Well said, dammymayor.
dammymayor:
Got a friend in leipzig. Been there almost 2yrs . I have anoda in freiberg which is almost d most eastern town in germany. No complaints at all. The one in leipzig complains about job availability occasionally. But dats about d only complain he has. At d end of d day ots different strokes for different folks. Nobody here should have d impression that the east isn't hospitable. Yes we all agree dat d west and south has more students and may be more friendly but dat alone isnt a suitable job. My friend in leipzig had d opportunity to do his master thesis at the max Planck institute in leipzig. Imagine ig he turned down such an opportunity because of east no dey ffriendly. Nowhere friendly. If u want friendship stay in nigeria. My advice to anybody here is simple. If u pick a solid course in a solid school and it hapoens to be in d east better u close eye to all dis friendship thing and go. Nobe friendship u dey go find for germany.

Hey Shaggy,

I believe you'll want to search for schools with courses like Communication Systems and Networks etc. Information Tech is a very broad field and there is a chance you may not end up with anything on Voice if you narrow your search based on that.
That being said, why is IELTS a challenge ? Is it the time, or resources you do not have ? Because even though it doesn't help that much in your admission process, it does at the Embassy Interview. A visa officer wants to see something you've got that others don't and given that almost every other country out there wants to see a language proficiency exam, they wouldn't just nod their head to NO language proficiency exam. If you've got the time to sit for one, I'd strongly advise you to do so.

And your admission process/decision would be a lot more easier, since you're already in the field... one thing is opt in for some Vendor certs if you can. VoIP and stuff... CCVP etc. Believe me you, it can be a bit tough but it does pay off in the end as it quickly gets you a seat with a HR. (just a little something 2 years down the line).

All the best, bro.

Hello guys, I have been reading a lot on these page and. I wish to ask for some advice/guidance. This is my little story. I know winter application is off the balance but am bracing up for summer and the preparation has begun. I have a Cgpa of 3.12 studied computer sci /maths with over 4years working experience in telecoms as an engineer with major Telecom giants like glo, mtn to name a few. I wish to apply for M.sc in information/communication technology. My major challenge is the IELTS. Am opportune to get the letter of proficiency from Ministry off education in Lieu of IELTS. With the help of gurus here like eke40seven, danindia, cindino, styles, and others I may not remember, please can you help me with schools that can waive ielts in place of letter of proficiency. Also, what are my chances of getting admitted with my Cgpa.. I hope to read from you guys soonest!

I'll suggest you give them a minimum of 7 working days before contacting them about the situation. Understand that it's an Embassy and they have loads of applications and it takes them a while to assess each and everyone's documents. If it's not normal for such a case as yours then you can go ahead and mail them but for whatever it is, just give them a couple more days or so.

Please is it possible to get visa appointment booking reply after three working days, I sent mine since last week Friday but haven't gotten a reply, I'm tempted to write them again oh sad, but I hear say those people get as them be so I don't want to be penalized for re-sending huh !

The DOB is not something you can overlook. That's a huge 4 years difference. You'll have to go change. I don't anyone would believe this is an error. CLARK is also different from CLARKE. Go rectify these, bro.
casper9:
the d.o.b in my passport is 1993, but 1989 in waec certificate, my waec result surname written CLARK instead of CLARKE. Evry other thing is correct.

The cost of application is around 22-25k Nigerian currency. The tuition is around 120k naira. The registration cannot be done from Nigeria. One has to go on your behalf.. but before that I think you'll have to inbox me privately because I notice you stated in one of your posts that the date of birth on your passport doesn't match the dob on your WAEC. That's some stuff. You have to quickly amend that with some affidavit or something and also the missing name in your surname. Someone had the same issue here and had to go back home a month ago to fix it. The concerned person wasn't able to get his study papers because of the same.

thanks DanIndia. guess I'll have to go for mec, maths electronics and computer science.

DanIndia. thanks so much. the course "Bachelors of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering B.Tech (CSE)." do you know how much is the tuition fee? my budget is abt 150k in naira, can I get any associated course with relation to engineering with that amount?
Educational ServicesRe: Study In India (degree And Professional Courses) by DanIndia(op): 6:43am On May 13, 2015
Casper9, all degrees in India are fully taught in English. I don't your WAEC certificate year is a problem. You just need a good result to land admission into their Engineering Institutes.
And yes, I can recommend a good university.. the question is Engineering degree in India is not easy, for an average student it is tough... but if you're good in Maths and are willing to devote loads of time to studies then go for it. I'm not sure about the tuition but my guess is it should be around 300 - 400k yearly Nigerian currency... and I think admission is still going on.
casper9:
@DanIndia. I want to pursue an engineering undergraduate degree in india taught in english, my waec certificate is 2007, hope that won't b a problem? if no, then I'll be interested in mainly on mechanical or mechatronics, civil, electrical, computer. I just want to get a sound education in engineering, can you recommend a good university in that respect with any engineering course taught in english if any of the above is not available and the cost of tuition. I would also like to know the deadline dates for applications. need your reply asap. thanks so much.

