The core layer switches are screaming "Replace us with L3 switches" Is this something you implemented on a site ? I don't like to tell anyone what to do regarding their hierarchical design as this is something Cisco themselves defined as a logical model. You can replace whatever you want with what you want - as long as you can handle any issue come any may. That being said, I was hoping I'd see at least a router in your topology. Why!!!!?? Are you planning to implement VLANS and eradicate the need for Routers...? snipesdam: Sorry it took so long to reply back. Lemme hit the points.
1. I can only agree with you that there is an error in my design with regards to Distribution layer and Access Layer. Which can be taken care of bring in a few Multilayer switches.
2. My topology doesn't run on STP rather RSTP. Also since you haven't experimented on real life designs and its important for you to know that switch ports go bad bad after sometime. Having that in mind you can't predict which will go off first regardless how simple or complex your redundancy is. Imagine if one of your redundant port which has been forwarding goes down and your alternate port which has not been forwarding had earlier gone bad and you didn't notice because the root port has been doing its job well, then that switch cut off the grid talking from experience. Then comes why i choose to have my design that way. NOTE: When designing on simulators assume the worse that can happen in real life make provisions to contain it. Take a look a the spanning tree simulation below and tell me what you think about it.
3. My VOip design. Your were taking like am a leaner . Note that my switch ports are configured to carry both voice and data.
Also hope you weren't excepting me to drop my configs here.
Besides i would like to see some of your designs if possible.
Also One question. I would like to achieve a design using a FRAME-RELAY, where branches (ROUTERS) with dlci 102, 103, 104 and communicate with the CORE dlci 101 with being neighbours yet branches can receive updates of subnets. |

Awesome stuff. I'm pretty sure many other schools will adopt this system. Other EU nations are starting to take the same phase. Institutes that I've heard of (not german schoools) do not also require you mail them all your documents, just certified transcripts. lobito007: Someone please respond. |

hahaha nevilbot, you totally misunderstood his statement. He wasn't actually asking a question, he was just super excited about it - hence, the !. nevilbot: A school says that is wat dey want, u are coming here to ask us if its cool. No its not cool, infact mail all ur result from pry 1 till date to dem to make it cool.
The reason y dey av a web page is to tell u wat dey want and if dey tell u no paper copies urs is to obey to d letter to av a chance of being admitted. If dey tell u tear ur cert into 3 and send to us, dat is dia rule if u can't obey don't apply!! Shikena!!! |

You're right about Nigeria's official language being English.. but the truth is we are not Native English speakers. Our English speaking ability is not by birth. We learned it and operate officially with it but doesn't really and will not exempt us from proving it as a satisfactory leveled language for US. English is a universal language, even though other nationals (including us) murder the language with their/our local dialect and accent haha. Another reason why I believe they request the cert is not only to prove that we speak or write in English but to know if we can convey a complex situation in a very simple, easy to understand way.. which could only be done via tests. I doubt they will succumb to the 2nd question o. International passport and post are not best buddies. In fact, in most countries, it is illegal to have international passports couriered to/from an Embassy. And in the case of when an Embassy decides to courier your passport to you, it would be via trusted third parties - Fedex/VFS, and, they could get into a lot of trouble if they misplace your passport. A LOT OF TROUBLE.! crowns2: Okay please my question would be like a suggestion: 1) Nigeria's official language is English. Apart from that there is hardly any school in this country that does not use English as a medium of communication and teaching. In light of this, i would suggest that Unis in Germany be aware of this and thereby stop requesting for TOEFL and IELTS exams (which is expensive to write by the way) and add Nigeria into the list of countries exempted from this language requirement. If in doubt a Skype interview with the applicant should be okay. 2)I would also suggest that the Embassy should introduce the use of Postage Courier for the return of Intl passports by asking for the postage fees during visa interview so as minimize the hardship of travelling and lodging in hotels for those who leave far away from Lagos. if successful the travel insurance can be done in the respective state, then uploaded or mailed as proof to the embassy. Those are my questions what do you think? |

What are you talking about ? This isn't acting like you know everything. It is pretty obvious. CISCO knows there are simulators out there and try as much as they can to make sure you can't achieve the exam objective without a live gear. The only lab you can perform for CCNP SWITCH will be a basic one... . If you're aiming for CCNP, You can only ROUTE with simulators, you can't do SWITCH with it. You all give out options for passing exams but not skills for them to manage the certification. CCNP is not just the exam, it's about knowing how to tackle the labbings in a real world scenario. AGAIN, acquiring a cert is not encouraging people to pass it. And yes, I know that one way or the other with the GNS3 v1.0 and Qemu's,VirtualBox and Dynamips, you'll be able to SWITCH a bit and if you're from a LINUX background, you're in LUCK. The key concept that most people fail to realise is that GNS3 doesn’t emulate ANY routers and effectively* doesn’t emulate ANY switches. What GNS3 does is allow other emulators to connect multiple devices to each other. Getting a rack rental or getting live gears or even connecting with friends who would give you access to telnet into their lab wouldn't hurt. Encourage people to get live hands on experience. The Job market is tough these days. examdeal: That is your own opinion if you DONT know how to tweak your system , you can ask - don't act like you know everrything. Anyways good luck to you . |

True, that's so sad. But one thing you can actually use to your advantage is think forward. To stand out amongst potential employees or applicants, you've gotta brand yourself. Think of one way or the other that you can polish your personality, leadership..communication skills. Certifications do not get you the job, it only gets you to the door for an interview. Nature129: So sad and discouragung that after having a degree in I.T and a CCNA certification most companies are asking for 3 to 5 years experience before giving one a networking job |

NO, you CANNOT.! The lab exams are far more than what you can simulate. My advise is don't download one of those extra Idontknow dynamips and damage your system performance trying to solve a little nitbit of what's in the syllabus. Get a live gear, it will do you much good in the long run. Certificate and jobwise. examdeal: On the contrary - if you tweak your GNS3 very well you can practice almost all Labs in CCNP Route, Switch and Tshoot. You just need the right tweaking. |

Are you studying for CCNP ? If so, you'll need more than GNS3 as there are only a limited switching capability you can find on simulators. The Route exam labbing can be done on GNS3 but not the SWITCH and TSHOOT. sirrinky: Please give advice on the router and switches combination needed for ccnp.I mean live devices please |

Yes, you do. And we'll be taking it slow as the sessions may hold on for an hour or so. We'll be studying mostly configurations and protocols and not lay emphasis on theory parts such as OSI model and all. That, you can read on your own and perhaps, we could do some sessions for questionings and answers. Southboy: Do I need to read the ICND1 and 2 to prepare for the class? |

ExamDeal, I hope you know what you're doing on that web is 100% piracy and you could get into a lot of trouble hosting e-books that took writers months to put together, putting them up for free ? Cisco does not take anything related to releasing their questions or downloading their guides free, easy - I hope you know that. examdeal: You can download the ebook free from www.examdeal.net click on ebooks.
You can then download the new CCNA 200-120 official guide for Free. |
