VintageCocktail:The SS people have already spoken in unison against Biafra. They did so very recently when representatives from all the SS ethnic nationalities (Urhobos, Binis, Ogojas, itshekiris, Ijawa, Esans, Aniomas, Efiks, Ikwerres, Ibibios, Ogonis, etc) rose from an emergency meeting and told IPOB to limit their agitation to the five SE states and warned that not an inch of their land will be ceded to Biafra. What greater evidence than this do you want that the SS is united in rejection of Biafranization of their land? The various tribes have all spoken for themselves and rejected Biafra. So why still claiming some of them are possibly pro-Biafra? |
VintageCocktail:The SS people have no problem with one another. Over time they have come to see themselves as one and the same people not necessarily because they are the same tribe but because they share the same spirit of mutual love and respect, tolerance for one another, live and let live attitude, non-domineering spirit, etc. Whenever I as a SS person meets another SS person from a state different from mine we just begin to flow in mutual respect and understanding as if we knew each other before then. But when I meet SE Igbos it is never the same experience. Americans are of different races but have over time come to accept one another due to shared value systems and political philosophy, hence an Irish American can speak for the rest of Americans despite differences of origin. Same with the SS now. An Urhobo, Ogoja, itshekiri, etc can speak for any other SS tribe. It is just like how the former Bendelites were of diverse ethnicities yet had the same attitude, same value systems, etc. |
lielbree:Exactly my point! Agreed that one Nigeria is a huge fraud. But a Biafra with SS in it will be a huger fraud in which the SS tribes will be totally subdued and quietened. That is why if we can't have a separate SS country without Igbos in it, then we stick to one Nigeria. After all an Igbo man, Zik, invented the "One Nigeria" rubbish at a time it was clear to even the blind that Nigeria was not one and could never become one in 100 years to come. |
lielbree:They'll soon call you a miserable Yoruba man claiming to be from Rivers State. Just watch and you'll say I told you. They have been calling me too a Yoruba man for disagreeing with the inclusion of SS in Biafra. |
Biafraandpeace:You obviously missed it when all the SS ethnic nationalities representatives recently rose from an emergency meeting and openly dissociated themselves from Biafra. In fact they all unanimously warned IPOB to limit their agitations to the five SE states. Even the Aniomas' representative made it clear that Anioma land has never been part of Biafra but has always been part of Western Region, Midwestern Region, Bendel State and now Delta State. Ifeanyi Okowa towed same line. Even Governor Wike, whom one expected to Identify with Biafra by virtue of his Ikwerre origin, recently banned pro-Biafra demonstrations in Rivers State. That the SS identified with the SE for supporting GEJ does not automatically translate to identifying with the Biafra thing. The SS nurses genuine fears of Igbo domination in that proposed Biafra Republic. But rather than Igbos addressing these fears in concrete and unequivocal terms they label as Yoruba any SS person who honestly expresses these fears. |
Deen77:I wonder O! Why must Biafra always seek to glue itself to Niger Delta? Why can't Niger Delta be free to be on its own the way Isaac Adaka Boro conceived of it on Feb. 23 1966? |
tarekamos:Each time I hear that a Yoruba man prevented Jonathan from making another Yoruba man speaker I laugh at that level of distortion of facts. After GEJ visited Tinubu twice in Lagos to enlist his support for his victory in 2011 elections, Jonathan decided to make an Obasanjo loyalist speaker despite knowing fully well that Tinubu and OBJ would not see eye to eye. It was even GEJ that betrayed Tinubu for enjoying Tinubu's immense support to victory and then turning around to give a sensitive SW position to a loyalist of Tinubu's enemy. Had GEJ been grateful enough to give the speakership to a Yoruba loyalist of Tinubu within the PDP, the issue of Tinubu using Tambuwal to crush GEJ's plan would not have arisen. Were you people expecting Tinubu to, after working for GEJ's victory in 2011, fold his arms and watch GEJ use that victory to empower a loyalist of his arch enemy (OBJ)? Who of us will be in Tinubu's shoes and act differently? Be honest! |
tarekamos:Well, contrary to your claim the SS did not really benefit anything concrete from GEJ's regime just as your own SW suffered most under OBJ's regime. We know that even though OBJ's regime had Yorubas like FFK, Aborishade, Tafa Balogun, in sensitive appointments, Yorubas did not count it as a favour from OBJ's regime as OBJ did nothing to address and in fact he even thwarted all attempts made towards the most fundamental demand of the Yorubas which was and is still a genuine SNC aimed at re-structuring. I therefore wonder why a Yoruba like you (who rightly believed that OBJ failed Yorubas by his refusal to address the fundamental pan-Yoruba demand for an SNC despite his appointment of Yorubas into high places) would come here to claim GEJ favoured the SS by giving them positions and ignoring the most fundamental and pan-SS demand of restructuring towards resource control. Why the double standards? Una think say una smart? The real SS concern was and still is the economic emancipation of the region which GEJ did not address or make any attempt to. The genuine South-South problem is about a restructuring that would return true federalism and resource control as it was between 1960 and 1966 before Ironsi tampered with it and Gowon aggravated it to full scale. Did Jonathan ever act like someone who was worried and pained by the fact that the current 13% oil derivation for the SS contrasts too sharply with the 75% agricultural revenues derivation which the defunct Northern, Western and Eastern Regions once enjoyed until Ironsi and Gowon came to destroy that structure when it was just time for the SS regions of today too to start enjoying 75% derivation of their own God given oil revenue? So why claim GEJ's regime favoured the SS? |