Mr ogompaul, first class for international university nor easy. He just said that because he is a 1st class division degree holder and he is proud of it which I don't think is a bad idea afterall. Your comment with the "for your mind, abi?" is not ideal at all. Unless you've never for once wanted a first class degree.
ogompaul:
for ur mind, Abi? it's nt by grade, it's by grace. google.com nd daad.de are there for ur use after all, U've ist class from ELU, nd dat should make it EASIEST.
riosworos, good job on your degree in elect engg. And yes, your first class div. does make the admission process much easier. Many people will say it's grace and I am not against that (because it truly is) but believe it or not, the admission committee reads more than your motivation letter, they check through your transcripts, your yearly grades in each subjects, how long it took you to pass in a subject that's related to your course of choice (backlogs/carry-overs) and this further decreases the chance of rejection.

All the best.

Thank you, Man51ut. This makes it a lot easier smiley
I don't think this should be a problem at all. But if you're flying from Nigeria, be good at defending this since our Immigration officers tend to operate on any which way. Hehe
To be on a safer side - why don't you just call Qatar Airways and run this by them ? They should have information regarding your case.

Man51ut:
Sorry for the confusion.

1. I am going for a conference in Germany. Dates june 3-6. Company is paying for the ticket. Based on that, German embassy gave me a visa for 10 days but valid only from June 1.

2. Because company is paying for a ticket to Germany, i figured I would take my vacation now rather than having to pay for a ticket to wherever in Europe later in the year. My plan was to go to Switzerland and England before the conference. I would only have to pay maybe about 200-300 euros from my pocket. I have a valid UK visa for this venture.

3. The company is only paying for my transport and accomodation to Germany. I'm flying Qatar to Germany, then flying Lufthansa to London. I am doing this on May 21. I will have to get my luggage and check it in on Lufthansa so I am assuming that I will have to go through immigration for this and it will be a problem since my visa isn't valid till the 1st of June.

Summary: I have a German visa that is valid from June 1. I have travel plans to London on May 21 from Frankfurt. I'm flying Qatar airways to frankfurt and then I bought a cheap Lufthansa ticket to London so I will need to retrieve and check in my baggage in Frankfurt which means I will have to go through immigration. Should I get a transit visa? I have a valid UK visa.

Once again sorry for the confusion.
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by DanIndia(m):
I'm sorry I just don't get the question from your comment. It's all jam-packed. Can you please construct your question/sentences a little more precise? This makes it easier for people to answer.
Where is your first destination ? Where do you think you'd need a transit visa for ?
Just so you know, your Schengen visa doesn't admit you into the UK. You need a separate UK visa for that.

UPDATE*
-----------------------------------------
If, from your last sentence - "I'm flying Qatar to Frankfurt and Lufthansa to London so I will probably have to get my luggage which means going thru immigration. So do I need to get a transit visa?", you mean boarding a flight to Frankfurt on the 20th May and then the same day board another flight with a different airline to the UK (presuming you already have a UK visa) - this is quite tricky. I wouldn't advise anyone to do so as they may not even let you board.
Your first flight's airline company knows nothing (even if you show them) about your transit since it's not a direct/connecting flight to your destination. Hence, you may not be allowed to board an international flight with a transit visa. You'll need the country's visa to do that. But if you have a direct flight to the UK from your country of departure with a lay-over of maybe more than 4-8/16 (this varies from country to country) hours, then you'll need a transit visa.

HTH.
Man51ut:
Hi guys. Got my visa yesterday, thanks for the advice.

However, I think I might be a bit screwed. The conference I'm going for is from jun 3-6. My visa is from jun 1- 10. Meanwhile, I had already booked a ticket to Frankfurt from May 20. a company is buying my ticket to Frankfurt so I decided to take my vacation and just pay a bit of money to go to London from Frankfurt from May 20. I told the officer this and even showed her the reservation for the flight to London since I didn't have a hotel reservation until the 2nd.

I'm flying Qatar to Frankfurt and Lufthansa to London so I will probably have to get my luggage which means going thru immigration. So do I need to get a transit visa?

If you can cancel the appointment, please do. But the visa stamping shouldn't take long after the interview process... so if your Interview is on the 21st then you should have your passport in-hand before your date of departure.
Keep in mind, one thing an Embassy doesn't like is bug them with your travel ticket info. Asking them to speeden the process because you've booked your ticket - so please don't contact them asking them to act fast. In fact, the CHINA embassy cancels a Visa application immediately they receive such a complaint from an applicant.
Let's hear from those who've gone through the same process recently first before you decide whether or not to cancel your appointment.

