Under banker customer relationship banks are not liable for cash not accepted for deposits into customers account. Even if the cash has been counted but deposit slip not stamped and handed over, liability remains with the customer In the same vein, cash payments debited to the customers account during withdrawal but not yet handed over to the customers remain the liability of the bank during robbery incidence. Banking laws are based on legal cases and lord Denning has ruled on this on two cases |
With the volume of IGR Rivers state generates and the huge FAC allocations, I wonder why the governor saw a need to further impoverish the state and Nigeria by additional external debt. Haven't we as a nation learnt our lesson by our uncontrollable thirst for foreign debt? The events of the past decades clearly indicate we should have as low a debt as possible as a nation Clearly our politicians borrow because they stand to make so much money therefrom, but at the end leave their states and the nation (generations unborn) groaning under the mess/mass of debt they have accumulated. In some cases a chunk of our collective common wealth is spent servicing these avoidable debts. I make bold to say that Rivers state is quite capable of providing water for their people without the need for external borrowing. The trade off/opportunity cost is just not worth it. why borrow $200m (from which only about $50m-$80m) will actually be utilized to provide the service (we all know this to be true but pretend otherwise), and force future governments to service and pay down from the sweat of the masses, who benefited so little from the debt? Afterall with the FAC allocation to the state, Rivers could and should have done this long ago. It is time we stopped celebrating nonsense in this country and act justly for the interest of all, rather than stand on the alter of affiliations and allow untruth and deceit to reign |
tusmen: This thread is quite informative and I really must commend the thought behind this.If you go through the thread your question was variously discussed Good luck |
IYA NGBALI: how can you compare national issue with state issue?na wa for youWhat do you mean? Is corruption now localized? The money the Taraba governors sons stole is now a Taraba state affairs and has no interest to you? Why then was Diepreye Alamieyeseigha jailed? why is Ibori in prison?? stop choosing which to condemn. All corrupt practices are vile. But in this case, I have a problem with selective prosecution Punch is doing. It smacks of promoted reportage. |
While not holding court for Oduah, This story appears sensationally biased against the minister. I am yet to see Punch campaign against the Taraba governor's sons who have looted in excess of billions with their father. The Oduah story seems deliberately kept up in Punch news for some reasons not yet clear, while various other corrupt officials are given little or no coverage. If you must come to equity, do so with unbridled hands. Lets fight corruption in a way that is non selective. The way Punch is going about it, they are losing a just war |
Recently states in Nigeria have engaged in deporting "non indegines", sometimes referred to as "destitutes" to their various states of origin under the confusing slogan of "reuniting them with their families" I haven't quite followed up on this lately but have glossed over some of the headlines. However, I believe this is not only serious, but need thorough examination. I am of the opinion this can seriously threaten the federating union which claimed over a million lives in the past war. I find it hypocritical, that majority of these politicians doing this, have their kids in the US, Canada and other western countries. These kids are given automatic citizenship despite these politicians having little or no connection with these countries. These kids go on to become "undeportable" from these foreign countries simply on account of being born there! Yet these politicians rush home and deport their own kits and kins, on account of their being born/ and or their parents being born within their own country, but not from the politician's states It is the height of arrogance and belligerence, for a governor, drawing funds from the federation account (which is mostly funded mostly from collective wealth) to ask citizens of the same revenue producing states from which his state is funded, to leave. It is equally more bizarre that the federal government has not deemed it fit to instantly shut down the revenue being allocated to these sadist governors I fail to understand how the concept of indegines got into our constitution. In the US, which we copied heavily from, a person lays claim to his state of residence as his home state. That is why the Bush Family can rule Texas while another of their son is a governor in Florida. The Clintons cut their teeth in Arkansas, but represent New york. I simply do not understand why Nigerians are this wicked, especially to themselves. From all indication, this is a prelude to a bigger problem, possibly on the horizon |
