Butterflyle0:
Fayose became the Governor of Ekiti state in 2014 while Baguda became Governor of Kebbi state in 2015, while Baguda took N4bn to BOI, got counter funding and got 78,000 people cultivating rice (employment), my own governor Fayose took N4.7b to build the first flyover in Ekiti state, while the farmers in Kebbi have sold their rice to Lagos state (LAKE RICE) and have moved on to increasing their farm size, my Governor decided to throw money at a project that won't provide a single sustainable job.

While the Kebbi state Governor saw the potentials in processing by partnering with WACOT to provide a N10 billion rice mill that have a production capacity of 100,000 tonnes annually; silos for storing 18,000 tonnes of paddy and a warehouse for storing additional 12,000 tonnes of paddy.

When operational, it is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for 3,500 people and its procurement will reach out to 50,000 farmers my own Governor Fayose has approved the construction of another governor's office, another high court, reconstruction of the road to
his village (even though its next to mine) for several billions of naira.

Kebbi state is not owing any salary and the state government didn't blame it on PMB whereas Ekiti is owing pensioners as much as 11months while civil servants have 7 months unpaid salaries.

The difference between these Governors is called good governance with the people at the centre of it. If you think Fayose is your best Governor because he gives people 1kg of rice plus N500, you need to have your head examined especially if you are from Ekiti state, for those of you that are not from Ekiti state and assume Fayose is the best governor because he insults PMB, you are part of the larger problem, please go to your state and compare your Governor with Kebbi state Governor, after that, come back and make your comment.

Remember, Fayose is also the one who once said he wanted to contest for Presidency. With what I just showed above, he cannot even contest and win against the kebbi state governor not to even mention PMB.

NOTE - Baguda inherited N83bn debt from the previous government, he didn't blame it on the past government.

Argue with your phone. ....drops pen.

autojosh:
On Thursday, March 29, 2018. President Muhammadu Buhari, together with the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, commissioned the newly built Ikeja Bus Terminal.

The impressive complex was built by the Lagos State Government.

The commissioning of the bus terminal was celebrated amid pomp and pageantry.

However, and contrary to popular understanding, the imposing Ikeja Bus Terminal, at the time of its commissioning, was yet to be fully completed.

Construction work, especially at the rear end of the complex, still needed to be carried out.

Construction work recently continued at the site.

The Ikeja Bus Terminal is one of our flagship transport infrastructure under the State Bus Reform Initiative.

The first phase of this programme will see 13 new Bus terminals introduced. They include major terminals at Oshodi, Yaba, Ojota, Agege and the already completed Tafawa Balewa Bus Terminal.

This will be followed by the introduction of 5,000 new buses into the Lagos economy in the next 3 years. 820 environmentally-friendly high capacity buses will be injected in the first phase of this reform by September 2018.

Also to be built in the Ambode-led government initiative are 300 New Bus Stops, 3 Bus Depots, and Intelligent Transport System which will aid Lagosians to plan their journeys on public transport system.

HeWrites:
A 10-year-old girl who was married by three different men has been rescued by a concerned citizen in Kenya.

The girl who is from Baringo county, Tirioko ward in Tiaty constituency, Kenya, was married off when she was eight years old. Because she could not conceive after marriage, she was beaten at her home and this caused her to flee.

She was later married off to another man who also maltreated her. According to reports, the girl suffers from a disease that made her stomach to swell, but the men who married the underage girl thought she was pregnant. It was also revealed that she was made to undergo Female Genital Mutilation, FGM, when she was much younger.

Judy Seguton, the good Samaritan who saved the girl, said she was married off to her first husband after the circumcision and she lived with him for three months before she fled due to the constant beatings she got because she could not conceive. Her parents married her off to the second man and she lived with him for three weeks before escaping again.

Her parents then beat her up for escaping from her second husband's house, then married her off to a third husband.

All the men who she was married off to were very old.

The girl is now receiving treatment after being rescued by Judy. The swelling in her stomach is also going down.

APC Blasts Gov. Umahi, Declares Him Enemy of Democracy for Banning It's Rally

APC Youths Renaissance has reacted angrily to the irresponsible action of the Ebony State Governor, Mr. Dave Umahi for banning APC rally slated for this Saturday in the state.

