Business / Re: Nigeria’s Monthly Import Bill Drops From $665.4m To $160.4m by dancewith: 6:17pm On Dec 02, 2018
This is definitely fake news. What exactly have Nigeria stopped importing since 2015?

We still import everything. If this stats are accurate the simple explanation can only be that volume of economic activities has reduced hence traders import less due to poor sales. This isn't because we have started producing local substitutes.

Where are those local subsitities pls?

This is alarming. What they are saying in absolute terms is that the FG wants to borrow $2.8b, yes billions not millions, to finance the 2018 budget.

How many months do we have before the end of 2018?

What about the billions claimed to have been recovered form looters?

What about the trillions claimed to have been generated from customs?

What about the so called trillions said to have been saved from TSA?

We 're about to borrow trillions of naira in Nov to fund the 2018 budget and everyone is cool with it... There is a saying that people deserve the leaders they have

I rest my case

Foreign Affairs / Re: Democrats Just Won The House In A Sweeping Rebuke To Trump by dancewith: 8:14am On Nov 07, 2018
Clearly most do not understand what the US mid term elections mean when they claim the republicans had won the Senate. Yes they did but consider these factors

Only 33 seats of the Senate's 100 seats are up for the mid term elections . Meaning the republicans won 18 of those and the democrats 15. Also note that most of the 33 seats are in the republicans major strong holds

The entire 435 seats of The house are up for elections meaning the entire country voted for this and the democrats won convincingly by a majority of 24 seats.

This shows that if the entire Senate seats were up for elections there would be a strong likelihood that the democrats would have won that too

As for those saying trump is a good strategist or the best leader American ever had, it is well documented that this man is a demagogue, divisive and racist and everything real American abhors

HSBC (master money launderers) and UBS (Switzerland, Oga patapata of safe havens for looted funds e.g Abacha, babangida etc). Fuckd up banks that have absolutely no use to the common folks on the street.

Besides politicians and oil magnates that constantly seek easy ways to move stollen monies outside nigeria does anyone know of any hardworking Nigerian banking with HSBC or UBS? Buhari might have failed in very many ways but I am MOST happy with how he has made life difficult for the looting and thieving status quo!

PDP and his thieving elites is a NO-NO! Buhari is wayyyyyyyy better than this bastardss.

Sowore and/or Kingsley moghalu is the way to go!

You would find that these two perform none of the functions you mentioned. Rather they engage in correspondent banking relationships and services to other financial institutions in Nigeria. They were not licensed to accept deposits in Nigeria so how would they launder money here?

When would we start doing things properly in Nigeria? EFCC had four or more years to prepare their case. Why didn't they charge him to court if they found him wanting? This is the practice all over the world

You don't arrest and investigate. You conclude your investigation before making arrest. Four years is over sufficient for EFCC to have concluded whatever investigation they needed to do here. It is really time we got things right here. It could be anyone tomorrow

For those rejoicing over this, the cloak of vengeance meted to one is meted to all

If things go against ambode and this man wins he will have same problem when it gets to 2023. I won't be blaming tinubu for holding Lagos to ransom but the opposition even with the federal power that couldn't wrestle power away from him. He also wrestle power from some one ( came out of AD to form AC) and it is for sure he will lose that power one day but what are the opposition doing to make that day come early.

You forgot the power of rigging. That's what has kept his grip on Lagos since 1999

This lady is simply too harsh. How can you post the uber owners picture and claim he is the one that stole your laptop when you are in police investigating the driver who is not the uber owner

You claim the owner is as responsible as the driver. So if your staff committs a crime you as the business owner should be arrested? She is doing this because she is connected and feel she can. It's so common in Nigeria for the privileged to trample on others just because they can. God would judge all such acts

Education / Re: JAMB Generated N9 Billion And Remitted N7.8 Billion In Buhari's Administration by dancewith: 4:23pm On Jun 09, 2018
ihatesycophant:

Did you read the post very well or just take pleasure to defend the indefenceable. The news said, they generated 9B and remitted 7.8B, and not 8B as you stated. "Tirelessly, we will be telling this story continuously, in 40 years of its existence, JAMB remitted only N52 million, under President @MBuhari in one year it generated N9 billion and remitted N7.8 billion to the Federal Government". The unremitted amount are for administrative expenses. Now because of TSA, the overhead of personnel for JAMB are paid through CBN and there is no way their overhead could be up to 3B, because they have less staff strength all over the nation. So remitting that high amount is still a plus to them and should not be a condemnation.
Again, Jonathan never implemented TSA, he only conceived it. Stop lying.

Let us always paint the clear picture for the uninformed . They should clarify if the remittance is to Jamb's TSA account with CNN or to the government revenue account.

If it's to Jamb's TSA account this is still subject to Jamb's day to day expenses. They haven't said the account to which the remittance was sent to which is very important to determine if this money goes directly into our IGR for public funding or simply sitting in Jamb's account subject to future withdrawals by jamb
Education / Re: JAMB Generated N9 Billion And Remitted N7.8 Billion In Buhari's Administration by dancewith: 3:59pm On Jun 09, 2018
naijapips04:
This is one of tge marvels of the Treasury Single Account conceived and implementated by the Jonathan's government.

