I do not have soft place in my mind for political pan-handlers such Ohakim. By the same token, I despise the morons such GEJ who contributes to the political menace. In addition, judging from political indices, Nigeria is not ready for pseudo-democratic system talks less of democracy. Ohakim as well as many state governors are beggars and criminals who would do or say anything in favor of a despot as longer as there is existence of threat to seize their loot or haul them to jail for defrauding the people. |
TewMuch:I tend to ignore posts borne out of inherent stupidity. There is no doubt your post fits into the post I usually ignore. But for intellectual dimmers such as you, I must tell you that both the forum called Yoruba Council of Elders and south-west are totally inconsequential in scheme of things in Nigeria. South-west is not a constituted region. The so-called moronic YCE has no constitutional right to bare any Nigerian political aspirant to campaign in the states that constituted former western region of Nigeria. Even if the nomenclatural nonsense as south-west is constituted region, the premier of the so-called region does not have any power to bar any Nigerian political candidate to campaign in the region. I guess you have comprehensible issue which is none of my care. I used the Oyo Empire because it was city state with constituted powers that rested on the shoulders of Alafin. Even as such, Alafin could not issue order of baring a powerful man from his kingdom without contemplating a war. Again, if these loudmouths who called themselves YCE tend to introduce the activities of political thugs known for western region of Nigeria of yesteryears, they will receive a double dosage of it. |
I pray for quick disintegration of the cesspit called Nigeria. Even a man who claimed to have Phd is setting the truth on its head. Mr. GEJ, it is hypothesis before theorem and also policy before process. I now believed Nigeria is worse than thought. We should remove quota system on the officer cadets heading to NDA and re-introduce it when selecting the NCOs. Does this scenario represent the ridiculous quota system and federal character which GEJ continues to support? GEJ looks imbecilic trying to defend his flouting section 7-2C of PDP constitution. I do not weep for Nigeria rather I pray for its death. |
anonimi:Wow!! This is a wonderful recollection of ideas. I guess you included the southerners who sold out in 1966 during Nigeria/Biafra war in your unfortunate diatribe. This is simple politicking and you are twisted out of human form. What about war which involves life and death and yet southerners sold out? |
Monday, September 27, 2010 Printer Friendly Version 2011: Yoruba elders may bar IBB from South-West By Emmanuel Addeh, Ilorin Indications emerged on Sunday that Yoruba elders under the aegis of the Yoruba Council of Elders may soon pass a resolution prohibiting a former military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd.) from campaigning in states where the language is spoken. It was learnt that about 51 members of the YCE had appended their signatures to the proposed resolution, warning the former dictator to steer clear of Yoruba-speaking states during his campaigns. Addressing journalists in Ilorin, the Chairman of YCE, Kwara State chapter, Senator Suleiman Salawu, explained that ‘’no Yoruba man in his or her right senses would vote for IBB.” Salawu, who is also a National Executive member of the body, counselled Babangida to forget the race to Aso Rock and pray to God for forgiveness ‘for his many atrocities against Nigeria and the Yoruba people.’ The Chairman of National Action Alliance, said the Yoruba speaking race would never forgive Babangida for his role in the annulment of June 12 presidential election won by a business mogul, the late Chief M.K.O Abiola, the death of Mr. Dele Giwa and other prominent people in the country during his evil reign. He said, “We are moving the motion that he should be stopped and in fact barred from campaigning in the Yoruba states. We are sending the proposal already signed by 51 of our members to the national body. He annulled the fairest election ever in the history of this country and sabotaged the whole country. He should go and clear his baggage on his shoulders first. “If Babangida wants to come to any Yoruba-speaking state to campaign for his presidential ambition, he should forget it. If at all he is coming, then the only ticket that can enable him to come is to bring along Giwa and Abiola alive. “His sins are unpardonable. He merged Borgu with Niger and dismantled us by separating Okun from Kwara, thereby making Yoruba in Kogi a minority and making the Yoruba in Kwara State look useless. “It was during Babangida’s government that the Nigerian currency dropped drastically. It is a pity that the same man who devalued our currency and also encouraged corruption at the highest level would want to come back and rule the country again.” http://odili.net/news/source/2010/sep/27/899.html
This is an arrant nonsense. Even the mere insinuation of this thoughtless and complete waste of human endeavor is unpardonable display of stupidity. Even during the prime days of Oyo Empire, the Alafin could not bare any powerful fellow from entering Oyo Empire without thinking of war. Who knows the extent of idiocy these people could reach with irrelevant politics? |
