Greatzeus:It's funny how people just to conclusion. First and foremost I stated clearly that I almost lost 50k meaning that I rescinded on my decision to help when it was discovered that the lady in question was lying a d yeah she stated her name age sex and course of study from the same mapoly so it logical for me to assume that it's a scam as I have been down that road before we and almost lost money in the process. People don't even read again before commenting Secondly I am not married and if I was whatever amount I give to my wife is none of your business Finally people inbox me every now and then on nairaland. Infact a fellow nairalander and I have become business partners all of which started from sharing the same thoughts on a thread and the exchanging business ideas through inbox. I don't need to blow any trunphets here just scroll through my posts on this forum before you just to conclusion. As one poster as rightly stated the guy should provide evidence and stop telling people to contact him via whatsapp! |
Princeofnigeria:What ever rocks your boat. You are entitled to your opinion |
seunak2016:Read my post well again. I said I almost lost 50k and it was in the process of doing due diligence that I discovered it was a fraud |

[quote author=slightlyMad post=65323112]Honestly she needs to take after Kate henshaw She is looking uglier daily cos of the fat You really can't restore old glory like that[/quote I was going to say same but didn't want the wrath of the feminists on this thread. I mean Nigerians need to understand now that carrying layers of fat all over the body is no longer a sign of enjoyment. I saw Kate henshaw the other day at proflex gym and boy she was looking so trim. And also take a cue from our foreign celebrities like Jay z, Jamie fox,Diddy, and will Smith who are all nearing 50 but still looking trim |
och12:MTN deserved the fine. While other telcos complied they felt they were above the law besides these telcos are taking in big bucks and taking out of the country including glo. |
Konga had an expensive business model.spent alot on adverts and had dollar payables due from a cash flow domiciled in naira.it was just a question of time.jumia is also in the same boat just that they have a larger war chest and trust me they are burning through cash like hell.jumia is still a loss making company though Alot of the e commerce firms have over bloated valuations and until they change their valuation and business operating models they will continue to suffer. Nigerians also didn't help matters . Yudala is barely struggling save for the support from zinox. |
damzy88:Thank you for thanking me. Let me just say that I came back with plenty money when dollar was still around N200, invested in some partnership venture lost everything an had to start from scratch literally so yeah I have been down the old scary and tough road of not having anything to my name. |
Naija is a shithole yet people esp foreign institutional investors made between 75%-150% ROI playing with funds in the debt and capital market alone. I know this because I manage such funds for them I was also abroad had a very good white collar job (earning 70K plus) but woke up one morning and decided to come back home and I don't regret it. I live in my own house in a serviced estate in a very serene part of Lagos state, have a lucrative side hustle and I thank God for what I have achieved so far a lot of which I wouldn't have achieved if I was still abroad. I feel for Femi O because I have been in his shoes before and he sounds really pained probably because his contemporaries that he left in Nigeria are not doing bad (Saheed Balogun et.al) More so he wont be a security guard for the rest of his life and its very difficult to save considering that he has three kids to feed. I belong to a semi formal think tank of professionals from different sectors in the country and we met recently to discuss 2017 events in retrospect and one thing dawned on me which is that there is no sector or business in Nigeria that does not have new or existing growth potential. Literally every sector still has opportunity for growth be it upstream oil and gas, automobile, retail and even real estate. However how difficult the barriers to entry is, there is still room for growth. I give you an example Dangote is building the largest refinery in Africa, I can bet you that such an investment decision will be dead on arrival in place like America, UK or any of the developed nations around. On the flip side our country and economy is still developing so there is room for growth and we also have the advantage of a youthful and growing population. My barber makes an average of 10k daily cutting hair @ 300naira per person and this is excluding house calls and also sells hair treatment products and other accessories. He reminds me every month to sharpen the blade of my personal clipper which cost me 500 naira. He also does some entertainment stuff by the side like downloading movies and songs and selling to people at 50naira per