mikolo80:No I don't think you get it. People don't want to get involved in a game that's rigged. Why would I want to get involved in a game when the outcome as already being decided that's not true competition and the people know that for the most part. |
mikolo80:Since when did political office become for the political elites? Democracy is a govt of the people and for the people not some wealthy overlords who over see there kingdom. This is a republic for goodness sakes not a serfdom. |
mikolo80:My goodness!! You have such low standards. You are like that girl that stays with the abuser because he doesn't "hit me everyday". |
mikolo80:But how do you take a chance when it's not there in the first place? |
Ovokoo:You forgot the guy who takes the game waaaaaaaaày too seriously. You would think that scouts from Barcelona and Arsenal were in the building. Don't forget the goalkeeper that thinks he is a striker He will take the ball out and dribble am the other players and try to score. Then there is the selfish guy who would never pass to the open man. He will want to take on almost every one on the pitch. Let's not also forget the guy who just wants to look good on the pitch. He doesn't really want put it in the effort. Another one we have is the deluded guy who thinks he is as gifted as ozil of Ronaldo when in actuality he is nowhere close. But that doesn't stop him from attempting every audacious move on the pitch. The annoying thing is that he is never able to pull them off meaning that he loses possession of the ball a lot and when he does he never even makes an attempt to win the ball back leaving the poor overworked defender to clean up the mess. Last but not least is the excuses guy who blames everything from his shoes or the pitch to the opponents rough tactics for his inability to perform. Players like this ausuallyre like the super serious guy (above) who blame their teammates on the pitch but never take responsibility when they are at fault. |
mikolo80:First of all, about your analogy of bullets being wet and rafts being underwater are just horrendous analogies. Try again. Neither makes much sense. Secondly, what I was trying to get at is that you can't keep voting in the same people over and over again and expecting different results, that's like the definition of insanity. You can't solve a problem with the same type of thinking that caused it in the first place. You need a clean break from the past. |
mikolo80:Believe me there are a lot of smart Nigerians in nigeria and all over the world who can change the course of this country if given the chance. |
ZorGBUooeh:Ambode is in essence saying the Fed govt has no right to own all land and he is right. Fed govt seizing land back in the 70s is one of the worst policies ever passed in this country, right up there with the govts decision to seize schools from the missionaries. It's one of the major reasons Nigeria is still poor. For Nigeria to flourish, property rights of individual citizens must be first and foremost of all economic and political agenda in this country. In plain language, what I am saying is that if I own propety like land, everything on (and under the land) is mine including the mineral resources there. So the Fed govt has no right to seize my land and sell it to Exxon Mobil because oil is there. No it's mind and mine only shikena? How difficult is that for you to understand? |
mikolo80:Buhari had to pay 25 million to his party to be able to run for office and he is not the only one. Other parties charge Presidential hopefuls to run under their party platforms. exhorbitantly. If you think that this only happens at the presidential level then you are mistaken because to run for any political post from the local to the federal level you have to pay off your party. In essence what I saying is that the barriers to entry for the common folks is waaaaaay too high. You have to be real wealthy or super connected for a party to throw their backing at you. That's why there was a recent constitutional ammmendment proposed that allows anyone who can gather enough signatures to run for office instead of going through a political party. That could be the most important thing thing ever done by the Fed govt ever because it will allow outsiders to get into office instead of the same ol' politicians. |
ZorGBUooeh:So it was only Lagos that gets allocation abi? Where did your own allocations go? |
ZorGBUooeh:Nope! I was hoping he can reach you cos it doesn't look like I am reaching you. |
ZorGBUooeh:I responded to some of the things I could understand. The rest were incoherent. |
ZorGBUooeh:First of all, I don't understand your grammar. I can only vaguely make out what you are saying. Please rewrite what you wrote up there. I have had to read multiple times to understand what you are trying to pass across. Secondly, what i said was that Lagos was Not necessarily developed with palm oil and groundnut because back then we didn't have the revenue sharing model we have today back then. Thirdly when it came to revenue sharing the fed govt also gave other regions money so your assertion that the fed govt has been developing Lagos "to the detriment of other regions" is just false. All the money that was given to the other states what did they do with it? Pray do tell Me? We are talking about removing land from the govt's and given it back to the peiple and you are talking about something else. Abeg, omohayek and blue3k can you people make out what this brother is saying? |
