to Ifeajuna because he trusted him and he was his boss (read the account if you have not). Maimalari knew their was already trouble and already left and was walking toward Dodan Barracks. He saw Ifeajunna's car and called him (he could have hidden or taken the first shot) but what happened? Ifeajunna shot him to death in the company of his fellow Ibo soldier. If that is not treachery and a broken bond of trust, what is it? The same pattern was repeated that saw all the "fathers" of other people killed and yours preserved, what would you expect from people who you decided to kill all their "fathers" in a day or two?? |
You these small over-fed babies! The only thing on your mind is tribalism and bigotry - haba! Well, I hope you all read "My Views On Awo, Zik And Obasanjo —Ojukwu" in <https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-816532.0.html> ? Too bad you're loaded down with Goebbel's grade propaganda and even Ojukwu knows a lot better than you or were you alive then? It has been established that virtually NO Nairalander saw the war but because of your evil bigotry, you can't stop spouting off lies. I guess you read more about history instead of running around like headless over-fed turkeys! ![]() |
TRUTHTELA:Tell me why Nzeogwu is your hero? He was one of the major actors of the January 1966 coup that plunged Nigeria into BIG problems that has created BIGGER problems. But tell me, maybe I can see something else. About Brigadier Ogundipe, did you read the account of what transpired after Maj. Gen Ironsi had been murdered? Did you read how Ironsi was gravely insensitive and indecisive in so many situations up until he was killed? So much so that a very very junior RSM went-up to him and asked for a commanding officer because they would have non other than a northerner? So, after Ironsi was killed and the junior officers insisted they would have non other than a northerner, what was he supposed to do? Completely out-gunned and maybe out of some respect they asked him to resign, what could he do? Now, Lt. Col. Ojukwu was far away from the center of the action then and should have read the sign of those times very well than to expect Brig. Ogundipe to do anything! |
Why for goodness sake!!? Before people are calling God, God, God. . .is there no way to improve security in this God-forsaken country that people can just go and steal babies in broad daylight?? This is not an ordinary steal and it is the poweful people who are supposed to control important institutions in Nigeria that are stealing these babies! No police! No security! Orientation of the people is poor and base! How can anything improve!? |
My advise to the young Nigerians (which I am one) is to learn from the mistakes of the older generation. This is another angle to an incredible story and it makes no sense when NLanders who NEVER saw or knew anything except that which they were told to be fighting, cursing and hating other tribes! I got love for you ALL! ![]() |
