What's stunning is that she is the only black girl to graduate from her department and that she was 1 of 6 black girls to graduate from the college of Engineering. That must have been super impressive. Getting into Cornell University is no easy feat i can tell you that for sure making her achievement even more impressive. |

I love Yoruba people, they Gat big brains for education, not all though, some behave totally like Hausa people. But i must marry a yoruba woman from Ibadan. What's with the whole yoruba thing? Just thank God for the baby. Besides, the guy is American and the surgery was carried out in an American hospital with an American team. |

@WeNigerDelta @davidif @Edoblakky Wow! That was incredibly petty. Either way, I never questioned the existence of tolls in the U.S I just simply questioned seeing any toll gates on I-35, a interstate freeway I have used very often. I know this because I usually try my best to avoid turnpikes as much as I can. |

Politics › Re: Can The Jury System Ever Work In Nigeria? by davidif: 5:41am On Oct 26, 2016 |
onomeasike: Apparently, you don't know the reason why more developed democracy have the jury system was to prevent the kind of monumental corruption being perpetuated in Nigeria by a single set of cabal professionals called lawyers on bench and in the bar while the rest of the citizens who hold a greater stake in democracy look on like fools. Most of you don't know the extent the lawyers have hijacked a whole arm of democratic government because of your ignorance and docility. Since much of it escaped your attention,I will call your attention to the debate over the corrupt judges in the Nigerian Senate, all the senators(Akpabio et Al) who asked the Senate to condemn DSS were lawyers It's time for the citizens to play major role in the Judiciary arm of government through the jury system One thing you forgot to mention is that judges and law enforcement commissioners (and even ministers) at the local and state level are voted in by the people (not appointed by the governor) every four years or so and they can be recalled (removed) by the electoral process also. |

A woman once told me that she can't marry a guy she doesn't respect and that she would find it hard to respect a guy if she herself is the breadwinner of the family. PS the point of picture was to show what electriconic toll collection systems looks like. It's scans licence plates without having to slow flow of traffic. The bill is sent to home or deducted from debit or credit. Next tolls work same length doesn't matter. I-35? The same I-35 I used to travel from Houston up to Oklahoma steady??!? Politics › Re: Attah Ochinke Rejects Ayade's Appointment Over The Size Of His Government by davidif: 4:40am On Oct 26, 2016 |
Pavore9: Hmm...I am yet to wrap my head around the theory that a bloated government is a means of sustainable empowerment! Rather than empower the people to be economically engaged and pay tax to the State from their proceeds expanding the cost of running the government is what we are being forced to accept as a way out! Gbam! God bless you for that comment. Ronald Reagan once said that govt is not the solution but that govt itself was the problem. What he meant by that was that govt is a lot more effective when it is smaller because govts by nature are not usually efficient but wasteful. In the private sector when there is a recession or the economic forecast is bad, they start laying off and cutting of any waste so as to be able to weather the lean times, apparently in Naija it's the opposite. some state govts are still employing thereby increasing the size of govt and the main reason for this is allocation. When someone gives you money all the time that you didn't work hard for despite your incompetence and lack of accountability they are indirectly encouraging your bad behavior. This is why you have all the corruption in public office. govt officials can steal with impunity and the federal govt will still give them allocation next year of which a significant percentage will be embezzled. |

JingoOAU: Means there's still hope for this my generation...thought this generation is done for....
Was told that governor is a Professor for that matter....what a pathetic professor maintaining overbloated government Nigerians like mistaking intellectual dexterity for leadership. Those are two different things. The fact that you have a Ph.D does not mean that you have leadership and administrative skills. I am not saying that academics can't make great leaders, what I am just saying is that thee skills are not the same. Few people are born with administrative skills to run a large institution talk less of running an entire nation. In my opinion, Professors are good for advisory roles where they can provide expertise to decision and policy makers and not for executive positions. There are exceptions though. |
Politics › Re: Attah Ochinke Rejects Ayade's Appointment Over The Size Of His Government by davidif: 4:06am On Oct 26, 2016 |
kingphilip: Everybody just de reject political appointment up and down and the reason behind this is yet to be known
But to those who knows genuinely they can't handle the position, I'll really say kudos to them for staying off unlike those days and even now people accept appointment for political gratification as against merit Guy, that's how it is in some parts of the world where people turn down political office simply because they don't share the political ideology of the person trying to appoint them or they just don't think they are trustworthy and several other reasons. That's how things should be. |
