Dede1:Well, if you think I am, I can't help that but for once think: Ojukwu NEVER challenged this position. Okey Ndibe who I have met and was at that town meeting has not challenged the comments. Ojukwu said expressly: I do not, did not and have NEVER blamed Awolowo for anything. Now, I ask: should I believe Lt. Col. Odumegwu-Ojukwu (and the leader of Biafra) or you a little baby who had no clue what happened, except stories you conjecture in your mind? |
macjive01:Mac, you have never read any history at all but parrot what you have been lied to about. Did you ever watch "Auschwitz" and see how even the people who operated the concentration camps, killings, cremation thought the Nazis were right? There was never a written agreement or bond with Ojukwu on which Awolowo changed his mind and Ojukwu never blamed Awolowo but your parents only loaded you down and full with Goebbels type propaganda. Now, I will give you examples of treachery: "At a point on the golf course adjacent a petrol station, Brig. Maimalari was walking towards Dodan Barracks when he saw Major Ifeajuna's car. The brigadier recognized Ifeajuna [his Chief staff officer and special protege'] and shouted and beckoned him to stop. Ifeajuna stopped the car and, accompanied by another officer (most likely Ibo), went towards Brigadier Maimalari and killed him". That is betrayal and treachery! Maimalari called out to him for goodness sake for a number of reasons most importantly TRUST otherwise he would have hid himself! Without any conscience, Ifeajuna went to kill Lieutenant-Colonel Largema before killing PM Balewa. This is REALLY very bad. So, do you agree this is treachery, betrayal and evil? So much, his Ibo co-soldier did not say, hey, Brig. Maimalari could have killed you because he saw you first. What do you say? Source: The Brothers War - John De St. Jorre. |
Dede1:Dede, you are the TRIBAL SUPREMACIST and FUNDAMENTALIST here. Do you know that even Ojukwu said he does and did not blame Awolowo for whatever happened in the war? But you a little kid knows more than Ojukwu? Either you are born silly or grew silly because it is very annoying that me I can see through your stupidity! Respect your age and stop for goodness sake! The person you are defending says I don't blame the person you think or been lied to as guilty or do you know more than Ojukwu now? |
macjive01:You are another phony and funny guy! What is the purpose of this lie? You were a baby when the stories were written but you've lived with Goebbels all your life - you are unable to reason. A certain Omonnakoda gave evidence that Ojukwu did what you are peddling about Awolowo but you are still in pains and unable to respond but you like to attack another person unjustly? Well, some people laid their bed that same way in January 1966 and you know the story afterwards. |
Nchara:You are a very funny man indeed. Will you kill the same way Ifeajuna killed Maimalari and Largema (both his superiors?). When Maimalari with a lot of TRUST called out to Ifeajuna when he had a chance to kill him first or hide? He did this with the assistance and help of another Ibo soldier, be rational. |
Nchara:No, in your dreams. Tell us what happened since you were there at the war or at the interview. Okey Ndibe was there and a lot of others who are still alive but your tribalistic mind cannot let you reason rationally? |
I think some of our fellow Nigerians (from the SE in this particular case) are just UNGRACIOUS and UNGRACEFUL. You cannot change history, no matter how hard you try. You were not even born then to see firsthand what happened. I have a lot of Igbo friends here and we have very nice debates and none of them expresses these kind of sentiments. NL has 819,363 members and what percentage of them (Igbos) engage in these kinds of character assassination and tribalism? Very small but it seems like a lot of you believe only yourself although you never witnessed anything. I think it is better to learn the skills of diplomacy, sound judgment, negotiation with a HUGE dose of graciousness to move forward in your personal lifes and as a people. |
Dede1:Dede1. . .those comments were made in 1983 not in private but in public. Even with journalists like Okey Ndibe present, I think Sonala Olumehnse, perhaps among others! That is over 28 years ago, when you were still unborn or a little baby! The man was alive for another 4 years or so and you neither knew about this comments or challenged him. But now, after you've been loaded down with Goebbels type propaganda and hot emotion, you label his comments to justify your emotions? So, a little kid like you knows more than people who were actually there and could not challenge what he said? Ojukwu did not. No one has challenged it, yet the chief resident NL tribalist Dede1 who pulls out winning arguments from his ass is right? |
