Everything in life has advantages and disadvantages but if you mention of polygamy the disadvantages in it surpasses the advantages. I was born into polygamy, my mother was third wife to my father and was the one to begat him three sons, this sparked hatred in the extended family that even the family members of my step-mothers became jealous of my mother till date, and they pass it to my step-brothers and step-sisters to inherit against us.
If you want competition you can go into it...If it is peace of mind that you wanted, I should advise you marry only one wife which is enough for an average man. |

Dan Fodio's mission was never to reform Islam in the territories he seized but you theorised it to be so by the way of rewriting and misinterpreting Hausa history on self advantage. Islamic religion has thrived in the present Hausa land for centuries long before his forefathers dream of coming to this land. It is on record in 16th century, Sarkin Gobir Mamman Damka of present Birnin Konni now in Tahoua Niger hosted the family of pastoralist Musa Jakolo. He gave them a temporal settlement to reside but the contract didnt last long due to farmers and herders issues and he ousted and send them packing.
As of 14th century, Hausa states; Gobir, Katsina, Zazzau, Kano... have become center of studies and learning, according to history. Can you ask me who tutored the so called "Islamic reformer", it is the indigenous Hausas, and when he came up with the idea to preach in Birnin Alkalawa in 17th century, it is the Muslim Hausa kings who permitted him to. Though he was rejected permission in Alkalawa city after failing to answer questions meted on him by council of scholars in the palace. Sarkin Gobir Bawa Jangwarzo, wanting to fullfill his promise, handed his son Yunfa (who later become king) to pave way for Shehu Usman Danfodio to preach in Alkalawa villages as an alternative, unknown to him he would go about backbitting and speaking against them. The advice of Sultan should be act upon because the happenings in Northern Nigeria today is history repeating itself but this time in multitude.
To a lay historian and critical thinker, what Danfodio can be best called is a warrior not "Islamic reformer" or "Jihadist" as its often claimed, because he didnt fight for Islam but he used the faith of Hausas in Islam. |

This small brained boy stop mentioning Niger Republic in your tribalist posts, you have made it a habit of calling us all sort of names. Stop preaching hate and hatred among us for goodness sake. By the way what is Hausafulani tribe? Before you waka come, Hausas have interminglled with Kanuris, the Yorubas, the Tuaregs, e.t.c and there have never been such political ethnic group like Hausakanuri or Yorubahausa.. Are you afraid of calling yourselves Fulanis again, as proud as you are, that you must hide under the humble Hausas to cover up?
Let me disclose this to you, hope it will erase all the misconceptions you may have for Niger people. Here is a fact you must take in, in every tribe their are beautiful and their are ugly ones. Don't judge people by facial appearance, what you need to ask of a person first is their good virtues and honesty because beauty fades away while honesty goes on. |

Arrewa: 1: Migrant from Niger republic have Tarnished our image in the southern part of Nigeria. The nigereriens who mostly speak Hausa and generally Muslims migrate to the south in troops, doing menial jobs over there, selling sugar cane, doing shoe maker, begging, selling suya and cutting nails and other common jobs whit little pay. they don't care because their currency is very poor once they go back to Niger the money become something else. The southerners see all of them as Hausas from northern Nigeria because most of them speak Hausa and are generally Muslims and they find it difficult to deferenciate, most southerners don't even know that mejority of those Abokis they see in the west are foreigners, we also have many of them hustling here in northern Nigeria.
An average northner from Nigeria don't Travel to the east...except those in Army, Police, Navy, those doing lucrative business and those exporting agricultural products to the south.Mejority of those Abokis ain't from Nigeria ask them, many of them will tell you the truth
2.Insurgency : the southerners believe that all the Northern states has been ravaged by insurgency, once you mention north, they will shout Bokoharam many of them believe that northern Nigeria is a conquered Bokoharam territory. But in reality, the only state affected in northern state is borno, zamfara, yobe and Adamawa. Adamawa and yobe is almost free not critical like maiduguri... Kano, Gombe, kebbi, jigawa and bauchi is more peaceful and safer than most of the southern state
Poverty: The southerners believe that Northerners are extremely poor that majority of the Northerners are poor. In reality they judge this base on those Niger migrants they see in the south doing anything just to make as low as #500 per day An average Hausafulani is not that poor as they want you to believe, our people engage in business, agriculture they are are everywhere in government... We have igbos here in the north hustling along side our people
I have been to the 4 out of 5 state in East And I will tell you that the east is in no way better than the north both on economical and infrastructural development
Illiteracy: they believe that majority of us are illiterate which is partially true... There's mass illiteracy in the north...but the upcoming Generations of Northern Nigeria will shock the world... Come to kano and see how serious our people are taking education, in the north now Almajiri system is dying naturally death,so the north is gradually becoming stronger than ever before!! Lastly... An average northner don't care about one Nigeria, the only people interested in one Nigeria are politicians who are benefiting from the system... Even if Nigeria divide today! We have oil at Gongola commercial quantity and we still have untapped oil from lake basin, we have land for agriculture and industrialization
The misconception and stereotype on the north need to stop... We are not asking you to love us but please stop spreading lies and propaganda against north... Let me start with you misconception on Niger people by saying they tarnished your image. How and why? Remember before the coming colonial masters Niger and Northern Nigeria have shared ancestral bonds not only among the Hausas you're speaking of, but to the Kanuris, Zarmas and the Fulanis alike. Niger Hausas that I know don't speak bad of you their Nigerian brothers and are law abiders wherever they find themselves, unlike their counterpart who are fond of backbitting and doing the opposite. And trully you can hardly find them engage in social menace as foreigners they are. Then how do they tarnish your image? What research have you made to come up with this writeup of yours? Menial jobs that you make mention of, selling sugar cane, begging, selling suya and firewood breakers are jobs done mostly by Northern Nigerians; Sokoto, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kano... The only jobs that Nigerienes are known for in South-East are shoe maker, mat sellers, tigernut sellers... |