Anybody who doubts the divisiveness of Nigeria or attempts to deny apparent distinctiveness of Nigeria based on ethnical landmark, culture, food, language and even the clothe Nigerians wear is a redundant fool. I appreciate such article because it uncovers the unpardonable error in judgment committed by some of our forbearers. Unfortunately, the new generations of Nigerians are drunk on blunders of yesteryears. British created Nigeria for the sole economic interest of colonial masters. Nigeria as presently configured will never see progress as found in most developed or developing countries. The socio-politico-economic progress that comes natural to nations of the world and cherished by their inhabitants will not flourish in the colonial contraption called Nigeria until it is deconstructed to usher true sense of nationalism and healthy competition borne out of mutual respect among nation-states that will emerge. It is said that “a fool at forty may remain a fool for ever”. Nigerians can not continue to wallow in the junk erected for them by colonial masters who did not have the interest of the inhabitants in their mind during the construction No wonder nobody seems to respect most Africans in general and Nigerians in particular because of boastful noises they generate and yet live under the junk constructed by people who disdained them. |
The British aim of amalgamation of Northern and Southern Protectorates in 1914, included among other things, was for the South to feed the North. However, I must caution the Southern Nigerians to take this political statement with grain of salt. If crude oil is removed as a variable factor in the Nigeria’s economy, I am tempted to fall with the fact that Northern Nigeria could either be feeding the Southern Nigeria or state of equilibrium would have been maintained. Believe it or not, crude oil was the major reason Gowon and Nigeria foisted war of attrition on eastern region of Nigeria. It has also led to the nonsensical politics of betrayal perfected by nonentities and sycophants that populated southern Nigeria. |
Beaf:Bros there is noting significantly wrong with the post. However, when we write essay in reference to fundamental history of our past, we must make sure to encompass the relevant facts of the era in discuss. Failure to do so has led many lazy students astray in their unfortunate endeavor to disseminate falsehood. In fact, when the crude oil was struck in Southern Protectorate or more correctly Eastern Region, there was noting called Nigeria. The first search of crude oil in Southern Protectorate by Shell D’arcy about 1948 started in a place called Ondo today. The initial search yielded no crude oil. Shell D’arcy moved further south to Owerrre where crude oil was struck in 1951 but excessive natural gas constituted a major problem due to lack of adequate technology by then. The crude oil well in Owerre was sealed. Again shell moved further south to a place in today’s Akwa Ibom and struck crude oil in 1953 but it lacked commercial quantity. The luck and fortune of shell were about to run out as the company struck it big in Oloibiri in 1956. By this time, Northern and Southern Protectorates have never achieved independence and there was no Nigeria. I should not bat an eye lid if the reference of Niger Delta and crude oil was made in accordance with geographical and scientific evolution rather than ignorant and stupid political approach as found in today’s Nigeria. Fine essays bordering on the recorded past events about the Protectorates, Regions and Nigeria should serve us right if the authors adhere strictly to historic facts and shun the foolish rhetorical load of deceitful and political jingoisms. There were four peripheral cities that formed the oil river quadrant, hence oil river protectorate that gave rise to Niger Delta. You will surprise to learn the depth of peoples’ ignorance of the fact when Nigerians discuss issues about Niger Delta today’s polity in Nigeria. |
sbeezy8:All of sudden, the events of 1966 do no longer tickle your fancy. I guess the blatant falsehood about Fajuyi wanting to die with Ironsi was a thing of the 80s. We shall know them by their roots and seeds. Do you think the cry of "Igbo leave Lagos and Yoruba land" is a jealousy only pertaining to business and education? It stretches to Igbo’s domineering attitude towards beautiful Yoruba babes. |
If this truly is the case, GEJ is in a big political trouble. ![]() |
Why all these IBB write-ups from hack writers? I do not care about IBB candidature but the visible and political shriving from the GEJ camp could warrant a second look on IBB. Anybody contesting the 2011 Nigerian presidential election on the platform of PDP and did not hail from northern region of Nigeria is a usurper. |
Beaf:Please engage in exploratory research on the issue of crude oil discovery in cesspit called Nigeria before going public with unfortunate post such as this one. |
I had rather believe Osoba’s account of events than the fictitious account from Special Branch. The Special Branch was headed and staffed by bunch of countercoup plotters who had developed ulterior motive to manipulate the account of events. |
How could taxi driver ram the so-called President GEJ’s car and yet the so-called press secretary to president did not know about incident? Nigeria is a practical joke. |
But my dear, you've fallen short of your glory, get a grip. You're not the only one that represents [or has represented a tribe], once again, it's HOW you represent that tribe that matters.LOL Will knowing my tribe or where I stand change your perception about me? Prolly will, knowing that you're a tribalist.