After reading as much of the political history of Nigeria as is available to me, I came to the conclusion that the Northerners are almost blameless as regards this amalgamation. Ahmadu Bello, the foremost leader the North ever had, did not miss any opportunity to declare his disbelief in amalgamation let alone "One Nigeria". His interview currently on youtube makes me respect him as he was very blunt and honest about his position on this fraud called "one-Nigeria". He obviously knew there was no possible way a Muslim North could peacefully coexist with a Christian South. In fact he described the amalgamation as the mistake of 1914 from his honest and realistic perspective. But unfortunately some dreamers from the Christian South kept on stupidly believing they could form a country with the Muslim North despite they themselves were aware back then and hearing of war within 100% Islamic countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, etc meaning that different sects of the same religion (Islam) could not peacefully co-exist in those countries. What made those stupid and silly Southern politicians believe back then that a "one Nigeria" between the Christian South and Muslim North was attainable when different Muslim sects within the same Asian countries could not achieve oneness still remains a puzzle to me. But sometimes I am tempted to believe that these Southern politicians too were not allowing the North go because they were eyeing the huge groundnut revenue of the North just as the North too is eyeing currently eyeing the oil revenue of the South and refusing to let go as well. If our stupid political foreberers had just been disciplined and contented enough with their own cocoa and oil palm thus allowed the North go with their own groundnut and Islam as they preferred back then, we would not have been in this mess by now. I also read it that it got to a point when the North even declared it was not ready for independence and added that the South was free to go ahead without them, but that Zik decided to 'sacrifice' to have the South wait till they became ready while Awolowo too agreed with Zik. With all I have so far read I am of the opinion that we southerners actually first sought to parasitize on the North and when it failed and bomeranged on us we started complaining and calling them parasites. |
sleepingTROUBLE:So it now takes supporting Biafra to become a true son of SS soil? According to your warped logic if a Yoruba or Hausa man pretends to support Biafra and Igbo greed he automatically qualifies as a SS person notwithstanding the fact that he was actually born Hausa or Yoruba? Your assumptions betray your crass ignorance of the fact that some SS tribes like the Ogonis have a strong aversion for Igbos. So Ogonis are Yorubas by virtue of that aversion? So even Emmanuel Okowa, the Anioma man who recently dissociated himself and the entire Anioma land from Biafra, is as well a Yoruba man? The Ogojas, Itsekiris, Ijaws, Urhobos, Ikweres, etc who recently rose from a SS summit to dissociate their ancestral lands from Biafra have all become Yorubas pretending to be from the SS? Even Nyesom Wike who recently banned pro-Biafra demonstrations in the whole of Rivers State has become a Yoruba man for doing such? Your self-delusional logic stinks. You are simply suffering from the pains of frustration in pursuit of looking for appendages to Biafra. I am happy no single SS tribe fell for that bait as they unanimously rose in rejection of Biafra. Keep on with your Yorubanization theory for any SS person who questions Igbo attitude. By the time you realize your folly it will have been too late just the way it was too late as at when Zik and Ojukwu realized Nigeria could never really be one, hence the massacre of millions of innocent Igbos. They say once beaten twice shy. But I am afraid you'll be twice beaten. |
charliboy654:Don't mind those fools who delude themselves into believing that whoever sees through their duplicity and frowns at their greed and their I-am-smarter-than-others attitude is automatically a Yoruba man pretending to be from the SS. So daft and irritating set of people. They claim they know when a true SS person speaks, however if a Yoruba man feigns SS or even SE and pretends to support Biafra they easily fall for the trick and begin to hail him as a true son of their soil. And with this useless attitude of theirs towards the SS they want the SS to join them in Biafra. If, for maintaining their own independent opinion, the SS people are already being blackmailed with the Yoruba identity by Igbos, then one wonders how terrible it will be if we agree with them to go into that ill-fated Biafra. We will be hounded to death in a Nazi-like manner for holding any divergent opinion in that Biafra Republic. The indications are here before us that we will under a bigger captivity in Biafra. If, to an Igbo man, the attitude of supporting Biafra and Igbo greed has become a greater evidence of SS origin than the fact of actually being from the SS by birth, then it shows there is no natural logic Igbos can't turn on its head. |
