@na2day
Look who is calling me mumu, you fake american wannabe, you better go get a tire and start rolling it down the street or start playing with some "blome blome". Let me guess you're one of those ultra spoilt kids who live in fortresses with fences higher than the wall of jericho and have five different cars to pick you from school each week, worst of all you probably are one of those kids who wear winter jackets and sweatshirts with hoodies just to pose like Nas, and your best friend is the TV. So you think everyone around is inferior (local) because they don't look or behave american. I am way too classy to even curse you back because you're just a baby, so you better stop your pride and boasting because one day its all gonna be over.

This what colonization has done to us. This happens especially in places where the Europeans English had a long and abiding presence, especially in the Niger Delta or places like Kenya, Uganda and those south african countries.

That was indeed one for the history books.
SportsRe: What's The Best Football Match U've Ever Watched? by davidif: 8:38am On Dec 14, 2007
Best games ever

EURO 2000 HOLLAND VS. CZECH REPUBLIC PART 1 (PART 2 WAS IN EURO 2004)
I lost track of hom many times the czech's hit the bar

NEWCASTLE VS. LIVERPOOL PART 2 (PART 1 WAS PREVIOUS SEASON) 1996/97 PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON
Asprilla, Shearer, David Ginola vs. Steve Mc Manaman, Robbie Fowler, Stan Collymore

UEFA CL FINAL 2000/2001 VALENCIA VS. BAYERN MUNICH: Ottmar Hitzfeld vs. Hector Raul Cuper (master tacticians)
Heavy weight battle. Never seen so much post to post action in my life especially when both teams got desperate in extra time and wanted to win now, instead of going to penalty shootout.

ATLANTA '96 NIGERIA VS. BRAZIL. need i say more?

2002 WORLD CUP SOUTH KOREA/JAPAN
REPUBLIC OF IRELAND VS. GERMANY 1ST ROUND
Scene: The republic of Ireland without their talismanic skipper and a very young team needed a draw in this game to have a chance of qualifying for the 2nd round.
Last gasp winner from Robbie Keane after several attempts on goal (they basically laid a siege on Oliver Kahn's goal post but no breakthrough). Injury time, ball headed down his path from Niall Quinn and he hit the shot at point blank range. Can somebody spell euphoriahuh Up till that point, i had never been happier in my life, i was rolling on the floor, screaming, jumping for joy, running all over the place absolutely ecstatic. I guess there is a little irishman in all of us grin grin grin

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND VS SPAIN 2ND ROUND
Greatest individual performance i've ever seen from a player (Damien Duff) who took over towards the end of regulation and persisted to torment the entire spanish team, how the spanish escaped is beyond me. Even after the loss to penalties, the boy deserved a 21 gun salute for that performance.

SOUTH KOREA VS. ITALY 2ND ROUND
Probably the greatest day of my life; watching the azzuris misery grin grin grin
God bless Ahn Jung Wang, Guus Hiddink and the entire country of south korea for this one, oh and panucci for causing the equalizer. ha ha ha

@migines
I cudnt possibly care less what is happen in sudan. If u don't mind look around nxt time(if there ever will)

How could you be so evilhuh you hear of more than 400,000 dying and you don't care, you are an evil evil person.
The bible says that on the day of judgement, we shall give account of every careless word that comes out of our mouth, you my friend would give account of what you said. remember the bible also says, "out of the abundance of the earth, the mouth speaketh", so you've just shown us what kind of person you are.