I recall your handle name sounds and appears Yoruba. Therefore, you are a condescending tribal irredentist. Believe me, your thoughtless approach of labeling me a tribal icon can not change the manner I represent my ethnicity in any socio-political atmosphere. |
Solomon227:If your types populated Nigeria, there is no need to search for the woes of the country. I do not know who or what gave you the impression I have chosen a preferred candidate for 2011 Nigerian presidential election. I do not give a rat-arse about what IBB did when he was a military head of state. My concerns hedged on GEJ who is regarded as a leader in what could be described as democratic setting in the jungle called Nigeria. A mayor who flouts ordinary traffic law does not deserve a council seat in a civilized country. GEJ has no business among civilized individuals under democratic atmosphere. I would have been one of those milling around in support of GEJ if he had decamped from PDP because of section 7-2C. Instead he stayed in PDP and flouted the statutory ordinance of PDP like any idiotic despot out of Africa. Nigeria has done nothing for me but it should be very nice if the so-called leaders from the cesspit would lead by examples. As GEJ parades his ugly self as president of Nigeria, he has no credibility to teach first grade pupils the essentials of civil obedience. No wonder Nigeria is riddled with all sorts of crimes because the leadership of colonial contraption does not lead by example. It amounts to intellectual dishonesty to compare the leadership of democratic setting with military regime. |
Get a grip on yourself. You're a tribalist, yours is just not as pronounced as the others.
I am not falling off my chair yet. The last I check though, I am Igbo and represent an ethnic group. Since you are not a Yoruba, I guess you are nobody. If I may go with words of Dr. Akinrinde Fadipe, I am honored to be a representative of my ethnic group. It is social malady when a person denies his/her ethnicity. Are you one of the goons? |
roll eyes
Are you surprised ![]() |
tpiah:I extend my gratitude to Tpia for those words. At least, there is one among the multitude with a guided social order. |
@Ibime Whether it was a war or confrontation, Ekwumekwu signified resistance to British colonialism of Southern Protectorate. There was a wide sense of unsolicited assistance to any community under the heavy yolk of British colonial expedition. For example, Igbo warriors rushed to assist Nana of Itsekiri when his kingdom was attacked by British. The Ekwumekwu might not have been exclusive affairs of Igbo in the Anioma but it was war or confrontation worth to be remembered. |
Now what does Yoruba beauty has to do with this convo? Even if you dig ugly yoruba women, how is that tangible? You're the one that brought your encounter(s) with Yoruba babes into this convo when your status of tribalism was in question. No one is question your zeal to speak the "truth" [which in some cases are your own version], it's the way you go about it. Deny it or dont deny it. . . .point is, you're a tribalist and you have no ground to accuse someone of being a tribalist.
