I agree with you, the big 10 has been dominated by michigan and ohio state since i can remember, at least in our conference, it has always been cyclical, from Nebraska, Colorado, and KSU, to OU and Texas, now the KU's and the Missouri's are beginning to emerge and that's how it has been around the major conferences except the big 10.

By the way speaking of illinois, i believe the rose bowl should have invited Georgia instead of Illinois. The fighting illini are absolutely no match for USC, the trojans would absolutely crush them on new year's day, in fact its going to be be a blowout because USC still feels slighted at being left out of the national title game despite being the hottest team in the country following there last defeat to oregon. Either way, all we can do is wait and see. By the way, have a merry christmas and happy new year and keep warm.

As a Nigerian born and raised i can confidently tell you we don't celebrate kwanzaa. We celebrate christmas and since we are very deeply religious (either christian or muslim) we focus more on the religious part of christmas rather than the material (the giving of gifts), we even say merry christmas rather than the politically correct happy holidays. Also, if you ask most africans what kwanzaa is they would look at you strangely like what are you saying, most africans have never even heard of MLK jr talkless of kwanzaa. In Nigeria, even muslims also celebrate christmas.

ouch Real Madrid beat Barca at Barca to extend there lead at the top of the table to 7 points, what a shame. Real Madrid displayed some good defending and quick counter-attacking (did you see Julio Baptista's goal?) to win the game, they made sure that barca only had one CLEAR CUT chance at goal. Anyway, i wonder why they didn't put Thierry Henry in the game for Eto'o who fizzled out later on in the march, i guess its because Frank Rijkaard was probably scared of pissing Eto'o of like he did last year when Eto'o stormed out of the stadium because he was substituted.

Its more of a societal thing, therefore we need to start reeducating our kids so they don't become like us. 

Social studies classes should be teaching our kids conflict resolution starting in Primary school. They need to teach our kids to agree to disagree with people at times and that since somebody has a differing opinion from you doesn't mean they are "mumus"(stupid). They also need to teach them that every disagreement does not need lead to a shouting march or a belligerent response from them.

Another big problem in our society is that we are not thought how to handle pressure and how to control our emotions, just fly a nigerian plane and see how horrible the hostesses are; extremely mean. Just because you've had a bad day doesn't mean you should take it out on everybody else. This also extends all the way to the top especially in leadership were people are ridiculed for having a differing opinion or even shouted down or barked at (common shut up jo or commot here jare).

Leadership requires cooler heads hence the cliche "cooler heads will prevail"  and our kids should also be thought in school how to reach consensus; where a decision is made that satisfies everybody and not just the majority, instead of those with stronger personalities ("gra gra" people) or those with louder voices dominating everybody else. If our kids don't get this right Nigeria might never ever get better, because there is no electricity or you don't have a job or because "go-slow" dey does not mean you should relay your anger on everybody else.

On a side note on leadership, a leader must always be calm during crisis and not show emotion and should make tough decisions and take responsibility when it doesn't work out, instead of giving excuses and blaimin other people for it.

mr buckeye are you scared that Rich Rodriguez is going to Michigan, I know they would be horrible next season because he doesn't have the personnel to run his offense yet at michigan but in a couple of years from now, they might start owning you guys 2 years from now especially if highly touted high school phenom Terrelle Pryor signs for Michigan.

The original post says that since there are too many unemployed graduates in Nigeria, the best of this graduates should be employed as teachers to reduce unemployment. This is just a part of the solution not the full solution. . There are other ways like electricity, access to loans, good transportation networks. agricultural subsidies, low interest rates.
My arguement for free education is that, if education becomes free, lots of students would flood the schools thereby creating demand for more teachers and more college graduates to teach the kids and this would PARTLY solve the unemployment problem.