dayokanu:Ifeajuna also killed Brigadier Maimalari. However, what I find VERY aweful and treacherous is the scenario of the killing: "At a point on the golf course adjacent a petrol station, Brig. As you lay your bed you lie on it and no wonder the counter-coup which was to come full circle in the July 1966 was recorded to have started within one and a half hour of firing the first shots! Jons-a-thon is in charge of government. What is he doing about it? |
I just found that OKEY NDIBE was actually at the town hall meeting where he gave these answers. . .interesting! |
Really? I liked their service back when I was in Naija then. |
I think the foundation of the gloating city is still being laid by Jonsathon, in his dreams! The cities will be completed in his second term! |
very interesting information! so all lies about the sw all punctured in one go? well, i think the power of they type of propaganda that Goebbels fed to Germans is what will carry the day here: little kids that were neither witness or got a clue will argue with voice and video evidence to protect their ethnic and bigoted views! |
Hope this thread comes alive again with people who have objective references to support their positions? |
I am happy at the positive comments and eulogies from most of the politicians that actually knew Ojukwu. None of them was perfect but what I like most is the grace and class they exhibit when they talk about him. I hope young Nigerians can place aside their tribal sentiments, grow some grace and class - it will serve everyone well! |
Katsumoto. . .you must be 100 years old (though I know you are not)! All these 1 day old babies debating sentimentally are really funny! None of them (most probably) was born then but will in fact take a position like they were the major actors. Katsumoto should be Visiting Professor of History in all Nigeria's universities if he has the time. None of the people debating have presented any convincing argument backed by dates, times and references yet their opinion is king and must be accepted? Well, I will be looking at the drilling all you little babies will get today and the only thing I would have liked to do is in fact scan his book references and paste them here. ![]() |
Funny thing is most people castigating Gowon were not even born then. In fact, you can't look him in the eye and tell him your BS. Heck, you can't even get close to him to spout your hate but hiding away behind your computer and in your mother's basement, parent's house or underground in a shack, you like to run your mouth? |
Well, maybe you guys should read his will before deciding if he wanted to be buried in Nigeria, as Nigerian or not. It is very simple and he deserves whatever he wants in his will. |
Some of his comments were kinda funny! In any case, I am not a fan of OBJ, but he seems to have done better than most of the other "educated" people who became presidents! One thing for sure is he knows how and when to be diplomatic and when to be brutal. Another thing is that like someone said in one recent posts, Gbawe I think, all these former rulers and politicians in Nigeria know themselves and relate well behind the scenes. However, the citizen fodder catches fire anytime they sneeze and while everyone on NL is fighting, OBJ, IBB, Jonsathon, etc are having a drink on Nigerians! O |
Obviously he is being gracious, like a lot of people who were alive at that time and were actually embroiled in the conflict. However, the little kids born 41+ years after have are ungraceful and show no class in their comments! The man is passed on and just leave him alone! |
^ Okay no problem. |
I think it's a legitimate question to find out the point the thread is trying to make or how do you expect a healthy debate without having a point to debate on? |
So what is your point? Or, do you wat to re-enact the war? |
^^^ GEJ was criticized even by Edwin Clark for achieving nothing. It's here on NL only that he was more concerned that the ND have not gained from Jona's so called presidency! I wonder if you love outside of Nigeria because then you would easily know that people like Jona can never be close to being elected president talk less of being president. Be objective and get out of tribalism because you are one of the topmost bigots on NL. Every thought of yours is colored by tribe which can only destroy that country even more! |
Wish them success in their marriage. Hope the chick does not cheat on him in future! |
^^ I hope Naija does but going by what is seen on NL these days, its a big "HOPE". |
