IELTS gain ground pass TOEFL. Your option is vast with IELTS whilst with TOEFL, you only can join a few universities. It's the most preferred language proficiency cert through the whole of EUROPE, Australasia and Canada. A few american universities do accept it but most of them prefer TOEFL as it's governed by an American body. IELTS = British/Australia TOEFL=American.

APPLY for your visa right away. There is no other confirmation to be received by you. Just apply with all the docs

You'll have to get yourself acquainted with Fundamentals of Networking first. You'll find resources online and I recommend the Day 1-5 of Fundamentals of Networking available on YouTube.

Yes, the DHCP binding command does not work on PT but If I remember correctly show ip nat translations and dhcp conflict works. And yes, I'm CCNA certified. I'll be CCNP soon but I'm putting that project on hold for now.

I have gns3 but I've been having issues getting the needed ios images as they aren't open source which means I have to stick with PT for now. Issue with PT is some commands just don't seem to work and it can be a bit frustrating. Tried to use a router as a DHCP server recently, was able to put in the excluded addresses, pool, networks, etc only to find out that the sh IP DHCP bindings didn't come up with anything. The sh IP DHCP ? command didn't even list pool as an option. Ended up having to use a generic server to meet the objective in the end. Anyways, are you a certified CCNA/P. Hopefully I can get my MCSA and CCNA before the year runs out at this rate. This thread has been really educative.

Getting a good job with your certifications depends on you as a person. When I got my CCNP, I didn't get a job immediately. I had to learn how to properly package myself in my CV. That was when I got the job. Some people still don't know how to write good CVs. However, you don't just go online and apply for jobs like everyone else. I got my job by walking into the company and speaking with the HR personnel. They admired my courage because I told them that the company needs a young and skilled professional like me who has ideas to offer. I got called later, passed the interview and today I'm working with good pay. 100k to start, 120k after 6 months. Other benefits are available. It's just about being creative in your packaging and being confident, and that differs from person to person.

NEVER EVER focus on DUMPS. Focus on the studies. Dumping an exam isn't the same as passing it.
Study it first, understand it and everything else comes next but don't let dump be a focus. By the way, I like your spirit though. You've spent many hours labbing, Awesome. Have you broken anything on PT yet ? I'd advise you to try and do labbing on GNS3 too. You'll get the feel of a live gear.

Thanks for the reply man. A friend of mine told me something quite close to this. He said with a networking cert its better to walk into companies (ISPs especially) and apply rather than wait for the online adverts because 70% of networking jobs aren't advertised. I'm currently preparing to take the CCNA soon but I already have 8 months experience as an intern at an IT firm. I've read many materials and spent many hours labbing on PT so I feel good about my chances but then I can't seem to shake off this voice in my head that says I should enrol for CCNA at a training centre regardless, maybe just to see if I can learn something I don't already know. What would you advise? Should I just focus on dumps and my self study or join the class instead considering that would be another financial sacrifice? Thanks.

Oh nice. If you're from the SOUTH, the DOV takes at least a month or so but if you're from the North - it's just 3 days. I am not sure but that's just the way it is. Which UNI are you planning to enrol at ? Done with pre-enrolment ?

That's right. You'll always get it wrong at first... but when you practice and lab a lot more than you currently do, you'll be able to do it at the top of your head. So the tip is PRACTICE, LAB, REPEAT.
Remember, practice makes perfect.

This was a long time ago and if I remember correctly, it was almost free. I don't remember having to pay for it, sir.

Go to the Nigerian Embassy, take copies of your Current Nigerian DL with you.
Write a cover (application) letter for an International DL issued from the Office of the High Comm.
This can be verified as I believe is more genuine than the one from Nigeria.
I did this, but never went back for it because I lived far from the city the Nigerian Embassy was located at.

The second one - which I ended up doing, whey I no even get time collect sef but everyone advised me to do. Take your Nigerian Driving License, go to the Nigerian Embassy in your region, write up a cover letter for the DL and attach copies of your Naija DL. I'm not sure how many days it takes but this is how farther (I believe) you can get.
Keep in mind - this experience when I share na 2010 o. I no know how e be now o.

Go back and read my interview and read about my encounter with the fair ibo man. I gave same checklist to dolpaz and that is what he uploaded here (few pages back). if we all can just read this thread, all the many many grammar and English and needless repetition wouldn't arise.

There are thousands of free tutorials on YouTube but those ones wouldn't teach as those who do it for a living. You cant tell me those Instructors are as better as Cisco Certified and Recommended Instructors. And yes, those tutors did it because they are willing to help others. The other videos (INE and CBT) are copyrighted, you are not allowed to share them and even if you do, it's illegal.

I understand you're not financially buoyant but you're investing in your future and career. So do what you feel is right for you. You never know who is sniffing around. If someone gets a hold of your name and ID and report it, you would get a total life-ban and that's Cisco for you. It's serious.
The INE videos you're probably talking about must have been recorded by Brian and I know him, well not on a personal level but I know how hard it is to record long minutes of videos. How do you think this same individual would feel if he finds out the countless numbers of hours he spent recording those clips didn't really pay off because it was being distributed freely on a forum?

And to be honest, most people who study for CCNA wouldn't want to spend hundreds and thousands dollars for it, most especially someone from Nigeria when everything dey computer village. If you've got a good internet access, YouTube is even more than enough. There are hundreds of it, you go watch you go tire lol.

i quiet agree with you, but thats not always true all the time, because tutors have their different motives why they do video tutorial. In my quest to get a self based tutorial, i meet several Author whose aim was to teach aspirant through their free video tutorial { eg search EMRAN CCNA on youtube}. Please dont generalise because of a scenario.






Thats always true for most cases but not true for all case.






Secondly, i am not financially bouyant, just have to do with the Free Training Available(Authors motive(free video) to empower people like me), what i can afford is my time and brain, do you expect me to sit back due to my financial situation, i just have to do with what i find available.

There are so many out there. INE offers a great discount on their yearly training videos and CBT Nuggets does the same. These are quite pricy for an average individual though

I'm sorry but I will not entertain such ideas on this thread. This tutors worked hard to come up with this Videos. Believe me it's not easy and I don't think they'll be happy seeing this from people who are studying to certify themselves. Please refrain from such idea as it is piracy and just so you know, Cisco is really grumpy about such. It could land you a life-ban.

I'm not sure when I'll have time for this again since I have other courses I'm currently working on. I am sure members who are currently subscribed to this thread will be willing to help. And you can do some research yourself - I'm pretty sure you'll come with a whole lot of resources to do some self study online