sleepingTROUBLE:I am also not from the Middle-Belt but actually belong to the classification in which the tribe of the very Isaac Adaka Boro I mentioned falls today in Nigeria. If you were not as stupid as you just displayed you would have known that the 'ZO' component of WAZOBIA concept includes the entire Monolithic North which the Middle-Belt is part of by virtue of the fact that they all understand and speak Hausa as their Lingua Franca, hence I could not have been denying WAZOBIA if I were from the Middle-Belt as you illogically reasoned. And who told you the Southern minorities, now SS, are your brothers? You can't be talking of someone trying to divide you against a people with whom you were never really united but sought to subdue completely until Nigeria granted them their own separate existence free from your captivity. They were your brothers yet you denied them of their desired COR Region. They were your brothers yet they all recently spoke up and warned you to exclude them from your Biafra Republic. The fact that Igbos are the only Nigerians still left in this attitude of always seeking and forcefully claiming brotherhood with others places a huge moral question on their intention. After Edo/Delta decided to free themselves of Yoruba domination and Identity, Yorubas have left them alone and never again forcefully called them their brothers. Ever since the middle Belters started propagating the Middle Belt identity and consciousness the Core North has left them off the hook and hardly refer to them as their brothers anymore. But the Eastern minorities pleas to Igbos to let them be on their own identity and separate existence has fallen of deaf ears of Igbos. Why? And the same people who can't allow others claim their own right to a separate identity are ironically asking to be free from Nigeria. I laugh. Is brotherhood by force or by consent? When it is convenient for Igbos they claim the SS is not a tribe but a conglomeration of diverse ethnicities. But at other times they claim the SS people are their brothers and cousins. How can you be cousins to over 100 different ethnicities at the same time? It is like a German claiming the Englishman, the Spaniard, the Indian, the Chinese, etc are all his blood brothers and cousins all at the same time. That would be an obviously very fraudulent claim. Why did all the SS tribes recently come out and rejected and denounced Igbos' subtle attempt to incorporate them into Biafra? I no be your brother, na by force? So you knew Nigeria was a mistake yet you labelled Ahmadu Bello a tribalist for maintaining the same position in 1945? You may claim you realized so only recently. But then it shows the so-called uneducated Aboki had the foresight to see ahead what the self acclaimed educated Igbos and their 'highly educated Zik' could not see but only to later realize same through hindsight after more than 70 years. Literacy is not same as education. |
sleepingTROUBLE:I thought you were going to use superior arguements to dispute the facts I raised. All I can see in you is the usual Igbo disease of assuming that whoever frowns at their dubious style of politicking is a Yoruba person. FYI I am not a yoruba person and I don't speak the language. I rarely understand what they say. So also I don't understand Igbo. In fact I am not of any of the WAZOBIA tribes and that gives me the neutrality of an open mind which plainly tells me Igbos have done more than every other tribe in the ruination of Nigeria. Igbos crushed Isaac Adaka Boro's declaration of the Niger Delta Republic but now seek the same secession as a panacea to their sorry state in Nigeria. What a bunch of hypocrites! Those who deny others freedom don't deserve it themselves.........Abraham Lincoln. |
sleepingTROUBLE:There are a lot of people I did not include directly but implicitly by the expression "all others who realistically maintained........." The "tortoise" is included there. However I am at loss as to why it is only the "tortoise" you noticed among many others I did not mention. That betrays obsession of some sort. However, the mention or not of the "tortoise" does not change the fact that Zik and Igbos saw it clearly that Nigeria was not one and in fact all evidences pointed to the contrary but they pretended not to see it and therefore introduced the one Nigeria sloganeering. Did such pretence not also qualify Zik and indeed Igbos as tortoises too? When you point a finger four others point back at you. Moreover, your reasons for terming someone a tortoise have all been punctured by superior logic here. If you care to know you can state those reasons again and I will give you the superior arguements that rubbish and make nonsense of those claims. Zik was actually the one and only tortoise in the Nigeria's history story. I can tell you many reasons why if you don't mind knowing. For the fact that Igbos remain the most ubiquitous tribe in Nigeria it naturally follows that Boko Haram has killed more of Igbos than any other non-Northern tribe. And I guess you rather should be worried about the massacre of Igbos that started in the North far before independence and Zik never rose to condemn those killings but even entering an alliance with the North thereby exhibiting his tortoiselike attitude. On the issue of APC you mentioned: I give Igbos just ten years from now to hijack it and start calling it the Igbo party the way they hijacked NCNC from the Yoruba founders and later igbonize it, and also the same manner they hijacked PDP from its original Katsina Mafia founders of PDM and later re-christened it the Igbo/SS party while abandoning and in fact deliberately suffocating their own APGA formed for them by their hero Ojukwu. APC will soon become Igbos' darling party as history has a way of repeating itself. |
