otokx: Autopsy will most probably be inconclusive, a public enquiry will cost tax payers money. If the guy is so convinced, let him approach the medical and dental council or the court of law.
The hospital it appears is liable for conducting a second surgery without consent.
Finally human error is always a possibility even in advanced countries tho quite rare. A public enquiry will cost taxpayer money? Of course it will and it should. That's the reason people are supposed to pay taxes so that we can find out what went wrong and prevent it from happening again. As for an autopsy, if it is inconclusive then it means that the people who performed it are incompetent because it is clear even to the lay man that this was a botched surgery and that those that conducted the surgery should have there licenses revoked. |

romelady: Medical errors in hospitals kill more Nigerians every year than AIDS, malaria, breast cancer and auto accidents combined.
But Arlindo Defreitas, a Portuguese national living in Lagos, never thought his wife would be one of those statistics. After all, he attended almost 5 years of medical school back in Portugal. But when his wife took a turn for the worse during a cesarean section at the Medical Art Center (MART) in Lagos, he went from being confident to helpless and lost husband, afraid of questioning the care she was getting, for fear it would become worse. Arlindo, who now has to care for his son alone after his wife died following the cesarean section, says his wife was killed by doctors at the Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Onigbongbo, Lagos, based hospital. "When I entered the theater all her organs was scattered around, I couldn't look , it was like the work of a butcher." I told the doctor my wife is not a cow, he said. Arlindo said his wife, Amaka, 24, showed no signs of distress in the weeks following up to the c-section. According to him, after 4 years trying to conceive, his wife finally got pregnant and was a pre-natal care patient at the MART Hospital. " Last week Friday at 41 weeks of pregnancy, doctors at the hospital told us that no baby water was seen and as a result a cesarean section operation must be done as soon as possible." The procedure was done and the baby was delivered by 8.30 am on Saturday, and we were very happy- for a short time, he said. "I was very happy even though the baby almost died as I was told by the doctors that the baby was almost 'strangled' by the umbilical cord, the head was red and one arm was white, the skin was very wrinkled." "My wife was moved out of the theater and transferred to a private room to recuperate"' At some point she was in excruciating pain, and the doctors kept giving her doses upon doses of pain killers". "I was uncomfortable and I told them that from my experience as a medical student years ago I think my wife hemorrhaged. At that point Arlindo watched as her condition steadily worsened, until doctors asked him to leave the room. He claimed that after his persistence the doctors ran a test and said that his wife lost a lot of blood during the cesarean section. "I was asked to leave and wait for a call before coming back, so I went home". In the words of Michael Klimek, a friend of Arlindo and a fellow European from Germany, " after she delivered the baby, the doctor told her that she have to drink 5 bottles of water ." I was shocked, everybody knows how dangerous it is for a woman that just underwent C- Section to drink water". " After drinking the water, the bleeding started and it won´t stop. They gave her 2 bags of blood-transfusion, but it was not helpful." "Hours later the doctors said they have to cut her open again to find out what was going on with her, Klimek said in shock. At that point the husband said he was told that she has low blood a 12.7% packed cell volume (PCV)". " I said why can't you use ultrasonic Tools and scans to see what’s going on, instead of cutting her open again and allowing her lose more blood which is already a problem". "By the time I got to the hospital, they already cut her open for the second surgery, they opened her thorax from under the breast down – and finally, they found nothing after 4 hours of operation." "I was an emotional wreck by this point." I never gave consent for the second surgery, nobody in my wife's family did, Arlindo told Per Second News . "Until this moment cause of death is still unknown". "I don´t understand this doctors and hospitals. This “Photoshop certificate Doctor” killed our best friend and for this he must be imprisoned for life and the MART Hospital shut down for ever. And none of this doctor or nurses must practice in this profession again, said an angry Klimek, friend of the husband. " I am from Germany and when this things happen in Germany or Europe, the government conduct an investigation, I hope, this will be the same here, he asked. "Now I can understand, why your president went to medical check up outside of Nigeria, he concluded. The husband of the deceased claim that one Dr Moses butchered his wife to death, "yes Moses killed my wife". " After they noticed their mistake they refuse to tell me details, I called them continuously and they won't pick my phone". Per Second News reached out to the hospital and the chief medical director, Prof Oladapo Ashiru, said the Mart medicare gave the deceased high quality care with experienced professionals. " The lady Amaka, was young, she said she was 24 but she looked 21". " He said all those that attended to her from the Obstetrician to the Anesthesiologist and Nurses are well experienced professionals. Ashiru said he has well over 40 years experience. He revealed that he was not part of the team that worked on Amaka and directed us to the consultant who spoke to Per Second News about what transpired. MART MEDICARE According to Dr Makewu of the MART hospital, "w ith the help of fertility doctors from the MART Center, Amaka Defeitas, conceived using IVF, after which we had a meeting with the couple detailing a 13 week management plan that includes C-section at birth. "Mr Defreitas rejected the C-section saying he wanted his wife to have it the natural way, despite several medical advice from us". "At 37 weeks there was no sign of labor and they were still insisting on natural means". I didn't see them or hear from them again until I called them at 39 weeks and she said she travelled and was not around". "They finally came when the pregnancy was a 41 weeks. " After a scan no baby water was seen at that point I told them categorically that a C-Section must be done immediately." "We did the procedure and the baby arrived Saturday morning, except for the umbilical cord that was around the baby's neck, everything was fine, both mother and baby were fine and we even moved her out of the theater to the normal room for her to recuperate." " Hours after the first surgery she started complaining of tummy ache and severe pain, despite the pain killers being administered on her, she also complained of abdominal pain. "She was pale and we ran a test and found out that her blood level was 12.7 percent low, at that point we did the second surgery to find out what was the cause of pain". Dr Makewu put the blame at the doorsteps of the Defreitas, saying the operation should have been done weeks before the 41 week period. Asked about cause of death, he said autopsy is currently being carried out. But Mr Defreitas insists that it was an error on the part of the doctors to cut his wife open for the second time within a 24 hour period. Justifying his claim, Defreitas, said he did not give his consent for the second surgery because he expected the hospital to do a comprehensive CT-Scan of the Pelvic & Abdomen to get the right diagnosis, rather the doctors did a normal blood test which will never tell you if a patient has a blood clot or something more fatal. " I insisted in scan but before I arrived at the hospital they already cut her open and allowing her to lose more blood leading to her death". A doctor close to the family said " Possibly she bled a lot at first surgery, maybe the womb did not contract well also". " She could also have had a DIC (Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation) an acquired bleeding disorder from too much blood loss, which makes it impossible for the body to stop further blood loss". Defreitas, a retired professional with Lufthansa, German airline opened up in a lengthy discussion with Per Second News about living with the heartbreaking loss of his wife, Amaka, an Imo state indigene. The family are still in shock and traumatised over the mysterious death of Amaka Defreitas, with the husband demanding that an independent postmortem be done on the remains of his wife. " We travelled all over the world together and looking forward to spending our lives in Nigeria, its so sad, I don't know what to do next". Speaking with Per Second News Dr Tiffany Jones, a US based obstetrician, said the case of the late Amaka Defreitas, is both pathetic and curious, wondering the rationale for making her go under the knife within 24 hours after the C-Section. She said the most common reason women die during C-sections is bleeding. Bleeding can be fast and severe and by the time any medical protocol can be instituted, sometimes it’s just too late. " That is why I believe the second surgery was not necessary". "Other C-section complications include bladder injury, infection, bowel injuries and blood clots, which can sometimes result in pulmonary embolisms. A pulmonary embolism is a potentially fatal blockage of the main artery of the lung by a substance that has traveled from somewhere else in the body."
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Amaka’s husband, family and son during this difficult time. Where is the website you copied this from? |