We wonder why a governor who took the oath of office to defend the constitution of Nigeria in Ebonyi State would be the very one violating the same law in which he is a custodian.

Hence, the irresponsible action of Mr. Umahi in banning the activities of APC members in the state is outrageous and unbecoming of a governor who truly understands the limits of his constitutional powers.

APC rally in Ebony State is not a privilege but a right enshrined in the constitution.

Governor Umahi has no power whatsoever to stop the APC rally in state under any guise.

If Gov. Umahi could exhibit crass ignorance on matters concerning the law of the nation, we wonder how he has being governing the state in the last three years?

How can a governor who cannot respect the simple freedom of association enshrined in the constitution continue to govern a state whose citizens are law abiding citizens?

We thought that as the Chief Executive of Ebonyi State, Governor Umahi should have acquainted himself with the basic knowledge of law and as a result ought to have known that it where his right and that of his corrupt party stops that another party's right and that of it's members starts.

For falling this simple test of leadership, we hereby pass a vote of no confidence on Gov. Umahi and ask him to resign from office with immediate effect.

Politics / Re: Buhari Replies PDP On Plans To Impeach Saraki While In London by cytell56: 11:10pm On Aug 02, 2018
Meekdon:
The Presidency, Thursday night denied allegation by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that President Muhammadu Buhari’s planned 10-days leave to London was a plot to impeach
the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

The presidency in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu in Abuja, said Buhari is a democrat that does not indulge in any unconstitutional and illegal act.
In the statement titled “Nigerians don’t believe PDP anymore” called on the opposition party to proffer solutions to issues in the country rather than ‘cry wolf’

The statement read: “Claims by the failing Peoples Democratic Party that President Muhammadu Buhari had taken a token a 10-day leave in order to leave the stage for illegal and unconstitutional actions by the administration are both ridiculous and a hollow narrative to garner cheap sympathy.

“That the President, himself a sworn democrat had handed power to his deputy without compulsion is itself exemplary and innovative, something that the PDP failed to produce in their sixteen years of monumental mismanagement and sadistic plunder.

“For the benefit of the doubters, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, the Vice President who acts in the absence of the President is a lawyer of the highest rank and a social rights crusader who had received local and international acclaim before he took the president office.
“It is inconceivable that this is the team to copy the bad manners cast in stone in the PDP.

“We welcome objective criticism and take them seriously and humbly, but Nigerians must by now be tired of a party, the stock in trade of which is to cry wolf where there is none, ostensibly to spread negativity and distract the President’s attention from the cleansing operations he has been mandated carry out.

“The President is carrying out difficult reforms for the future growth of the country, such as the implementation of the ease of doing business, the Treasury Single Account, TSA, the whistleblower process, and hundreds of others, including the massive investment in rail, roads and power.

“If such reforms had happened in 16 years of the PDP, it would have made things much better for the country. “Instead, they seem to be fixated with a desperate quest for power, nothing but power for its own sake because they have nothing to offer. They draw a sadistic pleasure when things appear to be going wrongly, yet they offer nothing by way of remedy or solutions.

“The whole country is fighting corruption and the ordinary citizen is happy about all that is happening. The economic parameters have changed for the better, a clear indication that the administration’s political and economic strategies are working but the opposition is not interested.

“If the PDP doesn’t have anything that would help our farmers, women, the common man and the youth, they should just keep quiet.

“In the end, one thing Nigerians should take away from the cacophonous falsehoods from the PDP and the tenants back in their tent is that they all fear one thing, that their old records will be reopened.”

About six Nigerian asylum-seekers, among them three children, have reportedly died in a blast in the far north of Cameroon, The UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR reports.

Six Nigerian asylum seekers die as Cameroon forcefully repatriates them lailasnews 2

The United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees has learnt that on 29th of July, 12 asylum-seekers were being forcibly returned to Banki, Nigeria, in a Cameroonian army truck which drove over an improvised explosive device that exploded.

Six Cameroonian soldiers and six other asylum-seekers were also injured in the incident, which took place in Homaka, Mayo Sava Division.