@biggerboy, and khams
I am amazed at your indifference and you wonder why our country is so pathetic. People are dying probably as we speak, instead of feeling sympathy, you are so extremely hard hearted; i am sure you feel that "bad things happen to people all the time" as if they are just animal who just got killed. That's why our useless joke of a country will remain that way for a looooooong time. Everybody over there is just so insensitive and hard hearted that's why you have politicians or rich folks in covoys of hummers and jaguars driving past people leaving in refuse or squalors lie Mushin or Oshodi and not feel anything at all talk less of a heart break, most oyinbos would see this and have an epiphany, some would weep uncontrollably, some would even go as far as committing suicide. On the other hand, the average Nigerian like you don't even feel anything towards your people, because you all dead emotionally. Some of you even smile or yell at people who beg them or people of lower class (eg gateman, mechanic). Don't worry ehn, keep up the good work, your country is sitting on a tinderbox which will soon explode and you refugee behinds would start begging USA for asylum.I don't even know how some of you even have the nerve to go to church. Y'all better ask God to break your hearts of stone so that you can have compassion for people like Jesus did.
PoliticsRe: Was Colonialism Good For Africa? by davidif: 7:09am On Dec 14, 2007
Another word for colonization is economic exploitation. Remember that Japan did not need any outside influence to colonize it, it simply mordernized itself aggressively by sending it best and brightest to study western ways and they came home and adopted it by copying the latest technology at the time, 70 years later, they had made the transition from a bunch of samurai warriors to one of the most formidable millitary machines in the world, infact, they even had the audacity to attack the US, where they got most of there technology from in the first place.
RomanceRe: Getting Dumped by davidif: 6:35am On Dec 14, 2007
@mamaput
you said your daughter is 17, no disrespect when i say this but what kind of mother are youhuh When i was 17 my biggest concern was passing WAEC, not getting dumped.
because you dey jand mean say una go dey live like westerners. Whatever happened to good old values of waiting till you're ready to get married before you start dating (after university)huh Abeg tell your daughter to go face her books so she can become a medical doctor or an aerospace engineer and can continue our tradition of excellence amongst our women.
By the way, answer me this question; what's the point of dating someone when you're not going to marry the person? The girl is obviously too young, and teenage boys would only want to sleep with her and probably impregnate her then she go become "baby mama". I am guessing the dumping is a blessing in disguise, so she could find something to do like playing (by the way, whatever happened to girlie games like "skipping" and "ten-ten"wink, or hanging out with her girlfriends and forget boys till like the next 5-6 years (trust me boys come and go all the time, there is nothing special about them to spoil her future)
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Police: Extremely Deadly by davidif(op): 6:09am On Dec 14, 2007
@kobojunkie
I mean we are speaking of the whole police force policing a nation of over 140 million people. An Estimate of about 1439 people killed a year is not outrageous.

My goodness are you jokinghuh I really can't believe you just said that.
How do you sleep at night, you need to ask God for forgiveness (he says we would give account of every careless word we uttered when we were on earth on the day of judgement).
One soul losing his life to police brutality is more than bad enough and should create an uproar within the justice system (remember Rodney King), infact, the senate subcomittee on law enforcement should conduct an enquiry into that, they should subpoena the attorney general and the Commissioner of Police and the office of legal counsel (if they have that over there) to testify why that one person got killed. But we are talking about not 1, 2, or even 3, but 1439 people!!!, you see how our people don't get the concept of fundamental human rights. A human being no matter his or her standing in society is very very special and should not in any circumstance have there life taken by any human being.

@denex
Yeah there are some mishaps like that, but even though they are a few and far between, there is still accountability. There are internal investigations and inquiry to every death caused by the police, in fact, the "po po" have video cameras in their cars to monitor them and see if they are guilty of wrongdoing (e.g whooping a suspect) in there actions. Any police convicted of wrongdoing is usually stripped of his badge or sent to jail. In naija, there is no such thing as that. Besides don't you think that worse happen in naija, its only that the police cover up the evidence (so much for protecting and serving the people) and the media hardly ever gets wind of it. So don't even begin to compare both countries. Which other country will 2 back to back Inspector generals of police embezzle all the police budgetary allocations?