bettymafy: The VO didn't ask if she will be giving birth in the US. He only asked if she will be seeking medicaid which she said no to. It's so not like she denied the pregnancy or the fact that she will be birthing there. I don't think she will be refused visa the next time she applies. Moreover, she was given a B1B2 visa and nt just B1.Most VOs are highly trained and can add one plus one faster than the speed of sound ![]() Since she said she was pregnant and was issued a short term visa, it is not rocket science to figure out that the VO was concerned about the prospect of her delivering in the US. The smart money must be on a difficult renewal for her if she uses this visa to deliver. I cannot say I am absolutely right on this but I strongly believe I am right Best |
After all being said, if the CBP officer should issue you a one month stay, it means they don't expect you to file for extension because the minimum is 45 days, to file for an extension and also if you are stamped that low number of days their is a big chance, that your card will be stamped with the annotation " 30days with no extension" . I hope I answered your question.[/quote] For a good number of women trying to give birth in the US, this has been a recurring problem. While most CBP officers do not send back most pregnant women seeking admission into the US, as the vast majority of them have the right visa(B2), most have been noted to issue shorter number of days for pregnant women with the no extension annotation. There are a number of ways to handle this. The best option is usually to leave within the permitted days. Second, most expectant mums do continue to stay until delivery thereby violating their visa condition or being out of status. A third, and hardly known option exist. Should you be pregnant and get issued with the short term permission to stay and annotated "no extention", your lawyers could be able to help you get your stay extended. I may not state the process here but do talk to your immigration lawyer. Most will be able to show you a way to remain in status and avoid voilating your visa condition while being able to complete your delivery |
I believe a 3month visa is routinely issued to first time travelers to the states, my first visa in 2005 was a three month visa, not until 2008 did I start getting 2 years. ******************************** Before last month, and starting sometime in 2009, the US consulate in Nigeria had an unstated policy of issuing 2 years full validity visas for B1/B2 applicants. From 2009 up until July this year, you will find that all successful visa applicants got 2 years visa The large volume of applicants were part of the reason advocated for this unstated policy as the consulate needed to decongest the number of applicants and interview wait time. Prior to 2009, VOs routinely issues shorter validity visas: 3 months, 6 months and 1yr. However the consulate seem to have reinstated the shorter term visas starting sometime or around July this year. The reason for this is unclear but u should note that a short term visa shows what it is: the VO is not entirely convinced on the applicant and wishes to see how the visa is used before a full validity visa is issued. So pls it is not all first timers that are issued shorter term visas. It is issued based on the VOs perception of the applicant. The VO feels the applicant qualified for the visa but is not convinced on their reason for travelling to the US. Most short term validity visa is single entry and almost always annotated. The annotation signifies that the CBP officer must ensure the holder adhers strictly to the reasonfor travelling as stated during the visa interview |
Whites: Babababy, I'm sorry but I have to say you got it wrong. I went to school in the US and lived there for quite a while, and I can tell you that the CBP cannot extend your wife's stay beyond the visa validity period. If you have a 2 year visa, they will decide your duration of stay for each visit- (which has to be within your visa's validity), but the same is not the case for a visa which is about to expire. No one will grant you entry just before your visa is about to expire- the visa is an indicator of your legal status in the US, and if they were to let you in before it expires then it would be tantamount to granting entry to an illegal immigrant, (as you will be out of status)- which will never happen. You need to check this before you travel, otherwise you'll end up disappointed. The US aside, I do not know of any country which will grant you entry at the expiry of your visa. Do your research. This is factually incorrect. Like Babababy said, a US visa entitles the holder(s) to travel to the US port of entry and seek for admission from a CBP officer. The date on the visa is irrelevant as long as the visa has NOT expired. The CBP officer is the only one with authority to issue how long you can stay in the US. Your visa expiry date is NOT taken into consideration when the CBP determines how long u can stay. Of course this is for B1/B2 visas Mostly many people are given 6 months to stay on any of their visits even if they have one day left for their visa to expire. This means that the date the CBP gives u to stay in the US supersedes ur visa validity period. In the past this was done using for I-94 for visa nationals This is different from European visas. The British visa validity is the last date a holder can stay in the Kingdom as is in most European visas. The US and Canada practises a different system |