ZorGBUooeh:I am not disputing the fact that oil revenue was used to "develop" Lagos what I was disputing was your earlier assertion where you said that revenue from the east and North was used to develop Lagos which I argued against. |
ZorGBUooeh:Wrong!! Crude oil did not become a big deal till the oil boom of the 70's long after the british had left. Try again. |
ZorGBUooeh:Lagos was "developed" by groundout money and palm oil money? Since when did the British or the leaders in the first republic use revenue from another region to develop another? I understand that the Fed govt collects revenue through taxes but the regions developed themselves with their own revenue. Thats how things worked. It wasnt until.the millitary took over and started creating multiple states did we truly start this revenue sharing nonsense we practice today. Besides, with all the money the Fed govt give this states what have they used it for? |
omohayek:As in eh? That's why I feel that in other to change Nigeria you need outsiders (preferably not living in nigeria) to make wholesale changes. The people in the system can't see anything different from what they practice. All they know is the system they have lived in all their lives. |
ZorGBUooeh:Lagos developed by the North's revenue? You do know that this pathetic model of revenue allocations that we practice now mostly started after the British left right? Lagos was successful because it was a prominent port city and port cities tend to be rather well off in most countries. |
davidodiba:What is this one even saying? Why is a poor country having such a large and inefficient govt? Uh? Why does a poor country like this have 36 ministries and 36 states? And yet this people don't see the need to downsize? |
TRUTH2020:So is this the game we are playing this days? Taking sides with thieves? My favorite thief is better than your favorite thief. Is that what naija has come down to?Since when did two wrongs make a right? Na wa for this country sef. |
kodded:So we are defending crooks now? My favorite crook is better than your favorite crook? Is this the game we are playing nowadays? |
lofty900:Wrong!!! How about not looting in the first place? Keep your hands to yourself. This is why we need to get rid of state owned enterprises like NLNG and NNPC. They are vehicles off corruption and they need to be sold off. |
TunezMedia:Wow!!!! Emiefiele see wetin your high interest rates dey cause? We really need to start looking at bank reforms in this country to encourage competition. There are too few banks around and they act like cartels. |
SmoothNigerian:Oh the irony of this post ![]() |
Addme:Dude you are expecting too much. This is Nigerian journalism we are talking about not the New York Times hahaha. |
Wow! I am impressed. |
davidodiba:Naija moving forward? You mean by employing more people to an already over bloated bureaucracy? |
GR8ST:Someone give this man a 21 gun salute. How can you tell someone to chose between dying by gun or drowning? |
Tallysmallz:Can someone please explain all these "broke this, broke that" nonsense that some nigerians like saying. Its really amusing and absurd at the same time. Its as if so called "broke" people are a different species or something. Watching some Nigerians calling their fellow Nigerians broke is like a beggar looking down on another beggar because he got the biggest crumbs today. In case most Nigerians didn't know, Nigeria is ranked as one of the poorest nations in the world with over 60% of the population live on less than $ 2.00 dollars a day yet you would see Nigerians bragging and looking down on other Nigerians who are less fortunate than they are and call them "broke" when they themselves are either just as "broke" or just marginally well off. It's like someone making 4 dollars a day looking down on someone making 2 dollars a day. It's so ridiculous it's not even funny. Talk about ignorance, vanity, elitism and snobbery mixed up together. In developed countries like the US you hardly hear the white folks make fun of people because of their socio economic status but its amongst the blacks that the mentality is prevalent. Not to talk of Nigeria, one of the poorest nations in the world where the majority is wallowing in poverty another person would come and be looking down on his fellow man in the struggle and calling them broke just because he managed to get in line ahead of his colleagues this time to get crumbs that fall from the table. Animal kingdom mentality at its worst. Humble yourself before circumstances humble you. On another note, with all this fascination about "broke guys" why don't we hear topics about broke girls? Why must it be the guy that people refer to as broke? I hardly come on here and hear anything about broke females, it's always the guy. As if the economic situation in this country is different for men and women. Are they not all in the same boat? |