download. He has a small portion of his shop where people can come and sit and charge their phones at 50 naira per charge. I use him as an example because I know when and how he started and I thank of that I was part of his growth story. We are quick to blame our leaders when in the real sense we should also take a large portion of the blame. One for sure, we are not honest in any way. I have done cross borders deals with people over the phone without meeting face to face and the other parties have kept to their own part of the bargain but in Nigeria even with an iron clad agreement and all sorts of default covenants Nigerians will still look for one way or the other to renegage on the agreement and some will even do all sorts of unprintable stuff to default on the agreement. There is dignity in labour but if we ask the same Mr Femi to come and run a security outfit in Nigeria (a sector that is very lucrative by the way) he will say God forbid..........I am a movie producer bla bla! For me I think our inferiority complex, mentality about religion has contributed to the state of our nation. Here Pastors will speak prophesy into people's lives telling them that and I quote "by this time next week you will be the MD of your own company bla bla" and the person who does not even have the capacity to run a small team will begin to have grand and distorted illusions. I know of someone that started exportation business (exporting hibiscus flowers)) to Mexico with just 750k and today the guy has a confirmed profroma to export over 120k USD of hibiscus flower to the US and he even got 30% upfront payment from the buyer guaranteed by his bank in case he fails to perform and guess what he got the contact to do the first shipment from an online forum and the rest as we say is history I know we have our issues and to be honest I don't think that seemingly simple things like light, water, good roads should be an issue but hey even these simple necessities come at a cost abroad. I remember I was paying about 50-150 dollars for light alone and about 100 dollars for water back in the day. Now tell me how many people do that in Nigeria, the Discos tried to increase tariff so they can pay and improve power generation we all kicked against it. even to pay 3k bill is an issue for those that can afford. the same Nigerian will collect post paid electricity meters and still go ahead and bypass wires so they can enjoy free light and then lets not even talk about taxes esp from small business owners. I also think that we need to recalibrate our educational curriculum and teach people to be more vocational and entrepreneurial instead of going through the four walls of a school to come and start looking for jobs. One thing I know for sure is yes we have our plethora of issues but Nigeria will be great again. I mean the chinese, lebanese, indians and others are coming here in droves and making millions so why cant we do same in our own country? Despite the so called recession, Shoprite revenue in Nigeria increased by 57% dwarfing sales from the rest of Africa combined in 2017 alone! I think I have said enough and yeah..................God bless Nigeria! |
Mypeople2:Oga I am self employed an thankful. Kindly read the original poster's comment and digest the contents. |
gbagyiza:Sorry to bust your bubble a lot of people are. A doctor friend just accepted three year contract with Medicin San Frontiers (Doctors without borders) and will be earning 1.5m per month including security and accommodation. The NGO works with IDP camps in Borno. |
Mypeople2:So myopic, you have not even asked if you have skillsets for the job, you are already dictating and making demands. No wonder a lot of graduates are unemployed! |
Even Toke is talking! I am not judging but from which of her EARNINGS does she give first fruit? Is it from her miserly OAP salary or proceeds from "OTHER NAFERIOUS ACTIVITIES? I think she should just stick to posting pictures of her heavily oiled face on Instagram and the other under the table stuff that she does. As people now know her for the fraud that she is. Empty barrels they say make the most noise |
Nobody forced him to sign any contract with Sony and am sure that he had lawyers with him when he was signing. He should have read the fineprint very well, asked for long term implications of entering into such a contract, weighed his options before putting pen to paper. I hear he got 5m dollars for the deal hence the least he can do is to abide by the terms and conditions. Same way people are screaming blue murder for Kiss Daniel from a contract that got him a bedroom house in Lekki, 4 state of the house cars and about 120m in earnings over 4 years. Yet people were screaming that the label cheated him. No wonder we can't move forward as a country. |
GTB is is second most capitalized stock on the NSE and the most profitable bank in Nigeria. Their shares is the toast of international investors they are also the first bank to post 100billion in real economic profit in Nigeria. In other news I hear that Innoson has refused to honor the efcc court invitation in abuja. I hope he knows that nobody is above the law. God bless Nigeria. |