Mine wasn't connected with girls blabla as I went to only boys secondary school in faraway land to mine. The very day Mrs Onyekwuluje gifted me with two quality eleganza pens is a day I can never forget due to its impact in my studies that time, you know that spirit in gifting that can last eternal in ones memory.
Mrs Onyekwuluje came in front of the class and presented to us two Eleganza pens each, Ahmed Bello a Yoruba friend who was originally from Osun State and I an Hausa from Sokoto. In Igbo she said "Nkea bu maka igbanite unu ume maka mmmasi unu nwere n'imu asusu anyi", translating to mean that this is to encourage you for participating in learning our language. This encourages me to carry on my studies, then I was at the verge of dropping out. I would have been a junior secondary drop out before an angel came.

jamesharryson: The whites have damaged our religion!!! Before the coming of the whites to Nigeria, our religion was one of the best in the whole world. We pay tithes in our own little way. We give offerings and we sow seeds. We value all these things but not to the detriment of our well beings!!! We don't pack all our sweat to one man in the name of him mediating for us. Not that we don't give to the priests! But we give out of our lots and not all we had. But now, the whites have enslaved our mindsets and our thoughts. We now believe in Daddy GO's and Mummy intercessors. We now borrow to sow seeds. We now borrow to give tithes. We borrow to give offerings. Whites!!! You have really poisoned us.
Coming to beliefs, I am sure there are so many beliefs we had that always worked for us. All these had been killed and buried long ago by the so called whites!!! Our great oracles, stolen by the same whites! The ones they cannot steal, they trick us into selling to them! What do they need the oracles for, if I may ask? Many will tell the same lies the whites used to convince us into selling our Chi to them!! The lie is that they will preserve them in the museum. Hahahahaah!!! Which museum? And why packing our great oracles and sacred sculptures to your "holy and civilized" museums? And if those oracles are so useless as you termed it, why spending heavily to purchase them? Why, I still inquire? Or is it that you people love spending on frivolities? The whites have divided us along the religion line. We doubt the truths that have been handed down to us right from generations immemorial, only to accept some fictitious stories that only talks about a particular country. The Holy books given to us as a guide line is the history of one country, how they fought their enemies, how they won and even how they were defeated, including their mythical beliefs on the cause of their defeats. We queued into the lies and idolized them, throwing our histories and legendary stories from our ancestors into the trash cans. When these whites think that we are trying to doubt the authenticity of their lies, they came up with a rubbish story that a part of us came all the way from Israel and are residing here. We sheepishly believed them!!! And they kept sucking us dry. If we really belong to the part they claimed we came from, why didn't we see our name in that their history/holy book? why was it only the names of their towns were embedded their? The whites have really dealt with our mindsets and thoughts!!! We became happy, living as a borrowed life
Which will I count and leave others? Our culture became useless just because we came in contact with the whites!!! Our people no more value our wears, our foods, our behaviours and even our languages. Our kids no more speak our mother tongue just in a bid to make the whites happy. Indeed, we have been hypnotized by the whites and their charms caught us!!! We no more feel bad when committing these crimes against our motherland. We don't even value our marriage!! Our youths are not married until they do the "white" marriage. What Nonsense, even after fulfilling all our traditional rites. Indeed, we are ordinary clay in the hand of the whites (Our "sculptors" . They use us anyhow they want and dump us in the trash can when they think we are no more useful to them.
If I may remind you, These same white people we are worshiping, came firstly as traders, as our business partners and we traded by means of trade by barter. They gave us peanuts and packed our resources down to their own country to establish themselves. When they noticed that we are not getting more stupid, we no more allow them use our brains in the trade by barter system they introduced to us. we agitated over the small thing they give us in exchange of much things they take from us, so they went back to their country and returned, this time, no more as our business partners but as slave traders. They captured the strong among us and transport them to their countries to become their slaves. They even encouraged our fathers to sell the stubborn ones to them as slaves, which because of ordinary peanuts, they agreed to sell out their great minds. At the point where they knew we are becoming more intelligent, we no more buy the stories of their slave trading, in order to still remain relevant to us, the same traders, slave masters, turned and became the missionaries! I don't blame the whites for using us this much. But I blame us for having allowed ourselves for having acknowledged that we are being used this much May the Good God bless you for me |