“How can I encourage my people to work towards the upbringing of Nigeria, when we don’t hear the same language, we don’t eat the same food, we don’t have the same culture, in fact if I come to their land to practice my culture.. I will be beheaded. Their women wear hi-jab, and Biafran women don’t, and on the point that our women don’t wear hi-jab, they will be seen as infidels, and on that note will be beheaded. We are 100 % Christian. This people are Muslims who see killing as a culture.. From where I came from, it hard for my people to kill a human being, because in my language human being is called Mmadu which means the beauty of life, now you see it will never work, the only solution is Biafra.”[/quote]By assuming but not conceeding that all the above claims are true, one is left wondering why Zik and Igbos knew all the above facts about the cultural and religious differences between the different tribes of Nigeria coupled with the fact that we were unduly amalgamated yet they (Igbos led by Zik) invented the "One-Nigeria" slogan and kept on chanting it and labelling themselves as nationalists for advocating an unrealistic "oneness" while labelling as tribalists all others who realistically maintained that Nigeria was not one and could never become one. One also wonders why Nnamdi Kanu has never been honest enough to admit that Zik and Igbo politicians of old contributed the lion share to the thwarting of every attempt to make Nigeria a federation so loose to make secession possible and easy. If all other Nigerians' cultures permit killing while only the Igbo culture abhors it as Nnamdi Kanu implies, then one wonders why Igbos knew that already but started preaching one Nigeria meaning they wanted oneness between themselves who don't kill and other tribes which kill. Some things aren't just adding up. Zik is reported to have even once met Ahmadu Bello and said, 'Let us ignore our cultural differences and unite to move forward" and that Ahmadu Bello replied saying, "No, no, no, people don't move forward by ignoring differences or else you'll cause bloodshed. People move forward by understanding and respecting one another's differences. You see I am a muslim from the North while you are a christian from the South. It is only when we understand, accept and respect these differences about each other that we will really be able to build a strong, united and prosperous nation". Ahmadu Bello was very correct while Zik was fucking wrong as posterity has shown today. But now that Nnamdi Kanu seems to be towing Ahmadu Bello's line one wonders why he is finding it difficult to acknowledge that Nnamdi Azikiwe and Igbos actively sought after and successfully put Igbos and indeed all Nigerians in this retrogressive oneness. |
I will collect it, vote for him and enjoy the cash because I know he can't carry out any of his threats eventually as he will need approval of the Congress which he will not really get. |
It is now clear that you have no answer to the moral questions I posed before you and hence your repetition of the same invectives. You claim others are afraid of being together with Hausa Fulanis without Igbos as if it was not even Igbos that feared and felt the South could not exist alone without Hausa-Fulanis hence Zik and his Igbo followers continued to forcefully glue the rest of the South to Hausa-Fulanis by declaring that Igbos were ready to sacrifice their own independence and wait till the North became ready. Very daft people! Did you not know that the North was Arewanistan Republic when you decided to sacrifice your own freedom till they were ready for independence? A sacrifice is a self denial leading to a permanent loss whose consequences must be borne however inconvenient it might be. So if Zik claimed he had sacrificed your freedom to keep the north and South together perpetually, then why are you still looking for that 'freedom'? Or don't you know what it means to sacrifice something? When you were sacrificing and sacrificing blindly for the same people you now call Arewanistan you rejected every warning and wise counsel against that in the name of your fraudulent "one Nigeria". You even went as far as forming an unholy alliance between your stolen NCNC and the NPC of Arewanistan. You once sought one Nigeria with Arewanistan and now you are afraid of Arewanistan because your plot to subdue and lord it over Arewanistan failed woefully. Now your sacrifices have failed woefully and are in vain, but you want to blame others for your bad market. Biafra failed in 1967 and it will always fail. On your own One Nigeria we now stand. I have no further time to spare let alone sacrifice for a commentator who does not address issues raised but keeps repeating invectives like a damaged compact disc. Until you tell us what justifies Igbos' seeking of Biafra after they themselves frustrated Isaac Boro's quest for Niger Delta Republic you remain a fool and hypocrite. |
08xtr3r:I am new here and I don't belong to the admin. Your handle was banned obviously because of your penchant to avoid addressing issues raised but resorting to invectives and insults. As usual, you have made off the mark comments that addressed no single one of issues I raised. I however don't really expect you to dispute the facts that Igbos were the first to hold others back from seeking a separate existence (Isaac Boro's/Ijaws' Niger Delta Republic). You also have refused to tell us why Ironsi and Ojukwu the chief secessionist refuse to seek secession when he and his brother were still in power and therefore needed no Aburi Accord to do have that done. Biafra will never materialize because you people lack the moral basis to seek separation after earlier frustrating every other tribe's attempt to separate from Nigeria. The spirit of Isaac Adaka Boro will continue to haunt Biafra actualization until you all apologize to Ijaws. Useless hypocrites. NCNC was formed by a Yoruba man, Macaulay, who handed it over to Zik an Igbo man. But instead of Zik to chose another tribe as his deputy to reflect the nationalist outlook of the party and to reciprocate Herbert Macaulay's detribalized gesture he chose Michael Okpara, an Igbo man like himself, and the NCNC began to unravel on account of that very first move by Zik to convert it to an Igbo party. They are the most tribalistic yet they are the quickest to accuse others of same. They could not form their own party but stole NCNC, a party founded by Yorubas in their own land, and took it to the East and made it to become an Igbo party. The same way PDP was formed from PDM by Hausas in