R u sayin b'cos Robert Green made a mistake in d world cup, dat means he lacks technique? so JUST a mistake can lead 1 to lack of technique? N R u sayin dat Enyeama lacks all what u listed above? Nna men, nothin wey person no go see for dis NL. Well, everybody is entitled to his or her opinion. what do u expect me to say? HUSH!!!

All i know is, @Ayowumie has said d main GOOD reason y he (Enyeama) has not yet been to big clubs in Europe!
WHEN DID I EVER SAY THAT ENYEAMA LACKS ALL THAT I LISTED ABOVE? GEEZ, LEARN HOW TO READ BEFORE YOU TALK, IF ANYTHING, HE IS A GREAT SHOT-STOPPER EVEN THOUGH THE GUY IS NOT COMPLETE. I JUST OUTLINED MOST IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTES THAT GREAT GOALKEEPER HAVE AND YOU STARTED MOUTHING OFF. WHY DON'T YOU YOURSELF KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO SAY. BOY WHY DO SOME PEOPLE ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY. AND YES, ROBERT GREEN SHOWED POOR TECHNIQUE IN THAT BLUNDER AGAINST THE USA.
SportsRe: Disappointed In Enyeama by davidif: 2:09am On Sep 07, 2010
omar22,
you are right the most important things you look for in a goal keepers are;

TALENT (INSTINCTS/ AGILITY/ ATHLETICISM)

TECHNIQUE (look at robert green's poor technique that caused USA to score at the world cup)

POSITIONAL AWARENESS (being in the right place at the right time and not getting cut out of position)

PRESENCE (THIS COULD INCLUDE HEIGHT AND OTHERS)

CONFIDENCE (INCLUDING COURAGE)

To highlight just a few points, courage could include the willingness to put yourself in harms way just to get the ball. Looking at the decline of Petr Cech over the years because of the skull fracture.
The great goalkeepers have this like Peter Schmichel, Oliver Kahn, Gigi Buffon and very few others.

WORD SON. If Igor Akinfeev is still in Russia and Hugo Lloris is still in the French league then who is Enyeama? and besides, how many goalkeepers can you have at a club? max 3, and you can only have one starting and you can't easily substitute them.

soloqy,
You hit the nail on the head maybe they didn't like his consistency.

Enyeama was voted Player of the Season in Israel in 2009. How many years does it take to access a player's club performance.
IN CASE YOU FORGOT, THE ISRAELI LEAGUE IS NOT EXACTLY THE BEST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD IF YOU HAVE NOT NOTICED YET.
SportsRe: Disappointed In Enyeama by davidif: 1:19am On Sep 06, 2010
HAS ANYBODY EVER ASKED THEMSELVES WHETHER THE GUY IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. THERE IS A POPULAR ADAGE IN FOOTBALL; YOU NEVER (EVER) SIGN A PLAYER BASED ON WORLD CUP PERFORMANCES BECAUSE ANYBODY CAN PEAK IN THE WORLD CUP OR HAVE A COUPLE OF GOOD GAMES. THE SECRET TO ASSESSING A PLAYER IS WATCHING HIM OVER THE LONG COURSE OF HIS CLUB GAMES BEFORE YOU ASSESS THE PLAYER. MAYBE THE SCOUTS HAVE SEEN SOMETHING THAT THEY DON'T LIKE IN THE GUY. DON'T LET WORLD CUP PERFORMANCES FOOL YOU PEOPLE, ANYBODY CAN SHINE IN THE WORLD CUP (EVER HEARD OF SALENKO, SCHILLACCI AND DIOUF?).

I don't blame the Nigerians on here supporting Shittu, they are ignorant they have no idea how the football business works, all they know how to do is shout "a goal" when someone scores, they don't understand the business aspect of it that's why they are talking the same way. THE REALLY FUNNY ONE'S ARE THE ONES THAT ARE INCLUDING SKIN COLOR INTO THE ARGUEMENT.

Babzilla:
Very true there pal! I mean even if Shittu is as dumb as the poster, wats he gonna tell FIFA? He'll be like

What I believe is anyone that represents this country especially in sports should be supported and not termed a "mediocre". The said Yobo made 250 appearances for Everton and lost his place because he was representing Nigeria. I have followed him since 1999 and I know he is a good player.
WOW!!! SO WE SHOULD EMBRACE MEDIOCRITY AS A COUNTRY ABI? shocked shocked shocked na wa o. What is wrong with calling a spade a spade? SELF CRITICISM IS VITAL FOR DEVELOPMENT OR ELSE YOU WOULD CONTINUE TO LIVE IN DENIAL.

What is mediocrity? Is Everton a better club than Fernabache? R Carlos, Okocha and one of our best defenders Uche Okechukwu played here plus champions league experience. I don't think its a crime if I am patriotic, I support any one who represents this country. If they play for money to secure the future that we as a nation can't guarantee then I don't have any problems with them it is the Nigerian system that should be blamed. Funny enough this list of future prospects do not list any player from Egypt the dominant champions of the past 10 years.
I disagree with the "Nigeria doesn't produce players anymore" tag I would rather suggest that the market is simply over saturated with so many Africans, which for me is a good thing. We simply need to change our system of development. Lets stop treating people who represent us like fools.
if you read this my earlier post, you would understand that Nigeria has no football talent anymore.