Some of you might think i am just naive or that i dey look yanki eye look naija, but the truth of the matter is that today it might be a poor defenseless guy in the wrong place at the wrong time, but tomorrow it might be your loved ones or even you, then the police might just dump your body in a shallow grave to cover up evidence, then your parents would say "gbomo gbomo" don carry you do juju.

@akinalabi
The Brits don't do that. Even when their own
is the worst, they still support and lift them
sky high.

And see where that has gotten them, if there is one thing i like about my fellow nigerians its that there are not ethnocentric, they simply understand that they are just like everybody else; actors on the stage of humanity. Another thing admirable about our people is that we are self critical (wetin i bin dey think self) unlike the british who think they are better than everybody else, thank God there is no racism in naija, we welcome outsiders into our culture and try to make a good impression on them instead of segregating them or being xenophobic (have you ever seen a nigerian telling a foreigner to go back to his own country?) i know other people are but we should not lose our soul and humanity, or step down to that level.

Also, once again, Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather is pound for pound the greatest boxer alive and you could make an arguement for him being the greatest of all time even if he doesn't fight a suspect Miguel Cotto.

Next up, Bernard "the ex-convict" Hopkins knocks out to Joey Calzaghe back to England ha ha ha grin grin grin .

How could Shaq have better post moves than "The Dream" have any of you seen the "Dream Shake" y'all need to check it out on Youtube, it was absolutely (i mean absolutely) indefensible in other words, UNSTOPPABLE. Shaq had raw power; he is a freak of nature, his combination of size 7'2 over 300 pounds and athleticism made him dominant (look how he bullied Dikembe Mutombo in the Finals in 2000) grin grin grin . But Olajuwon for me was the more skillful centre and by far the most athletic and was overall the more complete centre.

@wadeftw
The dream had some good players like Sam Cassell, Big shot Bob, and the glide, but never had a D.Wade or Kobe but like you said Hakeem ate shaq for lunch, hakeem was never one of those players who flopped when he faced shaq, he stood up to him as a man.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs. India by davidif: 4:36am On Dec 14, 2007
If it happened then there has to be some video evidence of the match. Probably somewhere on Youtube or NTA sports archives.
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs. India by davidif: 4:33am On Dec 14, 2007
Aww come on it never happened, i know every Nigerian has heard of that wonderfully fabricated myth of us loosing to India 100-1, come on now let's be logical, there are 90 minutes in a soccer game, how then could they score a 100 goals in a match.
The funny thing about it is that, a friend of mine from Saudi Arabia said the same thing about his country playing with the Indians and loosing by that scoreline, and i was shocked i thought it was Nigeria, it was then we both realized how much of a myth it was.
On a more serious note, how did this rumor not only spread amongst not only Nigerians but to people in the Middle East or other parts of Africa, that propaganda machine is probably the most powerful in the world because till today it still has staying power, millions of Nigerians still believe it, some who vehemently defend it like it was fact, like my roomate in boarding school in naija. I think it was probably a movie like "Shaolin Soccer" grin grin grin . Who knows
SportsRe: Will The New England Patriots Remain Undefeated? by davidif: 4:23am On Dec 14, 2007
I think so, but it would be amazing if the Jets could beat them on Sunday, if mangini can figure out a good game plan, then probably, philly and the ravens gave us a fine blue print on how to beat this guys

Be physical with their wide recievers

Double team Randy Moss and put a safety on Wes Welker

Run the football very very well, Thomas Jones has to give the perfomance of his career ( he has been horrible this year)