Katsina and the same Igbos stole it again to their region and now calling PDP an Igbo party while killing the APGA formed by their own hero and leader Ojukwu. Such a shameless set of people always going to steal political structures from other people's lands and claiming it as theirs. Morally bankrupt people! Igbos have been stealing other people's parties since 1944! When will they be tired of this? They'll soon steal APC again even though they pretend to presently hate that party. Just give them 10 years from now. If SLS had not attended an almajiri school he would have read it somewhere that the first unconstitutional attempt to take over power was by the Zik-Tafawa Balewa coalition government which, in pursuit of born-to-rule belief, reinstated Akintola without election as stipulated by the Western Region's constitution then. Awolowo's coup was just in response to that as a self help mechanism. Nearly every Southerner (Yoruba, Igbo and SS, and even some Middle-Belters) have come to agree that the North's born to rule philosophy was the remotest and most responsible reason for the disunity and divisions in Nigeria. It is believed that the Born to rule philosophy initiated by Ahmadu Bello was anti-democratic and sowed the real seeds for power tussle between the North and South. Ahmadu Bello's and Tafawa Balewa repeated rigging of 1962 and 1963 censuses and 1964/65 elections sparked off the second part of the first Republic's crisis which precipitated the Nzeogwu's coup. That fraudulent census' results is what has been used till today to give Igbos 5 states while the NW and NC have 7 each. The same explains how Kano got 44 LGAs while a more populated Lagos and Anambra each have 20 LGAs. Now SLS made an analysis in which he laid all the blames of Nigeria's disunity at the doorstep of every other tribe without reserving a single blame for Ahmadu Bello and his own brothers who invented born-to-rule, and unfortunately an Igbo man is here referencing that analysis to establish his opinion. That's the height of shallow mindedness. Only a rabid desire and a bitterness stricken heart blinded by ethnic rivalry mindset will make a person to be so thoughtless and blind to make reference to SLS' selfish and dishonest analysis that gave his own Northern born-to-rule brothers a clean bill of health as regards Nigeria's problems. It is utterly shameful and self contradictory for an Igbo man to rely on SLS's analysis which lays no single blame on the Ahmadu Bello who insulted Igbos and accused them of domineering attitude and monopolization mindset as recorded on youtube today. Well Igbos' referencing of such an analysis might even mean that they themselves agree that Ahmadu Bello was correct about them, hence justifying their own massacres in the North. |
Igbos were the first to collude with the North when Zik blindly and foolishly aligned his party NCNC with the North's conservative NPC to form the coalition government of 1960. The same Zik decided to have the South delay independence until the North was ready to join Nigeria. So why do Igbos of today try to make it look as if partnering with the North is a sin? Hypocrites! By the way what stopped Ojukwu and Ironsi from declaring Biafra Republic while ironsi was still in power and even the North was ready for secession right then? Why did the same Ojukwu refuse to impress it upon Ironsi to restructure Nigeria as a loose confederacy or that Igbos even seceed all together as it would not have caused any single blood shed then? Igbos had already been massacred in thousands in the North in 1945, 1953 and May 1966 right under Ironsi's nose yet they refused to seek a loose confederacy or declare secession just because power was still in their hands. But immediately Ironsi, their brother, was removed from power the same people began to ask for confederation and secession just like how they kept chanting "GEJ till 2019, One Naija for life" and immediately Jonathan was removed from power they began to chant "On Biafra we stand". Inconsistent thieves! Aburi Accord ko, Aburi Toyota ni! |
08xtr8r:The usual Igbo disease of assuming everyone who is against their greedy and wicked ways is a Yoruba person. Did I say Igbos reneged on any 1957 agreement or that they rejected the 1957 secession clause proposal? Do renege and reject mean the same thing? Which school did you attend? Your own list shows that Awolowo and Enahoro did not attend the Aburi meeting? So why have you been accusing them of reneging on the Aburi Agreement knowing fully well they were never party of the agreement in the first instance? Oh sorry I have forgotten that renege, reject and even absence at meeting have the same meaning to you. Rather than address the issues I raised you ignored them and deviated into your usual propaganda and lies seeking to vindicate Igbos. You claim to be educated on Nigeria's history yet you don't know of the London constitutional conference of 1957 at which the AG, NCNC and NPC all made their positions known over the kind of constitution they each wanted and that where AG and NPC asked for a loose confederation, the NCNC of Igbos criticized them and Zik the NCNC leader vehemently rejected any suggestion of secession clause. Go back and google the London 1957 conference, Mr. Ignoramus. The mere fact that Igbos invented "One Nigeria" at a time both Yorubas and Hausas described Nigeria as a mere geographical expression and the mistake of 1914 respectively should have been a logical evidence to you that Igbos never initially wanted a loose confederation but preferred unitary system with an overwhelmingly strong centre and weak regions hence their "one-Nigeria" slogan. Go and read Zik's write ups and you'll see unitary system and anti secession ideas running through all of them. Why did you not address Isaac Boro's issue I raised? If after preventing another tribe from seeking their own country Igbos too later wanted to seek their own