Education › Nigerian American Teen Gets Admitted Into All 8 Ivy League Schools. by davidif(op): 11:43pm On Apr 05, 2017 |
A young American of Naija descent got into all 8 ivy league schools (the best of the best American universities) including MIT and Tufts. Congrats. If there is anything i have learnt so far in my life is that talent is universal but resources aren't. Have a good day y'all. (CNN)Talk about an embarrassment of riches. A New Jersey teenager has to make a decision soon most high school seniors can only dream of -- deciding on which Ivy League school to attend in the fall. The problem, if you want to call it that, is that she was accepted into all of them. All eight of them. Ifeoma White-Thorpe said she was shaking when she got the eighth acceptance letter. "I was like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, like this might be eight out of eight and I clicked it and it said 'Congratulations' and I was like oh my goodness!" White-Thorpe told CNN affiliate WABC-TV. White-Thorpe, a senior and student government president at Morris Hills High School in Rockaway, has to choose between Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Dartmouth and Brown. She wants to study biology and pursue a career in global health. Since all of the Ivy League schools "have great research facilities," she decided to apply to them all. Students getting into all of the Ivies is a monumental feat, but it's happened to a handful of teens over the past couple of years -- Kwasi Enin in 2014, Harold Ekeh in 2015 and Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna and Kelly Hyles last year. So where will she go? Her parents said the choice is totally up to her; White-Thorpe said she just doesn't know yet. She can add another elite school to the mix as well -- she also got into Stanford. http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/04/us/teen-ivy-league-trnd/index.html |

