What do you mean by saying the Indians? Betterstill, why don't you say DANA airline. Indians have one of the best aeronautical engineering in the world and their enginners are almost everywhere in our aviation sector with our own people that were trained over there in India.

I thank God for averting another big loss!

mobeenet: y ll how skuls be d same. d structures/buildings are not increasing at the level atvwhich they are to. staff allowances are dere. pls go on strike as long as d FG is not ready to fulfil deir promise. will dey use dier own money for dat?
Really? I can see your part of those that are yet to realise what ASUU is up to.

Do you realize that the PRIMARY aim of what ASUU tag 'struggle' and some Nigerians call 'their right' is their EARNED ALLOWANCE?? *i laugh in spanish* I keep asking myself this question, if ASUU can be so desperate and inconsiderate to go this far(2 months old strike plus and still counting) just because of earned allowance, what will happen if their salaries or basic allowances are not paid? See its high time we realized this fact. Moreover, ASUU is not the only labour body in Nigeria even in the education sector, ASUP & that of COE are still there unresolved.

I understand the fact that an agreement is already on ground but i want you to understand that, thesame right that ASUU has to embark on senseless strikes is also thesame right i have got to be in class receiving lectures because i have paid all required fees.

Like i use to say, the FG meeting ASUU's demands today won't stop them from resuming another uncalled-for strike next year.

Nice development. I don't care if they are been sponsored by FG or not, all i am concerned about is that enough is enough!!! I have problem with ASUU going on that strike in the first place, so i will support any action against the strike to end it. And you FG, your own case na sorry... i dey come

EducationRe: Would You Drop Your Nigerian Education To Study Abroad? by Davo93(m): 5:03pm On Sep 21, 2013
amnestylaw1: I will talk from experience. Before I got admission to OAU, I had studied Mass Comm up to the ND level. At OAU, I was in LLB 3 when the opportunity to travel abroad to further my education arrived. People advised me not to unless I finish my legal studies but I said NO. Of course I got admitted into Law at the University of London International Programmes. This year my mates are just finishing from Law school in Nigeria while I am still at school here. I found out that even when I graduate from London International Programmes Law, I cannot be a Barrister and Solicitor in Nigeria because the programme I am taking is considered distance learning by the Council for Legal Education in Nigeria. Any Law degree earned via distance learning or part time outside Nigeria (even within Nigeria) is not recognized for NYSC mobilization and Law School mobilization.

So, I would advise you to finish your law programme in Nigeria and then go abroad to continue your LLM. That is better. But, if you must travel abroad, then please do not attend a distance learning program- especially if it is Law. With Communication and Media Studies, I would like that course because I am currently eyeing teaching positions in one of our universities or colleges. Of course you may work in the media as a presenter or journalist. My one cent.
Best Reply! Quite enlightening...

Since you don't mind taking up the new course at the expense of the Law your currently studying now, fine! I believe studying what makes you feel better at a nice atmosphere is a great idea. Besides, this ASUU bruhaha of a thing is not even making the whole system here interesting.
EducationRe: Would You Drop Your Nigerian Education To Study Abroad? by Davo93(m): 10:33am On Sep 21, 2013
Yes, I can. It actually depends, perhaps i'm studying a course that i am not happy with, i can start all over abroad but it were to be my dream course already, then i may not provided i am in my penultimate or final year.

...for a course generally perceived to be inferior to the one you are currently studying in Nigeria.
Oops, i might not want to dump what i've got for the less rated course abroad if the gap is wide. For example, if i am studying Medicine and Surgery here in Nigeria, i can't dump it for any science course(Botany, Biochemistry, Microbiology e.t.c) abroad.
SportsWe Will Be Back In Brazil -Echiejile by Davo93(op):

Eagles star defender Elderson Echiejile has declared Nigeria will be at their best against Ethiopia next month so as to be at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Question: How did it feel to beat Malawi and qualify for the final playoffs for the 2014 World Cup?
Elderson: It was great. We’re very much on course to meeting our targets. Malawi put up a big fight especially in the first half before Emmanuel Emenike scored the opening goal in first half stoppage time.