country, then that was shameless hypocrisy which Nigeria rightly did not tolerate. Igbos invented used one Nigeria to force unitary system on us which has caused bad governance, treasury looting, do or die elections, loopsided and unjust revenue allocation, etc and immediately the bad effects of their unitary one Nigeria began to boomerang they wanted to quickly get out of Nigeria in order to escape the effect of unitary system they introduced while others should remain behind to suffer it. Thieves! After causing problem they wanted to run away. Did they think they were smarter than other tribes? All the other tribes rightly held them back so that we all "enjoy" the consequences of their unitary system and one Nigeria. They go nowhere! We must all be in Zik's one Nigeria for better for worse. As long as Igbos crushed Isaac Boro's/Ijaws' Niger Delta Republic then God revenged by crushing their own Biafra too. Equation balanced! Those who deny others freedom don't deserve it themselves.............................Abraham Lincoln. |
Igbos, under Zik's leadership, told us federalism was bad and that unitary system was the best for us as it would make Nigeria "one". They went ahead to seek for one Nigeria by dismantling our federalism. Now their own solution is hurting them and they are complaining. Why are they refusing to swallow the bitter pill they themselves prescribed as the medicine for a common disease? |
08xtr8r:So Igbos knew OBJ promulgated the wicked land use decree in 1976 to punish the minorities by way of denying them their economic rights and yet Igbos still colluded with Hausas to vote massively for the same OBJ about 23 years later (1999) to come and further pursue his wickedness against minorities? Now the same Igbos are complaining that OBj is a Yoruba man who refused to repeal the evil laws he made to favour Northerners. What an interesting Irony! What does that sincerely say of Igbos? When Igbos themselves were busy chanting "one Nigeria" while blindly colluding with Hausas to vote for OBJ in 1999 were they expecting him to come and repeal the evil laws he had already made in collusion with the same Hausas? Is there any sense in such? Please answer this question with a sense of honesty. If Ironsi did not dismantle federalism then what exactly was the meaning of his decree 34? If Ironsi did not abolish federalism then why did Gowon find it necessary to promulgate his own decree 56 which reversed Ironsi's decree 34 and returned Nigeria to the status quo ante? If Ironsi did not abolish federalism then why did he (Ironsi) remove the word 'federal' from Nigeria's official name to become just "Republic of Nigeria" rather than the previous "Federal Republic of Nigeria"? The name Republic of Nigeria meant the federating units had ceased to exist. Gowon actually restored the regions and operated them for 11 months before Ojukwu pushed him into using the 12 states split as a strategy to weaken Igbos. When Isaac Adaka Boro declared the Niger Delta Republic on Feb. 23 1966 and the same Ojukwu (who was still in power together with Ironsi and still loving one Nigeria) was used by Ironsi to frustrate Isaac Boro by killing 50% of his soldiers, were you expecting Gowon too, who later came to power, to fold his arms and watch the same Ojukwu declare Biafra and go free after he himself (Ojukwu) had earlier crushed another man's secession attempt? When Awolowo and Enahoro proposed a loose confederation and secession clause in the 1957 London constitutional conference and the Igbos rejected it under Zik's counsel claiming that secession was inimical to one-Nigeria and then labelled Awo and Enahoro as tribalists who wanted Oduduwa Republic, were you expecting the same Awo and Enahoro to later support the same Igbos to push for the actualization of Aburi accord which aimed to foster the same loose confederation Igbos earlier mocked them for? Where you expecting Awo to support Igbos' bloody/war quest for Biafra Republic after Igbos had mocked him for seeking a constitutional clause that would have made his own Oduduwa Republic possible constitutionally without blood shed? You Igbos are jokers. All the demands of Aburi Accord were implicitly capture in Awolowo's and Ahmadu Bello's memoranda of 1957 which Igbos rejected and heavily criticized as tribalist agenda against Zik's one Nigeria. So Aburi Accord was an afterthought. |
Omotolu:You are obviously hoping that there a saints somewhere in Nigeria whose denial of the right to rule is responsible for our woes. So who exactly are these saints that will just appear one day and just wipe corruption off Nigeria? Where are they right now? Have you ever wondered why since 1960 till this moment no Nigerian leader has been accepted as good by a simple majority of Nigerians? And do you think a time will ever come when Nigeria will have good leadership with the present unitary system structure that takes revenue generated in one state and gives it to another free of charge? So if you were to work in a company where Board of Directors make the policy that the staff who does overtime for 4 hours receives equal pay for the one who does 30 minutes overtime and then this creates crisis, would you continue to believe that the solution to the crisis will be to change the manager rather than to alter that policy? |
DikeOha882:OBJ is not a Yoruba icon and does not tow the Yoruba line of political reasoning. In fact OBJ's line of political thought leans towards the Igboish concept of a unitary one-Nigeria invented and propagated by Zik. And that's why Igbos gave him block votes in 1999 and 2003. If OBJ were truly a Yoruba Icon Igbos would have voted against him in 1999 as they did to Falae who was the real Yoruba Icon. So OBJ, an Igbo man politically, could not have reversed the mistake of another Igbo man, ironsi. |