The reason why i initially said that free education is a fundamental human right is that, there are many many people in Nigeria who still can't afford to send there kids to school, and this kids are our potential Albert Einstein's, Bill Gates, Rockefeller's, Andrew Carnegie's, and future cancer curers, but if these kids don't have access to education they would end up being touts, agbero's and ashewo's or worse of all, it would become like the KENYA's, UGANDA's and other African countries where uncles and family friends force 8, 9 year olds to sleep with them in exchange for school fees.[color=#990000][/color]

So for Nigeria to move towards a MORDERN economy, it would need a great public education system. Also, Nigeria's universities are sooooooo extremely pathetic, the institutions curriculums are incredibly outdated and if there is anyway that Nigeria is ever going to move forward, it would have to start from the universities, because, no one is going to expect a PHd holder to be planting cocoa instead of developing ICP's, in other words, being an agricultural economy is just not going to cut it in todays world.

as much as i don't like ZUMA, is election was a triumph for democracy in Africa, compared to that useless joke of a country named naija. On the other hand, while Mbeki was great for south africa economically, on the social aspect, it was a disaster. Instead of spending money on social services like welfare or free education or free health care for south africa's poor, he neglected them, as a result it led to a strong economy and a strong currency that a majority of the nations black people did not benefit from, hence the high crime rate in South Africa. Then there was his denial of HIV causing AIDS. Gosh what pathetic leaders we have in Africa. What a shame.

They need to allow foreign owners to pump money into there league (Roman Abramovich anyone), Germans have tight restrictions on foreign ownership in there league, in fact, i think you have to be a member of the team or something like that.

oya then, i have already stated my points. You state your own very clear points on how nigeria can move forward instead of your generic points like "We need to start implementing solutions we can afford to maintain and make sure that we do not open the door to more problems".

At least give me 10 clear points for Nigeria to move forward. I said a state led industrialization drive only possible by education would do the job but you disagree otherwise.
If Nigerian graduates are unemployed isn't that telling you something that our educational system is not practical but theoretical, that our colleges are not making our students enterpreneurs, that you have students who can't even create a micro-electronic device and they call themselves "electrical engineers", that you have students who can't write a JAVA or C++ program talkless of developing there own software and they call themselves computer scientists. As far as i am concerned, if you have a college degree and you're not capable of starting your own business or branching out on your own, then your education is useless. Our college professors spend time giving our kids too much info. (textbooks) to cram but the students can't apply it to the real world, there is no research done in the universities whatsoever, the profs are busy passing handouts and sleeping with students. Let me put this pomp and plainly, if you're an architect and you can't start your own business after college then your degree is worthless, my roommates here use big time software programs for architecture design meanwhile those in UNILAG are still using T-square and compass, the same goes for civil engineering. This shows that we urgently need to overhaul our university educational system. College kids here are given projects to come up with something new or to design something in there senior class, i don't know whether they do that at Ohio State but they probably do at Michigan .
I believe the govt should create industries like i said earlier: heavy industries and light industries. The heavy industries would require LOTS of skilled personnel (hence the free education), we would need a lot engineers and other scientists than we have now, thereby reducing unemployment. In naija we have a ministry of industry but all they do is embezzle money.
Also, most important of all should be the access to credit or loans for anybody who wants to start a business, in other words, if i want to start a business today, all i would need to do is go to the bank and get loans and tomorrow i am open, instead of going to all the ministries and bribing everybody to the top.
Also, like i said earlier, the govt needs to slash interest rate to at least 4%, we need to capitalize on the low value of our currency like Japan did making there exports desirable to the rest of the world, instead of hiking interest rates so that the naira would appreciate towards the dollar (which is absurd). Now the problem is finding something to produce that the rest of the world wants like hi-tech products, agriculture is just not going to cut it in the mordern day economy.

Never mind Ron Paul, he is irrelevant, he is never gonna win the nomination talkless of the presidency.

That's why i like yanki, everybody has a serious business approach to life. They are all focused that's why they are so excellent and achieve a lot, we instead we go dey play. Here in yanki some people work 70 hours a week and they are so focused in what they do because they want to be the best by all means, in naija on the other hand, people would discourage you (ah oga you too dey work). How can i naija student be fit for employment when he can't even use a computer. He cant use basic software applications such as Microsoft Excel and they can't even type proficiently (if they press A, it would take them a long time to find B on the same keyboard) talkless of using Microsoft Word. They are not even fit for the technical or science field when they can even use C++ or even JAVA.
