Do what better? Oh please. I doubt you live in Nigeria. The avoidable deaths in Nigeria is really alarming. There's a reason rich nigerians go abroad for treatment. Just go to a general teaching hospital & see firsthand how the lives of poor patients are made to seem worthless. Never heard of striking doctors, but we all know how Nigeria models for adidas 'Impossible is Nothing' in Nigeria.
Had t reply dis. 1)The avoidable deaths u talked of in most cases r Not d fault of d health professionals. Patients here go to d hospital only as a last resort, after doing d self medication-chemist - nurse- church rounds. up to 75% of women still go t maternity homes t deliver only presenting wen problems arise. Not saying all drs r excellent but, lets b fair. 2) the human body is d primary tool of all Drs. the ability t understand d workings will t a large extent det ur effectiveness in diagnosis n treatment. technology here is actually not that much of an advantage. Wahala sit down jeje now, you say "e beautiful wella wella" ....okay o, l don talk my own!

Growing up (my teens) my friends and l did some research and came out with an "hypothesis" which we christened "Deebee hypothesis" (in simple Grammar, it means "reach there"wink.

We postulated that "Once Deebee, ALWAYS Deebee" (For my Turanshi brothers, l will translate: "Once you reach there, you will ALWAYS reach there"wink

May the Good Lord forgive us, we were badt, very very badt, in those days!

It means that "once a guy has 'reached there' with a lady, He will always 'reach there' any time any day he wants"!

The data that we collected and analysed over our "Youth Years" proved our hypothesis to be correct and reliable to 99.99% confidence level! Walahi!

That "Corper" has "Deebee" and whether your friend marry her or not, He can and He will ALWAYS Deebeee!

I ve personally had a funny experience.saw a newly married couple n d wife was said t be 2months pregnant but went I checked she was more than that. tried confirming discreetly from her n even did a scan t confirm but she was adamant, had t drop it in order not t brk up a new marriage.
My take is this, due t d state of d world we live in, paternity tests are necessary f some, but it implies distrust, so in order t keep d peace either do it secretly or let it be by mutual consent. bearing in mind that if she passes, she shld never know wat u did.. cool
This is exactly why you are lacking behind. Book Book Book. You think you are so smart abi? One simple question- What have you done with your "smartness" to help humanity. I do not mean stuff you were taught in school or all the nonsense you "cramed". What have you invented with this supposed knowledge. The oyinbos that you claim are dull keep churning out technological advancements and here you are talking nonsense. There is no pride in repeating what you "cramed" in an exam. The only pride is when you are able to take knowlege you learnt "from the same oyinbo books" and then use it to produce "new, unexplored knowledge". Its like priding yourself that you know mathematics better than oyinbos as if the maths crept into your brain from your mothers womb. How about you use that math to invent a calculator? OOps that has already been done. All you know how to do is read books and poor it out in exams and you call that an achievement. You wasted time going to school. Go and learn a trade.
no wonder dey said d average Nigerians I.Q is<60,not surprised wit d nonsense u just wrote. so now theory is inconsequential. is it d machines dat will operate on u or take ur history? Aqva: Crap. How can a med student in UI or Unilorin be better than a John Hopkins trained doc? I'm sure the failures are those trained in substandard schools in developing countries. I'm not saying Naija doctors are not good but they are light yrs behind in terms of technology and diagnosis.

Actually Naija doctors are only conversant with the basic illnesses, malaria, high bp, SCD, asthma etc. Go and watch Medical Diagnosis on Discovery Channel and then u will understand what it means to be a doctor in a developed nation.
ignorance is a terrible thing. fyi any doctor worth his salt shld be able t come up with several(differential) diagnosis from d history n physical exam alone. the tech (investigation) usually is t confirm ur diagnosis. medicine has n always be dependant on a doctors diagnostic acumen not technology.

Shollypopz: hhmm, I'm very calm. I don't think my post showed any form of agitation.

That aside, when u make comparison next time, make sure u do it on an average sense/scale.
U can't take the achievement of one student(an abnormally) and say because he did this, then bla bla..........

I'm very patriotic to my country Nigeria but comparing med schools in Nigeria to those in the US is quite alarming. Shows u have no clue what u're talking about. I don't mean to exaggerate the importance of ranking but when we as a country are that down on the list then there has to be some truth to it.

I mean we are not among top 3000, 3000!! 3000 my brother!! 3000!!

And of course, I'm not basing all my claims solely on ranking but when we look at the products and what US trained doctors can do practically, we don't even come close. The facilities available, the genuine critical reasoning, abstract and real life instances based exam questions?

As a Nigerian, I'm sure u don't want me to over flog the issue that we're all theory and no practical.
am sorry but I ve t disagree, tho wit a lil bias grin. ve come across both d u.k Drs n dse from oda developed countries n frankly dey aren't all that. imagine how long it takes t make a diagnosis there compared t here n also d quality of thier training. Yes, in terms of tech advancement n facilities dey beta but let me summarise by saying wat we do,we do dem far better..Truth cool

stpat1: My fiancee snubs for hours and sometimes for days after a disagreement. It take a lot of talking and coercing from me to bring her out of that mood. Even if the problem is from her, it will take while before she realises it and apologise.