Your quarterback has to play mistake free (see Kyle Boller and Jay Feeley)

but having said that its going to be a blowout because they simply don't have the same personnel as the ravens to create an upset and of course Bellichick hasn't and probably never will forgive Mangini. Only the Giants game have a shot at upsetting them at the Meadowlands.
Also, how ironic it would be if the Pats went undefeated breaking the Dolphins record while the Dolphins going winless to start a new record (ha ha Don Shula)
CultureRe: American Woman Married To Nigerian Man: Help! by davidif: 4:10am On Dec 14, 2007
First of all, naija men are very conservative, they wouldn't mind shopping with you, taking care of the kids, selecting drapery but also in our culture divorce is an absolute taboo, and what's worse than that is actually cheating in your relationship. There are several things a naija guy can forgive like insubordination but it takes Lots of prayers for them to forgive infidelity, in fact, in pre colonial times, before the introduction of western culture, sex before marriage and outside of marriage was punishable by death. That's one of the big reasons why i don't think i could ever date an American, some of whom might have had several other boyfriends (dragged her feet through the mud) before settling with you as prince charming. I don't think i could reconcile with my wife if she cheated (got her freak on) with me.

Nigerians also know how to keep malice. When they are angry with you they can decide not to talk to you for as long as they feel like ( i once lived with my sister and she pissed me off and i didn' t talk to her for almost 2 months and we still lived in the same house). So right now, what you need is serious prayer (divine intervention), ask God (i mean plead) to help your husband forgive you, ask God to melt his heart so that he can love you again, and also you have to apologize profusely, because most naija would not go out to sleep with other women, they would just hold it against you as leverage in an arguement or to gain an upperhand in the relationship. So beg him to forgive you for breaking his heart and that all the "getting your freak on" days are over and work out the relationship with him.

@Leilah
go to the immigration and report him. tell them you no longer live togehter as a family unit. i bet he will be back at your door then
Man, you're very wicked, how could you even think of something like that.

You say Nigerian men don't make babies all over the place. Good. But most AA men don't either.  I didn't know if you were implying this but I wanted to put it out there.

Are you freakin' kidding mehuh?? According to bureau of labour census, African Americans have a 70% (yep 70!!!) child out of wedlock rate hence the 80% dropout rate in the inner cities. So don't try being politically correct with me. In Nigeria, if you have a child out of wedlock most good families would disown and the child, because you bring shame to the family and yourself in yanki, you see Tisha, Zaquisha or chantelle (or whatever it is they call themselves this days) unmarried with kids at age 12, 14 , 18.  In most Nigerian families, dating is frowned upon until you are ready to get married and that's must be after you're done with college and can find a job. In America, you see kids  start dating before they reach puberty, instead of focusing on there academics, they are going out to hang out in the mall, playing football, basketball and other unnecessary distractions and you wonder why white people slammed us with "the bell curve".

CultureRe: How Is Christmas Celebrated In Nigeria? by davidif: 2:58am On Dec 14, 2007
Since Nigeria is probably the most religious nation in the world, we focus more on the religious aspect of christmas rather than the extremely materialistic (buying of gifts) in the US. We go to church on christmas eve and participate in Marathon prayers and on the morning of dec. 25th we go back to church. On boxing day, some people go picnicking (i have before) on new years eve, we spend a long time praying till the countdown in church and thaking God for what he did for us in the past year and thank him for what he is about to do in the next year. On new years day we come back to church and pray more and thank God for his goodness and mercies. Then in some churches people fast the first week of the year or even the first month of the year.

They say "give a man a fish and the next day he would come asking for more, but teach a man how to fish and he would bother you no more (or something along those lines)"
I don't think that welfare is the solution in Nigeria, i think its a great idea and would help but the govts have to create free education starting first with Primary schools in the rural areas and the govt should also subsidize agriculture (paying for the cost of production); providing free tractors, free fertilizers and seeds to every nigerian farmer.
Creating a great public transportation network to the cities, and good transportation network (e.g railway)
It should also connect the rural areas to electricity creating rooms for the establishment of light industries like textile industries, and food processing industries.
Also, there should be clean water for those in the rural areas. In order to depopulate this cities, you have to make life comfortable for people to want to live and invest in the rural areas.
Nigeria spends more on her defense budget than on Agriculture (what are we defendinghuh), its time for us to step up and stop blundering.
