You guys are ignoring a vital stats. a good deal of those in the SS are Ibos. Consider Rivers and Delta states. Also they are in all states, just as the SW people. I think for anybody to win, they must have the SE votes.

I can't see Ribadu doing this, with virtually no chance in the SE,SS & a great part of the N.

He will even be more woeful than Atiku. This election seems a predetermined conclusion. It was a foolish move by Ribadu and I am sure deep down the souls of the ACN folks, they know this. He surely wants to be an 'also ran'

Hey People,

I have not been on here for a while, I have a quick question for the guru's in the house (especially funkybaby).
I have a cousin who's entitled to a certificate of abode as he's father was a naturalised British citizen at the time of his birth and he is just about to apply for it with his sisters. The problem here is that, he and one of his sisters are already married but with no kids. The Certificate of Abode form VAF7 I believe is for those entitled to it which would be himself and his sisters. So, I am wondering, Would either of their partners have to fill a VAF 7 with them to apply for a Certificate of Abode as well as the UKBA website doesn't shed more let on this?
As long as the man's children were born after his naturalization, they were born British and are entitled to a ROA. But have in mind that they can only apply for ROA if they don't already have British passports. To the best of my knowledge, you can not have both at the same time any longer. Their spouses are however not so lucky and would need to be sponsored to the UK first on spousal visas. There is a qualifying period before they become British

I can always get my British certificate from Malaysia or Singapore even at a lower cost because there are so many UK universities there .What will I be going to the UK to do? Everybody Uk,Uk!! University of Nottingham,University of Derby,University of Sunderland,Oxford Brooks etc all these schools are in Malaysia,Singapore and even S.Africa.You don't need to go to the Uk anymore for these certificates. For instance, accommodation in Malaysia is about $150 per month, tuition fee which people pay as high as 21,000 pounds per yr in the uk is only but 8,000-11,000 USD in Malaysia,Singapore or even S.Africa and at the end of the day you are issued the same certificate, and might even be more knowledgeable than someone who attended the main campus in the UK.

Also,i think its high time we started encouraging these universities to start opening up campuses in Nigeria, since our country is among the highest ''exporter'' of international students to the uk.Doing so,to my knowledge, will reduce cost both for the school, students and their parents, and maybe upon graduation they could go to the uk for their convocation ceremony.

Best post on the topic

This bad rush to the uk is becoming worrisome.

From personal experience your best option is to send an email to the embassy, give them a reason why you can't come for the visa now and request for a later date of abt 2 months, use the 2 months to build your account and go back afterwards. Job done no probs simples!
Best advice.

Never attempt to 'load' the account or it will result in another denial. Follow this advice and you will be fine

The reason people have lived for 12 years is because of retroviral drugs you slowpoke.

As regards the drugs, the new law Obama signed into law on the 30th of Oct banned all forms of immigration discrimination based on a person's HIV status. Before then, The US forbade a HIV positive person from entering the US. So right now you can pretty much show them the drugs without any problem see http://www.hrw.org/en/news/2009/10/30/us-obama-announces-end-hiv-travel-ban

Hello Nairalanders,

I hope some of u here can be of help to me by advising me on the right steps to take with my spouse application.

let me go straight to the point without boring u guys. my boo came to canada about a month ago on a visiting visa (6months)

we have decided to do a "mini marriage" here in canada so that i can sponsor him. i have gone through the immigration site and i

noticed that they have the INLAND AND OUTLAND APPLICATION FOR SPOUSE. i would like the inland application because he can apply

for a open work permit as well, but my fear is if the application is rejected there's no appeal for it and it takes longer!. on the other hand, I was wondering

if i could apply for the OUTLAND APPLICATION while he remains here with me in canada even though his visa will expire in 5months.

thank you as you contribute effectively.

Hello everyone, it is really good having a forum like this where peope help each other with the knowledge that they have. I just need some advice here please,

I got married in 2006 by a british citizen, applied for marrieage visa in 2008 and got it. When I got there we only stayed together for 6months since we had domestic violence issues.I moved out in 2009 apriland looked for a job and we didnt keep contact.December 2009 i travelled to france for xmas, when i was coming back i was stopped at heathrow term5 and asked numerous questions. They were left with my passport waiting to call my husband to clarify our marriage status. I had already applied to go to british army since october 2009 and finished my interviews and ADSC in april 2010. By this time they had found my hubby and he had said that he didnt want anything to do with me,so they cancelled my visa (that was to expire march 2011).I tried applying for visitors visa while there as i wait for allocation in the army but they refused and i was served with removal papers and given 7 days.I was out by the date they had asked me to leave but they paid for my flight back.

