Ejoor was not an Ibo man neither was he appointed to the position of Military Governor of the Midwest by Ironsi. It was Gowon that appointed Ejoor.

Ironsi appointed Ejoor as a staff officer in his military junta to keep him close at hand for monitoring and future assassination.

It's only natural for Ironsi to remove Ejoor from his command position fearing Ejoor knew about Ironsi having a hand in the coup and failed assassination on him.

In Nigeria today we have chess tournament in the streets and all sorts of chess geniuses and protege

But What really is the benefits of the game or what makes it special compared to our local ludo, ten-ten, suwé or drafts?

I understand that people tend to feel chess is some kind of brain work or brain boosting stuff.

But most chess world best players that we know never go on to become someone remarkable in their career fields. Instead, they will only go on to play the chess game.

So, what's so special about chess exactly because I'm lost here

As a chess player I agree chess is overhyped but so is football, heck football is a 1000 times more overhyped than chess.

Ludo is a game of chance it all depends on how the dice lands...Chess relies much less on luck (although there's luck involved, it usually comes from the mistakes of your opponent rather than pure chance)

Draft is too boring compared to chess... in chess each piece has a unique ability, A pawn can move one step at a time, a bishop can only move diagonally, a knight moves in an L shape, a Queen can move in all directions etc. This makes the game more interesting, more stimulating and more imaginative... (you can imagine yourself as a pawn in a bigger game of chess in life maybe your boss is the king)

I don't believe chess is a sign of intelligence, even Kasparov himself claimed Poker is a better sign of political intelligence than chess.

Kasparov was a legendary Russian chess player who tried to run in an election against Vladimir Putin, he had to flee from the country, his chess skills didn't make him a better politician because he played the wrong game, he played chess when he should have played poker.

But still, chess is an interesting game and to be a master in anything even a game is usually a sign of high intelligence and hours of practice, a good doctor will be a terrible lawyer but that doesn't contradict his intelligence.

They should be thanking Nigerians big time, we are doing them a big favour our Nigerian princes are making them sharper, more suspicious and more cunning.

Your example confirms the very thing I'm talking about, instead of simply collecting taxes and building the schools you guys all contributed money (which is almost the same thing) but the difference is that most of you won't live in that community forever, many of you will migrate, so when the school needs money to upgrade and maintain the school, hire more qualified staffs etc. There won't be anybody available to pay for it because you never had a stable tax system.

You would have to rely on another mass donation.