Is this normal? Or am I too blind to see something? Will it be unreasonable to call off a wedding which is in 4 months time? I love her and have known her for 8 years now but its a habit I've always detested.

I really don't know the action to take now. Please your adulterated candid opinion is wanted. Pour it out and tell me what you'd do if you were in my shoes. Lash me I won't get mad at you. Lol
I think the difference for me is that I dont see the big deal..

The plane does not belong to the Man but to the State.. 5 More of these Jets and we can start a State owned Airline..

He has really worked in Rivers State and I am proud of his achievements in the last 6 years.

If this is the worst thing he does as a governor, then I am fine with it.. Odili who did nothing for Rivers State and yet bought three aircrafts nko?! Even the flyover he managed to build has collapsed..

Again, I dont see this as such a bad thing.. Just my opinion..
It really pisses me off wen people make statements like dis. I reside in d state, grew up here. Amaechi's govt has been characterized by colossal wastage. is it d road contracts he keeps re-awarding t his cronies, is it d waste of health resources in building 150 health centres against medical n professional advice. Hlth centres dat he doesn't ve d manpower or resources t sustain. is it d old upth structure he demolished f no reason. is it d billions bin wasted on d grter ph city went d lesser ph is nothing t write home abt , or d 45 billion spent so far on d 4-6km of d mono rail project wen most of d roads in d state r in a bad shape. There is no justification f dis purchase. hire a private jet as ekt bear suggested if he was in need of such luxury. I foresee other govs following suit. It'll soon become d new fad

Abagworo: You insult me for making my views known, who then is the tout here? My challenge is still open to you Amaechi haters. Amaechi has done more in everything than all the past Rivers State Governors combined( From 1967 to 2007). That's 40 years against 5. Let us compare in length of roads constructed, primary and secondary schools, health care centres, traffic orderliness(TIMARIV).

The bad roads in Port Harcourt are Woji, Iwofe(under construction), Elelenwo and East-West road. This government has reconstructed Azikiwe road, Station road and most roads inside old Port Harcourt town and changing them to underground drainage with walkways. Same with Trans-Amadi and Amadi-Abuloma area. The entire GRA is under reconstruction with underground drainage and walkways too. Tell me what this man will do that will be enough. Let's not forget Okporo road(Rumuodara), Oginigba,Rumuomasi, Rumuobiokani axis. Can you recall how Rumuola road used to be? What of the kind of flooding at NTA road(Around redeemed Church) in the past. There's ongoing construction of a dual link road from Ozuoba to Ogbogoro.
I am not supporting the extravagant lifestyle of our governors, but the way some fools are trash talking Rivers State is alarming. Can you all mention the names of your respective states so we can compare with Rivers State? Outside of Lagos State, which other Nigerian city is as developed as Port Harcourt? Someone said he spent 2 weeks in Rivers state and enjoyed only few hours of electricity? Which village is that? Thats what you get when you live in the ghetto... My own part of PHC i have standard road networks and we enjoy minimum 18 hours of power daily, sometimes the electricity lasts 3 days non stop...

I live in PHC, but someone comes from outside the state, spends 2 weeks in Port Harcourt and automatically he now knows PHC more than everyone else.

I must admit, Amaechi did wonders during his first term, and he is very slow now, but he is far ahead of most of your state governors hands down. What Amaechi achieved in the educational sector no other state governor can achieve in 8 years. Primary and secondary schools in River state are far more advanced and more equipped than many of your state universities, this is no joke. All over Rivers state, he built state of the art health centers.

If you are wondering what Amaechi is doing now, then take a trip to the GREATER PORT HARCOURT CITY. Thats where I built my house and that's where all the mega projects are going on. The World class hospital, world class roads, the best stadium in Nigeria, the Rivers state university of science and technology etc are at advanced stages of construction. There are too numerous projects in the GPHC to mention here. You either pay a visit to confirm, or you Google it.

Rivers state does not need this private jet, I am not from Rivers, I am not singing anyone praises, but I say things the way they are. From the way people are talking shiit here a stranger will assume PHC is a kinda shit hole. They should start by telling us what their own state governors have done better than Amechi. Akpabio should build the kind of world class schools in rivers bc that is what the poor masses need, not some Tropicana resorts and 5 star hotels that are for the rich only.
I laff in Ogbia. Abeg leave propaganda aside. I am currently at work in d Standard hospital n dre's no IVF (drips ) f patients t buy. the health centres are in a worse state. the Standard schools are failing,u need t hear d teachers complain. THERE ARE NO ROADS in Ph except at Odili road area n oginigba. electricity is messed up in most of d state, d state is a joke. There Was Nothing that was done that is sustainable. Greater Port Harcourt city project is just a pipe dream. Go now n see f urself,a friend works dre. lets not even talk abt d Mono Rail bizness, dats f anoda thread. THERE'S /WAS NOTHING SPECIAL ABT AMAECHI. Am not hating,am tired n vexing..