All the best.
sovpounds:
Hello everyone, I just booked an appointment for May 21, 2015 for a short term visa at the German Embassy in Lagos. I am supposed to be in Germany for a business trip on June 1, 2015 so all things being equal I am supposed to fly on May 31, 2015. I have no idea how the procedure is on the day of interview. If I attend an interview on May 21 would a decision be made on the same day? If the decision is positive would I receive my travel documents to enable me to fly on May 31? Or should I cancel the appointment and choose an earlier date?

I tried looking for answers to these questions on the website of the German Embassy but I could not get answers. That is why I am asking the nairaland gurus here to help me with answers.

Thank you in anticipation of your help.

Firstly, it does sound illegal but that doesn't mean the poster himself was aware. He wasn't sure so he asked. I don't see any reason why it should be deleted. There is nothing wrong with it IMHO.

Secondly, this thread isn't only related to educational purposes in Germany. If you notice - the thread topic is General German Visa Enquiries, not German Study Visa Enquiries which means that anyone who is planning to visit Germany on any grounds can post in it (includes but not limited to work, study, tourist and even marriage visas).

Why do you think the thread is heading south, because you find a genuine post that isn't related to education on a travel thread ?
styles2009:
The MOD should please delete this post as it's related to illegal immigration, call me mr 2 know but those already in knows the consequences attached to all this kind of funny arrangement.
Secondly, this post isn't related to educational purpose in Germany,so it should get the boot in my humble opinion, slowly this thread is heading south and the MOD are not noticing this trend yet.

@ohaksid, try browse the link I included in my previous comment. I took out the information below, from it.
"Even if you just get a job offer for a part-time employment , a residence permit can be granted to you. It is important that the expected salary secures all means of subsistence. The decision depends entirely on the local immigration authority"

and

"The German residence permit or EU Blue Card allowing you to take up employment is issued for a limited period first of all. If you continue to be employed and wish to have your permit extended, you will be able to do this without any problem. As early as two years after receiving your German or EU Blue Card residence permit, you can apply for a permanent residence permit – that is, a residence permit without a time limit. Again, the condition is that you still have employment in Germany."

This could be any kind of job. As long as it is considered legal and skilled.
ohakskid:
@danindia,thank you but what kind of job must you have to convert the 18month to a work visa.
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by DanIndia(m): 5:17am On Apr 28, 2015
You never can tell what's waiting for you at the other side. This can be true and also could be a way of smuggling people into Germany. In these present days, such acts are still rampant. You reach there, they pick you up, take your passport and you work until you pay up for whatever expenses they've shouldered + some interest - I'm not saying this is your case, I'm just letting you know how this actually goes down.

If your friend says it's a no interview before visa acquisition and stuff, I'd totally disagree with him. As a first-timer to any EU country, you must go through an interview, in fact - it can be gruesome given that you're a Nigerian and are applying for a work permit as a skilled migrant *looking to not return*. But if he meant no interview in Germany for the extension, then I can so so agree.

And the term "BTA" is actually a scam. You are not required to tender any amount of money to prove your eligibility to travel outside your home country. You just need to prove that you have enough to get you to your destination/hotel and can present a card (which may or may not have any balance in it).

shevaamplified:
Plz I have am important question.. A friend of mine has a link DAT offers 3months Germany company work visa..he says the company will pick me up and Visa extension is immediately I resume work there.. He says its 400k without bta and flight.. He also said its a no interview stuff.. Plz how true is dis? I don't want to fall into scam.
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by DanIndia(m): 12:26am On Apr 28, 2015
I'll use the Idea of the experiences I have seen others go through, mostly work visa related.
If you manage to secure a better job before the RP expires, then have your new employer sponsor your work visa. And from your post, I am assuming you have a job that you consider not better - you can always convert the RP to a work visa with your current employer. One thing I know is I don't think you can renew the 18 months visa. It has to be converted into a work visa and if you can't manage to get one within that time period, I believe you'll have to exit the country, get a job and apply for re-entry with a (new) working visa application. I pray you get a better job before your extension expires.

All the very best, bro.

RP= Residential Permit
work visa=German residence permit or an EU Blue Card

Ah! I yaff read and readED. "Maka confuse ga dimma"
You just first break ground with this one.. haha
Bethiano:
Hello guys! Where do I start Now?

First, ogompaul, am in Enugu too, pm me make we sef relate, no be only Lagos people go dey meet each other!
E'speakelakwe ! Maka confuse ga dimma!

Its a good thing u went to Nipost Headquaters to send your mail, I think you are on point. No fear your mail don reach.

Secondly, I know I am the initiator and propagator of this Nipost registered mail craze, YES! Don't be surprised, na me start am and am glad I did ... Although people are too quick to condemn systems in Nigeria, they rush and say all manner of things about NIPOST forgetting that Nipost is giving them optimal service irrespective of the low price they charge and circumstance.