BarometerNG: Nigerian banks prosper as United Bank for Africa (UBA), Access Bank and Zenith Bank have all registered big increases in revenues and profits, while the national economy continues to struggle. UBA’s financial report, which was released on 27 March, revealed a 22% increase in gross earnings from N315bn ($991m) in 2015 to N384bn ($1.2bn) last year. The bank’s pre-tax profits jumped 32% to N91bn ($286m). The bank has successfully expanded outside of its domestic market, with operations in 19 African countries, plus the UK, US and France, all contributing to the positive financial results. UBA has 11m customers worldwide.
A spokesperson said: “UBA’s subsidiaries outside Nigeria are increasingly gaining market share, reinforcing the strong and impressive subsidiary contribution to the Group, estimated at one-third of profit in 2016, from a quarter in 2015 financial year.”
The contribution of UBA’s non-Nigerian operations have contributed to the 20% rise in the company’s share price in the twelve weeks between 1 January and the announcement of its financial results. Nigerian banks are now beginning to join those from South Africa, Kenya, Morocco, the UK and France in establishing operations in many different African markets. None as yet, however, can genuinely claim to be Pan-African banks.

TonyeBarcanista: By TonyeBarcanista
I read the statement credited to Presidential Spokesman Segun Adesina advocating that President Muhammadu Buhari, his boss should seek reelection in 2019 and even assured him of victory.
One of the problems with public administration in this country is the attitude of those around the corridors of power and their shameless sycophancy. It is only a sycophant that will suggest that a president, that not only failed woefully within two years of assuming power but also is caught up with the challenges that comes with his age as a 74 years old.
FEMI STATEMENT INSULTING ON NIGERIANS I find it insulting on the intelligence of Nigerians that instead of the President Aide to advice his boss to consider bowing out in honor in 2019 if he wouldn't for the sake of his ego step down now, Femi instead is already pushing him to seek reelection, thereby exposing the President to further ridicule and a potential disgraceful defeat.
For the sake of posterity, the President has been battling ill-health since the first quarter of 2016. He has gone on medical trips to London for a record 5 times and spent a cumulative 82 days for this cause between the said period and now, the longest being the 50 days he spent in the first quarter of this year 2017.
WE CAN'T CONTINUE TO FUND HIS MEDICAL BILL: In September 2016 alone, Buhari media Aide Shehu Garba admitted that the President spent a whopping N20,000,000 to treat his ear alone, even though Nigerians believed that the money expended was in the region of £3-£6Million, yet the quoted amount is too exorbitant when one consider the high level poverty rate in the country and the fact that N1,000,000 is considered a luxury for an average Nigerian. More worrisome is the fact that the President men never showed invoices or receipt to back up their N20,000,000 claim.
Only a couple of days ago, government spokesman Alhaji Lai Mohammed came out to tell Nigerians bluntly that the administration will not disclose what was expended on the President in his 50 days medical sojourn in the UK, a statement any rational being will consider insulting considering that the administration came on the change mantra and pledged transparency, as well as the existing Freedom of Information Act that was passed and practised during the PDP administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
We cannot afford to be paying from the meagre resources of the country for the unending health challenges of the President. It is a shame that even the President admitted of returning to London to continue where his doctors stopped and Nigerians money in the range of millions will be expended on that trip. Such a lifestyle cannot be sustained for another 2 years not to talk of an additional 4 years.
BUHARI'S 2019 EXIT IS SACROSANCT I wish to add that Nigeria constitution grants executive power on the President, it therefore means that the President must up and fit to perform his mandate, there is no room for part time or ceremonial presidency in Nigeria and we can't smuggle it in. It is either the President quit and face his health challenge or he remains in power and honorably bow out at the expiration of his mandate in 2019, this is what Nigerians expect of him, this is what is fair to him.
The President must bow out in 2019, he has made history by leading the country as both a military man and a civilian, he has made history has the first opposition politician to defeat a sitting president and ruling party in Nigeria, but he has largely failed in his duties, his health is posing a big challenge both to him and to the purse of Nigeria, the only honourable thing is for him to exit after the expiration of his term in 2019. Anything other than this will lead to his disgrace at the poll in 2019. Nigerians are prepared for this patriotic task.
May God Bless Us All And Bless Nigeria will

Amicably discuss this with your wife, try to find out if she has that suspected challenges in her work place, show her that you are ready to work with her to put off that randy boss off the business by setting him up, She must find a way of getting his nude videos, speeches secretly, she will pass it to you, that enough, will threaten his job forever, get that video across to the boss after a month with another number that he will never suspect your wife , the rest will be a story, do not threaten him rather advise him to stay off girls/women that is not his wife or he will find that video in the internet, he will be surprise where the whole thing is coming from and have a change of attitude, but if he refused, try to get his boss number and transfer the video to his boss for an escalation, with that , the rest will be bigger story this time What are you talking about?
