Politics / Re: 'How CBN Emptied Its Vaults To Finance PDP’s Presidential Campaign - TheCable by dBard: 10:47am On Dec 04, 2015
OLADD:
Whether we like it or not, our type of democracy will always promote the act of using State funds to finance the election of public office holders be it at the State or Federal levels. This is not suggesting that it's a good practice or the best way to go but that's the reality. Has anybody asked questions on how Tinubu, Fashola, Ameachi , Aregbesola and other APC stalwarts allegedly used their respective State Funds to finance their party when they were in opposition? Did anybody try to unravel how Buhari's electioneering campaigns were financed (pls forget the story of N50 donations from members of the public)? How about the billions of Naira APC spent on advertisements both locally and internationally? Who financed the fuelling of the many private jets Buhari used during his nationwide campaigns? What about the money spent on Buhari's Chatham House appearance? Where did the funds come from? The answer is not farfetched. These are monies from State covers under spurious, fictitious and questionable expense heads. It's as simple as that. Obviously, the N78million and N300million allegedly spent by Fashola on Website and Borehole respectively might not have gone into his private pocket but for party financing purposes.
APC and Buhari are fighting a battle that may boomerang if care is not taken and I see them burning their fingers along the line. Kettles should desist from calling the pot black.

I agree with u, but on d oda hand, the fingers can burn for as long as it wants as long as,at the end of the day, an end is put to all these thievery

Even if she was not a minor, the details of the sexual encounters are alarming for me sef wey don old.
Because of this issue, I've been doing some readings. These statistics are crazy... shocked

THE FACTS ABOUT ADOLESCENT REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH IN NIGERIA (Source: http://www.siecus.org/inter/nigeria/acti/acti0002.html)
SEXUAL RELATIONS

7 out of every 10 males and 5 out of every 10 females attending secondary school in Nigeria are sexually active or have had sexual relations at least, once. A study in Benin City showed that 55% of the secondary school girls had sexual intercourse before age 16. A more recent study showed that the mean age of initiation of sexual intercourse is 13 years. shocked

PREGNANCY
Two out of every 5 secondary school girls interviewed admitted to at least one previous pregnancy. Over 900,000 births to adolescents occur annually and 150 out of every 1000 women who give birth in Nigeria are 19 years old and under.

ABORTION
Eighty percent of patients at Nigerian Hospitals with abortion-related complications are adolescent girls. shocked These complications include hemorrhage, septicemia, perforated uterus, secondary sterility and in many cases, death. Illegally induced abortion is described as a school girls' problem in Nigeria.

Welcome..
Once stated here, that in my experience @ work, 8 out of 10 women has had an abortion, it was taken out of context (m vs f)... a female Dr friend later kinda 'confirmed' it and most of these ladies must 've had them in their late teens.
Came across someone once, my former mechanic, who told me, that the 15-16,17s are the sweetest...he's a worker in a church now...
Met a 14 yr old sexually active teen recently @ work ..14!!
A friend's neighbors child..an obnoxious16+ old girl, got pregnant..mother covered it up, had d abortion without the fathers knowledge etc.
It's incredible the sh.it that goes on while our heads are buried.
We politicize/blatantly refuse t face anything in this country and then cry crocodile tears wen..

..and we wonder why the divorce rate is on the increase

This Sugabelly chic has even annoyed me once on NL. It was one of those petty fights where she was arguing that I was a moralistic hypocrite for saying big brother africa shower hour was unnecessary. I cussed her back of course, so I know a thing or two about her trying to sound enlightened. But I cannot use that to negate her realities. Amya, we can only make conjectures here and there since we were not there.
But I still maintain that her having consented to a style of sex today does not translate to consent at all sexual encounters, hence the probability of citing rape.

I tend to agree with u.
I see the point of 5minutesmadness's argument but like has bin said, Statutory Rape in d eyes of d law is statutory rape irrespective.
Secondly, if at 17 her consent is not recognized/ deemed inconsequential in d eyes of the law, doesn't that translate to Gross Abuse of her rights f her to be subjected to forms of sexual behavior which is considered somewhat as as abnormal sexual deviations
The rape accusation can be argued about, tho unnecessarily so, but wat of the abuse

Reading her story has made me shake..The amount of depravity in Nigeria is sickening & the funniest part is that we cloak it well well with spirituality, sounding off about morals.