I have gone through this thread and would just chip in the following as someone from the former Midwestern Region which was largely peopled by Edo and Edoid tribes. 1. Edo people's coming out today to warn against being included in the Biafra plan is not out of playing "notice me" or meddlesomeness in Igbo/Biafra business as some Igbos seem to suggest here. It is rather a forewarning they find necessary and justified given how Biafran soldiers invaded Benin City, Warri and many other Midwestern towns even though the Midwesterners declared themselves neutral. As long as Biafrans once invaded Edo lands suddenly in 1967 without due consultation, then the Edo and Edoid peoples' fear of a possible repeat of history is justified and by extension also justifies their fore warnings against Biafrans in the face of the current re-surfacing of Biafra agitations. Moreover Biafran soldiers invaded them when they declared they were neutral. They obviously don't want to repeat the mistake of neutral posturing hence their attempt to take a clear and unequivocal stand ahead now and make it known. Once beaten twice shy 2. The attempt to declassify Edo as a SS state based on some spurious logic such as its upper and lower boundary latitudes is at best funny. Firstly the average Bendelite cherishes the Bendelian classification more than the SS classification because of the fact that each ethnic nationality of Bendel voted with their freewill to be part of it in 1963 making Bendel the only legally created constituency in the history of Nigeria unlike every other region or state in Nigeria. The role of free will and the peoples' consent in the creation of Bendel still manifests till today among Bendelites in the form of deep love, mutual trust, mutual respect that transcends religious plurality and as well overshadows the current political party differences between Edo and Delta States. This obviously is the love and brotherhood Ifeanyi Okowa manifested a refusal to path ways with by declaring that Anioma can't be in Biafra and based his reason more on Aniomas being in Bendel than being in the South-South. This love is further boosted by the fact that the first memorandum demanding for a split of Bendel was submitted to the FG by people now in the Edo State part meaning that Edo State people were not after the crude oil of the Delta State parts as Edo has abundant gas deposits and a myriad of solid minerals which are not found in Delta. Moreover whenever Edo people propose a future republic for themselves ahead of the possible disintegration of Nigeria they don't ever suggest the inclusion of Delta State in it..... a clear indication that Edo is not after Delta's oil but is confident in its fertile lands, gas deposits, solid minerals, etc as economic base for their future republic. It is even common to hear a Delta person dream of Bendel Republic that will include Edo and Delta states, meaning that they feel free with Edo state as Edo has never tried to forcefully pull Delta State into its envisaged Edo Republic. In fact Edo is wary of Delta's militancy. This should serve as a lesson to Biafra agitators that people freely identify with you more when you don't try to force them. 3. The SS classification is a recent trend aimed uniting all the southern minorities as much as possible in order to free them from WAZOBIA domination and sub identity. It is not about these minorities' states' proximity to the North or West, or the presence/absence in them of riverine culture or any of those purely geographical parameters used by Igbos here to declassify Edo as a state of the SS which though Edo and Delta States still view as an attempt to undermine and undo their much cherished Bendelian classification. If Ogoja state had become a reality would its location on the extreme northern fringe of the SS make it a Northern state? If the boundaries of Enugu state were to be adjusted so as to carve into Enugu all the Igbos villages currently in Benue state as Igbos are currently demanding, then that readjusted Enugu State will obviously extend more Northwards than the Northernmost part of Edo State, and the Southernmost parts of Enugu will still remain less Southern than the Southernmost parts of Edo. Will that automatically make Enugu a Northern state? On the arguement of Edo being in the Southwest and Delta being in the SS as proposed by Igbos here, I don't get the basis because being geographically western means being located more to the West longitude wise. But Edo is perfectly vertically resting on top of Delta thus they are exactly on the same range of longitudes. Neither tilts to the West more than the other. So how is Edo to the West and Delta to the East? The regions of Nigeria are geopolitical and not Geographical. Only an half educated folk will use these two terms interchangeably. And that's why half-baked education is more dangerous than outright illiteracy. Kogi has an arm that extends deep into the South hence the current oil well/boundary disagreements between Kogi and Anambra. Does that make Kogi a Southern of even SEastern State? Whoever therefore wants to smuggle purely geographical criteria into it must first remove Enugu and Ebonyi from SE and place Kogi in the South East before pulling Edo into the North or West. 5. On the use of the assumed level of Muslim population in Edo-North to declassify Edo State as a SS state: I pity the Ignorance of those Igbos involved in it here. They obviously are ignorant of the fact that Edo State by virtue of its location, specifically the Etsako axis, was the corridor through which the Uthman Dan Fodio era Jihadists attempted an entry into Southern Nigeria in a manner as sudden and as unexpected as that of the Biafran Army in Benin in 1967, and were defeated at Auchi and environs where they met the strength of the Benin Kingdom as Etsako people are also migrants from Old Benin Kingdom. However before their defeat they had expectedly forcefully made converts to their religion. If not for the war prowess of Edo people the Jihadist would have