This doesn't deserve a reply, cause you're obviously talking something else. What I pointed out is "interest rate and central banks" not other duties of central banks. I wanted to inform you how that violates the principles of free market which you hold dear.

Go to Google and search "why do central banks adjust interest rate?". Alternatively, read this link by bank of England where the question was answered http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/monetarypolicy/Pages/how.aspx

I' am out.
I know why central banks adjust interest rates but i have no clue what that has to do with Emiefiele continuing the disastrous policy of pegging the naira to the dollar but either way, I have no time to argue.

Oh and by the way, you are a freaking conspiracy theorists that's why I couldn't take you seriously enough cos you dont have credibility because folks like you see what you want to see. You selwctove look for facts rhat support your suspicions instead of challenging them.

Wait a minute!!. You're quoting all these economic jargons and you don't even know why central banks adjust interest rates? And you're talking about economics?

Of course, you don't know the so called free market is just a term the world bank and IMF use whenever targeting a country to exploit.

For your information, by adjusting interest rate, central banks regularly determine what rate commercial banks peg their borrowing and loan to the public at large. This immediately impacts the economy of that nation. In fact, when the US federal Reserve does that it affects the world. It could be used to cause inflation or deflation, create demands, jobs, buying power, e.t.c. whatever the purpose. Free market my foot!!.
Oh Lord have mercy! This is getting too much.

First of all, Dr. Pseudo economist, this is the way central bank works. They have required reserves and excess reserves. Banks are required to deposit part of there money at the central bank (required reserves) and this is determined by the required ratio. The excess reserves are the cash reserves in excess of the required ratio that the bank voluntarily decides to keep with the central bank should they chose to.
http://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/bank-reserve.asp
Secondly, the central bank adjust rates via something we call open market operations where they can control the money supply by either buying or selling govt securities. For example in Inflatiin (in technical terms? excess money supply in an economy), the govt tries to reduce the money supply by selling govt securities which in turn increases the interest rates.

Thirdly, the central bank is the lender of last resort to banks What that means is that when ecobank is in trouble and no one wants to zenith does not want to lend them.money anymore because they dont have faith in them paying back there is no one else they can turn to except for the central bank. We saw this in the last financial crisis of 09 when the Fed reserve board in New York intervened to lend money to Bear Stearns an investment bank that was having serious troubles.

Another control the central bank imposes on banks is that they should have a minimum deposits in there own accounts (different from the required reserves) at the end of the day and If they don't they usually have to borrow (at interest of course) from other banks. This things are out in place to ensure a stronger banking system as supposed to the old days when a little thing resulted in panics which cascaded and shut down the economies leading to recession.
http://www.cnbc.com/2015/04/10/how-does-the-fed-raise-interest-rates.html

All this controls are put in place so as to stabilize the fimancial system so.that it would not be vulnerable shocks and other market forces like back In the day. For example, the bank panic of 1907.
RomanceRe: Have You Dated A Girl/Guy Who Doesn't FORGIVE? by davidif: 11:01am On Apr 08, 2017
WriteBoy:
Have you ever dated a girl who finds it very hard to forgive people; even for minor and petty offences that should take not more than a day to get over? Please share your story and how you dealt with it. I'll go first.

I met her here on Nairaland, I sent her a PM and she replied. I thought, hmm, awesome -- after all these years and countless ignored PM's, maybe she likes me and what she's seen on my profile.

We exchanged numbers that morning (it was a Friday morning) but I did not call her until the next day. When we eventually spoke, I found out we had so many things in common and I really liked her because she spoke well, was witty and did not beat around the bush; things I love in a woman. Although there was like four years age difference between us (she was the older one) we still decided to keep in touch and grow the relationship to see where it goes.

For the first week, it was pure bliss, we would talk and talk on the phone. We discussed all sorts of things, I didn't feel a need to be guarded or anything; she was a no holds-barred-kind-of-person. We talked about so many things: career, interests, hobbies, five year plans, ten year plans -- the works, everything.

By the third week, we were beginning to have serious feeling for each other and the relationship was becoming increasingly sweeter. I discovered that she liked to hear and talk about dirty things grin grin (by dirty, I mean sexy and raunchy) and that sparked my interest in her the more. I think it was the same for her because she told me she felt really happy each time she called or I called her.