The simple fact is that MANY nigerian males do not know what statutory ra pe is.They do not understand what ra pe is.If a lady is not screaming and fighting then they will never accept it's ra pe.If you wear short clothes - you are begging for it.If you walk alone at night, you will be blamed. If you have had se x before, you cannot be raped. It's amazing really!!

If people google stockholm syndrome- (A condition where a victim identifies with the perpetrator even to the extent of defending them),they will understand why she kept on going back.
This girl had no father figure and an absentee mother,it's not surprising that at 17 she would fall into the hands of a predator. At 17,she'd be in ss3 or a fresher in Uni.No guidance at all while a 25 year old grandpa preyed on her emotions, groomed her well well and introduced her to the world of perversion. In this kind of situation, being in love with such a man and suffering from low self esteem added to a dysfunctional home is a lethal combination. She'd be willing to do ANYTHING he asked for as long as he kept on assuring her of his love twisted as that sounds this sort of thing happens.People do not understand he psychological hold an abuser holds over their victim.

On the issue of morals i see the holy brigade rounded on her calling her a slut.Forgetting the useless man who was definitely looking to chop a fresh girl.A well brought up man would run away from a minor without looking back or at most advice her on her behaviour. In sane climes,a MINOR cannot give consent to s ex.The man would land in jail!!
What exaclty is it that makes her a slut? The fact that she had s ex and had the guts to talk about it to her supposed boyfy and send him nudes?
People who believe themselves to be in love do such things on the regular especially olodo females who don't know they should also be collecting the nudes of the guy as well complete with his face..
The people calling her slut are usually the most depraved oo,probably rubbing off to po rn,and visiting brothels but na them de shout pass.

Sacrilege if a woman enjoys se x.. Little wonder Naija females resort to saying they were ra ped as an excuse for not being virgins.SE x is enjoyable and no female should be ashamed of it.The sooner these loons realise it,the beter off we will all be.After all,is it goats and cows they are banging?

Not to even talk of the females who would rather die than speak up for a victim in such a situation but would rather throw stones on her and say she enjoyed being passed round like a rag.

Since 2007 this girls blog has been dark, talking about suicide, her experience with this guy, depression, hardly any form of happiness.I used to wonder how she was able to function with her psyche so damaged.I don't know if she can ever ive a normal life even after years and years of therapy.

I'm sure she feels like she's being ra ped again with all the vitriol being thrown her way.I hope she stays strong. The impunity with which people in power act is beyond belief and they will look you in the face and say you cannot do anything.Anyway,we have pedophiles& domestic abusers as senators and governors..What's left to say

Is it not this same Naija that mentally deranged women who roam around the streets get pregnant?Who is impregnating them?I laugh in Swahili!!

You've said it all..
Her blog had an effect on me such that, at the time, I read it top to bottom.
This, like I said before, is an anticlimax f me

@stillfire,

In a normal society, a 25 year old man having kinky. affairs with a 17 year old girl would have had his arse in jail by now. But we're in Nigeria... so her morals are to be judged. I mean, he could have waited till the following year and done as he pleased and whilst it would have been immoral, it would certainly not be illegal. But everyone is falling over themselves to defend. an illegal relationship.

It doesn't matter if. she rode to his office on a camel and offered herself wearing nothing but a Persian rug and had slept with the entire U-17 football team before then, the Nigerian Constitution says that it is illegal for an adult. male. to. take advantage of her stvpidity. He should have controlled himself till she was of legal age and therefore presumed to be adult enough to make that decision. But yeah, him breaking the law is not important, let's focus on her morals and her parenting.

Next time I see any thread in which someone rapes a minor, I shall certainly congratulate the accused. He's innocent until the underage minor can prove to us that she didn't deserve it. After all, a 10 year old in a spaghetti-strap top is clearly asking for "it" in Nigerian society. And just let me hear anyone hashtag #ChildNotBride, i'll insult them. We need. more 13 year old happily married women...

Thank you.
This country and d inherent hypocrisy simply disgusts me.

This comment quite exposes your ignorance on this issue. The legal age of consent in Nigeria is 18yrs,so dude had sex with a minor (read the child rights act 2003). Secondly, being in a relationship or having had prior consensual sex with someone does not mean one cannot be raped by a supposed lover.

