Good day nairalanders, so I plan on going to the University next year to study Economics but I wrote art subjects in waec..I wanted to study law/political science but I am switching to economics now.

The issue is I want to write GCE next year only writing economics as I feel it the only missing piece in my weac to study the course. Is it possible? Will I have to write commerce and all those commercial subjects?

Econs is a selective course.

Having Maths, English, Econs plus two good subjects like Agric, Biology, Commerce, Geography in one WAEC/NECO sitting, will be advantageous.

Combining subjects may not be good. They may end up pushing you to Sociology.

Be sure that your Maths is top top.

As you may know, most Nigerians were not seeing what government was seeing then. Subsidy costs, in 2011 were triple those in 2010. (Oshiomole, who as a governor had access to the official records on subsidy spending, was one of the few oppositon leaders to oppose subsidy retention and support its removal because he had information most did not). AM sure buhari and tinubu knew..but because they wanted to get into power, they played the game, and won.

Naturally, retaining subsidy forced us into serious fiscal problems, which buhari tried to hold at bay with borrowing and printing money, and misusing ways and means. By August 2022, the chickens had come home to roost.

Some like me had no access to privileged information, but we still knew it was the right thing to do.

Buhari and APC won. But Nigeria and Nigerians? Pure losers in all ramifications.

But Nigeria Police Academy is in Kano. They award degrees in Law, Science, Computer Science, Accounting, Management, etc.

It depends on your resources and support system. It's good to have a large piece of land where you can expand over time, instead of farming in different locations. Consider the safety of the locality too.

It's wise to begin with a few acres, if you are new to it, as a learning curve.
Is it full-time or part-time job? How far are you from the farm location? Anyone with experience to guide you?

My advice, visit an oil palm farm/coconut farmer and understudy them. Every business has some secretes. Learn about the potential pitfalls before you start.

Look around if you can get Super Gene breed. It's short, starts fruiting earlier and yield is high.

Even the regular Tenera is still good.

But if your land size is massive and you have the funding, you can try a couple of acres of coconut alongside oil palm.