By the fourth week, on a Monday, we made plans to see that Sunday. The agreement was that I would come visit her and then she would return the visit in two weeks time. Okay, great.

Then I got robbed. Armed robbers came to my house to rob me. That was on Tuesday of that same week. The armed robbers carted away my laptop, phones, modem and other valuables. It was quite a dark time for me. I had to use all the money I had to replace the items the robbers took. After I was done replacing all of those things, I was quite broke and I figured I would not be able to make it down to her place anymore.

We'd initially agreed that would I call to confirm my coming on Sunday by Friday before noon. I couldn't do that because I did not have a phone. I went to my cousin's house and borrowed a phone from him, and then went to retrieve my SIM on the Friday that I was supposed to call her to confirm. Before I could finish getting back online that day, it was well past 4 pm. The moment I switched the phone on, her call came in.

We hadn't spoken at all since the robbery incident happened so I tried to bring her up to speed on my current situation and also to let her know that I would not be able to make it. She banged the phone on me.

I tried to call back. Called severally, but she wouldn't pick up. Hmmm. So I let her be.I called again two days later, this time she picked but she made it clear she was angry with me for not having called her. I apologized several times and also told her what happened but that did not pacify her or cool down her anger. She then told me that I'd done something which she hates passionately, this, that, bla-bla-bla. Again, I apologized to her. But she wasn't having any of it.

I then asked her how much time she needed in order to get over my slight, to my surprise, she said nine months. I kid you not: nine months to get over the fact that someone did not call you when they were supposed to call!

I thought she was joking, but no she wasn't. She meant every word of it.

I waited two weeks and then called her. I wasn't calling her because I wanted to beg again -- I just wanted to let her know what a terrible human being she was. If it takes nine months to forgive a delayed call, I bet It will take ten years to forgive a slight of a higher magnitude.

I broke things off there and then. I don't need that kind of negativity in my life. No one does.

Please share your experience dating a person who just won't forgive and is quick to anger.
Bros, you sure dodged a bullet.

What do you mean by INTERVENE. How is intervention different from routine sales of oil receipts.
What evidence do you have that there is any intent to influence rates or appreciate the naira?
Has there ever been a time in recent history that the CBN DID NOT sell dollars every week?
I don't see this as targeting the exchange rate at all but rather performing statutory duty and selling to legitimate buyers within available supply.
It is only unsustainable if the sale exceeds receipts .Is that the case. Do you have the data.
.
? If you have data of how much the CAN made in dollars in the last 3 month so vs sales then share it.Otherwise you are engaged in alarmist speculation

Who calls it dollarization? Can you back this claim up with Evidence. The fact of the matter is the parallel market is the real market and market forces dominate. Once again the CBN is not a majority supplier to the market and so it is influential but more than half of the supply comes from elsewhere and the market is very efficient in price discovery dynamics
What is he saying again? I told you earlier that when the central bank intervenes in the market to appreciate the value of the naira they have to sell dollars to buy naira in the open market which I said is unsustainable because we would run out of dollars eventually. So I said the Fed govt needs to stop intervening and trying to fix the exchange rate (setting it to the dollar) and let the market determine the value of the naira instead. How hard is all of This?

"Free market" and the latest addition "modern economy" and all other economic jargons, sounds good on paper. But, if only you actually understand the powers at play behind the scenes, you'll understand those terminologies is what the IMF and their syndicates use when they're interested in purchasing major assets in a target country. The IMF don't tell countries to devalue currency because they want to help them. It's a for-profit business entity.
Wrong! The free market system is the most original economic system used by man. It's being used since we used to trade by barter. It's a buyer and a seler comung together to exchange goods and services. It's simple supply and demand. In other words, I have something to sell and you have something to buy so let's exchange and be on our way. Simple as that.

What do you mean by Float? IS's it not floating already? The CBN is not the only supplier in the market. It is not even the largest supplier. Last year diaspora suppliers put $ 600 million into the market weekly on average. Price was determined by market forces so let us stop the self indulgent rhetoric. The naira is floating. What is happening on the CBN side of things is an allocation bottle that creates a corrupt premarket market after which that supply enters the real market and floats .
Oh goodness me! The naira is pegged him the dollar. They call it dollarization.