Babababy: Hello everyone , been following the trend for a while and just decided to join today. Great contributions from everyone, am not sure even google could have done a more better job in letting people understand the process of having a baby in America. Well done guys. My wife is due in November and we plan on traveling next month. I have been traveling to the states for the past 5 years of my life on business while my wife has been to the uk but its her first time in the states. She declared her pregnancy at the embassy ,and she was asked if she would be seeking medical aid and she said no,as we intend to pay all our bills . I have a 2 year multiple entry and she and my little boy have a 3 month b1/b2. City of choice is New York because that's where we have family, as I will be leaving them after taking them their. As time goes by, I would be sharing all our experiences with you guys. New York is quite expensive, but we are trying to maximize our resources .This is a bit tricky. The fact they were given a non full validity visas (2 yrs multiple) means the VO had the pregnancy in mind when issuing the visa. His/Her intention was to prevent her giving birth in the US since she expressly said she wasn't going to do that. She may well go right ahead and deliver in the states, but this may mean she won't be getting a renewal in the foreseeable future. I have seen this scenario many times. When a shorter term validity visa is issued rather than a full term validity visa, this is a trap. It shows distrust by the VO on the applicant and they will lay ambush for them on their renewal It depends on how important the renewal or the US delivery is to you but I can tell you for free that if she delivers in the US on this visa, it will take a reasonable while before she gets a renewal Good luck |
bettymafy: Good to knowThis program is done by the state of chicago. You may need to google it to get more informatin. It does not apply outside of chicago |
sweetg: Kindly quote the website am, as I already told them all of these. I understand diff states have their laws. I get informations and research before doing thingsAccepting medicaid for ur child is in no way illegal, as long as ur child is American and you qualifies. Am yet to see this reflected on the parent's records. I am also yet to see a visa refusal on this ground, for those I know that used medicaid for their kids. Some states like chicago have moms and babies program, which allows both anericans and birth tourist to have kids at little or no fees, provided they apply for and qualify for the program. This too does not reflect on any body's record. At least not that I know of. Records are kept for debtors and these deliquent accounts are shared amongst govt agencies hence immigration can see them too. But these are for deliquent accounts. It is all well and good if you can pay for all cost. But if you have the right information and can legally reduce ur cost, go for it. Its like saying a student should be penalized cos he was able to get scholarship while his fellow students paid in full by themselves. The system works same way for tax evasion and tax avoidance. One is illegal, the other is legal. But both aims at paying less tax |
In this day and age, blood lineage means so little. Spooky stuff |
OBJ spotted this guy and together they started a revolution in the power sector that GEJ is attempting to strike down. I fear for the future of our children if we fail to grab this opportunity to reform our power sector |
This man needs to blow some of his money on a paternity test. I will wager a nickle someone else did the shooting for him! |
The way I detest this writer, I would gladly sponsor someone to take this writer out the same method used by the Allu people she so supports. Can someone post her contact details here please? |
Congrats to Ezeoba. A real gentleman. The sky is your beginning sir! |
Folishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him. Prov 22:15 |

Mark 8:36... For what shall it profit a man to gain the whole world but loses his soul? Ecclesiates 9:10...Whatsoever your hands findeth to do, do it with thy might, for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goesth |
auwal87: Both Pillars and Rangers will have the same points.Rangers would have actually won the league by a clear point above kano pillars without the points they were docked. Not goal difference. |
Dis Guy: Im guessing if this was a Dolphin, Rangers etc it would be fine by you,For the record, I am a warri wolves fan. This is not about any conspiracy, it is a show of shame from our footie administrators. It is only in naija that teams are docked points for games already won (just because the teams they played later had issues)! It is unthinkable and indefensible. I am shocked this is ok with some people. If those are the rules, then they belong to the bin. Where else in the world is this practised? Football leagues should not be decided on technicalities but on points won over 38 hard games. Nothing else is arguable because should Sunshine beat Kano pillars today (as is expected), history would record this as one tainted title |
This should be an easy victory for us. If we can't easily beat the likes of Liberia, we might as well not qualify to be trashed at the tournament |