Yes ! I am a Nipost Ambassador, what more do u expect.

Have u ever wondered why DHL charge that much? Well just think about it, and be reasonable and objective about Nipost services.

Most people here take suggestions and apply it anyhow, and rush back to complain "its Not workin! ", pray for me" , blah blah blah....

Let me shock you, life is principle based, God only answers to you faith and not your rivers of tears, for without faith , its impossible to move God. Know that faith without works is dead, your work only answers to the principles you apply, hence you could labour and toil in vain.

Enough of the sermons, here is the crust of the matter, if you must use Nipost give ample time; say 10-24 days.

When sending your document, send through Nipost HQ in your state... If you send through a branch in your state give Up to 15-30 days. Cos your mail will move from d branch - state HQ - lagos office -destination.
The delay in transport is dependent on how active the branch or state HQ is, in terms of business. Enugu for example is very active, so it takes 2-5 working days for mails to leave Enugu to lagos HQ.

Now if you stay in lagos and need a quicky, follow Eke's advice of going to Nipost dispatch station @ the international Airport, according to Eke he claims it takes 6-8 working days for you mail to get to its destination.

Pls if you are not in Lagos, and need a quicky don't rush to a nipost office in you state, expecting a miracle , because Eke said this or that! This Eke no go die for una abeg....

Now! Bear in mind that the competitive advantage nipost has is because its cost effective , I mean its cheaper. If you have enough money, nothing stops you from using DHL. Some persons claim that some rich men are so humble that they decide to ride okada instead of jeeps that they can afford 20 times. Well,I no dey believe that kind rubbish, let that rich man wait until one "tipper bu aja" crush amm. No wealthy man is so humble to trek to his office 30km away, every day... After all those wey dey work for DHL suppose chop nahhhhh... No be bad tin if dem chop ur papa money.

On the other hand, DHL and the brothers, offer fast and smart service, although expensive.

Thirdly, obinwanne... Your matter be say u too dey do ...

Well u sef don come of age for this thread sha...
But , why didn't you certify your documents or open the blocked account as the case may be in Abuja german embassy. Is it that The abuja office dosent provide such service again? Cos, sometime in August I went there to open my blocked account. Well you can confirm by calling their office to be sure of the service they can offer you.
But let me state that, the abuja office, does not offer interview or visa issues for students, except its a new development.

The above goes to those who live in the north and around abuja, ...
I did my stuffs at the Abuja german Embassy last year. Afterwards I applied for visa appointment with the lagos consulate office. That's the procedure.
+ONLY lagos grants appointment for student visa for now oooooooo.

Make nobody misunderstand me oooo, before una go begin ask me questions wey I go just ignore as suggested my damindia....
Woow damindia, it have tey oooooo, where u go since.. Naughty boi, after you last episode, u just run....

fourthly, from my experience last year, this seal or no seal is new to me oooooo!
I certified all my documents in the court and it was accepted by all schools. Many thanks to University of freiburg and Duisburg-essen that offered me admission.

For those in Enugu, I just discovered another court, even a higher one, where u can certify your documents at a give away price.... Almost free self. If you are interested, just pm me, but I go like make we chilliout for NZA street after I give u the info. You can ask EKe my brand.

Fifthly (hope say dis one dey dictionary), Nevilebout, pls respect your oldage, and stop making ppl like obinwanne and co feel very stupid and lazy...

Sixthly, (hmmmm...) For the oldies, I mean ppl wey don dey reach or dey approach 30years old, Una don hear as e dey be nah... But I think the goal should be the in thing, not the hurdles.

Seventhly, ... Abeg it have do... My hand don dey pain me...

Yours sincerely

Nipost Ambassador

Reminder!
For tracking Nipost mail follow the AcTs of ogompaul.
Advice, make una go learn german oooooo.

I understand, for you, at this present stage, some questions might sound very funny. Surely, we've all had some very funny questions. But still, that doesn't mean it would be the same case to those who haven't even received an admission letter talk less of securing the visa. And one thing is - people do ask questions they already know answers to ....sometimes for clarity.
A suggestion, folks - If you find a question funny, and are not willing to answer it, skip through instead of passing rude comments, and let others who have the time and are willing to help, help. And yes, I've seen some very, very helpful people here.

So for DE, 24 hrs = 6 hrs ? For where be that one ?
The only reason I'd agree to that is if you are pursuing a doctorate degree, married & with kids and maintaining a job. grin

My prayer is that you should get a visa to study this year to study in Germany then you would find out that if not some or many people are waiting to be spoonfed, secondly foreign students here (Nigerians inclusive) don't have time to visit nairaland and spoonfeed anyone.
No worry you go understand say for DE 24hrs = 6hrs

These days all i do is visit the thread, read loads of post, laugh at times and ask, What is the use, if you can google a simple info? angry