I brought it up because your accusation lacks fundamental logic. If I am a human being who feels my ethnic stock is superior to others, why should I have love lust for girl from ethnicity I disdained? I hope you are not sensitive with issues of beauty and ugly. Fallacies that found their way to this board must be intellectually challenged before they became gospel as in the case of Fajuyi wanting to die with Ironsi. |
Ibime:Point of correction, it is a woman on a mission. |
I shall not say the participants in the video were illiterates, ill-educated or political love peddlers but must follow the path that describes them as profiteers in trade of electioneering season. Issues will arise when they fail to perform for another political customer such as Ribadu, Atiku or IBB. There is nothing wrong if they are paid to create political advertisement for willing political customers. |
I hope you know that dating Yoruba babes does not make you stop hating the whole tribe. MaziUche who has been dating Yoruba babes and that has never dated an Igbo babe is the most tribalistic annoying boy in this section---> follows by chyz ![]() Once again, I am not tribalist And dont intend to be one. It earns me nothing, esp when I know that MaziUche cant stop thinking abt me ![]() Thanks. I suggest you do the same too, for a very intelligent man. . . .your tribalism is too overwhelming.
I am lost with the plank of your argument. I honestly do not think and can not even insinuate that Yoruba have the most beautiful girls in Nigeria that their beauty can still instigate my hatred for Yoruba. It is unfortunate that my zeal to stand truth on its feet had to be construe as a practice of tribalism. Well, few great individuals from Nigeria have been injudiciously labeled as tribal bigots. If writing to separate facts from fictions will earn me such a label, I shall wear it as a badge of honor. |
I'm married, but thanks. And how exactly am I being a tribalist? ![]() And what should I say about your love for hating I wish you and your husband nice things. By the way, I suggest you spin away from tribalism. |
violent:I usually do not to reply to a poster apparently considered as an intellectual midget. However Mr. Nigerian Constitution, I beg of you to read section 131C of your namesake. I bet you we shall not be discussing this nonsense and GEJ will not be a candidate if PDP kicks him out of the party for an alleged anti-party activity |
LOL ![]() Why this nau?
If you continue with your newly found love in tribalism, I warn you husband could be far-fetched. ![]() |
Beaf:I really do not know what has come over you lately. If Nigeria constitution empowers every qualified Nigerian to contest for electable offices, may I ask you why the electoral field has not been clogged by morons? Why is it imperative that your own GEJ has to join PDP to become a deputy governor, governor, VP and President? Why did GEJ not run as an independent candidate? Presently, GEJ is the so-called president of Nigeria and if I should go by your ridiculous intuition, he should not have deposited 11million naira to obtain party candidature forms as stipulated by PDP because there was no such provision on the Nigerian constitution. It is a display of intellectual dishonesty to invoke Nigerian constitution in matter where it only provides minimal passage in polity. |
texazzpete:This sort of idiotic display is the fuel that runs the engine which seeks the disintegration of Nigeria. In fact, the earlier the cesspit called Nigeria is disintegrated the better for its former inhabitants. |
The use of military to prosecute a war or stop uprising is one thing but to tweak the leadership of the armed forces of Nigeria to achieve personal and tribal ends could lead to what supporters and GEJ could not afford. |
OAM4J:Sometimes I wonder if GEJ is not the most shameless and idiotic president Nigeria ever had in years. It bemused me that GEJ’s team shall invoke the spirit of federal character when explaining the rationale behind redeploying and retiring of Service Chiefs and GOCs when he has flouted section of 7-2C of PDP’s constitution which was enshrined to encourage federal character. If GEJ is not checked, Nigeria shall witness worst despot ever walked the surface of the earth. |
I have told you to stop this your lies.Nigeria survived basically on cash crops exportation before oil was discovered.the list of crop below show their importance and how they have sustained Nigeria up till after independence: *Cocoa *palm kernel *palm oil *cotton *groundnut *Rubber *sugar
What a load of misplaced conjectural crap. Cocoa only sustained western region not Nigeria. When Shell D’arcy requested for capital to sustain crude oil exploration in Southern Protectorate, I guess it was western region, with its cocoa, that cried poverty. I shall remind few loudmouths on this board that northern region and its groundnuts came to the rescue. |

you must be like 100 years old or maybe 500yrs old. You just jabo anyhow you feel like. Please think about what you say before you sound less intelligent than you are. You seem to jump to conclusions and make up stories pretty easily.