This is a classic example of the annoying habits of Nigerians. "Only in Niaja" style!. I understand Kano pillars, Rangers and Lobi stars all have a shot at the title, with the final round of matches today. They are all on equal points. Rangers can win at home today and expect sunshine stars to defeat Kano pillars at Akure while Lobi also has a difficult away game. But no, in the Nigerian style, Lobi and Rangers had to lose 6 points to Kano Pillar's 3 and a league title of one year's team effort is awarded inside an oval office. Why must the result involving Ocean boys be cancelled? why not simply expel them?? If this title is copied to the EPL, Man U could have won the title last year if they conspired with Everton to arrange an Everton expulsion. Only in Naija! |
The Canadians has arrogated unto themselves ridiculous discretion of treating Nigerian visa applicants with severe inhuman disregard. Holding unto soneone'e travel document for 45 working days suggest the applicant does not have any major business to do. The embassy should know many business people need to travel regularly around the world for business. So withholding an applicant's travel documents is akin to denying him the opportunity to grow his business, thereby directly under developing the country. I also understand that in many cases, after the 45-60 days delay, the visa application is rejected, ostensibly for frivolous reasons like (the purpose of the proposed visit is not reliable). This was the case with an uncle who is a top employee in a bank in Nigeria and wanted to spend some time in Toronto before proceeding to New york. He already had a US B1/B2 visa valid for 2 yrs and had been to Canada before as well as having numerous European visas. His passport was held for 60 days and returned with the bland refusal of (the purpose of your visit is not reliable). It is time the government stand up to these foreign countries who think that because Nigeria is developing, they have the right to do whatever and nothing will happen. This is mentally dehumanizing the Nigerian pysch Enough of this nonsense already |
This topic is deceitful and obviously a poor analysis from a layman's point of view. The fact is that there are various dubious contractors in Nigeria. Most of the contracts awarded have not been executed satisfactorily. A DG in Budget planning office last week warned that there may not be any capital votes in next year's budget as there are so many on-going and uncompleted projects already awarded. Unless the OP is of the school that what matters most is simply to continue to award capital projects at the detriment of actual execution and monitoring, I cannot see how the OP has made any meaningful point. Fine, it is good for mass award of contracts. This can only impact on the lives of Nigerians if and only if, the overwhelming practice of seeing contract monies as a share of national cakes ends. I am all for prudence in spending, execution and monitoring of contracts already awarded, rather than throwing money around like the OBJ administration did with the IPP project of which 80% of the funds expended lined the pockets of few politicians like Abdulsalam Abubakar that got $12m for a contract he never did till date. Capital expenditures has become the cash cow for politicians in Nigeria. This is the root of all corrupt practices in our polity. It is also clear that any attempt to introduce prudence and accountability in it will be severely resisted by the status quo, who, like the OP, will do whatever it takes to whip up the sentiments of the already battered psych of the Nigerian people |
horny4u: Thank you so much....It more than helped.Justwise has already answered this. The rule is normally that if the parents of a child are unmarried, the father's name can only appear on the birth certificate if both appear at the registrars office. Otherwise the father's column will be left blank. You can then sue for paternity confirmation and the court will compel his name to be included as the father and he must pay child support (acquire parental responsibility). If the parents are married, either of the parent can register the child and include the parents name on the certificate without the present of the other and both acquires automatic parental responsibility. Once his name appears on the birth certificate and he is British already, your child is deemed to be born British (British by birth - since he was born in the UK) If he is born outside the UK he will be classed as British by descent. Good luck |
If the dad refuses to sign up, the child can only be British by an act of court compelling a DNA evidence to prove paternity. It is unlikely you will get a stay from the Home Office if he refuses to cooperate. If he does cooperate, you will likely get settlement under the right to family life, whether or not he marries you. Also under the Zambrano case, you are unlikely to be deported if you are the child's primary carer and the child gets British citizenship. Hope this helps |
nice jokes! A mathematician, a lawyer and an accountant went for an interview. First in was the mathematician Interviewer: what is 1 + 1? Mathematician: By arithmetic the answer is 2. By geometry it is greater than 2 Next the lawyer: Interviewer: What is 1+ 1 Lawyer: I can argue it is 2. I can also argue and prove it is 1! Finally the accountant, looking disheveled, staggered in. Interviewer: What is 1 + 1? Accountant: Looks furtively around, went to the door, peered out, closed it firmly, sat down, leaned towards the interviewer and whispered: What do you want it to be and I will work it out for you? Who do you think got the job |
She gotta be kidding me! |