But he has a wedding ring on in the new picture? |
AmCON can't just come and take over property without a court order. Besides the loan must have really gone bad an delinquent before the bank will pass it over to AMCON because once a loan is passed over to AMCON the loan amount is charged against their profit and capital. Infact most banks avoid AMCON. For avoidance of doubt and for the ignorant tribalistic people.....know this Kanu and his business partner took a loan from Skye to expand the hotel. While Kanu was the passive partner, while the other partner managed the hotel. As typically with most hospitality businesses in Nigeria, standards dropped and this affected the ability of the cash flow from the business to repay the loan. Also kanu and his partner fell out stemming from accusations on fraud and mismanagement on both sides. The partner accused Kanu of taking substantial funds out of the business and also some director's loans totalling 170m naira that he has refused to pay. Kanu also accused the partner of fraud mismanagement etc. The bickering between the two affected the business and ability to pay back the loan. Skye tried severally to resolve the issue between the partners but didn't succeed because of ego and pride on both sides. AMCON was the last option What I see is a case of two partners that made mad money when the business was doing well and can't take a hit now that the business ain't doing well. More the gist is that kanu used to funds from the hotel to fund his foundation which he has also confirmed. However he hasn't been entirely truthful because I hear that he was taking more that the revenue generating capacity of the hotel which ultimately affected the cashflow and daily operations. Such that most times they had negative cash flow Also become AMCON can be invited by the bank there would have been a very detailed audit of the transaction and accounts by an independent party to prevent bias. Once the loan is transfered to AMCON, customer no longer has any business discussing with the bank. Finally AMCON tried to get a receiver manager but efforts were frustrated hence the decision to strip and sell assets I think he should sort out the issue with his partner and both of them repay the loan because it's shareholders funds we are talking about here |
Thank God the bulllets used in this situation didn't unclad the criminals. Kudos |
egopersonified:Acquiring power is like a game of chess you never put your best foot forward unless the timing is right. Also you have to learn under the tutelage of someone and if you give the impression that you immediate plan is to outdo the person you will be shown the door before even starting I suspect that you have not real the book if so please read and digest the history examples and interpretations to real life situations. |
Gaddafithe2nd:Yes I have. However I feel 50th law is just a glorified version of the 48 laws. Nothing beats the latter because it's is a masterpiece. It's like trying to compare one of fela's seminal songs to a modern day remix or remake The art of seduction on the other hand is meant for people who are still tangled in this illusion called love and me I have gone past that phase in my life Remember never have friends only business interests....my own addition to the laws |
Number 1 is still sacrosanct. Without playing by the tenets of the first rule, one can't get far. Also 48 laws is common now, try and get other books written by the same author like 33 strategies of war and mastery. |
chukzyfcbb:He didn't want overnight hammer so to speak. I hear he had been sending the money in tranches thinking they were acquiring a tank farm and vessel for him and yes he still has a hand full of real estate investments but located in economically un viable places especially outside lagos and also not handled properly. The issue is I guess the tank farm and oil vessel was more or less his retirement cash cow and losing it has affected him mentally. Again like you have said people should shine their eye and diversify. |
ThierryJay:Ok but the comparisons are two opposites. An investor will typically have a stake in the business by way of equity or debt injection into the business and also meaning that they will have some form of risk attached to their investment. A technical and franchise partner won't have any of these. They are on board by virtue of the experience they have managing similar investments or projects and are paid for the services rendered. Will the world end if the Milan people leave IHG, the answer is NO. The only thing is service standards will drop which will in turn affect revenue turnover and IHG will become another glorified Federal Palace Hotel if they don't remedy the situation. Same way KFC will come and be charging their franchisees an arm and leg in Nigerian and to be honest I don't blame them or any of the other foreign technical partners. Give this kind of task to a Nigerian technical or franchise partner and trust me they will run the entire company into the ground before you say Jack Robinson! |