penetrated further South and into the Nri Kingdom of the Igbos and islamise Igbos very easily as Igbos were neither warriors then nor organized into any monarchical system with a standing army to fight off a sudden invasion. Igbos should rather be thankful to Edo people for preventing the islamization of the lower Niger areas which Igbo land is part of. No tribe would be in Edo North's location without conceding a loss of its population to Islam at the invasion of a mighty Jihadist force. However there are three major ethnic divisions in Edo North namely; Akoko-Edo, Etsako and Owan. It is only in Etsako, in Auchi to be specific, that there is a relatively high percentage of Muslims (40%)due to what I have already explained, though Christian evangelism keeps reducing the Muslim population daily. In fact there are prsently more churches than mosques in Auchi. On the other hand Akoko-Edo and Owan are each 96% Christian and the populations of Akoko-Edos and Owans put together is well higher than that of Etsakos alone. So the religious mapping Igbos are bringing in has failed woefully. Only Ingrate tribes will mock Edo for a the vestiges of a war it fought to protect and defend the liberty of they themselves. Don't forget that Edo State however still cherishes the Bendelian classification more than the SS nomenclature. Thank you. |
oluseyiforjesus:That is how it ideally should be. But the problem with all Nigerian leaders both from North and South is unitary system mentality that favours overcentralization of everything including university admission process, policing system, revenue generation and allocation system, agricultural policies implementation, etc. They defend this nonsense by claiming that it is to prevent tribalism. Yet tribalism is growing everyday despite all their unitarian policies. JAMB was established as at when we had less than 25 universities nationwide so as to enable it monitor admission to eradicate a situation whereby two or three universities offer admission to a particular candidate for his excellent performance in O'level whereas the said candidate can only accept one of such multiple offers leading to redundancy of admission offers while other equally qualified candidates suffer rejection. Beautiful arguement, no doubt! But now that we have almost 150 universities and Polytechnics hence more than enough space for every qualified admission seeker why still retain JAMB? If the whole admission process is decentralized and each university sources for its candidates there will be no university that will ask its prospective students to come by 6:30 am to write their qualifying exams if at all there will be such where O'level result is just enough as the pre-requisite. |
oluseyiforjesus: |
Whoever brought the idea of having Jamb start as early as 6:30 pm obviously has no child or nephew/niece still at the stage in life of seeking admission into higher institution. Nigerians are so irrational that when they make policies they don't consider how it affects others except themselves alone. Once it is okay by them then they assume it is so with everyone. This reminds me of how some Nigerians from other regions defended OBJ's invasion of Odi as a good military strategy to curb violence but cried blue murder when the same military strategy was used to 'curb' violence in their own areas. I hate this country! |
salam1:Let me help you a little. The amalgamation and One Nigeria concept make the difference. Also I neither blamed Wike or Amaechi because the battle for supremacy between these two together with bogus remuneration for elective offices are merely symptoms of the careless Lugardian amalgamation and Zik's "one Nigeria" slogan which was and still is a mere euphemism for this fraudulent unitary system in place. A return to federalism will guarantee a multiple Nigeria and ensure a level of de-amalgamation leading to resource control thus the availability of very little funds at the centre from which these jumbo allowances can't be proposed let alone approved for senators and reps or even state LGA level elective office holders. Get it now? |
okorune:I implicitly made it clear that I did not set out to answer any question but to chide those who deviated from the question and then I lamented at the root cause of the divisive atmosphere responsible for why Nigerians don't answer questions correctly which itself was answer to the diplomat's question. Let me break it down for you: Lugardian Amalgamation and Zikist One Nigeria concepts led to the loopsided system which does not foster accountability as regards anything including resources and funds administration. With true federalism which translates to multiple Nigeria and a level of de-amalgamation resource control will be established and there will be no more excess funds to make larger than life budgets for senators, reps and other elective offices thus politics will lose its allure and the do-or-die element will wither. Get it now? |
YourNemesis:Some towns and villages in Akoko-Edo don't belong to any of the three major classifications of Igarra, Okpameri and Uneme. Examples are Ososo, Okpe, Akuku, etc. So Igarra is not alone on that. Moreover, Igarra people settled in just a single location unlike the others like the Unemes that splintered into different pockets of settlements interspersed between the other groups. Had Igarra people splintered like that they too would have been laying claim to having related villages within Akoko-Edo. |
We are where we are today because Nigerians don't answer questions correctly. A simple question is asked about remuneration for elective offices and the answers given by 95% of respondents are answers to another question entirely. Only the guy up there that referred the British ambassador to Lord Lugard said something related to the question. Anyway I as well blame Luggard for the useless amalgamation and Zik too for his blind and irritating one Nigeria. |