In terms of monetary policy, let the naira float. Let the market (demand and supply) determine the true value of the naira. It will plummet the short term but it will eventually stabilize like it did with Egypt and several others before us. That's how markets work.

By the way, who made your IMF the world's regulator of currencies?

This is one of many colonial instruments created after the second world War to keep on milking third world countries. You talk about Egypt, but you don't know the Egyptian pounds lost 50% value overnight immediately accepting IMF's offer. What's the situation in Egypt today? The hardship persists and amid that, foreign business hawks are all over the country buying up anything of value. Egypt as a country is almost for sale now. Is that what you want?

World bank and IMF are business groups and they care not about the development of any country. They're just opportunistic for-profit business entities.
Oh goodness! another person who doesn't know how the free market system works?
First of all, the Egyptians let there currency float and let the market determine the value of there currency as opposed to blindly propping it up.
Secondly, yes that's what happens when you stop propping up your currency, it temporarily drops in value until it stabilizes. That's how the free markets work.
And yes there is still hardship in Egypt just like there was before and the changes are not going to come over night but the first step in the right direction is having a stable economy and sound economics in place first before the country rebuilds and continues to attract investors. You know, the same thing your country seems incapabale of doing.
That's is how you run a modern economy.

The Roots !!!

Never change your real self/style to gain appeal to some people who care less about what you may have to offer... Originality matters a lot..

Davido signed to Sony Music and was not allowed to drop a single song for eleven months...The single drought adversely affected his career in terms of airplay, shows and awards.. By the time he was allowed to drop songs, he had to forfeit his creative control and dropped the poorly received Son Of Mercy EP where he had to do rnb, Patois ,trap and some other sounds alien to the davido we know..

Fast forward,Davido realized he had made a big mistake ...He realized he had stop giving people what attracted sony/Rca to him in the first place..
His African rhythm/melody....His creative control had been seized and he was being forced to do songs that appealed to the whites...

Swiftly, he posted on his Instagram that f**k the international s**I and claimed he is back to his roots and his basics...He also added that his creative control had been returned.. He sacked his manager,Kamal and got his old pal ,Asa asika on board...

...Long story short, Davido returned to what we knew him for..Pure Gbedu African Sound...His Single " IF is the biggest single at the moment ...And his next singles ( all African jams ) Fall. BabyTomato and Won le ba are all potential hits..Davido had even set aside his international feature titled kpere ft youngthug and swae Lee to later dates... Sense

.....

Wizkid since featuring Drake has been turned from the gbedu and lamba African sound giver to a reggae and dancehall singer.. The plan is to turn wizkid completely to a dancehall singer... Bounce along with Zara Larsson, u don't know with Justine Skye, Kranium's believe ,major laser Boom boom, Daddy Yo,Sweet love ,fine wine remix,Rkelly thank you ...

Every single Song has been a drift to the reggae ragga Impression...No wonder the latest song "whine for me ' was with Vybez kartel...Some might say Wizkid is trying to appeal to international market or he does global music now , but which of the So called globally appealing music has made it as big as Ojuelegba, where Africa percussions and the Yoruba langugage signifying his roots was used..

Which of these globally appealing singles have gotten airplays like in my bed, Ojuelegba. Show me the money...

Fela anikulapo kuti invented afro beats and today , he is more known internationally than any Nigerian artist ...Sunny Ade was nominated for Grammy for his juju music...

* You can't do it better than the people that owns the stuff, no matter how you try,U will only be close to them '

Davido raked in Over 45 million from shows according to his Snapchat from shows after he released If ....Wizkid has not performed in Nigeria since last year !!! who is gaining and who is losing...

Wizkid , I beg of you , take us back to the days of no lele, Oluwa lo ni, ojuelegba, mummy mi, Holla at your boy , tease me.. We are tired of this your " Do what the teacher say don't come late " and reggaeton oyinbo vibes..

African music can get you the Grammy.Ask.Angelique kidjo ,Soweto choir and Yiussoif Dior.
