I appreciate ur analytic mind. However let's start with the first bolden: why can't God help the poor? In other words, why is there suffering? The answer to this poser lies in what happened at the beginning of life on earth. Genesis 1:31 says: "After that God saw everything he had made, and look! it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning a sixth day". Genesis 2:15-16 says: Jehovah God took the man and settled him in the garden of Eʹden to cultivate it and to take care of it. 16 Jehovah God also gave this command to the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction". This tells us that life on earth was cosy, no suffering or poverty, the bible says God's desire was that man was to have a life of satisfaction. So suffering was never part of God's plan for man. What then happened that suffering came into the world?
Genesis 2:17 says: "But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad, you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will certainly die". Now man wa given a law by God. So long as man continued to obey that law, he continued to accept God as his Sovereign, and as the one who had the right to rule over him by giving him laws. Why couldn't man make his laws, independent of God's control? Well the answer lies in the same reason u determine for ur child what is in his best interest because u love him and and wish him well. In fact, Isaiah 48:17(b) says: I, Jehovah, am your God,The One teaching you to benefit yourself,The One guiding you in the way you should walk". It means God's laws are in our best interests. Now based on wat we have seen so far, man knew wat he would do to remain cosy, just like ur child knows from wat u instruct him. Do u cause the consequences of ur child's disobedience? I think not. So wat happened na? This is it: in Genesis 3:4-5 says: At this the serpent said to the woman: “You certainly will not die. 5 For God knows that in the very day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and bad." what exactly was Satan saying to the woman? That she should disobey God's instructions. And if she did, she would be like God, knowing good and bad. What was it to "know good and bad" in this context? Certainly, it didn't mean recognising wrong from right. This is because man already knew wat he shouldn't do and wat he shld do. He even knew the consequences of doing wat was bad. In fact, if dis was wat the devil meant, then he would have been caught in his lie by the woman. Wat the devil was saying to Eve was dat "if she ate the fruit, she would become a god to herself, deciding for herself, wat was good and bad". That is she would be a ruler to herself and would no longer need God to give her laws. The devil made the fruit look like the only thing that stood between Eve and a godlike personality, where she exercised to decide for herself, wat was right and wrong. That was verse 6 tells us that the "woman saw that the fruit was pleasing to the eyes". Why was it so important that that fruit was the subject matter of the discussion/temptation? This is because the fruits of that tree represented the only law that God gave to man and as long as man stayed away from eating that fruit, he continued to accept God's standards of wat is right and wat is wrong, just as ur child accepts u a his guide, each time he obeys ur instructions. As soon as man chose to eat that fruit, he rejected God's standards of wat is right and wat is wrong. Consequently, he accepted the devil's own standards that man doesn't need God but can rule over himself with his own set of laws and standards. Just like a child decides to do his bidding and becomes independent of his father's control. Was the devil right? Wat was the consequence of man's action? Romans 5:12 answers that question: it says: "That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned—". So suffering came into the world as a result of man's action and the deceiver became the controller of world/man's life (compare 1 John 5:19). God never forced himself on man. Why would we be affected when we are not Adam? Well, take for example, u have two sons who u send abroad to get a better life: one stays obedient, but the other doesn't. If both sons have children in their respective circumstances, wouldn't their respective circumstances affect their kids? O yeah. This is the ultimate cause of world events of poverty. However, there are other reasons for this poverty. Let's talk about them shortly and u would see that they all come back to the beginning. Oh yes, even government policies today.

My dear and reasonable friend, ur reasoning is very apt. However, the concept of hell fire is alien to God. In fact, every teaching of hell is self-contradictory. God does not burn ppl with fire at all. In fact, it would first of all, contradict the freedom of man to choose between two but opposite forms of actions. Does the the EFCC now have the power to allocate lands/landed properties to the personalities of their choice? Last time I checked, the property was forfeited to the Federal government and it became the property of the Federal government and as such, under section 297 of the 1999 constitution (As Amended) 1(3) of the FCT Act, 1976, it is only the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or his Minister (FCT Minister) acting on his behalf that can allocate lands/landed properties in the FCT. The EFCC cannot give wat it doesn't have or the authority to give and that power of the president or the FCT minister cannot be delegated to the EFCC because EFCC has an establishment law that spells out the modalities of its activities and gifting landed properties cannot be one of such activities and if such is contained in the act, in the manner described in this news piece, it runs contrary to 1999 constitution and should be struck down. This act by the EFCC is illegal.

So ur definition of rape is subjective and hinged on a possibility of a court being liberal and not based on judicial precedence of statutory interpretation, right. In other words, ur definition is based on sentiment, right. Should I say "no wonder u couldn't rely on any authority"? Oh yes, I should; the temptation to say so is just too great not to fall to. It's no sarcasm tho. It's just that ur position on this is very welcome, howbeit far from the our lex. What u canvass is very similar to the definition of law by Oliver Wendell Holmes. However, the courts as u should know are no legislature and so are tied by the statutory provisions. There is this English authority that keeps nudging me. I read it in 300 level. The English court threw out the case of rape allegation on the basis that there was no intimidation as the intimidation in issue was economic in nature and not as envisaged by the criminal laws. I would go thru my home library, where a lot of my old books (including my university notes) are and yeah, I still keep em cos they represent my early days of learning the ropes.

U are wrong. Look at the section on rape and see what intimidation means. This one is economic in nature. In that th security of their voluntarily undertaken jobs (which they could also voluntarily resign from) was at risk. That's not the definition of intimidation in criminal law in this context.

Guys I need advice on what to do at this point in my life.

Got a job, in my state, place of work not far from parent's house (rented flat).

I've managed to save up to 400k so far, I've always longed to move away from my parent's house and get my own place, but they'd always kick against it, citing that there's no need for that since work is close to home. Left for them, they'd like me to stay till I plan for marriage whenever that will be; Lol, parents sha.

I'm already 28 years old, so I think it's time.

My colleagues already yab me anytime they get the opportunity, they love reminding me that I still dey chop mama thank you.

Problem is, the job security at my place of work is not that encouraging. I have older colleagues who have been in the company for 8 to 15 years, I've also, within my short period (less than a year now) seen about 5 workers sacked, it's a place where any thing can happen at any time.

So, should I invest this 400k in renting and furnishing an apartment with the constant uncertainty hovering over the job,and no side income yet, or should I continue staying with my parents while I invest the money in a side business which I don't know how it'll fare...

Now, frankly speaking, I'm not cut out for business, it's not my forte at all, so starting any at all comes with great risk but I still feel the need for another source of income.

On the flip side, Staying with my parents is not even as economical as most would think. Ever since I got the job, parents no dey gree say them get money again. All the bills are on me.

I'm just confused.

Salary fluctuates between 60 to 80k

If only u know what wonderful parents u have