I need people to really understand this.
Before TSA, Jamb was not remitting to CBN directly rather they had dozen bank accounts in commercial banks.

They were remitting amd spending from thise bank account as budgeted. It's only when there's an excess inflow agaimst budgeted that the remit the balance to CBN.

In the era pf TSA, every penny Jamb receives passes through CBN first.

Its still from this reported N8 billion that Jamb is going to make thier expenses. At the end of the day, there might ne nothing left in the account.

Reporting this face value is just plain propaganda as that doesn't depict the full picture in any way.

This is the simple fact. Why people fail to note this is beyond me. Are Nigerians that easy to deceive? Shocking
Health / Re: My Challenges With Rhesus Factor In Pregnancy And How I Overcame It by dancewith: 7:46pm On Jun 01, 2018
This is an interesting piece and one we need to take away some salient facts

A woman that is Rhesus negative does not need the injection if her husband or whoever got her pregnant is Rhesus negative. Sensitization would not occur. The problem is whether the woman is sure of who got her pregnant

This story shows this woman was already sensitized before her marriage. She has some explanation to give her husband on what happened

Women need to know their Rhesus factor as even an abortion is enough to activate sentization . We are all aware how common our woman do abortion these days

Finally Rhesus combatibity should be a must for couples intending to marry. If the woman is Rhesus negative the man should be interested in her life history ....any abortion, miscarriage etc

For those asking what crime they committed, please note it that under most country's law, adultery is a criminal offense. And yes including under US law.

The fact is that often these acts are committed in secrets and with little or no hard evidence, they are harder to prosecute. Most prosecutors often don't like prosecuting these cases also

Equally Nigerian law enforcement can charge you under the most obvious offense of committing an act likely to cause the breach of the peace. So when you plan to commit adultery please remember this. It is irrelevant if the two are adults and consenting

Finally this is fake news

Travel / Re: Germany Set To Deport Over 30,000 Nigerians by dancewith: 7:14am On May 16, 2018
So essentially this government would allow Germany make the decision of whom should be deported unilaterally and only when the affected person arrives in Nigeria would the person be in a position to claim redress

How can a sane country pander to the wishes of a foreign country in this way by boycotting the deportation process of your consulate and every foreign mission in the deportation process of your nationals. How do you claim to trust the adjudication process of the foreign country not supervised by your embassy abroad.

And you even have the mouth to state that the new process would increase the affected people from 2000 to over 30000. We all knew this would be the case and a lot of these numbers would be people rounded up and hurriedly deported even for minor offenses while holding valid papers. Since you have shown little regard for your nationals do not expect foreign countries to do otherwise

Nonsense

Family / Re: My Husband Has A Different Surname To The One He Uses.. by dancewith: 7:50am On May 14, 2018
A lot of folks here have given good advise and valuable inputs. We can all speculate based on the limited information we can glean from this story. I believe these:

The surname difference has a lot to do with immigration. You mentioned he was arrested by UK Border Agency but they later admitted they got it wrong after realizing the name he came up with tallies with someone legally admitted and with a permission to stay in the UK. This is where the real reason for the difference in surname lies. This name may or may not be his but it is exigent you understand why he did this and so far it has worked for him

Regarding the indefinite leave to stay he is about filling, you must remember that whether or not he files for this, he is already legally permitted to stay in the UK. The indefinite permit only moves him closer to citizenship. If he doesn't get the permanent residency it is not like he would be kicked off the country. My point then is, why do you think this is what he has been waiting for to " start changing things" as you put it?

If he is a scammer as so many people here have suggested , I personally doubt you would be limited to these two minute complaints. Several more serious red flags would have abound

Also understand that African men don't fully disclose all their businesses and other dealings to their spouses. It is just what it is. Most don't do this for pecunial reasons but simply being What they are. Until they feel the need to do so, rightly or wrongly, they sometimes don't tell. Several wives in Nigeria have no clue their husbands own properties somewhere including bank accounts. These often create issues when the man happens to die inta state (that is to die without a will). Would you say these men were also scheming to scam their wives? It's just an African or Nigerian men way of doing things. Again rightly or wrongly.

A marriage of 8years is by no means a joke. The fact he rejected a wife arranged for him without even bothering to tell you shows the quality in him. You only found out yourself. A lot of Nigerians married to even Nigerians abroad still keep second wives at home even without the one he is living with abroad knowing. And these men sometimes still go on to live a full and normal live with both. These are stuff other cultures may conclude are scams. It may well be but every nationality has their peculiarities

Cultures are very confusing at times but I would advise you to listen more to a man's actions than mere words. In 8years you ought to know what and what your husband is capable of doing and things he won't do. If you don't know him well enough by this point then it's probable you may never know

A man can tell you all the rights stuffs. Shows all the right paperwork and not have any false/confusing past as this, but would leave you open mouthed after 2yrs. The key is knowing the character of your man not some piece of paperwork.

Sorry for the long writeup

Very insightful. My main frustration here is that in cases where we have dangerous demagogues, the dangers they portend is clear but they have a huge enough followership that cares less whatever they do.

A typical example is president Trump who said he can shoot someone on Third Avenue and not lose a single vote. He also famously said he loves grabbing women by their crotch. None of these affected his almost fanatic followers from loving him the more

We may be facing a similar and scaring situation here