This case, if pursued to conclusion will set a standard and serve as a deterrent to ignorant people like you who prey on young girls for sex.

Please give opinion on what you know and not write insensitive trash because you think you have an opinion.

This frankly is abuse of an opinion.
If this case goes the full length of the law, it'll really serve as a benchmark for the future.

To a lot of those commenting and heaping blames, if you haven't experienced it, you cannot understand the reasons for the 'stupid' decisions she took and also, how does that take away from the facts of the case

TonyeBarcanista:
N/B: Read The Article Before Commenting.

I have been following the story between Miss aka Sugabelly and Mustapha Audu, the son of the late Chief Abubakar Audu. I have watched the reaction of people especially madam Oby Ezekwesili and Hon Abike Dabiri, and I must say that their position on this matter is illogical, embarrassing and unfair to Mustapha Audu and humanity. Let us look at the issue @ hand.

THE MAJOR LIES IN @Sugarbelly's ALLEGATION:
Lie Number One: Audu Abubakar Was Not The Governor As At 2007/8:

Firstly, the so called accuser @Sugabelly alleged that the late Audu Abubakar condoned the 'ficticious' rape just because he was the Governor of Kogi state. This is very far from the truth because Audu Abubakar was elected Governor in 1998, and served between 1999 and May 29, 2003 when he was defeated by Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, who served from 2003 to 2011. He couldn't have used the office of Governor to condone rape when he wasn't the Governor then. In fact, he never ascended to the office after 2003 till his unfortunate demise.

Lie Number 2: False Claim of Friends Gang rape:
I had to read the email exchange between miss Sugabelly and Mustapha, on this said FB message, she was the one apologising to Mustapha Audu for FLIRTING with Audu's friend. From the tone of the message, one will see that Mustapha was the jealous type that got angry because Sugabelly was flirting with his friend. (See paragraph two of the screenshot)

So where does the gang rape story come from? How can a jealous BF allow his friends to have canal knowledge of his GF?

Lie Number 3: False Claim of Rape:
In one of the mails @Sugabelly sent to Mustapha, she was recounting their "sweet memories" and when you look at one of their memories, you will see that both of them had consensual romp and sex. In fact, she was excited recalling some hot memories...

She even talked about their crazy street sex that they had everynight at different streets...

See what she said after their first sex...

www.nairaland.com/attachments/3127447_img20151127235321_jpege980f22b08777db1add197931442a60e

@Sugabelly's Mum Was Aware of The Relationship:
While many erroneously assumed that Mustapha Audu took advantage of the Sugabelly of a character, the truth is that her mother was very much aware of their relationship. In the mail sent to Mustapha by Sugabelly, she made reference of her mom not being happy with Mustapha. Pls see...

Pray tell, was this a relationship or rape?

Mustapha DUMPED Her Because He Didn't Trust Her:
From one of her plea email for a comeback to Mustapha, the so-called rape victim even admitted that Mustapha didn't trust her, and was trying to appeal to his emotion for his trust. Maybe he was right not trusting her with her baseless allegation

Please, does relationship turn sour equate rape? Why victimise an innocent man that is mourning his father?

Concluding...
I put it to @Sugabelly that she was never raped but only trying to blackmail a man that she once loved after all her plea for a comeback failed.

I put it to Madam Oby Ezekwesilli and Hon Abike Dabiri that they are embarrassing to the HIGHEST order for taking a position without a holistic probe of the event. I put it to Oby that she's an hypocrite raised to power ten for knowing the truth and concealing it in order to blackmail an innocent man that is mourning the death of his father just because she's a friend to @Sugabelly's mother.

I am proud and happy to take the time and pains to put this up for the cause of defending an innocent man.

For the record, I wasn't paid nor hired to do this. My love for justice motivated me.

May God Bless All Sincere Nigerians and Lovers of Humanity

Same thought crossed my mind. A diplomatic faux pas
Ur courting the West on one hand and publicly meeting with someone like d Ayatollah, whose anti - Semitic, anti- western sentiment is well known, at a time wen any semblance of extremism is generally frowned upon

It's always bin presumptive n naive of d new government to expect full cooperation from them even with the previous experiences.