“This tragic incident is a disappointing testament of continuing forced returns (refoulement) of refugees and asylum-seekers from Cameroon, despite numerous appeals by UNHCR to the Government of Cameroon to respect its obligations,” said Valentin Tapsoba, Director of UNHCR’s Regional Bureau for Africa.

“The forced return of refugees and asylum-seekers is in violation of the principle of non-refoulement which constitutes the cornerstone of international refugee law to which the Cameroonian State is party.”

UNHCR noted that over 800 Nigerian refugees and asylum-seekers in Cameroon have been forcibly returned to Nigeria since the beginning of 2018.

It therefore called upon the government of Cameroon to refrain from carrying out further forced returns of Nigerian refugees and asylum-seekers.

It also reminded Cameroon of its obligations under international law relating to the protection of refugees and asylum-seekers and the commitments it made by signing the Tripartite Agreement for the voluntary repatriation of Nigerian refugees from Cameroon in March 2017.

UNHCR reiterated its appeal to authorities to provide Nigerian refugees with unhindered access to asylum and also expressed its readiness to support Cameroon to ensure that all individuals seeking safety have access to efficient screening, registration and documentation procedures.

Some 96,000 Nigerian refugees have sought safety in the Far North region of the country, with more than 8,000 new refugees registered since the beginning of 2018, UNCHR noted; stating that Cameroon currently hosts more than 367,000 refugees and asylum-seekers.

Ahmed Musa is set to leave England as he prepares for a moneyed move in the Middle East where he is expected to play for Al Nassr.

Super Eagles winger, Ahmed Musa, has left Leicester City’s camp in Austria, to seal a big money move to Saudi Arabia side, Al Nassr.

According to his representative, the Premier League side has accepted a fee of £14.8m with several add-ons, which will see the deal rise to as high as £25m.

“He will arrive Saudi Arabia tomorrow morning. A fee was agreed yesterday but he had to tidy some of his belongings before heading out to Saudi Arabia. The deal is too good to turn down,” his representative told Own Goal

“Al Nassr are getting him at his prime. He has regained his confidence at the World Cup with Nigeria and towards the end of last season he was one of the key men for CSKA Moscow during his loan spell,” he added.
Musa has already demanded for the number 7 jersey at the club and the deal will reportedly make him the highest-paid Nigerian footballer when it is wrapped up.

Politics / Re: Police Disrupt CAN's Anti-Herdsmen Protest In Adamawa (Photos) by cytell56: 10:46pm On Aug 01, 2018
24hoursreporter:
Armed policemen have clashed with protesters in Yola, capital of Adamawa State, leaving scores injured.

The violence erupted when policemen tried to prevent a peaceful procession organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) from reaching strategic parts of the city.

CAN said it organised the protest to register its displeasure with killer herdsmen who have attacked over 43 communities mainly inhabited by Christians in the state.

The peaceful procession turned violent when armed policemen pinned down the protesters at strategic spots, blocking them from reaching the Government House. To the protesters, the Police had taken sides by preventing them from reaching the point where they hoped to send their protest letter to President Mohammadu Buhari.

Adamawa CAN Chairman, Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza, lamented that the Police that ought to protect all and sundry without fear or favour, prevented CAN members from carrying on a peaceful demonstration to convey their displeasure with various massacres in 43 agrarian Christian communities in the state to the Presidency.

The Police had barred the Christians from going ahead with the procession.

The Police letter prohibiting the peaceful procession, which was made available to Sahara Reporters, reads in part: “Be informed that present precarious and perilous security situation nationwide and in the north-eastern part of the country in particular is not favourable for any religious procession.

“Moreover, information and intelligence at our disposal is not palatable; therefore your request is not approved.”

Irked by the news, the protesters defied the Police and marched towards the Government House via the Police Roundabout. The standoff turned violent when the police tear-gassed the protesters in a bid to stop them from advancing to the Government House.

At a point, the Police resorted to firing live bullets as the people remained defiant.

At the Government House, the protesters were met at the gate by the Deputy Governor, Martins Babale, who promised to convey their grievances to Governor Jibirilla Bindow for onward delivery to President Muhammadu Buhari.