Now the British army sent me a letter with my starting date in May and so have to get a visitor's visa to go back and join. My question is the fact that they paid my fare back will this affect my application? Please advise
I think you are in a good position. It was not your fault the marriage didn't work. Since you are applying for a work permit, especially as it relates to the BAF, they are usually considered under a different set of immigration law. e.g. if you had a child while in the BAF, the child is British even if you don't have ILR, which is a must for those not in the military before their children can be born British. Such exception abound for those in the armed forces and you have a fair chance of getting the visa irrespective of the previous issues

But you must detail the incident in a letter supporting your application

Good luck

The way to look at this is simple.

Your French passport will get you a visiting visa to ANY country in the world with few problems or delays.

A Nigerian passport will cause great difficulty getting visas and will cause you many problems, questions and delays when entering countries.

Just be sure ALL your paperwork is legal & you should have no problems.

I have a 2 yr Hi/H2 visa and proof of funds of about $10k. I am planning to have the baby in New York. Thanks
I do not understand most of your post. If you have an H1&H2 visa, then you are on work permit. why would you need proof of funds to cross the border when you are a legal immigrant?

Also why would you wish to have the baby in the US when you are supposed to be resident in the US anyway?

Or is it that you have a B1/B2 visa rather than a H1/H2 visa? If this is the case, then you can repost your question to get correct answer

Hello,
pls help, i would like to know the list of things needed for a french married to a nigerian to apply for a nigerian passport or a visa since i'm married to a nigerian and would loved to become a citizen of nigeria what should we do ? is it possible for a french citizen to have a residence carte or to own a citizenship of nigeria? or visa? Thanks.
I do not believe getting a visit visa will be difficult if you apply with your spouse. If you include the marriage certificate then I do not think the visa will be refused.

Ensure you apply with your spouse.

This type of visa is increasing very difficult to obtain from the US consulate. I do not want to alarm you but the embassy have discovered many applicants use this ruse to get to the US. A lot now depends on where you work, what your responsibilities are and your current status.

They would almost certainly not take the training into consideration unless it is being sponsored by your company and your company is reputable. Your travel history will also determine what action they will take.

The point is there is less likelihood of getting this type of visa compared to B2, your payments notwithstanding

Canadian dollar is slightly above the USD now but it has not been so for a long time. But don't cross your fingers yet, they will still exchange your greenbacks for a lot less than the actual rate. Right now one USD is about One Canadian (about 0.99 Canadian cent) but Canadian banks will probably give you $97 CAD for your 100USD. Thats the way they work.

Most shops will insist you change to CAD dollars. Any Canadian bank will do that for you as would the exchange shops

The CDHC usually runs all sorts of checks on Nigerian applicants and their documents. That is why it delays. When I was living in Canada and my parents needed to come over for a visit, it took a little over a month for the passports to be returned with a 2 months visa.

I hope this helps

I strongly suggest you tell the truth at all times. That way if you fail, your conscience will be clear and you would have the satisfaction you did your best.

If she is your God mother say so and confidently state you are going on vacation and wish to save money by staying in her house . You can also inform them you will stay there for a few days before heading to (mention two other tourist attractions) especially those not in the same state. That way you will show you have planned your journey and is a genuine tourist

Don't go with the assumption your age category is a disadvantage. You have a good job and they know it. Infact they will primarily want to know what you do and where you work, plus what you do there. These are routine questions but usually is what the visa officer relies on to make up his mind. The rest are incidental questions. My niece was 25 last year and she got 2yrs. She has been a banker for only a year at the time

It should happen as soon as possible. The system they have now is not sustainable in the long run. NOne the less their required population growth index requires that they grow faster at a rate they are underperforming at therefore this will not be an issue in the short run.
I agree this will end at some point. The UK ended theirs in 1983 while Ireland ended theirs in 2004. But I am unsure if a country like Canada, whose population is less than 33million despite having the largest landmass in the world, would wish to end theirs in the near future.

I believe the US may end the diversity visa ahead of those born on their soil. The concept of Jus soli is so important that even in the UK, for those born there, though not given automatic citizenship, almost always go on to get it. It is the same with France and Spain.

It would be interesting to see what happens here this year.
TravelUs Attempts To End Birthright Citizenship by dancewith(op): 12:23pm On Jan 01, 2011
The United States of America is attempting to amend their constitution to exclude birthright citizenship to children of Illegal immigrants born in the United States.