Were you surprised?
No, I was not. We knew they will come fighting to get a result so as to qualify to the next stage of the qualifying tournament.

What gave you the most satisfaction during the game?
When we scored the second goal and they were a man down.

Ethiopia stand between Nigeria and a place at next year’s World Cup in Brazil now. Most Nigerian fans say it will be a walk over. Do you agree?
No, I do not agree. I can understand the belief the fans now have in the Eagles, but we cannot afford to underrate any team especially at this stage of the qualifiers.

So, what do you think we should expect against them especially in Addis Ababa?
What is certain is that they will come with everything at us because they also want to be in Brazil for the World Cup. From our match at the AFCON, they showed they are a good team. They have speed and like to keep the ball. They are tactically not an easy team to come up against.

One other thing the experts are talking about is the high altitude in Addis, would this be a factor against the Eagles?
It could be a problem, but we are up for everything that will come up against us because we want to be in Brazil next year.

One of the titanic clashes in the African playoffs for the World Cup will be Ghana up against Egypt. What do you think?
It will be a very tough match for both teams.

And who will you back to go
through to the World Cup?

I will be supporting Ghana because I have some friends in the team.

Like who?
Asamoah Gyan and John Boye. We were together at Rennes in France.

What was it like when the Eagles took on Ethiopia after two drawn games and with Nigeria at the risk of crashing out of the 2013 AFCON at the first hurdle?
Certainly there must have been a lot of tension in and around the team. There was tension.

Would it be the same next month in Ethiopia?
It is a very important game, but we will be playing two legs and so it may be a little different.

What would be the best result for Nigeria in Ethiopia?
The result we will get after the match will be the best.

On head-to-head, Nigeria enjoy a better record against Ethiopia – the Eagles have won four, drew two and lost once. Should we rely on this record next month?
Records are always there, but we will just go all out to do our best so we could be in Brazil next year.

Do we now have a better team than the one who won the Nations Cup in South Africa in February?
It is the same team, we are just getting better together with each game and that is what it should be.

EducationRe: Ondo Students Seek Increased Bursary by Davo93(op): 12:30pm On Sep 20, 2013
Nice move by the NAOSS leadership and i wish Dr Mimiko will answer this clarion call... Without mincing words, i am sure the Ondo state government has the financial capacity to make the request come true.

Something worthy of note here and i am going to say it so that these neighbouring south west states can see they are not doing too well. Ondo state still leads in terms of students' welfare. School fees in AAUA is one of the cheapest admist state varsities in the country and the school aint doing badly.
EducationOndo Students Seek Increased Bursary by Davo93(op): 12:25pm On Sep 20, 2013
https://dockett.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/ondo-state-logo.jpgTHE National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) has urged the State government to increase their bursary allowances from N10,000 to N50,000 to help them meet financial demands.

The association noted that due to the increase of school fees by various institutions, the N10,000 can no longer cover their needs.

At a press conference in Akure, the state capital, the President of the association, Comrade AFolayan Awodola assured students that the newly-elected executives would continue to protect the interest of the students.

“From our quarters, we are demanding for increase in the bursary allowances from N10,000 to N50,000. This will enable students to meet their welfare demands in their various institutions. We advised the governor to work with the association to ensure favourable learning conditions for all students of Ondo origin in various tertiary institutions in Nigeria and Diaspora.

“We will make available our programmes that will be of impact to Ondo State students. The association will be coming up with it monthly editorial to show case the works done by the executive, educational, social and impactful programme that will be organized by the association to impact on the students,” he said.

On the Academic Staff Union of Nigeria Universities’ (ASUU) strike, the President urged the Federal Government to meet the demands of the union rather than playing lip service to education.