lymelyte:You are spot on brother. I have seen him too and a lot seems off about him The gist around the estate and more reason why a lot of people staying around him have kept quiet is that his family members were co conspirators in the fraud. More so the fraud was something that started even in his playing days while he was still actively playing football. I hear that he had been sending money home to his family and pastor thinking they were investing in some phoney tank farm and vessel for him. His case is similar to that of Emmanuel Adebayor just that Adebayor rescued him self quickly from his evil minded family members. I guess the realization that it was a fraud really took its toll on him and there is even talk of juju been used on him so a lot of people fearing just keep their distance from him I really feel for the poor chap. And like someone said there is a difference between making money and managing money The 1.2b invested in TBills even @ 15% per year will fetch him cool 180m naira yearly, paid upfront and tax free which will be more than ok for him to live a pretty decent life as a retired footballer and his principal of 1.2b will still be intact. Okocha too almost lost bout 2b share investment in a defunct bank save for Obj who pulled strings for him when he was president. Similar thing too almost happened to Kanu with Hardley Suites. So sometimes I don't even blame some of these footballers when they ex communicate their family members! I also have a distant uncle who migrated to America in the 80s with his family and was sending money to his immediate junior brother to build shopping mall, mini estate and gas station, you can imagine his horror when he came on a surprise visit only to discover that all the money sent in 5 years was used for nothing even land they didn't buy and when he arrested the brother they called a family meeting and his own mother was even swearing for him that she was disappointed that he arrested his brother because of ordinary money. The man just left and has cut all ties with his family members. Even when his parents died he didn't come for the burial. All his transactions are now done through trustee account with proper documentation. I pray he recovers quickly because I think what he really needs now is to be in the right frame of mind first and then picking up the pieces of his life can follow |
ThierryJay:Point of correction Milan is not an investor but rather a technical and franchise partner. The hotel is funded by Skye Bank top to bottom. |
ezef2k4:There is more to the take over. The owners of the hotel were diverting funds and defaulting on the loan repayment. There were already backlog of missed loan re payments which necessitated the handing over of the hotel to a receiver manager. Also the fact that the loan will expire in 2021 does not mean that the bank can't take over the hotel if the loan conditions aren't adhered to. |
kitaatita:God bless you. Too many ignorant people on nairaland. Also the reason why the money remains unpaid is because Intercontinental has informed the partners that they can no longer afford to make dollar payments and offered naira instead but they refused. My question for the people that structured the agreement is this why domicile partnership payments in dollars when the cash flow from the hotel is in naira? |
nairavsdollars:The agreement was only signed in Q3 of 2017 so stop lying besides the renovation of the road will take between 10-16months because of the cement technology involved. Also he will need to settle some people with property along that axis because the plan also involves expansion Instead of blaming Dangote for everything why don't we also caution the reckless drivers? God bless Dangote and God bless Nigeria! |
Congrats I hope this car was manufactured....sorry assembled by Innoson or else something is amiss and we won't allow our fellow brother not to patronize Innoson God bless Nigeria! |
MrHistorian:Davido and Wizkid are BFFs now stop calm down.....breathe slowly...drink some water and stop taking panadol for another person's headache! |
PrecisionFx:Oga stop mis informing people. I won't even bother to reply any of your posts again. Since Ibeto has an oil well tell him to build a refinery too in his village where he can employ a lot of unemployed people. If he can't afford a green field refinery he should be able to at least do a modular one that will cost about 50million dollars. Abi una almighty ibeto no fit afford 50m USD again Oh I forgot he has his myriad of bad loans with AmCON to sort out just like ifeanyi UBA an co. So Dangote imported 3years worth of cement and hid in a construction site yeah? Sounds like a conspiracy theory that my 3 year old nephew would cook up And please which construction sites did he hide them and which pastor told him the prophesy on the exact metric tonnes of cement to import? |