Next week, at least five states plan to begin an unusual coordinated effort to cancel automatic United States citizenship for children born in this country to illegal immigrant parents. Birthright citizenship, legally known as Jus Soli, is popular in the American continent, with countries like Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, St Kitts and Nevis, Barbados, Turks & Caicos, US, Cayman Island etc practicing it.

The Republican dominated houses have made this a priority in the new year but it remains to be seen if they will succeed as the repeal will require 2/3 majority approval from all the states and must be signed by a Democratic president who may likely veto it.

Birthright citizenship was enacted in the 14th amendment to secure the right of minorities (mostly slaves) at the time who were denied citizenship despite being born in the US.

You may recall that many Nigerians and Mexicans have been using the birthright citizenship to good effect by slipping into the states when pregnant to have their babies.

TravelRe: Are We Going To Pay For Another Visa Fee?. . . Pls Help by dancewith: 7:20am On Dec 29, 2010
Vicjustice:
To start with, know that some cases are straight refusal or approval so, it may not be necessary for the embassy to interview her in order to reach a decision. But there is still much time, we're still in December.
However, the onus is on you to ensure that you make visa application early enough to allow the embassy enough time to process your application. So, in the event of the embassy not being able to process your visa application due to busy schedule, the embassy would have no choice but to decide your application according to the circumstances in hand, and in most cases, the visas are refused for reason of change of circumstance or, unsuitable purpose due to change of circumstance.
And to answer your question, YES, you will have to pay another visa application fee if you decide to withdraw this current application and make subsequent one. But it is wiser to withdraw a visa application than to be refused a visa that you properly deserve.
The man is asking about US visa application and not UK or Irish visa application which is what you have answered. Poster, what Dantecmu told you is correct. Just reschedule the appointment date for another date. You only need to cancel the present appointment to do that. If you do not cancel before the appointment date, the money you paid is gone and you must pay again for a new appointment. You can cancel your appointment thrice only

segzeybaba, I dont have any immigration problem, I have just overstayed and i want to go back home with a TC, but not on my real name. can you advise on that please.
That in itself is an immigration problem. If you attempt to travel via Heathrow or Gatwick you are done for. They will pull you out, question you like you wont believe and you would not only be printed but must show how you entered the UK. If you fail to show that, you would be removed. Since you overstayed, if you eventually say the truth, which I am sure they will force you to say, you would still be removed

I don't see how you can pull this off unless you find a way of travelling from an airport that has less checks. At the moment I don't know of any. I have always used Heathrow or Gatwick and this is what I have seen.

what kind of evidence are you referring to
what if an applicant cant provide evidence of what they got up to wilst they were in america
and also for instance if the applicant said he would be staying miami but ended up going to another city would they be able to know this and query this
I went to california in 2005 from london, i applied for the visa based on staying with my uncle in miami but i stayed with friends in california i got the visa and i was admitted into los angeles, and returned to london, even though the border control at lax asked why i didnt just fly straight to miami, i said i wanted to see some friend and i was granted entry and stayed in la for 2 weeks and returned to london i didnt go to miami in the end.
however in the future if i want to go to america would i be queried as to why i went to la instead of miami its been 5 yrs already anyways
US visa renewal can be quite tricky. My brother got refused last week after using 2yrs. They wanted to know what he did in all his trips. They said he could not substantiate his claims and he got refused

Long ago I was refused a renewal on the basis that I stayed for 3 months on my first trip with the visa after having stated during the initial interview I would be staying for 2 weeks

The good news is that if you got refused you can very easily get a new one if you re apply. That was what happened to me and a host of others. Just have evidence like shopping receipts. You may be unlucky if they demand to see them

But be rest assured nobody would be asking about your jobs and bank statement. They are already aware you are not a possible illegal immigrant.

Best regards

I used to live in the U.K 3yrs +, and only returned to nigeria in march and been working with a multinational company since.
I have the following documents ready:
1. employment letter
2. introduction letter from my employer
3. payslips for more than 6 months
4. bank statement (savings and current) for more than 6 months with current bal of about 1 mill
5. Valid visa to tunisia
6. past and current certificates as a member of a top engineering institution in the US ( confirming attendance at annual conference as well as professional development courses)
7. Education certificates up to master's level in and outof the country

What other document do I need to present and what sort of questions should I prepare myself for please?

Thank you very much
All those count for very little. They probably wont even bother looking at those documents. In most cases they ask you questions on your previous trips to the US. Those are what matters and you need to be up to speed on what you did then and where you went. Take evidence with you like shopping receipts. I have seen renewal refusals based on lack of evidence on what they did in their previous US trips

Good luck