Why do we treat our own like slaves? So, the magazine prints top young prospects and there is no Nigerian. Do you know Micheal Owen was regarded as the future of English football, where is he today at 28, he didn't even make the 2010 English team and where was Drogba when he was 20, was he on any magazine cover.

My point is Nigerian football might have issues but don't back them up with some flimsy magazine hype, lets support our own.
ARE YOU BLIND TO REALITY? OR IS YOUR SENSE OF PATRIOTISM JUST EXTREMELY SKEWED? WHEN DOES "SUPPORTING OUR OWN" MEAN SUPPORTING MEDIOCRITY? MEDIOCRITY IS MEDIOCRITY WHETHER IT MASKS HIMSELF IN SKIN COLOR, ETHNICITY OR NATIONALITY. NIGERIA SIMPLY DOESN'T PRODUCE PLAYERS ANYMORE AND ITS "SUPPORT-OUR-OWN" MENTALITY THAT WOULD MAKE IT WORSE.

Nigerians and their 'HEAVY CASH FLOW'! Please tell me what use is a heavy cash flow when the quality of life is dire? The stress of sorting out and paying for every single basic amenity yourself from books for your child because there are no libraries available and making sure the generator is adequately filled with petrol because NEPA will inevitably take the light. . .The list is endless. Yes with a 'HEAVY CASH FLOW' one can buy a decent car but are there decent roads to drive on? And what if one doesn't feel like driving? Is there decent safe public transport to go on? And don't get me started on the amount of time it takes one to travel to work. . .getting up at 4 in the morning to beat the traffic and returning home at 11pm only to repeat the process again the next day. What quality of life is that with your 'HEAVY CASH FLOW?' Then after you live like that you eventually die and are buried without the 'HEAVY CASH FLOW' that you value above all things, BULLSHYT!

I would rather pay my monthly stipend, that is TAXES and enjoy the benefits of a decent stress free life. If my kids need books they can borrow them at the local libraries, if they want to do swim, play tennis or kick a football in a real park there are local amenities provided. They will not have the stress of thinking of if there will be light when they get home. They won't suffer the stress of traveling on potholed roads. If I don't feel like driving to another city because I have work to catch up on do I can easily to get a train equipped with wireless so I can connect and do my work, no stress. I easily go to the Supermarket at 1am in the morning if need be without checki g my back for armed robbers. Yes at the end of the month I may not have as much disposable income but I will have piece of mind and when I eventually die my life would not have been unnecessarily stressful had it been if I lived in Nigeria.

but maybe these asian students that come to study in the US are at the top of their class in their respective countries?
many international students in d US are at the top of their class back home. which is why US accept them on scholarship. otherwise, it's because they are very wealthy.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO, THAT IS WRONG. THAT'S ABSOLUTELY NOT WHAT I MEANT. What i meant is that the most unremarkable and average Asian Students come to grad school in the US and dominate. Students that can't get into , Kyoto university, IIT or BeiDA or worst of all are the middle-of-the-road students in the less prestigious schools come here and still dominate.

Obviously, oyinda, you are not a science grad student so you wouldn't know what i am talking about, because if you were in the sciences or engineering were there are lotss of Asians, you would know what i am talking about.

He simply went for the money because Betis was on a spending spree then They bought Denilson for a world record in the same period.
Correction: Denilson went to Betis after the 1998 world cup, that was two years after Finidi.
SportsRe: No Creative Players In West Africa? by davidif(op): 8:11pm On Aug 13, 2010
Now tell me why Finidi would leave Ajax that was top 3 in Europe for Real Madrid, Barcelona or those Italian clubs whom Ajax was beating regularly in Europe.

Tell me how RealMadrid, Barcelona Man Utd and co fared in Europe at Finidis peak in the mid 90's

Once more I tell you in the mid 90's Barcelona and Man Utd were not top clubs
Oh, then why did he go to a team like Real Betis that was waaaaaaaaaaay below those teams that he used to beat uhn? Also, why did his colleagues like Patrick Kluivert, Edgar Davids, Michael Reiziger, Winston Bogarde (AC Milan), Seedorf (Sampdoria), de Boer's (Barcelona), Kanu (Internazionale) all end up in this clubs then.
SportsRe: No Creative Players In West Africa? by davidif(op): 2:06am On Aug 13, 2010
dayokanu:
The point was Finidi was playing in Ajax which was stronger than any English team, Real Madrid, Barcelona at that point and he played for one of the best 3 teams in Europe of that era and was a regular for them.

Finidis Ajax at their peak whooped Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borrousia Dortmund and AC Milan effortlessly
Don't throw the word "effortlessly" around anyhow jare. Like i said, when i think of wingers of the 90's i think Roberto Donadoni, Ryan Giggs, Marc Overmars, Luis Figo this where the players who played for the big clubs around the world and became household names. I can't put your boy there because if he was so good, the Barca's, Madrid's, and the Italian Clubs would have been trying to break the bank for him but obviously he ended up in a mid table team like Sevilla.
SportsRe: No Creative Players In West Africa? by davidif(op): 3:42pm On Aug 12, 2010
dayokanu:
Ajax played 2 back to back Champions league finals in that time no English club could achieve that.

In the mid 90's Ajax, AC Milan and Juventus are the top clubs in Europe
Yeah, but that does not mean there league was better than the English league, it just meant that there team was simply better which means that the Dutch league was a very top heavy league, with one good team and everybody else average.
